I got my Mirena removed two weeks ago after seven years of carrying it around in my uterus. I had horribly painful periods before (like vomiting and fainting from the pain horrible), so I was glad to be rid of that.
What I'm not glad about, however, is the thick black BEARD HAIR that I've developed (which returned after expensive laser treatments), losing about a quarter of my previously thick hair (now I have to wear extensions to appear somewhat normal), and walking around for seven years with acne, a pooch that had me constantly pregnancy testing, hoohoo odor that sometime persisted despite bathing AT LEAST daily, and oh, the wonderful gas, bloating, and bowel irregularities that caused me constant anxiety in the tiny, quiet house I live in with my boyfriend.
Then there is the chronic pain for the past two years that they can't find the cause of - could this little miracle have anything to do with it?
I've brought these things up to doctors, all who knew I was on Mirena, and was always blown off. But it's obviously related, along with the my eyesight now being that of an 80-year-old, my very own snowstorm of dandruff no matter what I wash with, and, quite possible, the depression that no medication makes a dent in. None of which I had before Mirena came waltzing into my life.
Here's hoping for a return to normal now that it's out, and perhaps a lucrative class action lawsuit in the future that nets us each at least enough to get electrolysis and a hair transplant.

I THINK WE WERE DUPED!
Is anyone thinking that the drug company knew all of this, and therefore has been marketing specifically to women who have just given birth... this way, the postpartum symptoms are the scapegoat:
bleeding
cramping
hair loss (very common 3 months after.. I believe I lost more than most)
insomnia (very common after delivery due to motherly hormones have
you on high-alert))
No sex drive (because we're either breastfeeding, hormonal, or just feel
fat)
Mood swings (because of our ever-changing post-partum hormones)
depression, crying (must be Post-Partum Depression!)
Joint pain, back pain (we're carrying our new baby around too much)
Bingeing and Food cravings (we're home alone and bored or
breastfeeding)
No sex drive (we are bitchy, unsociable, depressed, feel overweight and have no energy.. I'm surprised they still want to have sex with us?!!)

I have endometreosis and casuses me a lot of pain.I've been on all types of birth control Ortho- Evra, Ortho tricycline...My doctor put me on Jolessa about 1.5 years ago. During the first 10 months I was perfect it help me out a great deal with my endo. But during these last few months I have experienced headaches, severe mood swings, depression, blood pressure irregularities, cramping and on top of that hair loss. I'd much rather deal with the pain than go through all of this. Not sure of whats out there that will help me out?

Kenalog needs to be sued! I had the flu back in November of 07' and my internist had her nurse give me a shot of Kenalog. Come to find out through my own research (not anything my doctor warned me about) that kenalog causes all kinds of hormonal irregularities. On top of that horrible feeling, I have a HUGE dent on my left butt cheek. It started out small and is now huge with lighter colored skin tissue deep (1.5 ") in the middle of it. I feel very embarrassed being nude, and very paranoid about clothing. I know it is very visible in a bikini and under A-line fitting clothing. I went to my doctor and asked her about it and she said "it is normal, and that was one of the side effects." BUT the nurse who injected the shot did not say a word about any side effects when she saw the dent nor did she admit to any error of the injection. The Dr. said I will now have this crater/dent for the rest of my life. It all smells fishy to me. My doctor didn't mention one single word about a possible side effect. I would NEVER have had the injection. We trust our doctors to tell us side effects that may cause us emotional stress, and possible disfigurement for the rest of our lives. Has anyone had any luck with getting a lawyer involved. I want compensation. I want to try the saline injections and don't want to pay for the treatment. AND I want to STOP this from happening to other women. This is not a vain issue. It is an outright disfigurement/deformaty.

