I cannot contribute - in the same way as other posters, I can add a side effect of getting of all birth control pills-- health. The pill seems to act by mimicking the first trimester symptoms of pregnancy in many ways - explains many of the symptoms. Can you imagine being 1st trimester-pregnant for years? I cannot understand why women will use un-natural, non-organic foreign substances in their bodies with possibly deadly side effects - yet swear by organic soy milk, veggies what have you -seems a bit schizophrenic. Better to wait for the man who would love you fully and not ask you to hurt yourself so he can use you for sex. We become just like the men here, this is so sad to me. Instead of being "liberated" we, (not the men) become slave to the pill. And then we don't get he freedom or the man. Try organic sex, in the ways God intended, much healthier.

I have been experiencing dry throat for about 4.5 months now and I started taking Necon about 5 months ago. The dry throat is persistent and I was wondering if any one else has had this side effect.

Well i have been on Aviane for almost a week now and i have noticed a change in my sex drive it has decreased and even when i try "she" is completely dry. Also I noticed that I have a "I don't really care attitude". I was on Levora first and i had no problems like the ones above but I switched because I would get a yeast-infection every time i stop taking them to get my cycle! Now i am just confused and don't know which way to go. I have tried the Depo shot (bleed for three months), and the ring (bleed on and off for two months). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is my 2nd post to this med. I stopped taking it and a miracle happened. I am no longer depressed and have very little anxiety I also do not have anymore ocd thoughts. At first I thought I was suffering from ppd which I do have but I found out that bc pills can contribute to mood disorders. So all you ladies out there that are suffering with mood changes you might want to consider going off for a while. I feel so much better I cant even begin

I hated it, I was always tired, retaining water so horribly that if I pushed on my leg a mold of my fingerprint would remain. I had sore breasts and my skin was a bit more oily. Loss of libido as well. I changed to Levora and within a month my legs were back to normal, my chest is no longer sore and my libido is back.

I'm so glad I googled side effects of Yasmin and found this site. All of the sudden my mood swings for the past almost YEAR make sense. I started out fine. The pill was great, and I haven't had to worry about acne at all. Of course I gained a few pounds, but not too much. However, I'm a pre medical student trying to study for the MCAT this summer. I've been SO tired and drained and majorly depressed that I just can't seem to concentrate. I feel like I'm always crying over the stupidest stuff (AKA: no reason at ALL), and my grades are starting to suffer. Hopefully now that I've read this, I can stop taking this pill and see an improvement. It's just not worth the depression. I'm 22 right now, and until recently had never had a suicidal thought. I was starting to panic, because I couldn't identify the cause of my depression. I'm a good student, have lots of friends, and have the most amazing boyfriend and family. Life is good, I shouldn't feel this bad. Now that I have a clue as to what this may be, I can fix it.

So i began taking the birth control pill as a way to regulate my period and decrease cramping. Needless to say, i started with Alesse and all was fine, except i broke out badly on my back (i have never had acne especially in that area before).. so i switched to Yasmin and have been on it for a few months. Yasmin was great in removing the acne and regulating my period. I now have it for 4 days instead of 6 and my cramps are entirely gone. Recently however i began experiencing headaches and slight bouts of depression. The depression isn't very extreme, but i am feeling a lot more tired than usual, i'm sleeping a lot, and most importantly i've been feeling melancholic and indifferent about things. Therefore i have decided to stop taking it as of today (during my pack) and see if my mood changes. It isn't worth doing this to yourself.

Hey ladies,
When I was prescribed Yasmin a couple of months ago, I found this website and was more than a little hesitant to start taking it. However, bearing in mind that everyone has different reactions to different pills, I started last month despite all of the crazy side-effects I read here.
I have been taking birth control for about 4 years to regulate my period. I started with Zovia when I was 15 and gained about 20 pounds within the first few months.
I then started taking Levora, which literally made me insane. I was crying all the time and had anxiety attacks to the point where I couldn't eat or sleep. I had increased blood pressure, and I was driving everyone around me crazy.
I switched to Trivora, and it was more of the same.
I have been on Yasmin for over a month now and I love it. I have not gained any weight, and the anxiety and depression I was experiencing with Levora and Trivora are completely non-existent. I feel like I have absolutely no side-effects whatsoever.
After reading this website, I took into consideration all of the side-effects many people were experiencing, and I waited a month before starting Yasmin. I took this time to monitor my moods, appetite, emotions, sex drive, weight, etc to know how I felt being off birth control before starting a new one. I feel that, if anyone else is having doubts about whether or not you should start using a new birth control pill, it's important to first understand your body and emotions so that you can pinpoint and monitor your changes if and when they occur.
Good luck everyone,
Marie
