I took Lipitor for 4 or 5 years. I lost count. I am a type II diabetic and the Dr. threw tons of prescriptions at me. I was convinced all my problems were not the result of Lipitor because my sister's Dr. told her that if you had the muscle pain you would have it all over. Well I got sick of feeling like I was 85 years old. I am 57. I know I am not young anymore, but I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes without having trouble getting up. The right top of my leg hurt so bad some times that I could hardly walk . I also had really bad pain on the right side of my lower leg. I had pains in my neck and shoulders and attributed it to stress at work.Last, but not least I had terrible gas and bloating. The gas was downright embarrasing. Well I took it upon myself to stop taking it. Within several days I felt like a new woman! The minute I woke up one morning I could feel the difference before I even got out of bed. I felt like I had been given my life back.

When I called my Dr. to let her know she wasn't very happy and wanted me to come in. Well now she put me on Crestor and it's been two weeks and the old pains and gas are coming back. I am NOT going to take these terrible statins anymore. They say that the muscle and joint aches are rare, but that is only because most doctors won't listen to their patients. You know your own body better than anyone else.

I have heard that some of the "older" statins are not as powerful and they don't have as many side effects. Has anyone else heard this or had any experience using them?

All I know is that for now I am off statins.

I took this medication for 8 days for a sinus infection. It cleared up my sinus infection but the side effects are frightening and painful. I wish I had read this site prior to agreeing to this drug. Initial onset of side effects were the bad taste, tiredness and muscle aches. The morning after the last dose was when the side effects became the worst. Dizziness upon waking, exhaustion, muscle and joint aches, headache an desire to sleep. I am able to exercise a bit and am going to work but with great diificulty and I am normally an energetc, active and healthy 42 year old female. Please discuss another drug with your doctor before considering taking this one for sinus infection or any other condition.

i so happy to have found this forum. i'm 47 was given 25mg of Toprol XL by doc for high blood pressure approx 9 weeks ago. also have history of panic attacks and rapid pulse rate and have been under alot of stress. first week on med, found my B.P. dropping too low 90's/50's, feeling dizzy and extremely tired in the middle of the day. called doc and was instructed to keep taking it, i'll get used to it, and don't make sudden movements!!! i didn't take his advice and cut pill in 1/2 to 12.5mg. then got extreme muscle and joint aches (a feeling very much like lyme disease) this was accompanied with profuse sweating upon minimal exertion and just no energy and shortness of breath even during an easy moderate walk. i think my heart beat has become more irregular. 2nd month into this low dose noticed chest pains so i tried the pill every other day. this weekend got the scare of a lifetime, however, got out of bed and entire left side (arm leg and foot) were numb. i had a major panic attack. this stuff is poison. i haven't taken a pill since. i'm going to find a different doctor this week (a D.O./MD) and hopefully devise a hollistic approach before i try another drug. ps also weight gain, but that's seems to be the least of the bad side effects.

I have been taking Synthroid for at least 10 years. I am on a very high dosage now175mcg. I have been on a lower dose but my counts were still low so my doctor put my dosage higher. I have been having a tremendous amount of body aches including finger joint aches and right flank problems. I have taken x-rays and various tests to determine what the pain is but I feel that after reading much of the side effects from this web site, much of what I am experiencing is from the Synthroid or Levothyroxin. I now feel that I need to take matters into my own hands and do more natural healing. Many doctors don't connect the dots to determine the real cause of your concerns.

The first of the nightmare was the cramps, aches and pains in my legs. eventually it spread to almost all over my body. I felt like could not wlk across the drive way without struggling. I am 51 years old and, without exageration, I felt like I was 81. It came on so slowly that I did not relate it to the Lipitor at first. A client of mine was the one to happen to mention one of his family member's experience to Lipitor and that's what clued me in. I stopped it that day. I have listed symtpoms below that I am suffering from. At least we can commisurate and e-mail with others who understand and know we are not making this up.

1.) extreme muscle/joint aches and pains
2.) extreme fatigue (falling asleep almost anywhere) loss of energy
3.) weight gain and bloating, especially in stomach area without any increase in food intake.
4.) urinary incontinance
5.) sweling in left leg and ankle
6.) swelling and pain feet
7.) depression
8.) memory loss
9.) loss of mental accuity
10.) increased oiliness of skin and hair
11.) loss of equilibrium
12.) diarrhea
13.) eyesight deteriorated rapidly
14.) irritability
15.) itching ended pretty soon after I stopped taking the Lipitor.

