I've been on Yasmin since high school and have not suffered from any side effects since my fiance came back from Iraq. I went off of the pill while he was gone, but when he got home I started up again. Lately I've been so tired that I wake up at noon and around 3PM I'm so tired I have to take a nap. Also, I've always had an anemia problem, but now its just gotten worse. I get mad at the weirdest things and just start crying or feel like crying. Not to mention I have almost no sex drive. Which is weird since my fiance was in Iraq for 15 months; I should be wanting sex way more.

I am 39 years old and very active. I have been on Singulair for about 2 years now. I did not think I had any problems while on the medication because it did help my breathing. I am now on an antidepressant (Lexapro)which I began about a year after I began the singulair. My depression however started almost a year before I actually got on the Lexapro. I had alot going on in my life so I just equated my depression to that. However I am realizing now that maybe the singulair triggered my depression. I ran out of singulair two days ago and am experiencing withdrawal symptoms, extreme tiredness, stuffy head, and I had heart palpitations last night, which I have never had. The withdrawal symptoms are why I began researching the medication because I couldn't understand how being off of it for such a short time could cause such an effect. I was on Singulair once before about 6 years ago before I retired from the military while I was at Ft Hood before I deployed to Iraq. By the time I left Iraq I was on multiple medications, Singulair, Claritin, Advair, Emergency Inhaler, When I arrived in Iraq I became ill and listed my medications. They were in shock and took me off everything except Claritin and I was fine. It wasn't until I returned home I began the Singulair again. (Why? I guess I never equated it to causing my other issues until now), I am also taking Zyzal and Lexapro. I see now that every time I take the Singulair it leads to additional medications to other things. I am going to stay off of it and hopefully be able to wean myself off of the Lexapro as a result. Unfortunately I probably will still need to take an allergy medicine. Thanks everyone for posting this useful information. I have two kids 6yrs and 12yrs and I know now that they will never take this medication. They have allergies like me so it is very probable that eventually it would have been mentioned. The allergist/asthma doctor is adamant the 12 year old has asthma but I never gave him the advair that he wanted him to take because I did have side effects from that medication that I did recognize myself and my son is the fastest runner on his select soccer team and extremely athletic without it, no emergency inhaler needed or anything.

I wish I would have researched this med before I took it. I took it in March 2007. I was in the hospital for pneumonia. The doctor sent me home with a prescription to finish out. I want to tell you that I started to bleed from my stool. I bleed so much that I had to wear pads. On the last day of the Levaquin (I thought I had to take it all), I was crawling to the restroom and bleeding from my stool. I would have to lay on the floor to get the strength to set on the pot. My husband was in Iraq, and I didn't have anybody to help me. I warn anybody not to take this medication. My bowels have never been the same. But the doctors have checked me and can't find anything wrong.

Oh my god, I am freaking out now that I am reading all of these!! I had mirena put in 11 months ago because I am in the U.S army and I am deploying to Iraq in April 2009, and I wanted to have lighter periods. I also thought that it would be easier than remembering to take a pill and getting prescriptions constantly refilled. I HAVE NOT HAD A SINGLE PERIOD IN ALMOST 11 MONTHS! Thats not normal!! On top of that I am experiencing pain while having sex. So bad that I can't walk. that is the same pain that I felt when I had it put in. When I went to get this thing in, my doctor told me that I would be able to go back to work after my appointment. That was not the case!! they released me no more than ten mins later, and I walked in a daze to my car. I felt so sick, I had to turn around and go back into the office. I was dizzy. I remember a woman asking me if i was okay. I said NO and they told me I could lay down on one of the beds, and I no sooner made it back there when I vomited in the sink. Iwas in so much pain that I could not stand up! they had to call my husband after getting the number off my phone and then he came to get me. He had to carry me to my car. They wrote me a prescription for 2 Vicodin!! It didn't even touch the surface of my pain! I took both of those and 3 Tylenol and I still could not walk! I had to take the next day off from work as well. It was horrible. I do like the convenience of Mirena, but the side effects are not pleasant!! I do not want to have kids, I want to try to find a doctor that will preform a hysterectomy on me.

Someone, please tell me how long this coughing will last! I took Lisinopril for 4 weeks. During that time I had many of the same symptoms that I'm reading now, but didn't realize what was causing them. But after 3 weeks of a constant dry cough that led to gagging more often than not and cough attacks every hour on the hour even at night, I turned to the Internet to research tickling coughs. I too was sure I had throat cancer after experiencing lung cancer just a year ago. After reading all of these experiences from all of the people on this site, I was relieved yet furious. I called to inform my doctor of the side effect of the coughing that was keeping me from going anywhere but work (I'm a teacher so you can imagine how difficult that is). I was consuming 10 - 15 cough drops a day and night which was not helping my weight issue. She prescribed Toprol which I researched and read that it should not be taken if you have had a history of lung issues. Needless to say, I'm not going to take that either. My blood pressure is pre-hypertension so I believe I can control that myself with exercise and diet. It's been 5 days since I stopped taking the Lisinopril and the coughing has not subsided at all. I was up every hour on the hour last night and that was with taking a sleep aid.