i was giving the "free sample" packet of Femcon Fe by my ob-gyn to help with the irregularities of my periods due to PCOS.from day one its been a major pain!a headache and insane nausea!it was awful...and this trend continued non stop through the entire 3 1/2 weeks of use.headache nausea fatigue moody tender breast heartburn...heck...i began to think i was flipping pregnant and took a test to reassure myself i wasn't and that this birth control pill was just really working me over. i know one must allow their bodies to get used to the b/c...but this was ridiculous! i finally threw in the towel last night and stopped taking them.in my third week and already i'm spotting with incredibly bad cramps nonstop.makes me think something is seriously wrong...wait i know..its this freaking pill! i think there is a hidden agenda to these pharmacal companies handing out free samples of b/c....using you as little test subjects without being up front about how bad the effects are on the body.heck...i was foolish enough to be convinced....a minty chewable birth control pill.AWESOME!...cha! they should include on the packaging"This product has the tendency to totally annihilate your sense of comfort during the entire duration of consumption".screw this pill...i'd rather deal with the side effects of my last pill which is like cake and ice cream compared to this one here!

I have been on Lamictal for approximately 7 years. The product initially seemed to work a bit on controlling my seizure activity, and did provide a bit more confidence in social situations. At this point I was taking 400mg per day, and had little side effects other than the absent mindedness, and occasional problems with vertigo.
Briefly, about a year ago, I began having an increasing number of partial and general seizures, and was brought up to a dosage of 700mg per day. It was at this point that I began noticing what could only be called "hard-core" side effects. These included days where I was just totally confused, paranoid, suicidal, having an unrelenting feeling of not being able to breath, feeling bloated in my abdomen, and regularly being struck with a very irregular, very scary, rapid heart beat.
At this point, I am taking 600mg per day, and am still having most of these side-effects, but in decreased frequency. My neurologist never mentioned any of these possible symptoms, and doesn't seem overly concerned about any of the problems that I have mentioned in the past. With this in mind, it is somewhat relieving to see that there are others out there who are noticing similar effects.
If anyone can explain the difficulty breathing thing a bit more, it might help me wrap my brain (no pun intended) around this whole mess. I'm not sure if it's related to a decrease in blood pressure - I've been monitoring mine and haven't seen any irregularities. Or if it's related to a decrease in the amount of oxygen in the circulatory system due to the drug itself, or as a side-effect of the shallow breathing I have read about in other posts here.

I have always had regular periods...I had a injection of Kenalog for Bronchitis on Jan.29, 2008 and I have a had a non-stop period with the exception of a few days ever since. My doctor did not inform me of any side effects even though I asked if there were any side effects, he told me no side effects. If he had told me it can cause menstrual irregularities, I would have never agreed to have this awful drug in my body. I am furious that now my body is all screwed up from Kenalog..we are trying to get pregnant and that is an impossibility at this time because of my irregular cycle. I called Bristol Meyers and they said it should go back to normal in a few months. This is a very very strong steroid and patients should be advised of the possible side effects. I will never ever take this drug again...

I just read the entire list of side effects on the Bristol Myers Squibb site, and now i realize that Kenalog is to blame for some of my other problems.
I've been suffering from insomnia since the shot i recieved 2 weeks ago, also acne, increased appetite, along with the menstual irregularities. I havn't noticed the indentation on the injection site yet, but that's not to say i wont have that problem as well.

I had a shot of kenalog in my knee for a problem I have when I run long distances. I was told that it would have a 50% chance of helping but it could prevent surgeries. He never mentioned side effects. After the injection- my period came a week late and lasted three days longer than normal. Four days after it ended I got another period. This one was accompanied by severe headaches(I never get headaches) This period lasted another nine days. I went for my follow up and questioned the doctor about it and he said he must have forgotten to mention it but that it can cause some hormone irregularities but that it should go away within a month. I have been so exhuasted and barely able to function. It was five days since my last period and now I got another one today! I am furiouse because I was trying to get pregnant! Now I am freaking out because I am seeing on this sight how long this can really last!
After all of us have had these same problems you think we would be able to sue the company. What can we do becuase I'm on board if you all want to have a class action law suit. How do we start it?

It has been seven months since I had a one time Kenalog injection for a Sinus Infection. The constant Menstrl bleeding which was non-stop for the first two months when to three periods a month, then two and now back to normal. The leg cramps have slowed down as well as the headaches(I think they were from the menstrl irregularities, hormonal) I still have a dent in my left hip at the site of the injection. My doctor said the indent was from the shot and said that it shouln't have happened after one shot. He sent me for all kinds of tests for the bleeding and they came back negative for everything. I recently went back to the doctors office for something minor and asked the nurse practioner about the side effects that I had and she said that they can most certainly come from that Kenalog Injection. Bristol Myers also confirmed that all the side effects that I had are listed on their insert for the drug. I wish I had known this. I wonder what else will creep up? This drug seems to cause extreme hormonal reactions in some people. I am not a complainer and hardly ever go to the doctors. This is just so wrong! I was specifically told that there were no side effects with this shot when it was administered. I wish something could be done about this.