Most of these symptom come and go but someof them seem like they are here to stay. Is there a class action law suit that might prevent this happening to more innocent, unsuspecting people? Is there a list of things people can do to help the symtpoms? Another friend in need - Rebecca

My husband took lisinopril for only two days and had to stop. His side effect symptons included headache, muscle and joint aches, fatique, insomnia, fever and chills, loss of appetite, and THE cough. All of these symptons were severe! It has been two days since he stopped taking lisinopril and he is still flat on his back. I am really amazed that this med ever passed FDA approval, and why any doctor would even prescribe it. I wonder if the docs prescribe it because you can get it at Wal-Mart and a local grocery store pharmacy for only $4.00 per month. Makes me think that the manufacture is trying to push this drug inspite of the horrible side effects by dropping the price, which the insurance companies really love.

I have been taking Lisiniopril for several years now for moderately high blood pressure. (10mg) I have the mild dry throat and cough but was willing to put up with it as opposed to having a stroke. What I did not count on was the fatigue, muscle and joint aches that I have developed along with feeling like I was in fog many days. Aches and discomfort in the middle of the night enough to wake me up and sometimes lasting all day (although it would subside somewhat during the day). In addition I have been having discomfort in my kidneys. I thought I was developing arthritis but was tested by my primary doctor for the gene and did not have it. Why did he not discuss the effects of this drug he had prescribed? Now that I know of other peoples experiences I am stopping this drug and will try harder to control my bp with execise and diet. My research has told me that simple diuretics will control the bp if necessary. These ACE inhibitors are nasty things...stay away!

Weight gain, joint aches, knee pain, insomnia, irritability, depression...and the tests come out okay. So what is wrong with me? Why do I continue to gain so much wieght and the fatigue is horrible! Over the past five years it has snuk up on me but now I am thinking this Singulair is the culprit. I haven't had as much trouble with my asthma ...true...but I feel horrible. I am going back to using Advair as needed and my albuterol as needed. Goodbye Singulair!

I was on Lupron for endo 4 and 5 years ago, two times. The second time without add back therapy. I started migraines at that time and basically had them for 2 years almost non-stop. I am ultra sensitive to estrogen level. I also had joint aches, night sweats, and severe depression. I finally had a hysterectomy two years ago and got rid of my migraines with a nice steady dose of estrogen. I can't lose the weight. I still have joint pain.

I started taking Torpol 100 MCG the night of the day I ended in the ER for high blood pressure due to a too high a dose of my thyroid medicine. I have an underactive thyroid, and my med had been increased in the last month or 6 weeks before. It takes a few weeks for the full effect of a thyroid med increase to take place. I didn't realize what it was at first but was having bouts of nausea and dizziness.

Now I still get the racing heart. I went through all the stress tests at the cardio and they were all normal. On Toprol, I get the anxiety, some chest tightness, but sometimes my heart races. Maybe the dose needs to be adjusted.

I never had high BP before this. It was 175 in the hospital, and last night I took my thyroid med at 9. An hour later my heart was racing and I had anxiety and that almost numb feeling all over. By midnight I got up and took my BP. 189/89 Took my Toprol, even tho I wasn't due to take it til the next morning. It helped some, but woke again at 3 with the anxiety.

My cardio says my heart is fine and I'm not going to have a heart attack or anything. I'm not convinced! It's scary. I am hoping that once we get my thyroid med straight, my BP will return to normal. I'm seeing my primary doc this morning to test my TSH again - that's the hormone level of your thyroid.

A friend of mine's mom took Toprol and had all kinds of muscle and joint aches. She finally conviced her doc it was the Toprol, and when she went to another BP med, the aches went away.

At any rate, I think I want to get off of Toprol after all the nasty things I've read about it here.

I'm 18 and I've been off Lupron for 3 months now. I was on it for 6 months for my endo. I still have all my site effects from when I was taking it. Those site effects include hot flashes every 15 min, bone and joint aches, back pain and depression. During the six months of taking Lupron I was able to deal with all of these site effects because my OBGYN told me these are normal site effects and it's worth it because I shouldn't have any pain from endo for at least 3 years after the treatment. Now 3 months later, I still have not had a period, I still have all the site effects, and the pain I had with my endo has come back. My doctor said this is normal so I just hope the pain and site effects go away soon. I'm going to be pretty angry if the past 6 months of this was all for nothing.

