I had my Mirena put in 3 months after having my fifth child in December o8...i tried mirena because in the past birth controls have failed for me such as the pill even depo so me and my doctor decided that mirena would be a good birth control for me i am 29 and have been getting my period since i was 15 and never have my periods ever lasted more then 5 days but since i have gotten the mirena put in i have bleed in excess of 15 days or more currently i am on day 15 and still going the bleeding is so heavy at times i will go through at least 5 tampons a day and most of the time i have to wear a pad also cause i bleed through especially when i just wake up it seems as if the blood just collected all night so when i get out of bed it just comes gushing out sometimes starts running down my legs...im always tired and lately i been crying a lot just out of the blue for no reason i get really irritated very easy and it seems to get worse my sex drive is none i want to have it removed but ive heard stories of the symptoms getting worse after having it removed and i also don't want to get pregnant again but i refuse to get a tubal because the women in my family who have had them always ended up later in life having to have a hysterectomy i am also paranoid even with the mirena that i will get pregnant and end up with a tubal pregnancy. Wellbutrin makes my hair fall out and really really angry. I've been screaming and just very irritated. I worry about everything. It helps my pms and ocd thoughts but I don't know if that's worth all this irritability. I notice that I just want to give up all the time because I am so overwhelmed with everything. Lexapro is really good for me but I am overweight and need to lose weight and lexy wouldn't let me do that. My plan is to try and stick it out for a couple of months with wellbutrin and get this weight off and then go back to lex. Lex does not cause me to gain weight, just won't let me lose any weight. I hate my attitude and anxiety and I hate being overweight, I feel like I'm making the right choice at the moment and am eagerly anticipating the day I can drop wellbutrin. I do have to say that without wellbutrin I get crazy mad (ptsd) no sleep crying constantly just really freaked out so it does help a little. And the hairloss isn't too bad, no sexual side effects or headaches, no nausea bad dreams etc...just very angry and sweaty...Thanx for reading :) Lori

I am 38 and took YAZ for two years. At first it seemed like a wonder drug. I didn't have a period the entire time I took them and my MD said that was normal for some women. After about a year, I started having night sweats, leg cramps, and increased moodiness...like things that should just aggravate me made me down right angry. I also started having considerable swelling in my hands and feet that was present most of the time. After a night of research on the internet trying to figure out what was wrong with me (my thyroid?) I landed on a few sights about YAZ and felt like my prayers were answered. Every single thing that was happening to me: sweats, swelling, cramps, low sex drive, fatigue, headaches, GI upset...could be attributed to YAZ. I stopped taking it immediately. It's only been about a month and I'm still feeling a little tired and moody, but my legs don't cramp, my rings fit my fingers, no more night sweats, and I have the hots for my hubby again. Life if Good! :)

Has anyone experienced shortness of breath and upper chest pain after removal of the Mirena. It has been 12 days since I has it removed and this started happening on day 5. Its it the mirena crash or what? What did you do to correct this problem if you experienced it? Please let me know. All my other symptoms have subsided but this has occurred. My anxiety was so bad to the point I felt my throat was clising but ever since I got it removed its been a lot better except this chest pain and shortness if breath has occurred.

