It is now day 8....unfortunately the blood pressure has rocketed up to 150/100 had to go back on the full meds ...........being tired isn't fun but 150/100 isn't safe to walk around with....very hard to sleep with a pressure pounding that high...hopefully the exercise 30 min a day will combat the tired and depression effects...then in a few months ill try again or a different med if necessary.....not looking forward to itching again either !

At the age of 36 this genetic blood pressure problem has become very frustrating ..all tests came back normal ekg, heart scans, kidney scans mri s blood tests so whats left they say Sleep Apnea could be the issue need a sleep test though to see ........have a good one all

I picked a quit date of Tuesday, because I wanted to smoke the weekend out and I hate Monday mornings going to work so I thought Tuesday would be better, I was right, I quit last Tuesday the day I was supposed to, it was hard but not as hard as I thought, it's been 8 days and I can honestly say I can go without them, sometimes I smell cigarettes and want one but then other times it smells really bad to me. Drinking does not help, you want to smoke more, I also used the patch at the same time I quit, it helped but I only had to use those for about 4 days and didn't need those any more. I get a tiny bit nauseaus (sp) right after I take the pill but it goes away within a 1/2 hour.
I am having trouble sleeping, I wake up during the night and can't go back to sleep, no weird dreams though, I was almost looking forward to those because my friend had them with Chantix. Any how it worked for me, 20 + years of smoking done and in the past.

My daughter was on Yasmin for approx 3 years for painful periods. Over the past year she has become severely depressed, angry and just a horrible person to live with. I noticed that on the final week of the pills, the placebo week, she was her old self and put two and two together and made her stop taking Yasmin. She is now back to her happy self, no longer depressed and looking forward to her life. She had informed her doctor of the depression but she never attributed it to the Yasmin and instead referred her to a psychologist, which she never followed through with. Doctors don't know or care to really look into side effects properly. Do not take this drug...it almost killed my daughter!!

Thank God for googling. I'm not alone. It's great if Lisinopril is working for you, but as I can read by the posts I'm not nuts. The cough, oh the cough. Worse is when it comes and I'm at church. My wife and I are cantors and nothings worse when I would get that dry "got a feather in my throat" cough. Like everyone else my BP was riding above normal 150/90-95 and the Lisinopril brought it down to 115/70, but I quit a week ago and feel like normalcy is coming back into my life. BTW I was on 10mg dose for a little over a year and was just dumb to think that a BP med could cause all the side effects that I was experiencing: cough, mucus, numb extremities (mostly sleeping at night but enough to wake me up hence poor sleep), fatigue. Has anyone felt moody? I think this drug has made me very moody but that can probably be attributed to the lack of sleep. I hope the dark circles around my eyes disipate now that I'm sleeping better. Good luck to all!

I know that when i got off of effexor, it was a nightmare!!! I had night sweats, chills, nausea, and my mucles would tense up around my torso and neck. It made me feel like i couldn't breathe. My doctor said it was just withdrawls, but it scared the crap out of me!!! He put me on topamax a few days ago, i'm yet to have any problems. I'm really looking forward to the weightloss!!! Does anyone know if topamax is as bad to get off of as effexor??? please get back with me soon!

I started on lisinopril june 05 for high blood pressure. also, the water pill. At first diziness and light headedness were experienced. This was not more than a week. Until recently all was well. I caught bronchitis,as diagnosed by my doc, at the beginninin g of the year and have had systems off and on since. I"ve dicontinued the drug recently, but still haven't been able to shed the flu like symptom. The worst part has been a feeling in my throat that is like the inside swelling. Sometimes it was hard to swallow and even restricted normal breathing. I found I was not able to talk continuously for short periods of time just before I quit taking it. I'm looking forward to an end of these symptoms and normality again. It's been 2 days and counting since i discontinued using lisinopril. Any good news from anyone

I have been taking biaxin for 8 days for a URI and a sinus infection. The metalic taste in my mouth is awful. I taste it all day and night. I can't sleep good. It takes hours and hours to fall asleep. I have been very depressed. I didn't even want to be around my husband. I felt strange feelings about him. Like he just gets on my nerves, etc.... I am very tired all the time. I am not a napper, but have been finding myself just wanting to lay in bed and try and fall asleep during the day. This morning I woke up with a terrible stomach ache and has been hurting all day. I have 5 pills left and have decided to stop taking them. I thought I would go online and find out if this is what is making my stomach hurt. I am shocked about what I read. At the time time I am relieved to know that the depression and imsomnia are due to this drug. I will call my doctor tomorrow and let him know that I will not take this again.

happy holidays ladies, and I wish you all the best for 2007.