I have been on Topamax for 6 years and the side effects that I have experienced have been dry eyes, dry mouth, muscle/joint aches, chest pain, memory problems, body odor, fluid retention, weight GAIN (not loss), head aches, mood swings, hallucinations, blurred vision especially at night, tingling/burning of the extremities, and the constant feeling of never being able to get warm. I was on 400mg twice a day, and since the hallucinations, I have been cut back to 100 mg twice a day. My headaches are worse, and I am now experiencing hair loss and hair breakage.

I have rcvd 2 Lupron injections so far. After the first injection, I experienced a strange memory loss. I was driving home and I totally did not know where I was. I couldn't remember how to get home. I was terrified. Finally after driving around and around for an hour I found my way home. I was hysterical crying from the fright. My doctor said it couldn't be from the Lupron. Yet others say they had same side effect. After the second shot I experience Vertigo (dizziness). I felt drunk and kept falling down. When I sleep I feel like my mattress is floating and turning sideways. I keep feeling like I'm going to fall off of it. I have to drive to work and when I'm this dizzy its so dangerous. Its so difficult to work. I get headaches and feel sick to my stomach all the time. I get joint aches and severe depression. I already have severe neuropathy from the chemo I took. Now this! After reading your posts, I am scared to death. I don't want to take this any more. I'd rather die from the cancer than deal with this.

I am a 45 year old Female and this is my third refill & attempt to try singular as it was wonderful for my asthma and allergies. I actually threw the 1st 2 bottles out-as my side affects were horrendous. Headaches, sick stomach, exhausted, horrible mood swings, depressed, itching, finger joint aches, could not function and focus, I was desperate and tried it again and took 1/2 a pill instead of whole - it did not seem to help my allergies and therefore not enough to create as horrible poisoness feelings of the side effects. I just vomitted again after having a horrible exhausting day. I do not think this drug is worth the side effects. There are other sites that talk about Singulair - and no we are not crazy.

Female 67. I have been taking Lipitor for about two years. I began to notice that I was getting out of breath and fatigued after short walks and usual chores. I began to have muscle pain and joint aches. All along I thought this was just part of the aging process. As the weeks progressed, the pain became severe and the fatigue and weakness was unbarrable. I was in bed much of the time. I told the Doc my symptoms, at which time he did the blood tests, which were normal. He said he thought it was depression. I happened to see a clip on the side effects of Statins, and the light went on! I stopped taking Lipitor, and in a week I felt remarkably better. I am hoping as the weeks go by, I continue to improve. I thought I was headed for a Nursing Home. I feel like I have my life back again.

My doctor subscribed doxycycline (100mg) once a day for 30 days. I completed the medication over a month ago, and eventhough it did a great job clearing up a skin infection, I'm still suffering from joint aches, particularly in my left foot and right knee. These mostly occur when I get up in the mornings and after I've been sitting for an extended period of time. Because I didn't have any of these aches before taking the medicine, I'm convinced this is a side effect resulting from the doxycycline.

I am 31 years old and have been on Advair for atleast 5 years and have experienced a 25 lb weight gain despite all attempts at losing it, bruising, joint aches and pains, fatigue, and "lung pain." I have made the decision to wean myself off of it at this time especially because I plan on becoming pregnant in the near future. I need to search for alternative medications, preferrably not a steroid. Any ideas?? Thanks, Staci

My husband has been taking Topomax for a year along with Wellbutrin and Lamictal for Bipolar 2. He also has the often tingling, he describes it as crawling bees, on his feet, numbness in his hands. He bruises very easily now, and the worst symptom is the chronic muscle bursitis and joint aches. We were'nt sure at first, but after every test in the book came back negative, and realizing the pain started when the drug was started, he is finally off of the drug and the pain...unfortunately, the mental symptoms may soon reoccur. Has anyone else dealt with this?

I was shaky and just felt generaly ill. I also still get nauseated. I was taking 20 mgs. twice a day and tapered off a week ago but have not returned to my active self. I sleep most of the afternoon. I also sleep about nine hours a night. I was treated for fungal pneumonia. I was in the hospital for eleven days.

I can't believe what I have read about Yasmin, I thought it was all in my mind...I have been on Yasmin for a 1-1/2 and symptoms have really been getting worse. I have headaches, muscle pain and spasms, joint aches and what really scares me is the shortness of breath...I walk alot and I noticed during the week I am off Yasmin the symptoms are not that bad but when I start up again the symptoms come back ten fold including nausea. I am so greatful for this site. I am seeing my doctor next week and will get off Yasmin...
