I felt like i was going to die! I paced back and forth like a restless tiger in a cage, nervous, panicky, jittery, and restless. I felt like I was choking on flem and I was ready to go to the hospital! As for sleep ...good luck with that. I finally fell asleep at 3:30 AM and was up by 6:30 AM! This has been going on for two days now. I called my Doctor and he said that he has prescribed this medication to thousands of patients and never has heard of a reaction like this. My doctor told me to stay off of the meds for two days to see how I feel. I'm afraid to take these meds or anything else again.

I was prescribed to take Meprozine after knee surgery. Side effects were very mild compared to other pain medications I have taken in the past. The sleepiness helped me through several days of pain and I think the rest actually helped with healing. I had been taking Hydrocodone for knee pain. Hydrocodone seems to keep me awake, so I was glad for the opportunity to sleep. I felt a little jittery the first day or two but the jitters wore off after the 8 hours of drug effects wore off. I would take Meprozine again but after reading these accounts from others I would be more aware of how it seems to affect me.

This past week has in large part been spent under the painful influence of a potent and fairly common prescription drug that I didn't need to take. I want you to be aware of the possibility that this kind of thing happening to you or your loved one. We see the prescription drug commercials and their disclaimers on TV and are amused that anyone would take a drug with a long list of horrible side effects for some rather minor ailment. And you always think it happens to some one else.
On Sept. 19, I went to a local dermatologist to have her look at a very small rash on my arm and a small cyst on my back. She extracted the "skin cells" in my back after using a local anesthetic and sent me home with 2 prescriptions, one for a lotion for the rash and, I thought, an antibiotic that the doctor had mentioned for the extraction. I had only the prescription for the oral medicine filled as I had also been given a small sample size of lotion and the area of rash was no more than a 2 inch square size.
On the 20th I began taking the pills from a large card with the dosage marked for day and night doses in decreasing amounts. By the the 25th I was jittery and miserable from the inside out, could hardly breathe, or talk, my muscles were all tight and tense and hurting, my stomach was upset but I could hardly get enough food, I was completely without any energy at all. By the next day it was all I could do to get out of bed and shower, I certainly could not work or function normally, in addition to the other symptoms, my body ached, head ached, not to mention how mean I felt. I stopped taking the meds after the morning dose on the 27th, when it occurred to me that this was not the result of "stress" from taking my mother on a 6 hour trip to see her brother in hospice care on the 23rd for two days. The next day I called the pharmacy to find out what I had been prescribed and they told me Dexpak, steroid. The symptoms have continued through the next days and have begun to slowly and slightly subside, but as I write this on the 30th I am still far from feeling like myself and my eyes have become cloudy, making it difficult to see. I made it to church this morning, but that's all I have been able to do since last week.
It is astounding to see the list of extreme reasons to prescribe this potent drug especially for a tiny rash on an otherwise very healthy person. Then the list of side effects, of which I have virtually every one, frightens me more and my concern is that they may not all be reversable. There are several things I didn't do along this path of taking the meds that I could have avoided all this if I had not just trusted that they were antibiotics (which I never got), and actually read the material they give you with the prescription when you pick it up. Even so, it begs the question, why would this have been prescribed in the first place?

I've only taken three pills so far and am experiencing a lot of lower back pain. My prescription is one pill twice a day for seven days. I couldn't eat my dinner last night. I also had HALF of a cup of coffee this morning and was wound up for at least four hours. I felt like swearing off caffeine for the rest of my life. What a terrible feeling. If you feel jittery on this medication... DO NOT drink coffee!

I have been on 10mg prednisone, starting with 60 mg/day down to 20 mg/day for a month. At first I felt wonderful because my back was out and this took away the pain. However, now that I'm at the end of the regimen, I have started to experience the following: My entire mouth (lips, tongue, throat, inside of cheeks) feels almost numb--kind of like it's coated with wax. It's a VERY disturbing feeling. A few times I thought I was going to choke because it's also accompanied by extreme dry mouth. I am also developing a moon face, and have gained 5 pounds in the last 3 days. I am jittery and woozy feeling. I have finished taking it, and now I wonder how long it will be before I am "normal" again--or if there's anything I can take or do to help speed the recovery.

