I am a 25 year old female who at 24 had never had any experience with birth control other than a quick prescription to a generic hormone to take care of a long period at 16 (due to stress.) Only a few pills were taken and I was fine. Now, at 25 I have been on YAZ for a year. I began taking it because I became sexually active at 24. Why? Well, I was mature both mentally and physically. I have had friends who became sexually active at a young age and who started birth control young. The side effects were pretty dramatic. I had seen a slim friend gain a whole lot of water weight. She even said it was the patch and later monthly injection causing the problem but the side effect was well worth the pregnancy prevention. I was against the use of birth control due to my preconceived notion of horrible side effects. However, once the monogamous sexual activity began I knew that I needed to take something. I had heard about YAZ and knew that it was something new and different. A different hormone used for prevention. I researched the pill and looked into any side effects. The posts I found seemed a little too ridiculous. I decided to find actual accounts and spoke to a co-worker who had been using YAZ for awhile. In fact, the majority of females I know use the product with no problem. Thus, after my yearly checkup I requested YAZ. My gyno welcomed the suggestion and even gave me several packs for free. It’s been a year without a problem. However, this morning I was hounded by my mother because there is a warning and lawsuit against YAZ and YASMIN (seen by a commercial-lawsuit.) This is due to severe side effects and death associated with blood-clots (when presented with heart disease, diabetes, etc.) I am a healthy 25 year old that frequents the gym weekly. I do not smoke. I drink every now and then. NO SIDE EFFECTS. My period starts after the 3rd pill is taken. It is quick and simple. I enjoy being able to plan things around my period. Cramps are light compared to what I use to go through. I can take one Ibuprofen the day of the third non-active pill and not feel a thing. I use to have horrible leg cramps and now I have no problem. My pre-menstrual mood has improved and I think it is because my period is no longer a strong factor in my life. I use to dread it and now I welcome it. I do not have any skin issues, no bloating, and no weight gain. Heartburn occurrence which is slim to none is similar to what I would have had before YAZ. I was appalled to find this site and to discover that people are having problems. I do not understand why people are so quick to blame this pill on everything. It seems like a lot of users who are posting on this site are extremely young. The body is still growing and maturing at 18 and even into the early 20’s. In my late teens, I was extremely moody and stressed due to college, etc. Any hormonal regulation then would have probably put me overboard! I am going for my yearly check up next month and will discuss this lawsuit with my gyno. I am concerned about this lawsuit. More importantly, I am concerned that this pill will be taken off the market. Call me a statistic but I like YAZ and would recommend it.

Trouble breathing, congestive heart failure, spent 72 hours in the hospital and the bill was $9000.00 because of Lyrica. Swelling of hands, feet and face, with fluid on my lungs...it helped the pain, it was totally gone, Also had depression and rapid weight gain.
Are there any law suits pending?

i have had my mirena for about 1 1/2 months now, and so far i love it, i have had the spotting for the first month which doesn't bother me and now my period is on and i do have very bad diarrhea which im sure is associated with the period more than the mirena itself. haven't had any lack of sex drive in fact i 've wanted to have more sex, and i haven't' been irritable or anything else, so some of the side effects i believe everyone is having may be made up, think about it if you read over and over and over again how bad the mirena is your going to begin to feel that way i know if i tell myself that my arm hurts all day long then eventually it feels like it hurts..neways all im saying is relax stop reading these scary ass posts and do something to take your mind off of it, i know 3 other people who have the mirena that live down the road from me and NONE of them have had any of these problems...ladies i think you are just trying to find something to blame it on...

oh please your all a bunch of whiners. I don't understand that when people get something medically new that they seem to blame every little thing on it!!! seriously!!! if it were so bad it would not be on the market..... i have had it for two years.....a little cramping in the beginning which is NORMAL and as STATED on the side effects list. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND that these are listed because they DO AND HAVE happened to other people. That is why they are listed! NOW if you died, got cancer, pregnant or what have you then you can bitch. BUT PLEASE don't complain about the LISTED side effects. it is a wonderful product and it does just as it claims. yea the cramping sucks....the spotting is a pain.....men can feel it during intercourse and yes sometimes they can bump it and hurt you. also it causes cysts to grow on your ovaries which can sometimes require surgery. it can also grow outside your uterine wall at time. and it can fall out. all kinds of things can happen that are LISTED. what i would recommend people should do BEFORE they leap into bed with a new contraceptive is RESEARCH the SIDE EFFECTS BEFORE you decide you want it or not. its simple read the damn sheet and decide if you can live with the side effects. maybe one....or all...or none. THEN DECIDE.