I started the NUVARING around Christmas time. My boyfriend had just come home from Iraq, so I thought it would be a good idea to get on birth control. I was excited about the NUVARING, but after a few days I felt as if I had a UTI and a yeast infection. I also had a decreased libido. The fact that every time I sat down it started to fall out was a pain in the butt. With all of the side effects I started to get a mild form of depression, which still continued after I took it out after the first month. I am a nurse and just recently after I stopped using the NUVARING a young patient came in with a Pulmonary emboli from smoking with the Nuvaring. So ladies be careful and aware of these side effects.

I got my Mirena placed in Nov 2008, the insertion was EXTREMELY painful, I cramped for about 2 weeks afterwards, but a heating pad made it feel a lot better. Other than spotting, like one day it's red spots, next day brown, then nothing, then the next day red, then brown then nothing. But it seems like everyday there is something going on. Not enough for a pad though. My husband is in Iraq, so I haven't had sex on it yet, he returns in January, so we'll see how that goes. I haven't vomited, no dizziness, I haven't noticed any weight gain yet. I was already always tired, so I can't really blame that on the Mirena. 3 kids will do that to you. For the most part I am pleased with my Mirena, but I'm glad to find a site that does share the side effects, cause a lot of these were not mentioned by my doctor. I will definitely keep an eye for them.

well my husband just got home from iraq on the 27th of Oct. 2008 i have had mirena scence June 19th 2007 . after our second baby together we thought it would be a good idea to get something we can depend on. i am experiencing the first bad side effect . i have a UTI that i cant seem to kick but mind you i haven't seen a Dr. yet . i have taking AZO and drank lots of cranberry juice in the past 3 days and cant seem to kick it so i thought i would see in mirena has anything to do with it when i found this site . but until about 3 days ago i had no problems out of it . i don't have a period and i don't get bloated and i don't have mood swings at all and my face is the clearest it has been scence i was 10 years old. so other than this UTI i have had no problems out of it .

I was prescribed Prednisone along with an H2 Blocker and an Antihistamine for a severe chemical reaction to using old lotion in a tanning bed. I only laid 2x, but I am severely paying for it now. I was only prescribed Prednisone for a 9 day treatment. By the 3rd day I had the acne. I suffered with Acne all of my life until I was 18 (I am 27 now) ... and haven't looked back at that terrible part of my life since... well, now I am faced to stare right back at it. Literally. I have only been off of the prednisone for 2 days, but I can not WAIT to get my life back. If I could take back the last 2 weeks over something so stupid and cosmetic as tanning, I certainly would. I have never had any previous problems with any of this, and this is the first time I have really had an allergic reaction to anything.... typically, Benadryl would have cured me. Although this time incurable with Benadryl and Cortisone, I regret the Prednisone. Severely. I hope this goes away within at least three weeks.. as my husband is coming home from Iraq and that is not the welcome home I want him to have (even if he is much less superficial about it then I am). Sigh.

I have been on Lupron for not even a month yet. My side effects are bad headaches, the pain has not gone away, I am still having my period, I have terrible mood swings, I have trouble sleeping, I have no sex drive at all, (my husband hates that) I get shortness of breath sometimes. I get hot flashes, they don't really last long, but when they hit, they hit. I get stomach aches and nausea sometimes. I think the worst thing about me is that I am in the Army. One doctor that I was seeing did a sonogram, a CT scan(i think), and put me on birth control pills, but none of that worked. She said there was nothing wrong with me and that I was making it all up. She said I needed to go to mental health. I finally got referred to OBGYN. The doctor there did a laproscopy, but let her tell it, she doesn't even know if I have endometriosis. She said I have a lot of scar tissue, but she can't say if it is endometriosis. Why are you treating me for endometriosis if you don't know for sure if I have it? The worst part of all is that I am supposed to be deploying to Iraq next month and I am still in pain. Yall please pray for me...