I am experiencing extreme dizziness, fatigue, nausea, cramps etc. I had an experience at the hair salon. I became very jittery. There was a flutter in my chest the room began to spin. I became very hot and sweat major bullets. I had to fight to keep from fainting and was sick to my stomach all evening. I asked the doctor what was going on? Of course this can not be possibly from the Yasmine I have taken for 8 years. Yesterday I was so dizzy I had to stay in all day. I have not slept through the night for a week. I am so glad I found this blog. I will be taking it with me to my doctor appointment Monday.I have only been off the pill for 1 week.

After reading so many of everyone’s stories, I feel I got off easy, but not without some agony. I developed a double whammy of acute bronchitis and pleurisy in my left lung. If you are not familiar with pleurisy, it feels like hit with a baseball bat in your ribs each time you attempt to take a normal breath. I was completely uninformed of the condition and it is now burned in my memory forever. I was prescribed azithromycin and Prednisone for a month. I started with two 20mg (40mgtotal) tabs for 7 days and then tapered off in the following manner. 1 ½ tabs for 7 days, 1 tab for 7days and then ½ a tab for the last 7 days. I have read many of the users who have been on Prednisone for years at a time and my heart goes out to each and every one of you. I experienced a large number of side effects for being on it for such a short period. My wife was ready to attach the ole cinder block to my ankles and drop me in the lake, but she stuck through it. The first side effects began within the first week. My appetite went through the stratosphere, my heart felt like it was going to erupt out of my chest on some nights and finally, my memory just went to (for lack of a better work) shit. After coming home from the grocery store on multiple occasions, I left the house key in the key hole on the outside, only to find it the next morning on my way out the door. My short term memory was just misfiring constantly. There are too many funny stories to tell. For some odd reason, I did not gain near as much weight as I should have given the mass quantity of food I ingested. The total weight gain was only around seven or eight pounds. The most prominent side effect was my mood swings. I am a laid back person my nature, but not for that 30 day period. I had to make a conscious effort to not put myself in a position to disagree with another individual. When it did occur, it was just not a pretty site. A few of the other side effects were lack of sleep and profuse sweating. I would wake up every morning and my pillow was drenched. I live in Austin, Texas, so the AC was pegged and 67 degrees and no one was allowed to touch the thermostat without grave consequences. I broke out the winter pajamas for the kids and my wife wrapped up in multiple layers of clothing, while I was spread eagle under the ceiling fan (Highest setting of course) in my birthday suit, and was still only the in the moderate comfort range. More side effects included swelling of my ankles and hands. I was not on it long enough to get the infamous moon face or the hump on the back of the neck. The side effects after stopping the dosage were no less entertaining. I took my last dose seven days ago. The three main effects have been rashes on my ankles and under my arms, severe energy loss and heartburn. The worst of it all has been my energy level, or the lack of. My energy level crashed so hard I have had to literally peel myself out of bed each morning. If I did not have a two year old daughter and a four year old son, I would probably still be asleep right now. It has been getting a little easier each day. I have started walking each morning now and hopefully this will end soon. I have also been drinking large amounts of water. That has seemed to help me out. The heartburn was easily treatable with some Pepcid AC. I hope my experience offers some solace to those in a similar situation and fair warning to those who are about to embark on this medication.

I've only been on lipitor for about 4 1/2 weeks now, but noticed almost immediately that I feel jittery all day until evening, when the dosage would likely be wearing off. I've also noticed some slight memory problems and had a couple of dizzy spells today. Does anyone or has anyone had this racing heart feeling on lipitor?? I feel like I drank 2 pots of caffinated coffee...