I am trying to find out if there are any law suits filed against the makers of this horrible medication. Does anyone know of any??
I stopped Lisinopril 40 mg Aug 28th after reading comments from from this site. My life has changed drastically -- I am "ME" again. I started in Feb 2006 at 10 mg and gradually increased to 40 mg in early 2007. I became increasingly tired to the point of severe exhaustion which started with a hoarness of voice and instantly all energy just drained from my body. I became depressed in a way I knew that medicine would not help. I had diarrhea that seemed to me was caused by a change in the GI medication that changed because my insurance would not cover the one I had been on for several years. My family became concerned about my confusion, loss of caring about just about anything and refusing to leave the house only when really necessary. I was tested etc. for so many times and all tests were normal.
I am still having some relapse into the above problems especially when I get really tired but I am tired because of overdoing. I am having so much fun living again.

Is this normal??? I inserted NuvaRing for the first time August 26th. (During my exam). My NP said it would be okay to start then (although my last period was 08/11), but to use additional contraception. My husband and I have been using condoms since the birth of my daughter 2 years ago - so we continued like normal. Twenty minutes after my appointment, I became very nauseated. The following day I had a severe metallic taste in my mouth and a pounding headache. I became extremely tired (falling asleep at 8:30pm) and got very achy, especially arms and legs. I felt like I was on diet pills or drugs (jetty feeling, trouble spitting out words, racing thoughts). The symptoms would be gone in the morning, but come back as the day wore on. The problems became so bad that I took the Ring out on 08/31. (Holiday weekend, no NP on duty). I called the doctor's office on Tuesday. They said that I probably coincidentally caught a virus. It is now 09/07. My symptoms have become better day by day since removing the Ring, but the metallic taste is now a soap taste and I still have occasional nausea. Shouldn't the hormones be gone by now? How long will this last? Anybody????

am reading that there have been no law suits with levaquin due to tort reform, high legal fees, and the fact that there have not been any class action lawsuits to date. Does the black box warning give us the green light if we incurred the symptoms before it was allowed to appear in print? I don't know what hit me since this started. I wonder if others have had any diagnostic tests that give a factual background to these subjective descriptions of our pain?

Unfortunately my lawyer told me that they do not want to take our case because of the lack of evidence that Singulair has caused our daughters problems. :(
Does anyone out there have a pending class action lawsuit that We may be able to get in on? I have tons of proof that Singulair has caused our daughters problems and loss of almost 5 years of her elementary school career!
My phone number is *** and my email is ****** if You email me please put "Singulair" in Your subject line so I know it pertains to this posting.
Thank You in advance,

I started Bactrim for a UTI and felt horrible the whole time. Sick to my stomach, trouble breathing, headaches, loss of appetite. Once I asked my husband to call 911 because I almost passed out. But then I said, wait, let me settle down. I did that and continue with the medication thinking it was the UTI. Then I went to urgent care because I was suffering from a yeast infection from the Bactrim too. The 9th day on Bactrim I got worse, I started to break out in hives. By the 10th day I rush to urgent care covered head to toe in hives with trouble breathing and bumps on my tongue and mouth and throat. The doctor said, you're are having an allergic reaction to the Bactrim. He gave me a shot of cortisone and Prednisone l for the inflammation. My stomach is swollen, my body aches, I still have a terrible yeast infection and read that if you have fungal and are taking Prednisone, that's not good either. So I am at odds because my breathing is labored and I am hoping the Prednisone works and I can make it another day or else, I will go to the emergency tonight. This is no fun....I sent this list of complaints to the FDA's attention today. I hope they listen and look at this page seriously and all those who continue to write.

I went on levaquin-2 rounds of it, due to pneumonia. I felt very out of sorts and discombobulated. Dizzyness, word recall problems, insomnia, diahrrea. My tongue was coated with a thick white film. One night my tongue and my hand felt very disconnected to me, and I had a strange but familiar taste or sensation in my mouth but I couldn't name it. It lasted 3 or 4 minutes. I think I may have had a petit mal seizure. I have been having trouble with my vision, things I read are blurry now, and I have never worn glasses, or had vision problems before. I have been off of this medication for 6 days now, and I am still feeling some of these side effects. I rarely have any side effects from medications. I will never take this again.

Update on ring removal...I took my ring out July 13 after reading everyones side effects on here and realizing the horrible way I'd been feeling was because of the ring. The first week after it was out was not so pleasant my period started the next day with horrible cramping, it only lasted 2 days though and was totally worth it. The mood swings and irratability lasted for about a week after it was out and was pretty severe. After getting past that though Ive felt fantastic, my energy is back, Im sleeping through the night, no more discharge, not a single headache in 3 weeks. The biggest change though has been my mood, I feel like my old self again, no more crying and psycho irrational thoughts. I will NEVER use the NR again, looking back on the whole expeirence I felt like I was poisoned by it mentally and physically. I urge everyone to tell any women you know about this site if they are on NR, it really pisses me off this BC is being marketed as "safe", from my own experience and others Ive read about it's anything but. If you look at all the law suits being filed against NR, and past meds like vioxx, phen phen, and the countless others that are marketed as "safe" and approved by the FDA, it is apparent that "safe" is used loosely in an attempt to generate profits and dollars, even if it means putting peoples lives and in NR's case also mental health in jeapordy. You should decide for yourself of course if your going to quit using NR but from my own experience taking it out was the best thing Ive ever done for my own health and safety.

