I was prescribed Lisinopril last September due to hypertension level blood pressure that was at "emergent level" as determined in the ER. I had no other pre-heart attack symptoms other than headaches at night in sleep..

Prior to taking the RX I was doing 1 hr gym works outs 3-4 times per week, walk/jogging 3 times per wk 2-3 mi ea. NOW I'm lethargic and fighting to keep active. Joints are easily taxed and take several days to weeks to recover from what used to be routine.. Cough is dry and hits at night or day and leaves a general feeling of fatigue. Memory is impaired. Twitching muscles all over like little electrical impulses being shot off and extreme cramping of upper leg muscles when sitting down to stretch. Intermittent "heart flutters". Nothing I've every experienced before.

I'm heading in for followup now that I've read this forum. I had no idea of the severity of side effects. Here I thought I was being saved from eminent heart attack or stroke.

Raising two children and can afford to be lethargic or forgetful or worse.

Thank you all for your postings. You are indeed the life savers.

D.

I'm so relieved I found this site! I've been on Quasense for TWELVE DAYS and I am in a living hell, I feel like a prisoner in my own mind. Ever since I started taking these pills my mood has plummeted. So severely I had to see a psychiatrist! I am not generally a sad person, so when I realized I was constantly depressed for a week straight, I thought of what had changed just recently, and what do you know? This is the pill from hell. Today is the day I decided to just stop taking them all together.

Just found your site. Pretty good stuff. I have been dealing with kidney disease for over 12 years. Had a transplant 7 years ago and have been dealing with some complications for about 1 year. After the transplant I was on 80mg of prednisone then evetually reduced to 5 mg. Due to the complications I'm back up to 40mg everyday. I get pretty much the same side effects as everybody. I'm 42 and can tell you that you CAN overcome the effects of this drug. It's not easy though. The depression is the most difficult. Be sure to let anyone who is close to you know that you are dealing with issues that require "special understanding." Tell them that you will probably be cranky then try to be aware when you are. Own the problem and work to keep it in line - its hard work but you KNOW it is not your normal self and you can force the uncomfortable feelings to a minimum. The cramping is irritating but it beats waking upon the other side of the grass! Remember that you have life - do what you can in every way you can. I take life savers candies as a "pill" for my hunger and drink lots of water instead of soda. That helps with the weight gain. Ice cold water seems to help - I keep a 1/2 full container in the freezer then add water to the ice and put it in the fridge. Popsicles also work. The ice cold sensation can be very satisfying. Good luck - when the treatment is reduced the side effects do wane.
