I had my Mirena in for a little over a year and had if removed on August 18th 2009. I suffered from most of the side effects that are listed on Mirena's website. I have also noticed, that between the time I got the IUD inserted til now, they have included many more side effects on their website. Good for them. However, I just read something on their site that I wanted to point out to all of you ladies using or thinking about using this form of BC. Here is the link if you want to read what all they have to say. I am just glad they are putting more and more side effects on their site to inform women.

What if I become pregnant while using Mirena?
Unfortunately, no birth control method, not even tying your tubes, is 100% perfect. If you do get pregnant while using a birth control method, there can be risks to you and your baby. Here we talk about the risks of getting pregnant while Mirena is still in place.

About 2 in 1000 women using Mirena for one year may become pregnant. One risk of getting pregnant using Mirena is called ectopic pregnancy, when the pregnancy is not in the uterus. It may occur in the fallopian tubes. Signs of ectopic pregnancy may include unusual bleeding or abdominal pain. Ectopic pregnancy is an emergency that requires immediate medical attention and often surgery. Ectopic pregnancy can cause internal bleeding, infertility and even death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you think that you're pregnant.

There are also risks if you get pregnant while using Mirena and the pregnancy is in the uterus. Severe infection, miscarriage, premature delivery and even death can occur with pregnancies that continue with an intrauterine device (IUD). Because of this, your healthcare provider may try to remove Mirena, even though removing it may cause a miscarriage. If Mirena cannot be removed, talk with your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of continuing the pregnancy.

I got Mirena inserted back in April 2009 after my son was born. I have been feeling tired and have had back aches as well as some increased vaginal discharge. However, no foul odor and my sex drive is just fine. I'm wondering if the effects get worse the longer you have it in? It seems that most of you are experiencing these horrible side effects after 6months or so.
I'm going to keep my Mirena in and see how things go. It is a convenient form of birth control, but since I no longer have a period I get very paranoid that I could be pregnant again! :\

On Sunday I went to the emergency hospital due to a infection from some minor dental sugary (Tooth pulled) on Friday. I had puffed up with infection on the whole side of my face. My dentist advised me to go to emergency so that they could give me some antibiotics that get in my system quicker.

I was given Levaquin in an IV I was never informed of any side effects. I was fine for a few hrs. then I started experiencing racing heart and anxiety and could not sleep or concentrate on anything. I felt weak in my legs. It is now Monday evening at 1:18 AM I am still experiencing occasional heart flutters and am still awake although I am finally starting to slow down.

I feel like I was on speed for the past 2 days. . I was also given a 10 500MG tabs of levaquin to take. I am not taking them I am glad I looked up this drug. I hope that there will be no other side effects and stopped before taking the pills

I am really upset that I was not informed of these possible side effects at the hospital and was not given the change to say no to it.

All the bad things that this drug does and an IV bag full and it did not get rid of my infection in my face completely still have swelling.

Guess I am going to my doctor and ask for my Keeflex 500 Mg that I never had a problem with.

The Merck site doesn't direct link. Read the information for the General Practitioner.

Merck's own website states that Singulair is not an anti-histamine. I cannot imagine any General Practitioner receiving a clear picture of how Singulair actually works from this site. Nor, are they being presented with the truth about the side effects. The whole site is a bunch of marketing FLUFF that never gets to the point. At the very least, the GP's should be on the rampage with us for being deceived.

I plan to rant about this later. What a dumbed-down presentation (Merck's site)? What an insult?