After reading your stories, I am terrified that I even let my doctor talk me into getting this. I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old. My husband and I weren't sure if we wanted more kids so I asked my doctor what she recommended.
We decided on Mirena so I had it put in back in December. It is now Jan.19. On Wednesday I went for my 5 week checkup to make sure it was still where it was suppose to be. Well, they couldn't find it. This was in the morning...I needed to get an ultrasound. They still couldn't find it so they did an internal ultrasound...still nothing. So my doctor ordered an x-ray.
Mind you I had my kids with me because I thought it would be quick. So they were both hunger at this point. By this point it was almost dinner time.
They finally found it back on the right side of my abdomen. NOT IN MY UTERUS!! I couldn't believe it. I now need surgery to remove it.
They will be doing a laparoscopic surgery...my doctor has never done this before. Do I let her or do I get someone else to do it? She said she has never perforated anyone's uterus before and that she would not charge me for the surgery but I would need to pay for the hospital stay. Is this right?
I don't think I should be paying for any of this.
Besides the fact that I've also been experiencing lots of cramping and pain. I 've gained 6-7 lbs., have muscle aches, crabbiness, headaches, dizziness, bloated all the time, bad gas pains in my stomach,...tired.
Was it worth it...NO!!!
I can't wait to get it out. My husband and I will stick with condoms for now until we want a more permanent solution. My husband said he would get the vasectomy at that point. I've gone through enough.
I am sure this is not a good form of bc. I'm sorry women have had to go through the same experience but hopefully more women will realize how bad it is and not get one.

I've been on nuvaring for about 7 months now...previously i stopped taking any birth control for 7 months because my boyfriend was in iraq, and i felt great. my mood was normal and i was strong and able to keep positive. the first month i put the ring in i was like out of my mind, lost, for those three weeks before my first period finally came. Now every week before my period i find myself to be extremely horney, and EXTREMELY emotional. i've been feeling depressed and don't want to work out like i like to. I don't feel good enough, and struggle with like self confidence, its like all these stupid things come out for no reason and i pick fights with my boyfreind and make it seem like its his fault im upset, like he's not doing it right. I think I should go off of it, but it just works so well!!! Such a perdiciment.

Ever since I stopped yasmin I've had the worst PMS symptoms. I never had PMS before, but now i can tell at least a week before my period that i will be getting it. I'm talking full fledged mood swings, cramps, bloating. I stopped yasmin because sex became so painful and not to mention i NEVER felt like it (and my husband had just got back from iraq!) Its been 2 months and luckily my cycles went right back to normal but geez, i can do without the emotional rollercoaster.

I was just wondering if ANYONE has taken prednisone 5mg for the 12 days you know 6 tabs for 2 days 5 tabs for 2 days 4 ect...
My main concern is weight gain, I am getting ready to be in a wedding and more the 2lbs the dress wont fit its already been fitted. The Dr. tol;d me that there will be now weight gain, but who knows i also asked him about mixing it with diet pills due to the fact i am trying to stay this size which i usually have no problem byt ny luck would be the dress dont fit, the Dr said I can still take it with my diet pills, so thats a plus but then i never drink and I know at the wedding i will the wedding is 3 weeks away and i am only on this for 12 days but still i wonder if it is ok to drink or if i will gain weight, I am not worried about saxual side effects due to the fact my husband is in Iraq, so oh well if it happens! The Dr gave this to my cuz I have a tear in my knee and a cyst! So if anyone can help please do!

I have been breakthrough bleeding for a month! i was fine for the first 4 months, had no side effects..and now, 3 weeks before my husband gets home from Iraq I am dealing with breakthrough bleeding that is driving me crazy. I dont think you can even call it that because for the past week its been like a regular period. My doctor tried to switch me to Ovcom35 but after researching that on here it seems nothing will help. by the way, my husbands been gone a year...and i blame Yasmin for me having absolutely no sex drive at all. I can honestly say that i could care less..and thats sad. ugh. if i just stop taking it, will the bleeding stop?

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!

Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.

I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).

The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.

I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.

For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???

Thanks...

I have been on Yasmin for two months. The problem is that I am deployed in Iraq and I started taking Yasmin because my doctor said that it would be okay to miss the last week, the sugar pills and continue on with the following month. That way I wouldn't have to have a period while I am deployed in hot Iraq for a year. So, here I am and instead of not having a period I am consistantly spotting. Basically I have been bleeding a little every day for two months. This is the last thing that I want to think about while I am here. I don't have access to good doctors and I am busy so I will probably will have to stay on it until I get back home. Meanwhile though, my breast (which are usually non-existant) are HUGE! I LOVE that, even though it is too bad that I can't be with my husband to show him.... Despite this GREAT breast growth I probably won't stay on Yasmin unless my body gets used to it and I stop this never-ending bleeding!!!!! My skin looks good too, and that is amazing considering how hot and dirty I am. But, is it really safe to bleed, even just a little bit, every day? I doubt it!

I took levaquin just last night and today i have a headache. I also lost my job this morning, must be the Levaquin. As a matter of fact maybe this whole Iraq thing is all levaquin's fault.
Maybe you people need to realise that just because you have a symptom, and it happened after you took a drug, the two aren't necessarily related. Take my word for it, I'm an M.D.