I have felt better lately but still at certain times of the day I feel sad. I never did before yasmin.

There is good news for everyone though, your body renews itself in 11 months. So I'm a bit over three months without this pill, so I'm looking forward to getting better as time passes by.

My experience has been severe panic attacks that come and go, I have them for a few days and then a few days I'm okay then I don't have them for weeks, then something happens in my life to stress me out then they come back. I hate Yasmin so much and I can't believe the effect its had on me, and I wish I'd never taken it.

I'm working really hard to work out my anxiety, and now of course I'm worried, anxious, scared of having another attack because my family worries so much.

It's just I wish I knew how to stop being so sad overall, nothing in specific, just sad. It comes and goes but it is there.

Sorry to blabber on, but writing this out really helps me.

Good luck to everyone.

Claudia.

I am also glad I found this site! I really have felt that I was going crazy, but when I read through many of the posts, I have realized that Yasmin is slowly destroying my body, mind and life. Yes, maybe all of my problems aren't 100% from this pill, but when I think back, I used to be so much happier. Now, I'm depressed, antisocial and anxious much of the time, plus have a host of physical problems (see posts below) which have appeared in the last couple years. I have had problems with BCPs in the past with depression, but the only physical effect I'd ever had with those was weight gain. Normally, I'm a very healthy individual. It has all come on slowly and has gotten worse with time. For a long time, I had no side-effects, so didn't attribute any of it to this pill. It was only after finding this site, after a particularly bad day of dealing with unexplained nausea, that I see what it has been doing to me... I hope we all heal eventually! I do have lots of hope and am looking forward to the day when this is all behind me. Maybe this is premature, but I've only been off it two days (quit mid-pack) and already feel much more awake, and my pants, which have been tight for months, are fitting loosely! This pill is scary...

I was absolutely floored when I started researching the side effects of Yasmin. I switched 6 months ago and was told it was no different than my former bcp. After a couple of weeks, I started having symptoms that I would never think to relate to a birth control pill, including muscle soreness, joint pain, lightheadedness, and tingling in my hands, feet and especially the face. I also had depression, but attributed that to the chronic pain. I am over my head in medical bills from trying to find answers, and lo and behold, it looks like this stupid pill could be the cause all along! I feel quite foolish for not finding the correlation before now, but looking forward to finding out if getting off yasmin will allow me to eventually get back to normal.

Thank you so much for all of your advice flowerbabies. I can't tell you how good it feels- that I am not alone.
Today is day number four without Yasmin and its a struggle. I know in my heart when it is out of my system I will feel like myself again. I miss being happpy and looking forward to things a lot. It is just so wierd because I used to be such a happy person- and now I have these times where I just feel awful. There are times when I feel like my old self again- which is what keeps me going. It's been tough because this past month is when the panic attacks and depression have started, and my boyfriends been gone for three out of the four weeks on business. I need him sooooooooooooo much right now. I just can't wait for him to back! Anyways girls, just know that it will get better-- I just know it will!

Well, I'm from Germany and I don't know if I can get such a test here to. But I'll search google tomorrow (it's already very late here and I'm a bit tired to go and search for it now)!! But it really sounds very interesting!!

Did you have problems with your muscles, too?? That was one of my biggest problems (muscle fasciculations and weakness) and it is still not gone completely. Somedays some of my muscles like arms or legs feel very weak...

I blamed these symptoms mostly on the loss of vitamines and minerals that Yasmin definitely has caused in my body (I had been taking that stuff for over 5 years...... with sometimes feeling better and sometimes feeling really miserable without knowing why.....!!).

