I am taking 500mg. of Niaspan every night...It is time for me to increase my dose by another 500mg..I can deal with the flushing because I eat low-fat yogurt before I take the Niaspan at night and that really helps with the flushing....My issue is my pulse rate..Last night I woke up at 3:am with flushing and racing pulse which I could feel all over my body. Has anyone ever had this happen? The flushing doesn't scare me at all but the racing pulse does...Any advice???

I had the Mirena put in in March of 2007, shortly after my 6 week post partum check up. I have always had terrible side effects from bc pills and I am allergic to latex (....condoms,etc), besides I'm married and it's so weird and inconvenient for a married couple, with 3 children and LITTLE time for sex to use condoms!! With all this in mind, my obgyn convinced me to consider this product. I did my homework as instructed and all research came back with the same answers: NO DOCUMENTED side effects. My biggest concerns were weight gain/mood, aggression. I was assured this would not happen to me again. The insertion was super easy; didn't feel a thing, then a few days later it felt as though I was in labor all over again and this lasted for about a week. I continued to bleed for approx 5 months, and since i have had to wear a panty liner everyday for discharge/spotting. After reading this website, I've come to realize that all the "strange" things happening to me are apparently not so strange/rare: the terrible headaches, leg cramps, SEVERE acne that scars (everyday of the month, currently using proactiv for that, but not helping one bit! and i've never had a zit before in my life), I'm 27 and feel as though i have the joints of an 85 year-old...my knees and hips ache 24-7. Yes, the mood swings are there too. My poor husband and children....i'm happy one sec, then biting off heads the next. I have also had severe constipation, having to do regular enemas to have bm's. Worst of all, after busting my butt to lose 25lbs of baby wgt 3 wks after giving birth, I started gaining it back 3 weeks later after having Mirena inserted. I have gained approx 38 lbs since the end of March. I have completely changed my diet to..sugar busters, 1200 calories a day, exercise 5 days a week, excessive amount of fiber and water, and i'm even taking ephedra/hoodia pills 3x a day. I can honesly say I have not lost 1 pound, not 1. We are not sure if we want anymore children, but if so not for a few years, but I cannot endure the suffering anymore, and neither can my family. please reconsider having the Mirena put in your body! So many women post complaints, why is there NO documented side effects with this device with the manufacturer and physicians who recommend it?????

I have been on Doxycycline for two weeks for Lyme disease. I stopped three days ago. While on it I felt very depressed and moody, as well as tired and nauseous. Last night I woke up with the sensation that my whole body was on fire, my back especially. My face itches as well and I am no longer even on the drug.

I started using Nuvaring last night. I woke up this morning crying from a dream about my mother. I thought that was kinda weird. I've been thirsty all day. I think I've had a least 10 huge glasses of water. Other than that things seemed fine. Then I got home and crashed out on the couch. I just woke up and my arms feel really tingly, my body feels really heavy and I feel nauseous.

I started using this thing to get rid of crappy pms. I want to take it out right now!

I started Toprol Xl 50mg daily about 2 1/2 months ago. I experienced trouble sleeping and vivid dreams right off the bat. I saw my doctor last week and he suggested I take it at night instead of the morning, but that seems to make the insomnia worse. I find myself waking up a lot during the night, sometimes I feel wide awake. Also, last night, I woke up and both legs were itching intensely, as was my chest. I have no idea what that was. Has anyone else experienced similar? I don't know what to do.

i started taking doxy for acne. so far my acne is if anything, worse, and last night i woke up around 2 am due to severe heartburn. i made myself puke because i felt so nautious, then quickly ate some food and drank a lot of water with the assumption that it would make me feel better (last time i got nautious with this medication food solved the problem) but this morning i still have bad heartburn.

I have been taking Geodon for exactly 15 days, and I'm FREAKING OUT over this drug!! Last night I woke to find myself throwing things around the room to try and baricade myself thinking someone OR something was trying to kill me. My bird was really startled and started free flight in his cage. Luckily he did not hurt himself, but he could have. My paranoia is WORSE, and I am MORE PSYCHOTIC than I was before taking Geodon! Do I need to give it more time to see if these terrible side effects will diminish? A friend who knows a lot about medications told me that if I am experiencing these same side effects after 2 weeks into taking the medication, it appears that my body is trying to tell me something, it is rejecting it. I want to just stop taking it IMMEDIATELY, BUT, will I be worse if I do? What kind of side effects can I expect?
HELP!!!!!!!

this site is great! i thought i was crazy, now i don't. my 4th month of lamictal and just hit the 100mg mark. at first i was taking it with a 30 mg of an antidepressant but i was irritable as helll!!! once i hit the 100mg mark, i got off the antidepressants and feel way better now just with lamictal alone.

initial side effects wre dizziness and insomnia but that went away. i've never had pimples and now i do. and last night i woke myself yelling having nightmares and haven't slept...

if you miss a dose you go nuts!

ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS WORTH IT...I FEEL WAY MORE CONTROLLED THAN BEFORE I STARTED TAKING THIS...

Good afternoon-

I just started taking Yasmin two days ago. I have never been on bc before. My doctor recommened Yasmin for my PMS. Well, last night I woke up with severe lower digestive problems and hot flashes. I was unable to fall back asleep. Today, my heart is racing. Is this normal? Is my body just adjusting to the hormones? I am not sure if I should continue it or not. If this is a 'normal' I guess I will stick it out. If not, I would rather get off of it now.

Amyr, denise and everyone.

I am so upset. Last night I woke up in a full anxiety attack. Shakes, inability to sleep & focus, and vomiting! I took one xanax .25 mg. Did not help. I took one again this AM and nothing, I am still shaking, short of breath a little and dizzy.

I have a call into the cardiologist to go on a BP monitor for 24 hours to see if it is my BP (my reg doc ordered that I do this). I have been off of yasmin and all BCP for 6 days now. I went to the psycholigist's office for eval (by a counselor)yesterday and she didn't think i need paxil, but she is not a doctor. The doc will see me in mid-feb.

I did not start the paxil. I want to talk to the cardiologist first. I cannot tell you how SCARED I am. I cannot take care of my 2 little girls, embarassing! My parents and friends are helping me.

Best to all of you... I will keep you posted, please do the same.

I am new to this site and thank God I found it. Now I don't feel like I am alone anymore. I have been taking Yasmin for 2 1/2 years now and dealing with this "new self". I stopped taking Yasmin 2 days ago (before I found this site) and last night I woke up to a pool of blood in my bed. I stopped taking Yasim in the middle of the pack because I was having severe headaches and had practically ruled out everything except my birth control. So, once I saw the blood, I was scared - but I assumed it was my 2nd period since I stopped in the middle of the pack. Did anyone have this happen to them when they stopped Yasmin???
My side effects have pretty much been the same as everyone else's - severe headaches, depression, not feeling like I am worth very much, I haven't been able to keep focused, very low sex drive, bitchy, bitchy, bitchy - and I could go on. It has been a terrible 2 1/2 years and I can't believe it has taken me this long to figure out what was wrong with me. I am dumbfounded... But I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel - as long as these symptoms go away.
Has there not been any lawsuits or action with Yasmin to make other women aware of what this can do to them? I am willing to make an effort if someone could lead me in the right direction. Yasmin is scary and has terrible side effects. No one should have to go through what we all have been through.
Please reply and I will keep you updated on my progress.
Amanda

I was prescribed Prednisone for only 5 days- my doc said to take it to rule out inflamed sinuses as a cause of my dizzy/lightheaded symptoms.
Well, this medication did everything but take away my dizziness. On my 2nd night I was feeling anxious and had difficulty falling asleep. On my 3rd night, the it got worse. On the 4th night, I felt like something was crawling under my skin- it was so uncomfortable- I kept rubbing my arms and paced back and forth until the feeling went away about 2 hours later. On the last night, I woke up from a nap feeling tender all over- my ribcage, my shoulders, under my arms, my neck, jaw. My jaw even appeared to be swelled. My body was so sensitive to touch that I couldn't even carry my purse on my shoulder the next day as I walked to a doctor's appointment. My doc told me that the tenderness was probably due to a virus that the Prednisone had initially supressed. What do you think? Anybody else ever had these side effects or effects after completion of the Prednisone?
Oh and about the dizziness, it just got worse. I will never take this medication again.

I started Prednisone due to a rash about 10 days ago. I've got a couple days left. It worked great on my rash, but now that I am titrating down from 60mg. I am having sideffects. Anxious, feel like vibrate inside I also get up to urinate 3 to 4 times a night. I've never done that?

Have the sun burn look since day one. But last night I woke with horrable pain in my knee joints. It was terrible. It is gone now. I noticed yesterday my knee joints felt tight or swollen??? Then woke with pain.

I will be glad when this is over. None of the pharmacy information says any of the side effects that everyone one seems to have.