I was on Yasmin 2 different times. After 6 months of being on the pill, I ended up in ICU with acute Gastrointestenal bleeding with no known cause. I went off Yasmin-no more problems. I went back on it 4 years later (not knowing the connection) 6 months after taking it ended up in the hospital with acute GI bleeding. This time I stayed on the pill, still not putting it together. Then my real nightmare began. I almost died from Anemia, I kept having boughts of bleeding, anxiety depression, hypoglycemia, you name it. I wanted help from the DR.'s no help. I wanted help getting off the pill because I was scared. I finally took the plunge, and it was like going to HELL. I would not wish this on any living thing. I became so overtaken with either deep depression, or anxiety, it is only by the grace of God and a few friends and family I am here today. I spent thousands on tests 4x in the hospital, couldn't work, or work out for the pat 3 years. I use to run 3-5 miles a day, and work physically about 6-8 hours everyday. They say the fact I was so healthy saved my life. I have since gained 25 lbs, had Fibromyalgia symptoms, chronic Fatigue symptoms, adrenal gland problems, and never have had another normal period, and now it is gone. No sex drive, vaginal irregularities, lost my hair (it grew back thank God), still have issues with unknown causes. It has been 3.5years since I started the pill, and 2 since I went off it, This pill is straight from Hell. I believe it is ruining women. We need to unite to get it off the market. Has anyone else had their life severily damaged from taking this pill. Words can not express enough the horror I have experienced and the continued pain emotionally, physically and mentally I must go through as I believe and hold faith for full recovery. Let your Doctors know what is happening so they will stop pushing this evil drug. PB

I have been on Toprol for over 2 years now. Started off with 25mg, then 50 mg and now the Dr. wants me to take 100 mg a day. I haven't started the 100 mg. yet. I don't think I will take it. I experience palpatations and racing heart beats.
I just happened upon this forum and now I understand why I have extemely cold hands at times, numbness and tingling and unexplainable pain in my right knee and hip. My eyes are either dry or so watery I cannot see. I am tired and lethargic during the day, but can't sleep through the night without waking up. My brain feels like mush.
I am currently on a King of Hearts monitor and have sent several transmissions in. Although I have experienced many irregularities in my heart beat, they tell me it is "normal". Okay, I wonder, why am I taking Troprol and spending $35 a month for my co-pay if nothing is wrong?
I am frustrated and don't know what to do.

I've been taking Yasmin for almost a month. Although I am sad and depressed all the time, I just connected it with that my serious relationship with my boyfriend is gradually, painstakingly coming to an end. I will be leaving for college in a couple of weeks and am sad to leave family and friends. These are all things I would naturally be upset about, but my mother tells me that there's a constant cloud over my head. I've read other postings and can relate to others' symptoms. I am just sad all the time. I leave my tv on at nights so I can have some other kind of "noise". I can usually fall asleep in 10-15 mintutes, but lately when I'm lying down in complete silence, I analyze everything I'm depressed about (namely my boyfriend) to where I can't go to sleep for hours. I had nausea for the first week or so. I found that if I ate breakfest before hand, it was better. Speaking of food, I have no appetite. I actually become nauseated from not eating, but when I go to eat, I feel like I'll throw up if I take a second bite. Clothes are fitting better, but I have no energy from not eating.
The same life routine irregularities (sp?) are what happens when I become depressed about certain issues, so it's difficult for me to differentiate what's natural for me and what is caused by the pill. Insight anyone???

Since taking Propafenone for atrial fibrillation, I've been having horrendous headaches during sex. Two heart doctors and my regular physician say there's no correlation between the two. I've had MRI, MRA, and CT, none of which showed irregularities. Anyone else had this reaction? I'm male.