I am 31 and just gave birth to my first baby in April, in June i had mirena inserted. Since then I have felt awful and it keeps getting worse. At first I was just very dizzy, after a month of the dizziness i went to my ob and she said it is not a side effect from the mirena, so i started taking meclizine not thinking anything of it. In October I started getting terrible cramping. I went to the ob and i had a large cyst growing on my ovary, she told me that some people claim that mirena causes cysts but that she didn't think it was a cause. She told me that after pregnancy my hormones are trying to regulate and thats why the cyst grew. Well luckily it went away on its own but I have been developing these cysts every month and they are getting very large and then bursting. Trusting my ob, I assumed it was just my body and age. I also have been having trouble losing my baby weight. I was 125 before I got pregnant and now 10 months later I am 175 and I have been working out every day! I have been very moody, tired, I feel like im in a fog and I don't want my husband to touch me. I thought maybe it was just because I was not loosing the weight and I am exhausted from trying to take care of my baby and stay in shape when I feel like such crap but now I think its the mirena. This is not like me at all and I was feeling good after the pregnancy up until about 2 moths after having the mirena inserted. The most recent symptoms started in late November. My glands started to swell in my head and neck and my muscles started aching. I thought maybe I had the flu and it cleared up in about a week. About 2 weeks ago I started getting really dizzy, my vision was blurry, my eye was very dry and it hurt, i could feel a lot of pressure on my head and i was having chills at night. I went to my primary dr. and was diagnosed with an inner ear infection, she gave me antibiotics. It cleared up and I was feeling better after about 10 days, well its 3 days later and its back, all the same symptoms and swollen glands. I have never had these symptoms in my life and I feel like I have something seriously wrong with me. The ob doesn't believe me and wont get me in until march 17th. I want everyone to know these symptoms because the ob will most likely not tell you, and even though it may work great fro some women it has some serious side effects for others. These side effects should be available to everyone because its not fair that you are trying to take care of a new baby and have to feel like crap, and on top of that you feel like your going crazy because the doctors don't believe you! Good luck to everyone who has mirena.

I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me since I already suffer with anxiety. On New Year's Day I went to Emerg believing again that I was having a heart attack, as my left hand was so light I couldn't squeeze it closed. After test they determined my heart was fine, but the only way I can find relief is by hanging my left hand (and right hand) over the bed for the blood to flow back. My MD thought I might have carpel tunnel syndrome and I went to see a nerve specialist. They determined I was fine and anxious - of course! To date I'm still waking up in the middle of the night with tingling hands and pains in the bottoms of my feet that shoots upwards. I went on this site, by fluke, I never thought the IUD could do this. I "googled" Mirena tingling hands and feet and 2 pages of symptoms have come up. I realize that I am anxious, and that anxiety manifests itself in many ways, but these symptoms are real. I called my gyno and asked to have it removed. I believe that he won't believe me, as when I told him about the emerg visit, he said "well that has nothing to do with me". Meaning, the Mirena that was inserted. I am going to ask him though to take it out ASAP and also if other's have complained of the same symptoms as I am hoping that this truly is the reason for my discomfort. I'm only 40, eat well, work out 4 times a week and in good shape. Hope this is helpful in determining if this is also a situation for others.

I got the Mirena put in in October 2007. I had just lost all my post baby weight and was feeling GREAT. then I immediately gained 20 lbs. I tried EVERYTHING to lose it. I went to extremes...power walking 5 miles a day, going to fitness classes, lifting weights, bicycling up hills, playing soccer with my kids. AND eating very healthy, small portions, minimal fats, no starches, or sugars, no eating out ever. NOT ONE POUND moved. What is so weird is the way the weight came on. It is all concentrated in this perfect little round bump on my belly making me look about 4 months preg. I can tell there is a lot of water there and I retain water terribly. I bloat all over so badly by the end of the day, I have to unzip my pants (even though I barely eat). I went to my doc thinking something is wrong and she assured me it wasn't my IUD but my age!!! After reading these and other posts, I was amazed to see SO many other symptoms I have been having since Oct. of 2007 that I Never attributed to the Mirena!!! My breasts hurt, my energy levels are up and down. I have had a terrible time emotionally, handfuls of hair falling out, NO SEX DRIVE, (don't have acne), irritable, depressed, impatient, headaches, complete space cadet, inability to make decisions, etc. All this since the Mirena was put in. I TOO want my body back and my SELF back!! I have an appointment in TWO Weeks from today to get it out and I cant wait!!! This can NOT be healthy!! I will report back to you and let you know what happens.