I began taking levaquin on February 16, 2005 and took 500 mg/day for 4 days for bronchitis. The first night I woke up hurting in my hips and elbows. The next two nights I woke up with severe aching in joints and bones and a throbbing head ache, the last night I woke up with severe aching. When running errands on Saturday my feet and legs throbbed and cramped. It felt like the flu, only worse and I had to force myself to eat. This is a horrible drug and I will never take it again. It helped clear my chest some, still a little wheezing, but my head is still not clear from the sinus. What's wrong with a good old z-pac? Today is Tuesday, I did rest better the last two nights but still do not feel well, still achy and just don't feel like things are right with my body.

Started on Levaquin 500 mg five days ago for a sinus infection and suffered severe cramps in my back after on it for less than 12 hrs. The cramps have fortunately largely abated by now, but last night I woke up with acid reflux and decided to take OTC Prilosec for it. An hour later I experienced the most vivid and horrific nightmares of my life! I couldn't get out of them and they felt like waking hallucinations. Would be interested in whether anyone else has experienced nightmares with Levaquin alone, or in combination with other drugs like Prilosec.

Oh My Goodness, I wish I would have read all these wonderful post before last night. My doctor put me on this horrible medicine. I developed a very bad sore throat and lost my voice for three days. During this time I was so worn out and tired all the time! My doctor said I had a viral infection, I got better and started taking the medicine again, last night. I woke up with a sore throat and tonight after work I am throwing all this medicine away. I don't like all the side affects headache, constant thirst, weight gain, etc.. Bye Bye Singular

OK. This is a really weird one. I was taking doxy for a 'suspected' case of Lyme (I won't even go there for this post! Its a whole other story) .I was prescribed 200mgs per day, but all the Lyme patients i spoke with said you had to take a lot more. Just to be "on the safe side" I upped the dosage to 300mgs a day, (the lowest dosage sanctioned by the experienced Lyme docs at ilads.org,) administered 8 hours apart. Four days after upping the dosage I was sitting on the couch when my left wrist felt numb, then my left side of my face momentarily went a little numb. At the same time i got really dizzy and faint. I felt really strange, like everything seemed unreal and glistening. I was rushed to the Er and 4 hours and $3000 worth of tests later (I have a $5000 deductible) I was discharged given the diagnosis of a TIA (mini stroke) meaning all the tests were negative and that's what they guessed. The thing is, I'm only 52, look 44 (objectively) am not overweight, don't smoke , exercise regularly and have low blood pressure. There is no history whatsoever of heart disease in my family. The only risk factor is elevated cholesterol. The point is, I'm a relatively low risk for stroke. My own doctor saw me a few days later. I still was dizzy and out of it. TIA symptons resolve thenselves in 24 hours He was certain I had not had a stroke and thought that all these symptoms could possibly have been caused by aside effect of doxycycline, intracranial hypertension, or in layman's terms, pressure on the brain. Yow...I stopped taking the stuff for a day and a half and felt almost normal. My doc thought i should take one a day and after a couple of days go up to the 200mg suggested dosage, but when I took just one last night, I woke up with similar symptoms, although not quite as pronounced as before. They persisted all day, gradually dropping off.

I have now stopped taking the stuff and am beginning to feel a little better. I have never had a negative reaction to antibiotics before, but after this I will be very reticent to try then again, unless I am dying or something. I am finished with doxy. All in all, a nasty and very expensive experience. (unless of course, I really DID have a TIA!)

I have taken Yasmin for two weeks, and yes I understand that it takes a while for your body to adjust.....but my symptoms (along with most of these others, were abnormal). The first couple days I experienced shortness of breath and chest pain. Then came the worst cramps of my life. My period has lasted the entire time that I have taken the pill. I also have felt itchy on my arms (when I normally do not at all). Last night I woke up with a transient but sharp pain in one area of my chest. After these symptoms along with feeling extreme fatigue (so much so that all I want to do is stay home), I have decided to stop taking this medication. Yasmin has a very high dosage of hormones, which does not comply with sensitive systems. It also has a diuretic in it, which makes you have to go to the bathroom all the time. Be cautious of what you put in your body; we were not made to naturally accept such invasive products.

I just took my second pill of Yasmin last night. I woke up continuously gasping for air through the night. This morning I feel like someone's arms are around my chest squeezing me. I'm waiting for a callback from my doctor's nurse anytime now. I was on Depo for four years with no side effects and no period. I miss Depo and think I will go back on it now.

4 days ago my doctor perscribed Levaquin for my acute bronchitis. The first night after taking one dose of Levaquin, I was unable to sleep due to uncontrolable twitching of my legs. The next two days (still taking the medication) I felt exhausted, drained, no energy, nervous. My legs felt week.
My eyes were watery and itchy. Last night I woke up in the night and my left eye was very watery and swollen. Also, feeling slightly depressed.
