God Bless u Guest 14258
I'm so very sorry u r going thru this. I was on pred. for 4 yrs. and was taken off of pred. on June 10th of this year and it was cold turkey. I was not advised of the emotional trauma I would suffer nor did they tell me of the physical withdrawal. Many times I could have easily packed a suitcase and run away, didn't matter that I had been marrred for 23 yrs. I never did that. although u go thru many feelings of despair. Find a doctor, anyone that will help u deal with the withdrawal of pred. and get your husband to listen to u or both of u go and talk to someone. This is not your fault and it is the pred. How long had he been on pred.? How many milligrams did he take a day? Print out some articles , anything and let him read them. I've never heard of such a dramatic change, but with pred., anything is pssible. I got to the point I didn't care about anything, couldn't get interested in anything. Now, things r so much better and I'm getting back to my old self. Did your husband gain alot of weight? I sure did. It's coming off now. Please don't wait too long to get him some help, anyway u can. Take care of yourself in the mean time. God Bless

When I was taking pred. I was always losing my balance and pitching here and there. I was on pred. for 4 yrs. and have been off of it since June 10th of this year. I know how u feel. Low blood sugar can also make u very weak. I have Diabetes and had a kidney transplant over four yrs. ago and that's why I was on pred. Be very careful when u excercise. I have a reclining stationery bike that also has the arm things that u use. I got mine at Walmart. Try to get one of those. It beats falling down, I know. To answer about muscle aches and joint pain, comes from the pred. It also happens when u go thru withdrawal from pred. It lasts just a while, not to long, but it also depends on how long u r on pred. All of u r in my prayers, keep me in yours,

All these feelings u r having come from the pred. Trembling in the hands or shaking, hunger, weight gain, anxiety, insomnia, etc., r a part of the pred. Everyone here who has been on pred. has gone thru all of the side effects. It's very hard to go thru. Don't think u r crazy, it's the pred. I've been off of it since June 10th and still have insomnia, and sometimes my hands tremble. I was on it for 4 yrs. Watch out for high carb foods and high sugar content foods or u will be in the bathroom alot. Hang in there and God Bless all of u.

hey gypsi, I, for one, am sorry for not responding to the weight gain issue. I know very well about the weight gain problem. After stopping pred. on June 10th, I've lost so far, 32 lbs. I've got about 25 to go. I'm glad that the problem for u was water retention. I'm still struggling with blood pressure problems but today is a good since last Friday when this all started. I still have alot of the withdrawal effects but have noticed I'm calming down alot which may help my blood pressure. Still don't sleep much but able to tolerate it better. For those who r going thru this, U R NOT ALONE. I wish that the doctors would do indepth research on this demon drug before putting us on it. I pray for all of u. If u have family members or a spouse that doesn't understand, print out some of these posts and show them. I've been blessed that my family and friends know and understand. My husband works all day so I get alot of frustration out during my time alone. If u can't sleep try benadryl or something otc. It will take a while for me to feel "normal" again. Thanx for listening

I had a kidney/pancreas transplant 4 yrs ago the pancreas failed but the kindey is doing great. I was on prednisone 5mg. every other day. The side effects are mind blowing. Night sweats, swelling, stomach problems like crazy, insomnia, moonface, weight gain, bruising, can't tolerate heat, and every other symptom. I am now, as of June 10th , off of prednisone. Please, can someone tell me what I will be going thru with the withdrawl symptoms. I'm kind of worried

In December 0f 2002, I badly herniated L4-L5 and bulged L5-S1. The pain in my low back and left leg was almost unbearable. I received my first Kenalog epidural on January 28, 2003. There was some relief but the pain was still severe. I was coping with it via two Hydrocodone 10/650's, four times a day. The second injection on March 26, 2003 produced a great deal of relief and I cut down on the Hydro's considerably. On June 10th I received another Kenalog injection and it waslike a miracle. As the steroid was being injected, i felt instant relief and was pain free for a considerable time. As the relief wore off the Hydrocodone regimen had to begin again. I have now begun another cyucle of Kenalog epidurals and I am looking forward to the same relief. I have noticed no side effects, only pain relief.
