I was on Yasmin for about 4 years. Actually for the most part, I didn't really have many side effects; which I guess is good. I feel so badly for all that I have read here. BUT what started happening about 1 year ago was that I started getting an INSANE amount of yeast infections. I had only had one yeast infection prior to this, that was in college (9 years ago) and then all of a sudden I start getting multiple yeast infections. I swear it was like my GYN and me were having a relationship. I seriously had min of 12 in a year. In August I had two back to back. FINALLY I said to my GYN "could this be due to the pill?" He looked back at my chart and realized how many I had acutally gotten over the past year and decided to change my pill. I wish I had seen this website earlier... It would have saved me a lot of problems and a lot of money (on GYN appts and medicine). Please keep an eye out for this side effect. I never in a million years thought it could have been the pill. I mean, I tried everything, even threw away all my "nice" undies for white cotton... how yucky! Anyway, I haven't had a yeast infection in almost three months since being off it. The GYN switched me to Loestrin 24- although I don't have the yeast infections I have an TUN of other side effects from this one! Gained 7 pounds in 2 1/2 months... so don't take that either. Look for the other website on Loestrin 24! Good luck to you all.

Boy! It is funny how all of us posting here have all these side effects and the doctors for the most part say nothing or keep an eye on it. I to have symtoms ranging from bad headaches, the tickle in the throat and cough with it, to lower neck across shoulders the pain is intense. I was started out with a 20mg dose and on july 2007. There are differences with me as i have a hard time now getting to sleep. I toss and turn most of the night. It is now mid september and the doctor has never called to ask how i was doing. My blood pressure has not gone down but up. ranging from 174/110 on sept. 9 to 158/104 on sept16 2007. so i am taking myself off this crap and doing something different if only what are for-fathers did most of the time........they lived with it. Any thing has to be better than this.....thanks for all your help!

I hve been on Januvia for 5 weeks, after not being able to tolerate Metformin. I have noticed a great thinning of my hair. Other than that I haven't felt better. Is hair loss a side effect?

I hope that what I'm going through is a side effect of this stuff. I'm a 31 year old, non smoking man. Almost three weeks ago I noticed a rash starting on my arms and torso, it looked exactly like poison ivy, except there is no likely way that I could have come in contact with it. I went to see my doctor as a precaution. My normal PCP was booked, so I saw another doctor at the practice. She said "we may never know what this is, but it should go away soon." She told me to wait and keep an eye onit. At this point I really had no other issues, it didn't itch too much.
Four days later, the rash had spread all over my torso and arms. I was starting to feel bad, and spent the weekend in bed with dizzyness and nausea. I called the doctor and she phoned in a prescription for Amoxicillin. I was on the Amoxicillin for 4 days before I went back to see her as my symptoms had not gotten any better. She put me on a 9day cycle of Prednisone. The prednisone cleared up the rash mostly, but throughout the cycle I felt weak, nausea, dizzy. It sucked. I read a lot about side effects online and was hopeful that this would end with the endinig of the prescription. Tuesday morning (8/14) I took my last pill. Yesterday I could barely function. I felt dizzier than normal and had a very hard time getting through the day. Now it's Thursday 48+ hours since my last pill, and I still feel dizzy, like I'm in a Fog. Does anyone know if this is possibly still due to prednisone? If I wake up tomorrow like this I'll plead for an appointment with my PCP. Any help is appreciated.

I might have mild FIBROMYALGIA, but on this drug I felt like I got hit by a truck. I am on my 3RD WEEK. Terrible pain/weakness in all my muscles, the trigger points for FM were very tender. It may be that FM is getting wose due to stress, but this all happened on Yasmin.

"Spacy" and not paying attention. I blamed things on my stress level. No interest is sex due to the pain and hurting.

Very depressed and not wanting to do much (mostly because I hurt!) I can't ride my horse w/o pain afterwards.

No nausea, some stomach trouble. Acne is not better or worse.

I am getting off it this weekend and going to see if it in fact the pill.

Women with CHRONIC FATIGUE AND FIBRO be warned to keep an eye on things.

Discontinuing Lisinopril:

Like many of you good folks that have been taking Lisinopril, I have discontinued taking the med after 10 days usage.

ONE WORD OF CAUTION: Please, please, please, go to a local drug store and purchase a blood pressure cuff. It doesn't have to be anything fancy... the manual-inflate, analog-dial type costs around $15 at CVS. If you don't know how to take your own BP, then let either a nurse or your local rescue squad show you how.... It's really quite simple. Different people act differently to meds and there is a real possibility that your BP could go very high. You need to check it several times a day. Also, after discontinuing many BP meds (including Lisinopril), your potassium (and possibly calcium) levels may drop, causing some really nasty side effects.

I've been an EMT for 25+ years and have seen quite a few patients (including my mother) "stroke out" due to HBP.... please don't let it happen to you. Discuss it with your doctor; there are many other HBP meds out there and one of them will no doubt work for you without causing side effects. Just don't disregard your HBP.

hi jamie11477.
make a note of your levels you can then keep an eye on it over the next year. ask if you can have your free levels checked too,it just gives you a good base for future comparisons. i am also really struggling with weight gain, i have gained 2.5 stones since i stopped yasmin but to be fair when i was on it i could hardly eat a thing as i was so ill both physically and mentally. i could not eat sugars or carbs as they sent my heart racing...that doesn't happen now so i have to take some responsibility for the weight although it is definately disproportionate to the amount i eat. i seem to gain 4 pounds in a week sometimes without eating anything bad at all. i have read up on low progesterone levels, that can lead to weight gain especially round the middle which is where mine is. as i said in my earlier post i am going to up my dose of vitex (at the moment i am only taking a quarter of the dose recommended on the bottle as i am still a little worried about messing with my hormones as i know my anxiety was triggered by messing with my hormones! i also seem to have a really sensitive stomach and most things give me an upset tummy.

Hi Hill,
Sorry that you are not feeling well. The cold will pass.
Fortunately you are no longer on Yasmin and are on your road to getting better.
My experience is that I cannot take Benadryl or any cold medicine without getting a racy heart and/or totally exhausted.
It is hard to say with certainty why you are having these symptoms. Keep an eye on them and see if you can see a direct correlation to the meds and the symptoms. You will know your body's reactions.
I am about one and a half months off of Yasmin. I notice that my anxiety is peaking during ovulation and my period. I started Paxil CR 12.5mg when I stopped the Yasmin. I assume that it is helping keep the anxiety under control.
Do alot of deep cleansing breaths when you feel anxious. Also, I recently purchased a couple of relaxation CD's. I listen to them in the late evening once my kids and husband are asleep. It has helped me fall asleep. Staying asleep has not been easy, but I am working on it.
Also- Have you had your blood pressure checked?

anyone have a problem with Steven Johnson's Syndrom? I don't, but someone else told me they did. I've been on Tomapax for 2 years due to boipolar disorder, along with Depakote. Can't think of any new side effects except the loss of a bit over 60 pounds & lovin' it. But you guys are scaring me, will have to keep an eye on things. Am seeing a new GP & a skin dr. soon, so I'll let you know.

Have been taking lisinipril for about 3 weeks now (2.5mg). Am taking it because microalbumin levels are high, not for blood pressure, so my Dr. says. Have pain in chest neck and under arm. The worst is the indigestion! Have also lost weight I can not afford to. It occured to me yesterday that lisinipril may be the cause. I have called my doctor and did not take it today. The indigestion is better for not having taken it. Am grateful to have found this site! Will keep an eye as my son is on it also.