My doctor prescribe Guaifenex 600/120 for me yesterday. I had sinus pressure, ears and throat itchy and sore, head congestion. I took one pill at 6 pm, about 20 minutes later I could feel my throat and ears feeling better, and the congestion breaking up and draining. However, the stomach pains and cramps, heart racing, and my blood pressure rose to 153/92. I was so restless I only slept from 9 pm to 10:15pm. No matter what I did, the stomach pain wouldn't go away. Drinking extra water, changing positions didn't seem to help. I'm not tried but I feel so jittery, and restless. The medicine works immediately, but there are some serious side effects to consider.

Levaquin caused me to have a seizure.....after being seizure free for many years !!!! The Dr asked me why I didnt tell him I had a seizure disorder? He had just handed me scripts for my seizure meds on them !! Also that was the reason I saw him in the first place. Then he found I had a kidney infection and gave me Levaquin SAMPLES.
I am also feeling jittery, and have had some tremors.
This has me so depressed....he could have given me the package insert to read....then I would not have taken it at all!

Was prescribed Levaquin for ENT infection. On second night felt very jittery and then awoke in bizarre awake/asleep state at end of horrible nightmare convinced that I had murdered my young son and that the police were on the way to pick me up. I lay in bed for half an hour shattered with despair until I heard my son cough over the monitor and I realized all was not real. very disturbing. Just in case I called my Dr. the next day and she confirmed it was likely the Levaquin causing the problem. Stopped the drug; problem ceased. I'm sure the side-effect is rare but it was awful to go through.

I was given Singulair by my doctor to take for severe allergic rhinitus and chronic sinusitis, in addition to the Zyrtec and oral steroids I have been taking. At first, it seemed to help with sinus congestion, but did cause problems with sleeping--nightmares and waking up "jittery" and unable to get back to sleep. Then, after about 3 weeks, I began to experience violent vertigo, to the point of being unable to function. I could barely stand, was nauseated to the point of vomiting, experiencing sweats and hot flashes. I stopped the Singulair today and will see if symptoms improve and post again in a few days.

I've had a HORRIBLE nasty iron taste in my mouth. Tastes like I have morning sickness again but I can't get rid of the taste. YUCK.
Also, I think I had a panic attack yesterday evening. I've never had one before but I couldn't seem to catch my breath and started freaking. It was not an asthma attack, I've had those before. This was different.
I feel jittery and light-headed too.
I don't like this and I'm thinking about stopping the prescript. My sinus infection was not worth this.
I was freaking out wondering what was causing the lightheadedness/difficulty breathing and after reading all the side effects on here I see it's normal. Doctors should warn of all these side effects. I wouldn't have started it.

I took mucofen for bronchitis, and within one hour of taking the pill, my heart was racing (resting heart rate of 95 when I am normally 55-60). I was jittery, anxious, restless, felt just miserable. I didn't take any more of the medicine, but it took a full 24 hours to wear off. I do tend to have very strong reactions to medication, but this was very distressing. Use with caution.

Hi Everyone
Iam still doing not well went back to ER today I know they are sick of me have been 5 times in 6 weeks cant help it the effects are so horrible and scary
I took a quarter of the Lexapro yesterday and a quarter today it scares me too
If any of you knew how holistic I was prior to this
I never took anything at all and was always telling everyone to stop taking what they were taking and go to the health food store.
I dont know what made me takt the BCP.
I think I was weak from the anemia and wasnt thinking clear
Yes I have had my blood drawn 4 times now just today again my iron is up to 12.8 was a 8!
Ferritin is kind of low doctor told me to continue iron daily
My stomach is so nauseated though its hard for me to tolerate it now
Couldnt eat and still losing weight I cant sit down to a meal just biting here and there
Its so scary I have lost my slepp my appetite
The Lexapro is terrifying to me but no one has discussed the serotonin in the brain. Dejay therapist and cotor told her that the serotin and dopamine were altered by the BCP.
Iam not sure how that all works
I dontlike fooling around with chemicals but Dejay said we made that mistake when we took the BCP
Iam making myself sick about the Lexapro and that I took it I felt so jittery from it last night and today
Iam terrified to get hooked on it
The doctor and pharmacist said I can stop it at anytime I feel better in a month or whenever
Iam scared of it scared of not getting better scared of never being the same scared of missing these days of my life scared of losing my mind
Weight yes I too lost so much weight my rigs and chest bones are poking out

