I have been taking Femcon for about 3 months now. I took Yasmin for about a year prior to Femcon, and my OBGYN had me switch because I had some bad cysts on both of my ovaries. After the first couple weeks on Femcon, I thought I was going crazy. I was an emotional wreck, I was having random panic attacks for no reason, I was lashing out at my boyfriend (we have been together for 3 years, and I have never fought with him the way I have been lately, and they are arguments that I start myself, over any and everything.) I had my period for the first 4 weeks of taking this pill, and when I was supposed to get my period, it didn't come. My breast have gone up a whole cup size (I went from a D to a DD....not something I needed or wanted to happen!) And I have put on about 7 pounds. This has been like a nightmare to me, and I didn't know why these things were happening until I found this site. I suspected Femcon may be why these things were happening, but I kept on telling mysef that was crazy, and I probably just needed psychologial help. I am so upset with my Dr. for giving me this pill. I feel like a guinea pig for this "revolutionary birth control pill." I don't recommend anyone to take it. I have been taking birth control pills for 10 years, and I have never experienced anything like this. It is like a bad dream. Thank you so much to all the other women that have posted their experiences on here, you have helped to saved my sanity and my relationship!! I am calling my Dr. tomorrow to switch to something else (probalby back to Yasmin).

Okay,so I just got off of this drug because I have been noticing how much insanity it has been causing me. I have been so depressed that I can cry whenever I feel like it. I have also been lashing out at anyone who looks at me. Also, I have been having horrible stomach pains. I went to a Gastro Intestinal doctor just to check it out. Luckily, nothing was wrong with my stomach and intestines. I really just want to feel normal again.

I am really happy to learn that I was right about my choice to take the ring out almost 2 months ago now! I was a ring user for a few years right after it came out but I keep having trouble with the comfort of it so I stopped using it.
dryness
swelling
redness
after a few years back on the pill I wanted to try it again and after a year on this I was very scared for my own life! I was getting PMS worse and worse and I did not want to even think about sex it made me feel uncomfortable. This was not normal. after a few month I noticed that for days a month I was becoming very angry and depressed. I was also lashing out at people that I would never have done before. The RAGE I like to call it, became so bad with the depression that I found myself driving to by a gun to kill myself with. I flipped out... this was not me I have never been depressed or though of death but I didnt what the problem was. I finally reaized that my nuvaring could be the cause. I took it out and after a few days I was feeling better and better. I have been off of everything now for 3 months and I am feeling better but not totally back to normal. This was the worst experiance I have ever had with a medication. I have used the pill for over 10 years and never had anything like this happen. they should definetly look into more resurch on this medication.

Yes. Was on the ring for almost 3 months (just took it out today, the side effects were becoming unbearable). It didn't affect me so much physically except that my boobs got a size bigger. The whole process was very simple and convenient, and sexual partners didn't have any problem with it. But through the second and third cycle the depression was becoming unbearable. I've never been one to become so upset like that before... every day I found myself lashing out at everyone, hating everything I used to love, and simply not wanting to exist. I figure living life and being happy is a lot more valuable than all that the ring has to offer.

I have been on the nuvaring for nine months now. I have had headaches at first after I removed the ring but lately having headaches the week before I am to remove it. This last month my headaches were so severe that I have decided to stop taking it.

Just a comment to the 20 year old who seems to be lashing out at the women posting their side effects here. This is what this post is for and is important for women to understand that it may indeed be her nuvaring causing her headaches. This way she can make an informed decision.

My 2.5 year old son was put on Omnicef for sinus infection/tonsilitis. He is now done with it and we made it through but his behavior for those 10 days changed SO dramatically, I decided to retroactively look up side effects. What I am seeing here is a lot of parents describing the same thing (besides the ever present diarrhea) - the nightmares, waking screaming, but beyond just cranky as with other illness- and he's had pneumonia already- lashing out, really angry. My mother in law suggested maybe the medication had something to do with it and I thought she was reaching too far,but now, I'm not sure. If I were to be perscribed it again, I would request an alternative.

I have just read several side affects that concerned parents have posted. I trusted my doctor to give my 4 year old daughter the best medicine for her allergies, he put her on singulair. I was not given the severity of the side affects of this medicine. Sadly by reading the change in behavior, that my perfect angel was lashing back phsically which was not her demeaner, she would through little fits over things she never did before. My daughter passed 2 weeks ago in her sleep. The one who taught me how to love myself is now in heaven. Robbed like a theft in the night. Her death is still unknown, by the stories I have read. I know what killed my baby!