I was on topamax for about 2 years. I took it for frequent migraines caused by my sinus's. I had all the normal side affects but got used to it after awhile. The only one i didn't get used to was the hair loss. During this time I started allergy injections and now i'm up to my maintenance level. So i decided to ween myself slowly off the topamax. I have been off for about 2 months now and I have been fine on the headache side, but i have started to get other symptoms (i think withdrawal symptoms). They have progressively gotten higher in number as the days go by. First my hair loss has not stopped. I gained about 10-15lbs, I am edgy and climbing the walls all day. I have a really hard time relaxing. I recently developed horrible insomnia, and about a week ago i started having digestive problems including water retention, bloating, gas, irregular bowl movements, and acid reflux. And I've recently had bouts of tightness in my chest and throat which make it difficult to breath (lasts about an hour). I didn't have any of these symptoms while i was on the topamax (except the hair loss), nor did I have them before it.
I am seeing an endocrinologist in a few weeks to make sure nothing on that front is causing any of this, but i really feel it's from taking and going off the topamax. If you can find other ways to deal with your migraines, DO!

I'm a 42 year old woman, been on Coumadin on and off for almost 8 yrs due to 2 DVT's after childbirth in February, 2000. The scar tissue has completely blocked the main vain in my left leg and am on Coumadin to prevent new clots from forming. Symptoms from the beginning have been: memory problems, concentration problems, fatigue, low libido, every muscle in my body hurts to the touch, my skin looks like I have smoker's skin (I don't smoke), anxiety, rash around my ankles, I have almost no patience on most days and continual hair loss. They changed my dosage 5 months ago to 10mg one day & 7.5mg the next 2 days. Since, then symptoms have gotten almost unbearable at times. My current Dr. claims the Coumadin isn't causing any of it and won't listen. 5 yrs. ago, during my second pregnancy, I was on heparin shots twice a day instead of theoumadin and I felt incredible. Why is it that when there are so many people that have problems with this medicine, nobody will listen and come up with a solution C?

Since July 12, 2009 (Saturday) my life has been altered by a cure for a UTI that caused me to be taken by ambulance to the E.R. with a 105.6 fever. The horrible feeling of waking up shaking from the fever and not being able to stop it was scary. That was quickly followed by an ambulance ride to the local E.R. It was explained to me that the cause of my fever was a UTI that became a kidney infection. The E.R. doctor prescribed Levaquin 500 mgs for 10 days and Lori-tab for the ache very typical of a kidney infection. I am a 42yo woman who owns a motorcycle, swims, dances with a group and loves to wear beautiful heels. My life has changed since that night in the E.R. July 14 (Tuesday) , I was in my doctor's office complaining about bad headaches and feeling achy. I asked if this should be a concern since headaches were part of the warning label. The response was to remain on the antibiotic since the benefit far outweighed the side effects. The rest of the week was full of aches, pains, swelling, and a cloudy mental state. By Friday, the 17th of July I was laying in bed after noticing I no longer had ankles and I hurt all over. Thinking maybe this would pass I rested for an hour and my partner came to check on me. My jaw was tight and felt like it was locking down, every part of my body, every joint was hurting including my head. I called my doctor's office and asked if this was an allergic reaction and should I go to the hospital. The on-call said she was at the E.R. and maybe I should come in to be seen although it would be a long wait time because they were busy. I was seen, they talked about finishing with Cipro and then decided they would give me Bactrim. I asked how long I could expect to feel the effect of the Levaquin, the answer was 3 to 4 days. Since then, I have been in and out of the E.R. with acute and chronic pain. Walking has become almost impossible on some days. All of a sudden I have a back and hip problem. I am getting lumbar epidurals now and have sold the motorcycle. Oh, Dr. Higgins said, "Levaquin is a great drug". This was a E.R. doctor that was angry that I asked if this seemed to be an on-going issue from taking Levaquin. I am desperate to be pain free for even one 24 hour period. A storm of depression and clouds have set in...the thunder is my pain....