And it seems to be very difficult to get back in balance for my whole system as I'm still suffering from some of the symptoms after being off Yasmin for so long (February 2005)!!

I'll post again if I find someting similar to that saliva test you told about, here in Germany!!

Thanks again for your always very helpful and delighting posts, Bitter RN!!

I wish you all the best and am looking forward to hearing (reading) from you again!!

Silke??

Are you out there? I was wondering did you ever have a saliva hormone test to profile your hormones? Not a blood test, a saliva test. Looking forward to your reply. Has anyone else out there done one??

Silke???
Are you there? I have a question for you. Did you ever have a sputum test done for a hormone profile? If so, which ones? I had one done and my testosterone is low and my other androgen levels were borderline low. Im beginning to think the spiro in the yasmin depresses the androgens, at least in my case. If you log onto www.salivatest.com click on 24 hour hormone hotline in the second box down on the left side of the screen and then click on 630 androgens and testosterone listen to what the woman says testosterone is responsible for maintaining in your body. It explains a lot of what I am feeling because my testosterone is low. BY THE WAY I had hormone labs drawn 2 times at different dr offices, one did not even test testosterone, the other did but it came back "normal" I am looking into talking to a doctor who deals with natural hormone replacement. I am just wondering if you ever had a saliva hormone test done? Looking forward to your response. Bitter RN.

I had my first shot a week ago. Shot site (butt) was extremely painful from my thigh all the way up my back for 2 days. No symptoms the first few days, now I have sweats, EXTREME mood swings, exhausted, nauseous, and I could eat everything in SIGHT! I'm also insulin-dependent diabetic and my blood sugar has been bouncing all over the place like never before, overall extremely elevated.

I would NEVER recommend this shot! I feel like the life's being drained from me ... Thank God they cancelled the 2nd one ... I'm looking forward to surgery now!

Hubby has been taking lisinopril for about 1 yr regularly. Last nigh his tongue swelled up and he couldn't talk. went to ER and after pumping prednisone and benadryl and zantac into me for 5 hours it then just started to go down. They said it was a side effect of lisinopril since it involved only the tongue, thank god, and not to take it until PCP has been notified. He now is sleeping off all the meds and not looking forward to trying a new one. anyone else have or heard of this problem??

I am on my fourth day weaning off Wellbutrin after two weeks of every other day. (I have been on 150 mg.) I went on it to combat sexual/lack of energy side effects of Paxil. Went off Paxil (which was HELL) in Sept. Liked the energizing effects of Wellbutrin, but in the past few months I have been very, very irritable, argumentative, prone to road-rage, etc. I am getting married in four months and want to make it to my wedding day! I also have been getting heart palpitations, itchiness and insomnia. But the killer for me is the mind racing and irritability. I am incredibly fatigued without my "speed," but I'm looking forward to being a sweet, if a bit sleepy, person again.

I cant believe I have found this site. My Girlfriend was diagnosed with Adult onset asthma a year ago after having a severe asthma attack. The hospital prescribed Singulair and symbicot inhaler. About two weeks into taking the Singulair I noticed her personality started to change. She became moody and agressive and started to talk of "mad" dreams. I then noticed her memory started to fail her and she could not find her words. She developed a rash and hives from time to time, and on occasions would talk sentences that did not make any sence. I would be very concerned that children would be given this drug as I am shocked to read others have had several experiences similar to ours. I am glad she has now stopped taking the drug and am looking forward to getting back my girlfriend.

@cvl:

You sound just like me about a year ago..... The same things happened to me, but I'd been taking this Yasmin-sh... for very long 5 years and after all I can say, that I have lost 3 years of my life with not knowing, that it was all just this damn pill and I'm still not through (I'm nearly 1 YEAR off this pill now........). So (I know it may sound a bit hard, but...) be thankful that you've recognized it that early, what this pill is doing to you...

Perhaps it would be very helpful to hear, what the doctors in the clinic told you. Looking forward to hear from you again and all the best to you!! It was the right decision to get off Yasmin immediately and you're on the right way!!

@time2chng:

Well, that sounds very hard either... Very bad times you had to go through. And nevertheless I believe, that Yasmin is making everything someone has to go through even worse with causing a total imbalance of hormones and other stuff in your body.

