My doctor thinks I might have PCOS, which is why I went in the first place after reading up on the subject. I've always had random periods, and if I miss a couple months, they can last up to a month with heavy bleeding. I thought it might be wise to go get some help in regulating. At 27, I'm tired of 15 years like this. She gave me Loestrin24Fe because when I took birth control in high school for about two weeks, I turned into a raging monster that would have attacked anyone.

I'm on my second week of the pack, and bleeding heavy. I have an opposite schedule than most people (I'm naturally a late night to early morning person and no amount of work changes it) so I take it when I get up in the afternoon (around 5pm). I've been bleeding the same way I bleed when I haven't had a period in four months. This? Is unacceptable. If I wanted unreliability, I'd have just avoided getting an OBGYN in the first place.

Reading the side effects and replies here, I'm also wondering if the weird episode I had last week is related. I woke up dizzy when I went to the bathroom. I remember getting dizzy twice in there at random times, nearly falling against my tub, and then falling in my bedroom, passed out for a couple hours. I also had a severe migraine, like no lights could be on, not even the computer as back lighting so I don't stumble in the dark. I'm lucky that I wasn't concussed, but this is just not okay.

Later today, I'm going to call my doc since I need to call my endocrinologist anyway for sick meds. And I'm stopping the pills today. I got off my bed after takeout last night, to clean up, and noticed this insane amount of blood underneath that bled onto the mattress. No more of this.

I took Ambien CR for about 2 years and have experienced not only memory loss of the time while on the medication, but also longer term memory loss as well. Even now I find it hard to remember significant things from years ago that I would normally be able to remember easily, and I am only 24. No reason for memory loss and it all started with the Ambien CR. I have done the drive and not remember thing, the cleaning with no recollection of it the next day, the wondering who ate all the food, etc. At one point I actually called my employer at 3AM to explain what I was still doing awake. I worked day shift and had off the next day anyway! I woke up to a voice mail from the supervisor and found out I was fired. I had zero memory of the incident and thought I was being set up by someone until I checked my cell phone records and found it to be true. Friends have also questioned me about late night calls and visits, some I somewhat remember after being "reminded," some I did not. When I was first prescribed this medication I was having these crazy nightmares before I actually fell asleep and would act them out or run from them. One was a young girl playing ball in the road and my boyfriend said I actually ran out in the street at to save her and fought him when he tried to bring me back inside. Obviously no one was actually playing in the road. Even towards the end of using the drug at times I will go through the first few hours of the day with the same forgetful effect that I would have had the night before. I have also gained 20 pounds, not sure if it's from the excessive night eating or the sluggish feeling I got the next day. Once the pill kicked in for me at night I would feel a sudden urge to finish up household chores, or get what some people call "the creative phase" of Ambien CR. I would write poetry (illegibly), cook (usually starting small fires), draw (not well), redecorate, and talk philosophically, none of which I remember. The pill works wonderfully as long as you go straight to bed. After using it awhile you may recognize the energized feeling as actually being the reverse, the pill taking effect, and I could go to bed and fall right to sleep. But I had quite a few dangerous situations and I wouldn’t be able to take it when I was home alone, just in case I missed that "deadline." I agree it is a very risky drug, but then again most drugs are. I do not suggest taking this if you are alone at least until you experience the way you react to it. If these symptoms are an issue for you as well you can always try Lunesta. That worked quite well for me, with none of these weird side effects. The worst I got was a weird taste in the morning, which subsided with breakfast.

I am so glad to have found this site. I thought I was slowly losing my mind. Did late-night binge eating, house cleaning, paid bills on-line - all with no memory of it the following day. As the medication would start to work, I had a nightly "conversation" with myself about how worthless I was, how I deserved to have all kind of bad things happen, etc. I wouldn't have these kind of thoughts during the day. I haven't taken it for 5 days now after 10 months of continuous use. The first night was as if I had consumed a pot of coffee, tossing and turning, with practically no sleep. But each night it's gotten better. When I weigh the side effects against the benefits, for me it's not difficult to say I'd rather have my sanity back!

I have been on generic Paxil 30 mg for 4-5 months. Overall, my anxiety and depression are much better. I no longer have severe nervous breakdowns. My only complaints are that I am tired all the time and I have gained about 10 pounds. If I don't force myself to get out of the house in the morning, I end up napping on the couch all day long (which is bad because I have two young children that end up watching tv all day). The weight gain is due to me eating nonstop at night. I don't know if the drug is to blame for the late night cravings and the tiredness but overall it is worth it.

I came to this site by accident and when I started to read the postings, it brought back horrible memories. I was on prednisone several years ago prescribed for an arthritic condition. I was 21. Despite asking my consultant he said there were no side effects for me to worry about. In two weeks I had put on two stone most of it either on my face or abdomen. My hair would come out whenever I had a shower and washed it. I constantly looked like I'd had a very late night with a punch up at the end of it (black circled eyes and body covered with bruises) and I felt like my mind was in a constant fog and I was very depressed. But despite all that I felt great! The pain was gone, I could clean the house like a whirlwind. I felt like Superwoman ... except after a manic activity session, I would have exhausted myself and the pain would be even more intense. Eventually I was taken off the drug (a decison made by my doctor and my husband as they felt it was doing me more harm than good). For two years after taking the drug, I still had some of the effects mainly the one that bothered me the most, the weight gain. I tried everything to shift it and couldn't lose it. But after those two years when the drug was finally clear of my system, I did lose the weight. I would like to wish everyone who is on this drug well, I know how devastating the side effects can be and I also know how important it is to have something to lessen the pain. Rest assured that if you do come off the drug the side effects do go away, but that it often takes a long time to be back to your old self.
