I got this thing put in just over a week ago (4/16/09). I wasn't thrilled with the idea in the first place, but I can't take the pill and my husband is sick of condoms. I don't want any more kids (I have 3) but I'm not ready for him or me to get "fixed". Anyway. The nurse practitioner was the one putting it in and she told me if there were any problems she wasn't doing it, she'd wait until one of the gyns was in the office. I had a LEAP ten years ago and she thought it would be fine since I'd had two kids after that, but she said sometimes there was scar tissue from the LEAP and it could be difficult to insert the Mirena. The NP was having trouble getting the big q-tip thing through but the nurse assisting her opened the Mirena package so the NP said she'd try one more time and SHOVED the thing through. OUCH!!!!! Then she put the Mirena in which was extremely painful. I was told I might have a "little" cramping. Yeah, right. For the next three days it felt like I was having contractions on my left side. It was awful. Since then I've had headaches every day. I had a migraine a few days ago and I haven't had one of those in ten years. The headaches are horrible tension headaches that won't go away when I take something for them. I'm still bleeding, but just enough to need to wear something. Has anyone with the Mirena had headaches that have gone away or do they continue until this thing comes out?

I am a 51 year old female with lyme disease and co infected with Bartonella who previous to getting sick was very anti medical establishment and very anti--antibiotic.
After 8 months of treatment with other horrible antibiotics I decided to try Levaquin, even after reading these horror stories as I was desperate for relief. I expected ill effects from the moment I swallowed the first pill but by the 4th of 5th day my pain and brain fog began to recede and I am almost through with my second month and I feel positively human. I have had headaches nausea depression etc etc for 10 months so I can't say these things are related to the Levaquin. I do have tightness in my ankles and wrists but some tender tendons and swollen joints have actually improved. I am also taking 3000 mg of Amoxicillin so that make contribute to the relief. My doctor is very aware of the side effects and encourages me to pay a lot of attention to my body and limit any exercise or actions that strain the ligaments.
I believe this is a very very powerful antibiotic that is being used randomly and needs more research to determine who is at risk for these horrible side effects before it is prescribed in such a broad monner. I am happy for the forum and the discussion and the opportunity to make a leap toward health with this drug.

I cannot take the leg and muscle cramps anymore. I am stopping Advair today - Jan.9, 2006. I have been on it for about 5 years. I need to actually sleep through the night without my feet/legs waking me up and making me leap from bed. The pain after an 8 mile mnt hike trip on this past Saturday, even after a long soak in a friend's hot tub, lead me to this site. I could certainly do without all of the phlegm, too.
If ANYONE finds a different drug we can use, please post it. I am going to try just singular for now.