You're asking about another bcp... Well, after my experience with Yasmin I swear I will NEVER take ANY other bcp again!!! I'd rather have 10 children instead of going through such a hell again. And there are so many other ways, like condoms, etc.... Please think twice about what you're doing to your body again with any synthetic hormones....

@lisa:

You sound exactly like me after 3 months off Yasmin..... I wasn't able to work since december 2004 because of my heavy symptoms that either sound just like yours. And at 3 months off Yasmin I thought that this hell would never end and I wouldn't be working again ever in my life!! I swear!! And look at me now: I'm working again since september 2005!! And I'm so happy about that. Because just like you I didn't expect to be able to do that ever again.

At three months I had been asking in this forum the same question as you did: Will this ever get better?? Is it normal to feel that bad after 3 MONTHS off that pill??? And now I can answer it by myself: YES!! It is!!! 3 months off is (I fear) not really very long!! So be sure that it will get better. It seems that there is a "magical" mark at 4 months. I remember that about in may everything changed and I felt slowly getting better!! That was either the first time I went out of my house again (wasn't able to do that between january and avril 2005 at all!!!)

But everyone out there remember: It is a VERY slow process. And there are so many doctors out there telling the women, that it has to be 100% better after 3 months off a pill... Please FORGET that sh......!!! They don't know or should I say "they don't WANT to know" what these synthetic hormones are doing to the women's bodies!!!

I could say that today I'm feeling about 75 to 80% better than a year ago, but I'm still not where I want to be some day again!!

And another thing: For those of you that have either to take care of a child or even some children within that Yasmin mess: I feel so sorry for!! I know what you are going through these times because in my worst days I would'nt have known at all how to handle this either because I didn't get on with MYSELF at all with all the tiredness, dizzyness, weird feelings, anxiety, headaches, exhausted feelings, muscle weakness and so on!! My husband even had to to the housework completely by hisself and even my parents came around nearly every day to take care about me, cooking our meals, and so on, because I even couldn't walk the few stairs up to our living room!! I feel totally with you and wish you all the strenght a person can get to handle this!!

So everyone out there: Hang in, stay strong, you ALL WILL GET BETTER!!

Best wishes and god's bless!!

Silke

Sorry, again to the poster with the HEAT SENSATIONS:

You wrote much more, that I'm experiencing, too!!!

>>loose yellow stools (gross I know). ---> YES, I had that a few months ago UNDER Yasmin and now it's starting again after nearly 9 months off Yasmin!! Very strange colour of stool, very light, nearly beige or yellow!!!! I heard from some women, that this might show problems with your gall bladder or liver!!

>>How about shortness of breath? ---> YES, and sometimes in a very heavy way!!!

>>Finger swelling?---> YES, at some days it isn't possible to put my marriage ring down from my finger or pull my hand to a fist b/c of the swelling!!!

>>How long does this continue? It has been almost 9 months!
---> That's the question I'm asking myself every day and in my case it's been almost 9 months after Yasmin, too!!!

Some women wrote, that it took them about a year and longer to get completely healthy again after Yasmin!! So I'm still looking forward to that day and try not to go mad about all the symptoms I'm still having. I just try to look at the circumstance, that it all has gotten very much better than it was a few months ago and I can do many things again, that I wasn't able to do a few months ago, too!!

Keep us updated of how you're doing!! Best wishes to you!!

Hey voicesi, sherry here.......
Just to update you on my progress. been taking the water pill for a week now but has not been helping which seems to suggest that there's more to this than general water retention. Weight gain/bloating is still there. Feel horribe about it. This and sometimes experiencing heart racing/anxiety is the withdrawel symptoms i've been suffering.
Wondering how you are doing and how agnus cactus is helping you.
Remember i was only 4 months on this yasmin and i'm already off it for almost the same amt of time. I can't even believe how much havoc this has wreaked on my lifestyle.
I have an appt with this holistic doc. on friday. I sincerely hope he can help me.
looking forward to hear from you and I will be updating my progress.
Love you all.
God bless-Sherry
