My 5 yr old daughter has been on Singulair off and on for over 2 yrs. It has helped with asthma during the cold season. However, she has the itchy feet / hands and mood swings that have been described. She was on Zyrtec and that made her intolerable. I had stopped giving her the Singulair while we were pursuing an alternative therapy and her feet improved. I never connected it as I thought the therapy was helping. Now with winter colds coming, I've been giving it to her more regularly and she's itchy again. I couldn't understand the itchiness returning because she's on a 3 week elimination diet for her allergies soy & corn. She should have been improving. Maybe she should be on the Singulair elimination diet?

All I can say is thank you ladies for posting all of this. I was on Nuva ring for almost 2 years. my boyfriend complained I was getting worse and worse in terms of my anger and mood swings. He called me a monster. Then days after my 20th birthday I experienced lots of itchiness and pain after sex so I thought it was a yeast infection. When I did not respond to over the counter meds I went to the hospital to get testing for STDS. When all the test came back negative I went back to my regular doctor two weeks later. Again, I was tested and a month later tested again. No one could figure out why I was having burning and itchiness with no other symptoms and all my STD test negative. Finally I gave up the ring and have been symptom free now for nearly 6 months. To this day the situation plagued me because the doctor swore I couldn't experience this from the Nuva ring. I spent a whole summer in pain because of this. Now I am birth control free but my boyfriend of three years and I would love to add to our family.

Hi all,
I've been taking it for a month now and for the last 2 weeks I,ve been having nightmares every single night, severe musle pain in my legs, my arms feel weak and shaky, my mouth and nose are extremely dry. I have itchy skin - the itchiness attacks are so bad - I can't control them, and also I have very strange headaches -at the back of my head and neck - not just a muscle tension, migrating all over the scalp.
I don't have an asthma, but I had a very bad sinus and ear infection, and was feeling dizzy, so my doctor advised me to give it a try. Singulair has eliminated those symptoms in 2 days, but the side effects are even worser.

I have been on NuvaRing for 4 months. I was previously on DepoProvera for 10 years, but due to bone loss, osteopenia, had to get off it. I had no side effects with Depo, no periods, no PMS, no problems.
I gained 12 pounds the first 2 months on NR. My weight continues to climb, even though I exercise and eat well. My breasts are swollen and sore constantly. I have excessive discharge, itchiness, and burning. I have also noticed I have gas more often.
I do not take the ring out for a week for a period, I just insert a new ring after 3 weeks and have experienced no bleeding. I have NOT experienced any of the other symptoms, such as depression, anxiety, mood swings, headaches, which is surprising since I have been estrogen-deficient for 10years and am suddenly on it.
Overall, my symptoms seem minimal compared to others' experiences, so maybe everyone is different. But it does scare me that these symptoms are possible in the future.

PROS:
easy to use, convenient
only have to take it once/3 weeks
big boobs!
no period

CONS:
weight gain
breast soreness
yeast infections, itchiness
excessive discharge
gas
cost $35 every 3 weeks (my Depo was free)

Oh my god!!! I just read through all the posts looking for someone else with this issue! After using the NR for a few months, i developed this horrible back pain that kept me awake at night tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. I also had a tightness in my chest and although i did not develop a rash, i felt itchiness all over my body. I started having flu like symptoms and wondered if I developed adult onset allergies since I never had them before. I even went back to my GYN and told him and he made me feel like I was crazy...I had stopped the NR for a month and then restarted and the back pain returned...So, i stopped again...strangely enough though, the pain remained for another month...I did also develop a severe migraine headache a few days before I had to remove the ring each month. I tried switching to an oral contraceptive but the naseau always stops me from taking it. Reluctantly, I went back to the NR this month. So far, I have naseau daily which comes in waves, bloating, increased discharge, fatigue...I feel pregnant...just figure my body just needs to get used to it again. Not ready for another baby so don't feel i have much choice right now. Any suggestions?