I had pneumonia 3 times in 2004 and was prescribed Levaquin every month for 3 months. I began having terrible burning sensations in my arms, then legs and hips. After 2 months I was unable to even get out of bed. Lab tests showed high levels of inflammation in my system and I saw 3 different autoimmune specialists trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Then I had bronchitis 3 weeks ago and was put on the Levaquin again. My still present muscle pain became excrutiating and my finger joints started hurting. Then I realized it was the Levaquin!! Thousands of dollars and hundreds of tests later, I am sure it was the drug. It is time to start an active campaign with the FDA to get this medication off the market. Maybe a few major law suits will get the ball rolling.

All I can say is that I sound like guest no. 2kclark. Same age etc. I have 3 herniated discs, need artificial disc surgery but thank god i have been scared and skeptical since law suits are coming out on the charite disc. further i was then diagnosed with CFS (EBV) and fibromyalgia and AS (ankylosing spondilytis). I also apparently have a rotator cuff tear....all because of incidents at work...of which i am embroiled in a heated law suit over. my rheumatologist has given me 2 shots over the last 90 days. this last one was 2.5 weeks ago and i am still hardly walking around because of it. i feel like i have the flu and any act of normalcy is completed with shear painful effort. i called another doctor who wanted to inject my spine and told them that i was not having any injections for awhile bc of the reaction that i had to this 'kenolog' shots. to my surprise the lady said yes she had heard about those - the are like 'chemo'. her friend has lupus - she said others patients have had something but not sure what, and they are having a hard time with the shots. apparently 3 bad weeks then 1 good week just to go back and get another shot. well not me. just thought yall might want to know this. it apparently is for the pain? which is what i got it for....which it helped that but the fatigue and numbness across my entire body and the feeling of dying, i think i would rather have the pain. and no, i was not told of the effects either.

I took Reglan for the majority of my last pregnancy in 2001, shortly after the birth of my son I developed restless legs syndrome. I had no clue what was wrong, but basically thought I was going crazy. I have recently gotten my RN and am training in a surgical unit. At work today one of the more experienced nurses told me that if you give Reglan too fast by IV that it can cause people to feel like they have bugs on them and that it is severe. This prompted me to research the drug more because I had not previously linked the two. I have found that there are law suits against the maker of this drug for very serious neurological side effects. I seriously advise anyone being given this drug for long term use to research it and discuss the long term effects with their MD.

I am 61 years old, very fit and I exercise rather vigorously 2-3 times a week. I was given a free sample and a 7-day prescription for Levaquin by an urgent care physician. By the third day I was unable to pick up my coffee mug with one hand and had difficulty even using two hands due to weakness, muscle pain and joint stiffness. Since my PCP was out of town, I cut the pills in half. By the 6th day my heart was skipping every 4th or 5th beat and I had mild chest pain and gout-like symptoms in both big toes. I did not complete the last dose, as I was afraid it would kill me. Two weeks later, I continue to experience difficulty going from lying to standing and from sit to stand. I have to stand for a moment and then as I begin to walk, I am so bent and stiff that I look like something out of a nursing home. Once I begin walking, the pain and stiffness dissipates considerably, but the weakness is intermittent. I walked through Lowe's yesterday and wasn't sure I was going to make it to the other end of the store. I am having difficulty opening jars and bottles and even lifting pillows to make beds seems to be difficult. My hands are hot and swollen for a considerable time after getting out of bed. I am a medical transcriptionist, so this interferes with my typing. The pain, stiffness and weakness appear to be worsening and I am very concerned.
Caveat emptor! Apparently, big pharmacies make billions and then find it more profitable to pay a few law suits than to pull such poison off the market.

I absolutly agree that someone needs to take notice of the aggressive/depressive side effects of this med.
My familly went to hell and back when my son was on this med. Yesterday while meeting a new Psychologist, I mentioned this, he was very intersested as he had never heard about this reaction. We need to get the word out.
I have even contacted an atty who deals in medical law suits,he would not consider a case against without a recall, perhaps we need to gather names and force a recall of this med. Anyone have more ideas on this topic ?

I'm 23 and just started Loestrin 24. I noticed the negative side effects immediately- nausea, cramping, constant headache, breakthrough bleeding, and severe depression. In general, I feel sick and unwell; ironically, I feel like I'm in the first trimester of a pregnancy. My doctor told me it may take a few cycles for me to adjust to this pill but I don't think I want to commit to a pill that causes this many adverse health problems. I think a baby would be less hassle!
