How could I forget the day and night sweats and terrible loose bowel movements and related vicious wind !!!!!!!!!!!!! The only parts of my body that have not increased in size are my ears and nose, I feel like someone has just pumped me up. In fact I feel really awful almost to screaming point.
I am really sorry if anyone else is suffering the same effects of this EVIL drug,
I am trying to just stay away from my husband so that he doesn't leave me.

My brother has been on Asacol for about 2 years, since initially being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He started to bleed again about 1.5 months ago and his physician recommended he go on a Lialda study. He has not stopped bleeding since switching to Lialda from Asacol and soon developed pneumonia. I am not saying that the pneumonia is a side effect of the Lialda, but it is secondary to the reduced immunity from the slow and continuous bleeding. He also has what is called "dumping syndrome" where as soon as you eat a couple mouthfuls, you cannot eat anymore and have to wait a while. He also is extremely tired, mostly due to the anemia, and has very loose bowel movements, up to 3-5 times just in the morning hours. He has skin rashes that won't resolve even with prescription ointment. His ulcerative colitis seems to be exacerbated as well. One thing we are countering a lot of his symptoms with is holistic treatments, namely good diet and acupuncture.

Like many posts describing side effects, I was not sure that all the new little health-related issues I've been noticing were connected to taking Zocor. I'm thinking that perhaps my issues are related to the drug, especially since the only other drug I take is Levothyroxine (for hypo-active thyroid). I have been on the generic for two months. (I'm a 39 year old female.)
In the first month, my total cholesterol score was 278. After taking it for one month with no change in diet or physical activity, it reduced to 207. So, the drug does work! Now I need to determine if the cost is worth it.
In the past week, I've noticed several of the side effects listed in some of the posts: sharp pain in knee (feels like there is a paring knife in it!); lower back pain; joints creaking and popping; skin on tips, sides, and underneath of fingers kind of blistering-hardening and peeling off; brain fog in the morning; difficulty maintaining a deep sleep; crazy dreams; general increase in skin blemishes; heartburn; loose bowel movements; and increased sinus congestion.

I am a 34-year old women who started 50 mg of Toprol-XL 4 days ago for a rash of panic attacks I experienced earlier this week, after having high blood pressure and occasional panic attacks in the last 3 months. Since then, I've had migranes for the past 2 days, bad allergies, stomach pain, loose bowel movements, slight difficulty breathing, frequent urination, and tiredness/lethargy during the day with trouble sleeping at night. I was already feeling strange my 2nd day on it and called my internal medicine doctor, who, of course, told me to stick with it. At this point, I'm ready for safer, natural alternatives. I'm will call the doctor tomorrow to tell him that my mind is made up and ask for instructions on how to wean off of it safely.

Was on Prednisone 2 years ago for respiratory problems 30mg. Gained 25 pounds, fat face, felt tired, etc.
However 2 years later, after weaning off Prednisone my muscles ache, joints are most always stiff, esp. hands plus my feet feel numb and my short term memory has not returned to normal----does any one else out there have similar problems. What can be done?

I was prescribed Lisinopril three days ago. The day after my first dose, I was having losse bowel movements, but thought nothing of it because some medications just take time for your body to adjust to.
The day after my second dose, I was still having the loose bowel movements and began to feel bloated and a little crampy while at work. My stomach began to swell a little. As the day went on, the bloating and pain became noticeably worse to where other people began to comment on how swollen my stomach was getting. I was also feeling an occasional on and off tightening low in my throat.
I called my doctor and left a phone consult (where they have 72 hours to get back to you). By the time I left work, my stomach size had gotten even larger to where I appeared to be about 4-5 months pregnant!
I went home and laid down for an hour and woke up in a lot of pain and called the nurse call center where they advised me to go to the emergency room to be checked out.
I suspected the Lisinopril since that was the only new thing I had done in the past couple of days, but the ER said they never heard of such a reaction and that Lisinopril was a very mild medication.
They took X-rays of my stomach and told me my intestines appeared to be full and that I was constipated. I asked how that is possible when you have had loose stools for two days, but they said I was and gave me a massive laxitive and sent me home. What a mistake! The laxitive did what a laxitive should do, but made nothing better, it only increased the cramping and pain.
The next day I went into work and had to leave early. The doctor called me back for my consult and said it sounded like it was possibly a rare side effect (intestinal swelling) of Lisinopril. A little searching on the net found that it can happen with any ACE inhibitor though. I was told to immediately discontinue use, go on a liquid diet for a couple of days to rest my stomach and DO NOT take any more of the laxitives the ER gave me because that would only aggravate the problem.
I should be feeling better in a couple of days and the doctor said I could attempt to try the Lisinopril again to be sure if it was that causing the reaction, but he didn't blame me when I said I'd rather not.
After the holiday I need to get in contact with my doctor to see what else they can prescribe for my blood pressure. Does anyone have any suggestions I can research and bring with me to that appointment of other medications that aren't ACE inhibitors or water pills (allergic to Sulfa and cannot take) that have worked well on their BP without so many scary side effects?

I have been on Zoloft for 6 weeks and love it! I feel so much more in control of my reactions and emotions! I feel like I am in control now when I deal with my son. However, a few side effects that I have noticed, loose bowel movements, a few headaches and times of extreme drowsiness. But, the most bothersome side effect to me is HEARTBURN! AGH! I have never experienced heartburn like this other than when I was pregnant. Is that normal? Will it go away?

I was put on Singulair two weeks ago and since then I have have experienced everything from hyperactivity and insomnia to flu symptoms and loose bowel movements. I contacted my doctor after 3 days because I was having tingling in my hands and feet, flu symptoms, cramping etc but no fever and otherwise fine...He said the benefits outway the side effects so take half. I continued to take half. The cramping reduced and so did the other physical type side effects, but I started feeling like Superwoman. Instead of sleep I sterilized my house, wrote emails, tended to laundry, etc...and then continued my normal day with a smile and pep that I would not expect. I really had no desire to eat. The thought just made me cringe. After two days of no sleep and hyperactive state I decided I am done. I stopped taking it...and I took my son, 6, off it as well. He had been taking it for 4 years and was presenting with signs of hyperactivity. It has been one week...he turned yellow, became more hyperactive, talked about how the man in his room is gone now. He had struggled with sleep since he started Singulair but there were no side effects at the time that listed bad dreams, hallucinations, hyperactivity etc...It has been one week and we watched our son turn yellow as he withdrew ...he could have been spider man break dancing on the ceiling for the first few days. His teachers and even the bus driver had sent home warnings about his behavior "can't sit still" ...the last 3 days of school he has been on "green" which means great behavior. I do not think anyone should give this drug to kids...and it should not be given in sample forms either to any doctor trusting patient...without a full discussion of these side effects. I feel like I just went thru hell and put my son thru hell.