I was perscribed Sulfamethoxazole for MRSA. This is my list of complications so far:

CANNOT FREAKIN SLEEP!
itchiness
confusion
some memory loss
moodiness
loss of appetite
jitteriness

yeah..some of them are listed as side effects...but most of them are not,but I found from websites like this, that several people experience side effects not listed.

I'm not worried. I'm just glad my infection is going away. I just don't like not feeling myself. It's sort of like Lex Luther...when he "goes crazy" for a few months on Smallville.

I've been on the NR for 4 months and was really happy with it.... A little discharge and I knew it was from the ring because I don't ever have discharge but it was not bad at all. This past month I started having the most horrible LOWER BACK PAIN. I started mattress shopping and ALMOST bought a $4000.000 mattress to fix the problem.. Then it came time to remove the NR and within 1 minute (or less) of removing my back pain completely went away and I'm again sleeping like a baby, when before I was up most the night with lower back pain. I haven't seen lower back pain as a side effect so I just wanted to post to see if anyone might have the same problem. Not sure if it was just in the wrong spot and I should try again this next month or not..

Oh thank you people. I just signed in here today, at the advice of my husband- to check out Toprol- and see if any one else has had similar side effect. OMG, Everyone is saying the same thing- dizziness- dullness- no motivation, no energy- heart palpitations- some one mentioned their older mother has had vivid dreams, and you thought it might be Alzheimers- NO! I have had vivid extremely busy, cunfusing dreams, like I'm running from place to place-talking to all sorts of people- and it makes me wonder if that's why I also feel so exhausted and achy from head to toe every day- and never have left my house once all summer- which is so unlike me. I ,too thought I was in a depression- but after reading everyone else's replies- I see we are all in the same boat. I am 72- worked in the nursing profession, until I ruptured two discs in my spine and got nerve damage in my right leg- so I do know quite a bit about medical care. This med was given to me by a past Doctor which I did not trust- and finally changed Doctors- I just decided today- I am D.C.ing this med. Which is what the Dr. says when he wants it discontinued!! I will see my new Cardiologist-internist, and will advise him I can not take this any longer. Has anyone else had excessive itchiness, and flaming redness of the skin after taking this at night? I have severel times- and was taking a shower at 3 in the morning, I was itching and scratching and red all over- and clawing myself bloody- so I showered and used this OLAY CREME RIBBONS, WHICH LEAVES A SORT OF CREAMY LOTION ON THE SKING- IT HELPED SOME WHAT! Didn't mean to capitalize- I have no stock in Olay- Hah! I hope to fe4el much better in the morning by not taking my Toprol tonight- and maybe I won't have such radically busy, busy dreams. Thanks for listening. Ms Nannerbananner

I actually enjoyed being on it for a year with no side effects. Then the side effects started creeping up on me - but a very slow and insidious onset. I was increasingly more fatigued and was getting lots of "tension" headaches. Got increasingly more dry and itchy in the vaginal area - it got to the point of being non-stop and driving my crazy on a daily basis. I was using aquafore on a daily basis. I also had a rash at my panty line which was very annoying. I also started getting what felt like hot flashes. After 2 years of being on it the side effects were pretty bad but I still didn't link it to nuva ring, especially because I was complaining about symtoms to my gynocologist and she never said it could be side effects - pretty bad, huh? My weirdest symptom was feeling very "hot" in the uterus - almost like there was a fever in my whole uterine area and a lot of sweating in the groin area. I also had what other people described as feeling uncomfortable in their own skin. It also completely killed my sex drive. At three years I took myself off it because I was starting to get scared that it was because of the Nuvaring. Within days I started feeling better - not normal yet, but better. Within a couple of month almost all symptoms had subsided. The dryness and itchiness took the longest to subside but eventually did. I felt like myself again physically and sexually. Getting off Nuva Ring was the best thing I ever did. I only wish I did it sooner. I am very angry that it is so heavily promoted by gynocologists and that there was not more research done on it first. I have been telling people absolutely not to use it. I only hope it didn't do anything really drastic like affect my fertility. Did anyone have any fertility problems from using Nuva Ring??

