i went on Yasmin for probably about 4-5 months. i have irritable bowel and asthma and noticed they both got SO much worse on Yasmin. it crept up on me so i wasn't sure at first, but noticed my symptoms improved when i got off it.

my skin was also affected. i had more breakouts and had skin rashes and itchiness all over my body-- mostly confined to my trunk. i am a runner so the breathing troubles bothered me the most and at first i attributed them to the pollen in the springtime. once i looked at the list of side effects i realized having asthma i probably should have never been put on this drug!

i have never had very regular periods and always had light periods and with the Yasmin i had heavy periods. now, two years later, i'm considering another kind of birth control and this experience has made me believe there is none out there that could work for me. this list has made me think otherwise. i'm hoping to try something with a lower dose... has anyone had a good experience with another type of birth control? i am thinking alesse could be a good one, but a little wary to try anything especially after this last experience.

I took Zofran after a terrible Migraine with severe vomiting. I was given it in the hospital and then I was on it for about 4 days. I was constipated the whole time but didn't realize it was a side effect. Now over two weeks later I'm still constipated and I've been off the Zofran for the 1 1/2 weeks. I have to take this Senna-gen lax every evening in order to go to the bathroom. If I don't take the Senna then I don't go. I've tried going off it for 2 days at a time. I get a great vegetarian diet...which is full of fiber. I'm very unhappy that I still have constipation. In fact, my doctor said that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome now. Please help if you have any feedback. L

My experience with Yasmin was very similar to the one posted by "vpompon19" on October 26th 2007.

I took Yasmin for only a month. The day after I started, I had those symptoms:

- Nausea that last day and night
- Complete loss of appetite.
- Extreme fatigue
- Sleeping over 8 hours and still feeling tired
- Brain fog - inability to concentrate on anything
- Irritability
- Hypersensibility - I would cry for nothing...
- Feeling extremely nervous and nauseous when I had only half a green tea!
- Heartburn (I suffer from acid reflux but it was almost gone until I started Yasmin)
- Depression

When i stopped, I had the most painful period I've had for at least 8 years.
Plus I immediately started an urinary tract infection (which I never had before).

Two weeks later I experienced unbearable back pain. The doctor told me I had a herniated disk but I didn't force or had any trauma so I was sceptical. It turned out to be mononucleosis!

So thank you not Yasmin for having wasting at least 2 months of my life (so far), not mentioning the fear I had a more serious disease... No more birth control pill for me ever. I took another brand (Marvelon) for 7 years, then I stopped one year and my Irritable Bowel Syndrome disappeared. But my acne came back (even though I took Accutane when I was 15 - which I'm sure is the cause of my uncontrollable acid reflux).

I found out there are natural, safer and cheaper contraceptive methods. Don't wait until your doctor or the education system tell you about them because you'll be dead already.

I started Yaz about 3 weeks ago and stopped it after only a week. Two days into taking the pill I experienced flu like symptoms which for me typically includes shaky, vomiting, hot/cold flashes, & weakness and lasted for a day. At the time I thought it was the flu until I began experiencing similar feelings after another 4 days and the following day I had a sore stomach, similar to a stomach ache but it wasn't my typical stomach ache (I have irritable bowel problems and have to carefully watch my diet so I know a stomach ache when I get one!). Needless to say I stopped taking it after it was ruining my family reunion and everyone told me to stop. Only two days after stopping it and after only being on it for a week, I got my full blown period again only it was much darker and much heavier than normal, and lasted just as long as my normal period. It threw me all out of wack as I had JUST ended my period when I began taking it only the week before. Now that I have been off of it for a few weeks I have noticed my nipples are extremely sensitive--which they never have been like this before..I am blaming it on the Yaz. Will start new BC pill shortly...Hopefully you all have better luck than I did, I was excited until I got pretty much all the side effects! Haha!

I am taking zegerid 40mg around 10 p:m for 2 years. Zegerid used to work well.
Recently I have started to take ditropan-xl 5mg, zocor- 10 mg, a statin drug, and coumadin. I am having frequent bouts of diarrhea with terrible cramps.
I wonder if I am having stomach side effects from my new medications. I have irritable bowel and gerd I have been instructed to take all my meds before I go to bed. Thank you for your reply sw

I started on Levoxyl about 3 months ago. I noticed my hot flashes (I'm menopausal) get worse, then I started getting horrible irritable bowel, nervousness, tingling, headaches, and mood lability. I have been off it a week. The symptoms are a little better but still persist. Anyone know how long these might last? I will not use it again, for sure. If anything, I will use Armour Thyroid or something more natural. Any suggestions.

I've been taking Avapro for HBP for years with few side effects. But my MD suggested I try LiSINopril so I could save money, since Avapro is fairly expensive. After taking Lisinopril for a week, I thought I was having a very bad episode of a condition I have called Irritable Bowel. I thought that maybe my underwear were too binding, so I went to Wal-Mart and got a larger size underwear. When I got home, even the XL underwear were binding! Then I realized that my whole lower abdomen was extremely swollen, as well as the pain in my lower abdomen. That's when I went online and saw that abdominal pain and swelling is a side effect. This stuff is poison, I agree! I'm stopping it tonight!

I have panic attacks and irritable bowel. Ativan has been a life saver for me. It not only relaxes my stomach muscles so I can eat, it calms me also. One must be careful when taking ativan. It has been documented to be habit forming.

I started taking Yasmin four months ago. I've been on and off the pill for YEARS and other than Yasmin, I've only taken Ortho Novum. My only issues with Ortho Novum were breast tenderness, weight gain and my boobs got bigger by at least 1/2 a cup size. Ok, to many of you and my boyfriend, what's the problem? But when you've already been breast blessed, you don't need any help from a BCP.

After the first week on Yasmin, I thought I better look into the side effects because I was having some serious irritable bowel. Read lots on this site about women who had similar experiences. I won't go so far to say no one should take this pill or it should come off the market, but for me, this pill is not right. It hasn't helped acne really and the biggest side effect for me is raging, unpredictible, and painful moments of extreme bowel discomfort. That's the clean version. The first week of the first month was bad, but then no reoccurance. The next month was only a day or two near the end. The third month was back to the same I expeienced in month one. I decided I'd give it a try for one more month, but into my second week now and still have had a couple of episodes. I'm a healthy woman, I've not changed my diet at all or my exercise routine. The only thing that has changed in my life is the addition of Yasmin. Even if these symptoms were to start to subside, I'm so nervous and anxious about being more than 20 feet from a restroom within 2 hrs of taking my pill that I don't think I can continue with this. I keep pepto in my drawer at work and in my purse at all times. That's a crazy way to live just for a BCP. So I'm going to try something else. Good luck to the rest of you.
