I am having surgery in two weeks (laparascopy, hysteroscopy, and uterine ablation). My doctor gave me a shot of Lupron to prepare my body for the surgery. I had to ask for information regarding the drug as none was offered. One side effect stated was increase in depression, which concerned me because I am on anti-depressants. I talk to my psych med doctor and he didn't seem concerned. Well, I immediately had symptoms of forgetfulness and confusion. My depression increased significantly (I cried for six days straight), I could not function normally, I broke up with my boyfriend whom I love very much because I thought my world was coming to an end, and on and on, migrane, hip and pelvic pain, weakness, sleeplessness, lack of appetite. Two weeks after the injection I am finally starting to come to reality and trying to fix the mess I made emotionally. Apparently, there was a medication I could have been given to counteract or lessen some of these side effects, but no one bothered to tell me. My advise, if you are feeling any side effects, contact your doctor immediately. I"m only glad I only had to have one shot and would NEVER get another.

Had surgury to remove ovary from endrometerosis then in about 5 yrs. had a laparascopy to remove endro again. I am 31 and the Insurance would not pay for complete removal of female organs to get rid of it once and for all. So doctor said Lupron Shots. I was on them for 3 months. It started out after 1st month with cravings leading to weight gain, severe headaches, being dizzy, breathing problems, THEN by the 3 1/2 month mark things changed drastically pain in foot couldn't walk traveled to my shoulder and arm thought I was having a heart attack so was ambulanced to hospital all test showed nothing. I could not walk was in a wheelchair and pain plus all the other effect above. Sent to a neurologist who told me some truthfull answers finally. SIDE EFFECTS LISTED FOR THE PHYSICIANS TO KNOW BUT NOT TOLD TO ME WERE ( PARALLISES AND COMPRESSION OF THE SPINAL CORD) I did not have my 4 th shot of Lupron and after a 2 more months and a lot of prayer from my church family God came thru and healed me I am up out of the wheelchair and walking as if none of this nightmare happened. I have to deal now with the excessive weight yet hopefully it will go too.

I recently had surgery to remove the endometriosis that was growing around my organs. What was supposed to be a laparascopy turned into major surgery because the endometriosis was larger than my uterus and it was wrapped around my bowel. My doctor has prescribed lupron, but after reading all of the side effects there is no way I will consider it. I am seeking alternatives, one being the use of progesterone to balance the estrogen levels. What I would recommend to anyone considering lupron is to seek another alternative. Check with a nutritionist, read information from other websites....research!!!

I've had my mirena since March 3, 2008 total of 9 months. To make a long story short I found out on Nov. 21st that my Mirena became a foreign object in my body and have to have it surgically removed from my body (wherever it is). It's in my stomach almost sure don't know how the hell it got out... I asked my OB she said there could be many reasons how it got out... but I been through a lot to find out it's sitting in somewhere in my stomach and found out I had a cyst (i know they're normal when using mirena but mine has been growing in size). I'm currently using the NuvaRing for a form of Birth control since my OB said the Mirena does not work out of the uterus.... I feel like it's still working in me somehow since I still feel like sh**.... I hope the NuvaRing controls my periods... I was always on my period up until I found out it was not in place... I'm really scared to get the laparascopy done to get it taken out but I really want it out and hope to have it out by January... I wish I would have never got it... I should have just used the NuvaRing since the beginning... I know several ladies who have the Mirena and are happy with them and wish it would have worked for me but I guess my crazy body ate it somehow...