I have been on the Nuvaring for about 3 years, i just recenlty got off the ring because i felt like i needed to give my body a break for a while. I am seeing a doctore because i have had severe headaches, i exercise 3-5 days a week, and had to actually stop beause the headaches were so severe. I am always exhausted, i wake up in the morning after sleeping 9-12 hours feeling like i don't want to get out of bed. I realized after getting off of it for about two weeks that the nuvaring may be causing my sypmtoms. But i also feel crazt off of it, i have been extremely emotional and feel like my boyfriend of 6 years does not care and he does! It is taking a toal on our relationship i am only 24 years old and should not have all of these sypmtoms. I also have experienced dryness, itchiness, discharge on the ring. Also no sex drive whatsoever I really love this method of BC it was so easy, i always forgot to take the pill, and i tried the patch but felt it made me crazy. I have no idea what to do now that i am off of bc because i do not want to get pregnant but I feel like my hormones were controlled while i was on it and i don't want to feel crazy. Any advice?

I've been on Nuva for about two months. So far the only side-effects I've had is lightheadedness... and it may not be related to the ring. I'm wondering, though, why some of you have had bad experiences with it, and yet you remain on it for 2,3,4 years???

I was recently diagnosed with endometriosis. For the past 6 monthss i've been dealing with cramps so bad I had to be on percocet for weeks at a time just to be able to get through my days. After my laparoscopy two weeks ago my gyn suggested that I get on bc to help supress all fo the cramps and the cysts. As of right now i'm on day 7 and I'm miserable. I cry all the time and snap at my fiance constantly. I've been eating twice as much as i used to. I'm constantly exhausted and sex? What sex? No sex drive what so ever. It's completely gone. Not to mention I'm to tired to even bother anymore. And vaginal itching is very uncomfortable. No yeast infections, just itchiness. I'm calling my doc today to see if there's another bc that would make me a little less depressed. Last night I actually thought of suicide.
Ladies, you know your bodies the best. If something is not right, tell you doctors. Bug them until they listen and treat you properly. You do not need to deal with symtoms like this just because our docs got free samples from the drug companies. Tell your doctors what's going on with you. and good luck to all of you.

I have been taking Advair for 6 months and also received a set of precautions from my doctor as well. The most important thing he said was to rinse your mouth and gargle with WARM water NOT cold water several times after your dose. That will prevent the hoarseness many people experience. The medication has a steroid component and is very effective treating your lung inflamation. Mouth rinsing keeps this from entering other areas of your body. When you take a drug, there is always some tradeoff. I believe for me that whatever side effects I have are minor compared to the benefit of being able to breathe freely again. I have absolutely no hoarseness , but have some itchiness but I had that before I took this drug. If you follow the directions I believe this drug can work for you.

My wife took only one dose of Vi-Q-Tuss before bed as prescribed. Very shortly after taking it she started feeling itchy all over the place. The itchiness got progressively worse and then she started becoming delirious and started twitching uncontrollably. It was then that we decided to go to the ER. They gave her an IV with a mega-dose of Benadryl and Pepcid as well as some serious Steroids in order to stabilize her heart rate (which was very high) and to help the itching to subside. She described it as torture. Even with the IV medications and the prescribed antihystamines and steroids, she still suffered from an ever-constant itching sensation. It helped her cough, but it did so at a hell of a price. This stuff is NASTY. DO NOT TAKE IT.

I'm 15 and had a hurt left testicle and was prescribed Sulfameth. I took two tablets a day for ten days. On day ten, I started to get red spots on my arms and chest, then around other areas of my body. Right now I'm going to try Benadryl to alleviate the itchiness. At least my testicular pain is gone, and I have a week off of school to let the spots go away.

I was on Prednisone for 3 weeks (3/daily, week 1; 2/daily week 2 and 1/daily, week 3 -- I forget the dosage) for some exzema on my hands. It took care of the exzema but made me very irritable and depressed.
I've also had some intermittent weird rash/itchiness the insides of my elbows & legs, on my wrisits and the backs of my hands. I've been off of it for a week now, but the rash seems to be a bit worse and coming more frequently. I'm not sure if it from the Prednisone or not, but that is the only thing that is different in my life.... has anyone else every had this happen to them?

