I have been taking this for about 5 months. So far, I don't think have any side effects. ( I don't get sleepy or anything) I sometimes wonder if I am taking too low a dosage - I take the .25 - and although it may take the edge off occasionally, I sometimes don't know if it is doing anything - I am still having anxiety....Now unfortunately, I am starting to have anxiety about having anxiety.

I have too young children and was afraid to take any higher dosage - I can't be drowsy etc., but was just wondering if it is really helping me at all. I haven't tried anything else. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks - Kara

Hi ladies! I wrote here a couple weeks ago...just prior to my mental breakdown!! I laugh now but it was anything but funny. Had numerous symptoms-adverse reactions to Yaz- and was told by my PCP and my bitch gynocologist (not mine anymore!!) that what I was feeling had absolutely nothing to do with the BCPs. That was when I sought out a Naturalistic Doctor...who was completely amazing in every way and agreed that my body was having some sort of reaction to the pills and the excess hormone in my system. She did some acupuncture and made some suggestions as far as supplements and probiotics go and I literally started feeling myself again after one treatment. I had two in all and I feel wonderful and really like myself again-sleeping better and all!!! Also I'd like to mention some magic in a bottle...it's called Bach's Rescue Remedy and it immediately calms me down. The Naturopathic Doctor charged $200 for the first meeting (intake, history, acupuncture and recommendations) and $75 for each subsequent visit...worth every penny!! and the Bach's is like $7.99...well worth every single cent!!!! To be feeling normal again is priceless!!! Best of luck to all of you but do know that there is hope!!! Take care

Hi ladies! I am in complete shock at what I am reading on this site! I thought I was going crazy but now I know I wasn't and I am not alone!!! I was on Yaz for two months and in the first month, I noticed that my libido went from moderate (sex 3-5x a week) to completely non-existent- like a light switch. Then at the end of my second pack, which was this past week, I experienced breast tenderness, non-stop headaches (bordering on migraines) and my abdomen was extremely bloated. Also, throughout this past month, I have noticed my joints have been achy and my muscles have been sore. I have been weak and tired all the time on top of feeling anxious and restless. These premenstrual symtoms are completely uncommon for me to have. This past month in particluar has been oddly confusing and almost like an out of body experience. Now, in retrospect and after reading about others' experiences with Yaz, I am convinced that all those symptoms were/are side effects of Yaz. I hope this posting is helpful to some, in the same sense that other postings were helpful to me. Good Luck!

I have been taking Ultracet for over a year now..as needed for back pain from a car accident and significant re-injury of my back. I have sciatica in my laft leg with significant pain and some numbness if I sit too long in one position as well as moderate to severe back pain if I walk or stand up too long.

I will say from the start I have a very high tolerance for drugs. Doses of narcotic pain killers (darvocet, vicodin etc) thta knock most people out will just make me feel slightly "high".

I take Ultracet as needed for pain and Flexeril for muscle spasms in my back. I do not ever go over 3 pills in one day.

I have not noticed any of the reactions people mention here. I can go several days without taking Ultracet with no problems. Perhaps it is that I do days without taking it that has saved me from becoming addicted to it.

I have heard of side effects such as upset stomach, nausea and my doctor warned me to let her know if I felt anxiety or other emotional incidents (mood swings, depression, feeling "high" etc). I have had none of those effects that I can specifically attribute to the ultracet.

After asking my physician about whether ultracet is a narcotic in the same category as darvocet, percocent etc. ( I asked because of the similarity in name). She said it was not classified as a narcotic as it is a synthetic substance and supposedly does not have the addictive ingredient found in the natural opiates. Supposedly is the key word here. She also told me that people who are susceptible to addictions (i.e. family history of alcohol or drug abuse etc) may become addicted to it. She said that the threshold for addiction seems to be when taking more than 3 pills a day.

The ultracet works well for controling the pain in my legs and back. I am fortunate to be able to take a dose of ultracet and rest for 20 minutes until it kicks in most times. I have had no problems with driving or dizzines since I started taking it.
