I am so glad that I found this site. I was beginning to feel like I was losing my mind. I have been on Yasmin for only 2 months but have been experiencing many of the side effects mentioned- fatigue, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, anxiety, dizziness, and flu-like symptoms. I had these same symptoms when I was on Yaz last year. I wound up going to the hospital for shortness of breath and chest pain. The doctor thought it may be blood clots, but after testing he diagnosed me with bronchitis and asthma (I am 26- never had either in my life). There is definitely something wrong with these pills. I do have anxiety and currently take Xanax. But I have not had panic attacks like this since I was on the pill last year. Sometimes I need to think about breathing to catch my breath and lately it had been hard for me to sleep because my heart is racing. My periods have been lighter and my migraines less severe, but it is not worth it to continue on Yasmin.

My doctor (PA, actually) prescribed Lisinopril a few weeks ago because I'm diabetic and she said it would help protect my kidneys as well as lower my moderately-high blood pressure. Things went well for a couple of weeks, but the past few days have been unbearable. Not much of a cough, but I feel terribly weak, exhausted, and I can hardly think at all--am very confused, and can barely write this note (strange for a professional writer, eh?). I also have trouble walking, am quite dizzy and out of breath, and have severe muscle cramps; feels almost like my nervous system is shutting down. And truly, I feel like it could kill me. I was grateful to read all of your comments; makes me know that I'm not alone. I will have to discontinue this medication, as I simply cannot function while using it. (I'm a 62-year-old female, by the way.) Thanks again for your comments, and I wish you all luck and happiness.

SAVA102503 AND ANYONE ELSE WONDERING ABOUT ELECTROSHOCK THERAPY: It should ONLY be done as a last resort!! In my experience, I had it once in my early twenties and it had only a temporary effect on my depression, ZAPPED my short term memory and I had PTSD from it for YEARS!! Please know that there ARE community mental health clinics for those who have no money, and they are lifesavers. Find one!! Good luck.

I was actually looking for side effect info. on some of the current BP meds I am taking. My dentist has suggested some problems w/ staining & rotting be be related to a beta-blocker or from depending on lifesavers to bring my blood sugar up on a regular basis. While they don't want to advise me against something that works, I am trying to move back toward fresh fruits for low sugar instead. But, I have been taking Toprol for a little over a yr. and am reasonably pleased w/it. The dr. initially prescribed 50mg, but gave me samples in the 25mg - since i have had a lot of problems w/side effects w/several meds, I started the first few days w/this dose and was satisfied, feeling better and the BP was normal. So I inquire w/them about staying at that dose and their nurse recommended I do what the dr. said to do - so, I bump my dose up to the 50mg and start getting low pressure and feel sick all over, cold feet - it was awful (I have my own BP meter at home too, the ones in the pharmacy are not always accurate). But, called the dr. office again and the actual dr. me back and when I explained the difference in the effects between the two doses, she said to stick w/the 25mg. Had I not tried this out at a lower dose I would not have been willing to continue w/this med had it made me feel that bad on the first day or a few days after.

I also have Type I Diabetes and was a smoker for 17.5 yrs. I became more motivated when I was diagnosed w/COPD of the emphasema type and my breathing was restricted for a couple of days as a result. I found an online group called (I think if i remember correctly) Smoke No More and I also took an herbal supplement (a sleep aid) called Valerian every 4-6 hours to releive the axiety of the withdrawel. Otherwise, I had tried the Zyban and/or Wellebutrin, but could not take it, it eventually made me very short of breath w/chest discomfort.

Best Wishes, I have otherwise also tried several ACE Inhibitors with not a whole lot of luck - but Endocrinologist are very big on these for the kidney protection - but if that is what you are taking, there are quite a few different types out there.