- decreased sex drive

- discomfort during sex, and burning sensation afterwards--despite removing device before sex

- break-through bleeding

- after 2 1/2 months --> itchiness and skin irratation on the vaginal lips perhaps this is due to increased release of hormones due to being in the tropics (hot weather) and going in a hot tub multiple days in a row

I'm going back to a low dose pill today.

I began taking ultracet for undiagnosed backpain a little over a year ago. I'm over 6 foot tall and weigh over 200 pounds so I take 2 pills before each work day. It has been a miracle drug for me in helping with not only the back pain but all sorts of pain that comes with being a waitress. Unfortunately, Ultracet makes me very hyper, talkative and somewhat euphoric and I can no longer go to work without it. I never take it on my days off and I believe that when I take it for a string of days in a row that my body stops producing as much adrenaline and I feel very tired and slightly depressed. It also causes a lot of itchiness. Never mix this drug with cold and flu medicine, it made be very ill! I am not bothered enough to stop taking this medication but to potential users be wary of its potential side effects.

I just started taking the Yasmin pill for 2 weeks now and the things is I though that it was just me and not the pill. But the dizziness, itchiness, blarred vision and the sensitive stomach aches including the vomiting and a whole lot more made me visit the web to read up more on the pill. As this was the only thing that I've changed in the last 2 weeks. I came across this site and it shocked me. The reason is that I now know for a fact that it is because of the pill. Everything I read here is what I feel. So I AM STOPPING AND WILL NOT CONTINUE FURTHER. What shocks me even more is that the doctors claim that this is such a "good" pill to take. Don't they know. Why do the prescribe it then.

Thanks for the site - It think I will be "normal" again.

My daughter (now 4 1/2) has been on Singulair for two years. It has completely controlled her asthma but I was unaware of the serious side effects.

She had trouble sleeping after taking it. Looking back now she had what I would call "night terrors" where she woke up crying with vivd details about a dream. At the time I did not connect the two.

Due to the sleeplessness we now give it to her in the morning.

She also complians of itchiness, which we thought was sensitive skin. Now that I am connecting the dots seems like this only would occur right after taking the meds.

Lately, she has had severe behavioral problems. I am now wondering about hallucinations with some of her complaints about the "noise" etc.. and not being able to control what she does.

I was this close to seeing a behavioral psychologist but looked into the Singulair instead. The company's website even lists these side effects. When I called the doctor he WAS NOT EVEN AWARE of them.

We are off it now and the improvements are immediate. Today was her first smiley face day at preschool in a couple of weeks. It saddens me that she (and the rest of the family) may have had to suffer needlessly.

Be very careful and watch for these symptoms.

I experienced a small aount of itchiness on my body, but concentrated mostly in my face and nose. The itching was distracting enough for me to not notice being in pain, but was not very effective otherwise. Also, noticed a slight ringing in my ears and restlessness. Dosages do not last 6 hours as prescribed. Discuss your dosages immediately with your physician if you feel you are not being treated properly. For those having migraines, the narcotic should be helping, not hurting. You should probably be on another medication if you are experiencing poor side effects and you run the risk of addiction if you continue to take the medication without it helping you.

I started taking Yasmin 5 months ago after a leg swelling that I thought was caused by another BC. For the past 3 weeks or so I have been experiencing itchiness like mad right before or after my period. I am getting married in less than two months and my fiance thinks there is something wrong with me because I have absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. He was very worried that I didn't want to marry him anymore. I knew that wasn't the case, but couldn't stand seeing him worrying so much. So, today I did some searches and found this information. It all makes since, moodiness, itching, lack of sex drive. This little pill has been making me crazy at a time that I should be the happiest. I am going to the OB in a couple weeks and getting off these crazy pills.
