My little brother suffered a psychotic, hyper-manic episode after just four days of taking Levaquin. If anyone else has experienced this and can tell me about it I would really appreciate it. He is now in jail as a result.

Thank you so much for all the information! My son was prescribed Singulair pills this fall. He has been taking them for seasonal allergies and we had no problems. These were the sample chewable kind. Then came the pills... Unfortunately I did not see the news or read the article about the side affects of Singulair. Within 4 days my happy well adjusted 10 year old had serious sleeping problems along with stomach aches. He will wake up screaming and crying and cannot tell me what is wrong. He said he had a nightmare but doesn't remember what it was about.
My husband was away on a business trip when I started him on the medicine. He came back to a very unhappy and sleepy child. I asked my son what he was scared of and he asked me to tell daddy that he does not feel safe while he is out of town. He can't sleep unless he is by one of us. He's not safe. His bedroom is 15' from our bedroom! He loves his doctor and begged that I call Dr. Becky so he can talk to her.
I could not take this anymore and started thinking about what was wrong. I went through all his activities, friends he's played with, school problems, anything! Then it hit me, effects of Singulair!
Wow, what an eye opener. Fortunately my husband did not have him take it this morning. He will not be going back to this medication. Ever!
Thank you for the information once again. I hope everyone's child gets better. Everyone wants a happy well child. No child should have to go through this. They have enough pressure as it is without the meds making things worse.

my 4 year old daughter was taking this medication for 3-4 months and her attitude has turned big time! I have read almost all of the other adds and I can actually say my child is the same way I thought it was the terrible 4 but its not! She tells me and her dad that she hates us it hurts or she wants different parents she is very mean to her little brother and has gained weight to there are problem more I can relate to! As of today she no longer will be taking this medication! I just sit and wonder how and why it is like this!!!

My little brother is on Singulair he's 4 and half. And he does have some behavior changes but he's also in my opinion losing a little hair. He seems to have small patches with no hair; it's not very visible unless you get up real close, but is this common?

My son began taking Claritin and Singulair for allergy and asthma symptoms in May, 2005. For about the last few months he has been experiencing extreme bouts of crying and seems depressed. He has begun having bad dreams and started telling some out there stories. His dreams have consisted of snakes chasing me and his little brother, things scratching and knocking on his chair in his toy room and others. His teachers in school have asked me about some of his stories because they are concerned. He told the teachers a bat pooped on his head and that his Papa got struck by lightening. He has never told such outlandish stories before and insists that they are true. He is very emotional and I am worried about his dreams too. I am wondering if this is linked to the Claritin or Singulair. Any comments?

I had a Mirena IUD placed at my follow up appointment after my second child in November of 2004. I feel that I have had excellent results from this form of birth control. The strings disappeared after I had it in for about a year. They had to do a few sono's to see if it was still in place. It was but I had developed an ovarian cyst that didn't go away. I ended up getting it surgically removed and found out that this is a side effect of Mirena. the cyst caused me no pain and the only reason I knew it was there is because of the sono's. I will not have surgery again unless it is highly recommended by my doctor. I just had a new one placed this month. It was more painful to place than I remembered it being. The cramping lasted for almost 24 hours. I have had no periods since before my youngest son was born....he's 5 now. I have had it for so long I don't know if the problems that I have are related to Mirena. I am obese. I have been obese my entire adult life so that is nothing new. I do have a hard time losing weight but I don't believe it has anything to do with Mirena. My hair is thicker since starting Mirena. I do have some skin problems but most of them have been with me for more than 10 years (seborrheic dermatitis and rosacea). I have a history of depression...so nothing new there. I have varicose veins...a result of my obesity, heredity, and working on my feet all the time w/o support hose. I am 34 years old, married, and do not plan to have any more children. I plan to continue using Mirena until menopause. I am EXTREMELY SATISFIED with Mirena and I am sorry for those of you that are having problems with it. I hope you find a method of birth control that works for you. Sexual freedom is a nice thing for a woman to have.
