I am a 34 year old male and was on Lipitor for 3 weeks. I had muscle cramps in my shins and the bottom of my feet. I was light headed, dizzy and suffered from nausea. I didn't have any energy or sex drive. I didn't attribute it to the Lipitor right away. I thought I had MS, ALS, muscular dystrophy, etc. I told my doctor about the symptoms and he told me to stop taking the Lipitor. I've been off of the Lipitor for almost two weeks now and the nausea and dizziness are gone. My energy is getting better each day, but I'm still not 100%. The muscles in the bottom of my feet and shins are also getting better but still not 100%. I take a bath every night just to get relief from the symptoms. My doctor has since told me to take CoQ10 to help battle the side effects of Lipitor. He doesn't know how long these side effects will last. Does anyone know how long I can expect these side effects to last? Are they permanent?
I will praise Lipitor for one thing - The side effects caused by it have scared me in to changing my diet and exercise regimen (when I return to being healthy) so I never have to take a drug of this type again.

i am a 58 year-old male who suffered a heart attack two years ago. i was immediately prescribed a 50 mg dose of toprol once a day. since that day i have experienced a severe sense of being light headed, dizzy all the time. so extreme at times people and friends thought i had a drinking problem, t times could not even walk. I also experienced what one doctor thought was rabdomyalisfrom taking lipitor. another doctor states it is peripherial neuropathy from diabetes. I get that i cannot walk or stand. my legs just give out. but..............since i have stopped taking toprol i have not experienced any of those side effects again. 100% turn around. the risk with toprol is just not worth it.

I have posted here from time to time to ask if anyone here has ever experienced withdrawing slowly from Lisinopril to get it out of the system ?
I need to know how long it takes to be completely clean of this horrendous drug.
My brother has been weaning off it for many months but still the side affects of tingling in the feet, heat, tension in the body, light-headed dizzy in the head are all still lingering.
I would appreciate some input on the subject of weaning down from Lisinopril to almost a few grains and how long it takes to get it completely out of the system ?
Please feel free to e-mail me: nadia@pronetisp.net

I was given sulfameth/trimetoprim for and ear infection and the first dose made my tongue feel like it was swelling up,then I noticed my hands and feet were very cold, and I felt light headed, dizzy and my throat felt like it was swelling up or like i had a lump in my throat .By the time i got to my fifth pill i could not sleep,i could feel my heart beating in my back and when i took a sip of water it felt just like my thorat had a massive lumpin it. At that point i called my doctor and they said that i definitly had an allergic reation to the medicine. Now the doctor is going to switch my medicine but i am still feeling bad and am afraid to trust them with my health. These same doctors used to treat my 19 year old son for contipation, anxiety and as they put it "girlfriend trouble" which was actually insomnia but he ended up being diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and passed away fourteen months later.stay away from this medicine and always ask questions and keep a log of your doctors and treatments.

Had a heart attack? 10 years ago, now 57.
Cardioligist wanted bad C under 100. 2 years ago
80 mg Zocor was really killing me. Lost taste
sensation, fingers got arthritic?, muscle cramps.
But, bad C went to 90. I felt like ***.
1 year ago I stopped Zocor, finger movement
came back, cramping stopped, still can't drink
cola as taste is still affected.
Dr started Zetia (non Satin) which works in the
gastric track. Side affect minimal and is minor gas
at nite and stool slightly loose. bad C went to 120
but Dr now wants bad C to 70 or less, as new studies
show.
Put me on Lipitor 10 mg a month or so ago along with
the Zetia. All fine till last week... Now upset stomach
all day, with Nausea and sometimes dry heaves. Head
light headed, dizzy like in a fog, and can't walk without
holding on to wall. Outside I must look like a drunk.
Cramping on finges is returning. Had 2 strips bacon one
morning and remembered it through belches all day
with aggrivated symptoms.
I got the message.... And STOPPED the LIPITOR 4 days
ago and no more nausea, I can walk without loosing balance
and finger movement slowly returning. I can live with the
vivid dreams......

I was prescribed this drug for an upper respiratory infection. I definitely couldn't stay at work after taking it & had to go home! Felt light-headed, dizzy, but it did make the cough go away and has helped me sleep. I've been taking it for a week now and somedays I experience an annoying headache that lingers around all day. It does the job, but I would definitely recommend staying home if you're gonna take this drug.

Guaifenex was very bad for me. Unfortunately I did not see this web site prior to taking "the pill". I took one pill and the side effects were so bad I went back to the prescribing doctor 2 hours later. Doctor said in a year he had never heard of anybody having any problems and that it was "just in my head". I couldn't stay in work - had to leave for the day.
My side effects: head/body tingles, extreme depression, anxiousness, extreme lethargic, constant headache, body speeding, light headed, dizzy, stoned feeling (bad trip - not good trip), inability to concentrate.
I feel much worse than this post sounds. Doc said the effects (which he also said were "in my head") would wear off after 12 hours.... I hope so. I feel like complete crap.
I will never take this drug again.

I've been taking 1800 mg 3 times a day for a few weeks. This stuff makes me higher than a kite. Light headed, dizzy, brain fog, short term memory loss. I've gained 8 pounds. I take it for neurogenic pain and so far it hasn't done much for me except make me feel loopy. My heart races if I stand up fast, and I can feel it pounding in my head and hands. I'm gonna hang in there and see if it is worth all of this is the end. After reading everything posted here I am rather freaked out now about this drug.
I took my two caps 2 hours early trying to get back in a schedule I can hang with and I thought I was gonna die for about an hour. I felt like my head was going to explode and I was gonna have a heart attack or a stroke...I'll never do that again.

I got this prescription when I got a bladder infection. The first day I took it, I had pains in my stomach. They felt worse then any cramps I have ever gotten but felt closer to the pains when I had contractions. I was light headed, dizzy & felt nausea to my stomach all day long. The symptoms continued on through my 6 day of taking the medicine.
