Jaundiced symptoms and conditions

It was used on my wife during a minor surgical procedure at an outpatient surgical clinic attached to a hospital. She had broken her arm and was having a pin removed from the arm. The orthopedic surgeon said they were going to give her a "light" anesthesia and the surgery would take 15 minutes and I could "take her home in an hour". After the surgery she was completely paralyzed for 3 hours. The nurses said she had a "negative reaction to MIVACRON". Several hours later the clinic released her. After 2 days at home she became very jaundiced. We took her back to the hospital where she was admitted to the ICU. She had an unknown hepatitus. Her liver failed and a few days later she was brain dead. She died on New Years Eve 2005. The Death Certificate lists the cause of death as liver failure and probable toxic reaction to anesthesia. The pathologist hasn't completed his report and his bottom line is my wife died from chronic liver failure. It is noted she was only 60 years old and in very good health. After taking 2 pills for 2 weeks for a sinus infection I became very ill. I had migraines, severe nauseousness, became completely jaundiced, had night sweats and vertigo. The drs. could not determine what was wrong w/ me b/c I was no longer on the medication. It had built up in my system and damaged my liver. My liver enzymes are highly elevated from this dangerous drug.

I started taking lisinopril 10mg after a full physical revealed nothing othere than slightly elevated BP. At my 3 weeks follow-up it was increased to 20mg. I had developed a dry cough and the general feeling of tiredness all day. At 6 wks HCTZ was added due to no significant drop in my BP. Exactly one week after starting the HCTZ I was back in the Dr's office with horrible flu symtoms and sent immediately to the emergency room. I was admitted in acute liver failure, jaundiced, and near coma elevated ammonia levels. I was fortunate to have a GI specialist called in that had seen this exact scenerio in a former patient and started testing and treatment right away.
He stated that this is a documented occurence to Lisinopril with the combination of HCTZ in at least 25 patients.
I was hospitalized for 13 days and have been out of work for 7 weeks. I have gallbladder surgery scheduled for next week and have a treatment plan established for the next year to cover the damage to my liver, kidneys, and bladder.
My recover is progressing and my liver is recovering rapidly. I am not able to take any medicaitons at this time due to the liver and will start treating the other organs as soon as the liver functions are within normal range.
I would make sure that anyone thinking of taking Lisinopril know the possible effects and follow up very closely with the Dr. about any symptoms.
