I have been on Yasmin for 2-3 years now for endometriosis. It was great as it helped with the severe cramping, and cleared up my skin. I never paid much to the series of changes to my body months to follow, till it got worse. Within the past 2-3 years, I've had countless exams literally from head to toe -- bloodwork, MRI, X-Rays, CT-Scans, Ultra-Sounds, and other lab work. All of which, despite slight irregulars through bloodwork on liver count, thyroid, lymph, and raised cholesterol, were normal. It got to a point where my family doctor thinks I need to see a psychologist. I considered my self a pretty healthy and happy individual. I know I was not imagining these aches and pains.
About 1 year into taking the pill, I noticed numbing in my legs, severe headaches, dizziness, and trouble falling asleep. I even discussed it to my gyno, who quickly brushed off any relation between these symptoms and the pill. I figured, it might have be induced from stress at work and thought no further of it. I also discussed it with my family, who also dismissed the idea.
I started losing a lot of hair and started getting more emotional, with frequent/extreme mood swings. I also started crying a lot, which was never the case before. I was never so emotional. The pill does not even help with clearing my acne anymore. I also had bloating, frequent urinating, tender/painful breasts, chronic cough, frequent throat infections, nausea, fatigue, back pain, heart palpitations, chest pain and pressure, and chronic abdominal pain. The chest pain and abdominal pain landed me in the ER today. And of course, all test results were "normal".
It's worth getting off this thing, at least to see if Yasmin is the cause. If this little pill is the case of all of our pain and suffering, instead of helping like it should -- the product should really be pulled of the market, along with a class action against the manufacturer.
I feel very lucky to have found this site, that there are others who are going through the same thing and can understand I am not insane for thinking the pill is the cause. I'll have to come back to post the progress.

I was just lying in bed trying to think why my 16 year old daughter coulod be having liver inflammation when I remembered ayear ago my father mailed me info about advair she was just put on and it's side affects. I thought I would go on the computer to try and see if the advair could cause this side affect and came about this site first. We have an appt with an infectous desease MD tomorrow along with a scheduled pulmonary appt. She has put on 10 pounds in the last year and can't figure out why. Also, she has had terrible leg cramps while sleeping. I think I'm taking her off advair after speaking to the infectous disease dr that can't figure out whats wrong and the pulmonary dr and see what happens. Anybody else with their liver count?

MY husband was on the drug for 2.5 years. Within the first month he started haviny muscle pain. He was told by his md. that should go awayin time. then his bones started to hurt as well. All this was ocurring even though he was having his blood drawn every 60 days. the md insisted he stay on the drug. Finally after a little over 2 years his liver count went up. And after having a sister with liver faliure from being on the drug for 4 years we said NO MORE. And stopped the drug. the doctor wasn't happy but whose liver was it. My husband is healthy with the exception he has high trig. and cholsterol . Within a month of being off the drug he noticed his bones didn't hurt anymore. The muscle pain has never gone away though. There is one other thing that to us was a major sideaffect of the drug. When he stopped taking it we noticed a large surge in his sex drive, that after 2.5 years had gone down considerably.

My husband was on Zocor last year for a couple of months. It did a great job reducing cholesterol but his liver count?? crept quickly up to 320 so he had to go off it immediately. He hasn't been on it since but today he just got back a test that indicated it's continued to rise to 4800! This is the highest the doctor has ever seen. I doubt that it's an ongoing side effect from Zocor which he stopped taking 6 months ago but he didn't have this problem before taking it. Anyone else see a count that high?

On Vytorin for the first time 10/80 for 8 weeks -cholesterol numbers are fine now. My liver count was slightly high and my doctor said that was fine. I took myself off. This is the 3rd day without and I am less tired each day and I am feeling like myself again.
