HAVE BEEN ON aDVAIR, sPIRIVA AND aLBUTEROL FOR 3 YRS NOW. have gained 40 lbs, exercise 5 times a week, walk,swim,aerobics.. no weight loss.. also diet. have shortness of breath all the time no matter what i do. chest pains, body itches everywhere all the time. doctors keep writing prescriptions and have no answers, so i ignore the new prescriptions and am now my own doctor. AFTER READING all of this, i just THREW out my Advair. the weight i gained is all in my stomach and i look like an old pregnant lady.. what a mess. i'm waiting for a Class Action Suit and it should be soon.. someone is going to pay for all of this. those doctors getting paid for writing RX's for money and gifts st our expense could go on forever. should be tarred and feathered.

I love this site. I have been on Levoxyl for five years and it seems to be like a two edged sword. I had enlarged thyroid that now is practically gone, so are my heart flutterings which is a good thing....however, they have been replaced by joint pain, depression, huge appitite, and anxiety. I tried to switch to Synthriod but for me it had a Jeckle and Hyde effect and I was filled with a rage that would sweep over me. In fighting the rage I started having stomache cramps that seemed to be ulcer-like and I could find no food that didn't have me on the couch praying to God to just go ahead and take me..Switched back to Levoxyl simply because I had to have some quality of life and needed medical help...I have tried the health food route and my goiter returned. I appreciate everyone's stories because for the first time in years I see I am not alone, but I agree with those who say to keep trying and take responcibility for your own care, some doctors really do care and have every intent on our wellfare, however it has been my experience that most GP's lack the information on the diease to understand that this type of medication can do harm so they "ho, hum," us while they just keep writing out our prescriptions.

I JUST started Loestrin 24 Fe (day one) and have been reading many articles and websites (anything from the literature in the research journals to the Mayo Clinic posts). I have just read through this entire site and took in all the feedback from the women who have shared the side effects. I have NEVER taken BC until now. I am trying it to keep monthly bleeding and mood swings to a minimum. BUT, I see some serious side effects (depression, acne, weight gain) - these seem worse than just dealing with the monthly symptoms and taking some pain relievers.
Should I STOP? Any advice from veteran birth control users?