Hi Bitter RN and everyone,
Bitter RN, I would love to talk. Maybe we can meet for lunch or something. It would be nice to meet someone that is going through the same thing. My email is******. Email me and I will send you my number.
Reading all these post make me mad, sad, and alittle better that I am not going crazy. We are all suffering. I had the shakiness alot in my arms in the begining. That has gotten better for me. I still have the shortness of breath sometimes. I also have headaches in the back of my head and dizziness. I am ovulating now, so I really feel yucky. I just sit and wonder if I will ever be me again. Now I am on Lexapro and I worry that I will never be me again. I guess as long as I am happy, anything is better than the way I have been feeling. I just wanted to add that I too, had problems with the vitamins. They were making me more jittery and nervous. Which is weird because I never had that happen before the yaz. Does anyone else have the oily hair and painful cystic like pimples in scalp? Just curious. This is annoying me too. I have been having more good days than bad days this week. Yeah i guess! I still get the anxiety alot at night. It just hits me out of no where. If there is anyone that has the oily scalp. Do you have any suggestions on a product that helps. I had never had oily hair.

I am on 200mg of Zoloft. I started it last January, and have slowly increased my dosage to find the correct dosage. I am starting to feel anxiety again, and feel as though your body gets used to the meds, and you continually need a higher dosage. I am jittery, have insomnia, have very vivid dreams, tremors, my eyes tremor when I try to close them and I see flashes of light, when I nod my head down towards my chest it tremors, i am restless, it has made my add worse, it causes slight weight gain, muscle twitching...it worked fine, but the higher the dose, the worse the side effects, and here I am with anxiety again. I suppose I need to switch my meds - maybe try lexapro. But definitely get a new psychiatrist.

Very hot, chills, lightheaded, jittery, anxious, weak, high blood pressure. Have discontinued the drug for two days but still experiencing the side effects. Talked to the pharmacist and was told the drug should be out of my systems in 3 days. Can only hope there is no long lasting residual effect.

I had 750mgs of Levaquin for three days for a sinus
and bronchial problem. Then, because I have fibromyalgia,
and chronic costocondritis, my symptoms worsened--pain
in joints, severe abdominal pain, jittery feelings, interrupted
sleep and a miserable flareup of costocondritis. The sinus and bronchial thing has not yet completely gone away.

Both my daughter and I were on singulair for asthma. I, for three years and my daughter for about 4 months. For the past few months, my 17 year old daughter has been complaining that she is having trouble conentrating in school and has been VERY irritable. She said she feels jittery or squirmy in class which was never a problem before. Because she started the singuair during summer break, she didn't notice the effects. After talking with her doctor, we traced the onslaught of these side effects to when she started the singulair.....I found this site and was amazed!
I have had horrible insomnia, hair loss, hive-like rashes on my face and serious memory and mind problems which have gotten exceedingly worse over the last year.....I would have never associated any of it to the singulair, but have stopped taking it and will see if these symptoms go away.

I've been on some form of Paxil for about 9 years now. Overall, it has been fantastic. My anxiety is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. The only time I've had any trouble with it is if I go off it for a couple of days. The withdrawal is terrible. I get very jittery and shaky and the stomach aches I used to get before I went on this drug come back. I've tried going off it before, but have only manage to get down to 20mgs, which is where I am now. Any lower and I get withdrawal.
Paxil CR, on the other hand, was a bad idea all together. My doctor tried to switch me to that several years ago, and it was not a good experience. I became severely depressed and started having suicidal thoughts. Needless to say, I was put back on regular Paxil and everything went back to normal.
