I have been on Yasmin almost 2 years. I finished a pack last week and do not plan on starting a new one. I googled "side effects of Yasmin" in a hope to see if there was a chance someone out there had noticed any facial hair growth since taking it. What I found was this sight that has given me a ray of hope. I left my husband 2-3 months after starting the Yasmin. As I assumed was normal, I experienced depression, mood swings, everything you might expect after ending a relationship you expected to last forever. I have been seeing a counselor for the past 8 months, because my mental state was not improving. Since then, I have had improvement, but the insane mood swings haven't stopped, especially the week before my period. I had attributed this to getting older (I'm 32) and was just pushing through, knowing I'd swing back to "normal" eventually. I am hoping so much that they will stop and I will get totally back to my normal self. Before starting Yasmin the emotional end of my PMS consisted of one day, right before my period started, of bitchiness. Since I started my period at 14, this has been it. No sobbing, no suicidal thoughts, no wanting to sleep all day. I would give anything to get that one day back and lose all of these other days of insanity.

I've also just recently noticed some slight hair growth along my hairline down to my jaw. Which is how I got to this sight in the first place. Funny how I put up with mood swings for almost 2 years, but some extra hair on my face has me running to the computer in a panic!! :) Additionally, I've experienced shortness of breath, and in the past couple of months, leg cramps. I have never had a cramp in my calf in my life until these past couple of months. I don't know if Yasmin is the cause for any of these things, but it'll be interesting to see if they persist. As for sleeping, I have noticed some issues, but also attributed that to the divorce.

Dear kim and dejay,

your posts nearly bring me to tears, because you exactly tell my story from about 1,5 years ago!!

I know it's hard to believe while you're still in it, but: IT WILL GET BETTER!! You will be your old self someday, but you'll need lots of patience and endurance and the support of your family or husband or anyone around you!!

I know exactly EVERY symptom you both have mentioned!! And I remember me sitting in there and thinking "I never will be better again, this is how it will stay the rest of my life, I'm done!" and today I'm BACK!!

It can last a few weeks or months but I swear someday you'll think "oh, today I think I'm doing a bit better finally", that's how it happened to me!! It will be only little steps every day or week or month, but you'll get through this!!!

Remember that the pill is affecting your natural hormones completely and brings them out of whack. Now, after getting off that horrible pill, it will take some time for your body to learn how to produce hormones by itself again!! It's definitely not only a flu or a simple cold we're all going through, it's something more serious, but nothing letal and nothing, that will last forever!!

On top the Yasmin is lacking your body of very important electrolytes and vitamines and so on, because of the diuretic effect!! So, as flowerbabies already told you, please make sure to take some good supplements (most important seem to be magnesium, zinc and b-vitamines, because they are absolutely essential for nerves and muscles!!).

Another thing that might be possible (also because of the diuretic effect of Yasmin): Please ask your doctor for a blood work about your iron levels!! The monthly period (which, I guess, came really regular during Yasmin) AND the diswatering effect of Yasmin can also lack your body of that important substance.

For the very hard times another thing that might help to calm down a bit: VALERIAN. It's a natural medication which doesn't make you addictet and in my very hard times it was always a good thing to help me through!!

But DEJAY: Don't feel weak because you couldn't get through without antidepressants!! I swear there were times, where I thought "Please give me ANYTHING, I will take it, I can no longer stand this agony!" and today I still don't really know, how I got through without that stuff!! So please take something, if it might help you through the very hard times and someday you'll be able to get off it again!! I swear!

Ok, sorry, I'll try not to write a book again. But I really hope I could help somehow.

And please: If you feel bad and hopeless come around here and I swear you'll always find someone to support you (which I know sometimes is the only thing that helps not to give up completely!!).

But always remember: I's NOT YOU!! It's the Yasmin and someday you'll be better again.

Big hugs to you both and every other poor victim of that horrible drug and stay strong! You'll get through this!!

Best wishes and god's bless
Silke

I was on Wellbutrin SR for 5 years and recently decided it was time to get off the stuff. Getting off the medication has been anything but pleasant. However, I know withdrawl won't last forever.

When I was on the drug, I also experienced many of the side effects that other people did; thinning hair, headaches, occasional migraines, nausea, inability to sleep, confusion, night sweats, tremors, dry mouth, etc. But, I am going through early menopause and I contributed many of the symptoms to that rather than Wellbutrin SR.

One thing I noticed with getting off the drug is an unsatiable appetite. I can eat 24/7 and still be hungry. It really sucks!

Hair has thinned out. Been taking synthroid for about 10 years. Lost about 26 lbs over a 15 week period when I first started taking it. The weight loss doesn't last forever and I gained back 12 almost immediately after the med was regulated.

I have been on the effexor for about 2 months now. I was really having bad anxiety and constant things on my mind. I was always feeling sad and depressed. I would want to cry for just no reason. I am 27 years old and basically felt this way for about 8-9 years. I knew it was time for a change. I have had no side effects except for vivid dreams. I used to never remember my dreams until now. It seems like they last forever, but they are not bad dreams or anything. I finally feel normal, and I would suggest effexor to anyone. I am nervous about getting off it, due to reading previous side effects from other people, but right now I am happy!!

I have been taking Levaquin for a severe infection in my hand. After about the 2nd day, severe diarhea started. After the 5th day I started having joint pain. By the 10th day I could no longer walk and am in severe pain. My physician does not know what is wrong. He gave me a cortisone shot in one knee to see if that would help.

My wife looked on the internet last night just on a hunch that it could be the Levaquin. What a surprise! Now I want to know if this pain will last forever, or when it will leave (since I tossed the rest of my prescription)

Why are they prescribing this stuff???
