Good grief I just left the Doctor to get my annual pap.. I was curious about
the Mirena.. She said it was great da da da da.. I get the baby in bed and
get on here first thing oh my god is this really all true?
Now, I have a question isn't a lot of these side affects similar to the birth control pill? And with me being a smoker other than surgery what either options do other women have.. I do have really bad periods,I have to change every hour for seven days. And I did miss carry twice before my two children for lack of progesterone. So do you think this might be Okay for me?
Since my lat baby 14 months ago I have had symptoms of acne, weight gain, hair loss so maybe this will reverse it for me? what do you think?
Help from a woman who would like to have sex without wondering if I'm going to get pregnant I am 32 I think I'm way to old to have another baby..

Hi all...I am not currently on Yasmin, but I was on it over a year. Never experienced a SINGLE side effect. In fact, I'm pretty sure that my mood, acne, etc actually IMPROVED with my use of Yasmin. I plan on going back on Yasmin.

For all of the people here who are within the first three months of use of Yasmin or any birth control, my doctor told me that there is a three month adjustment period. Try to hang in there; maybe it will get better.

I'm not a drug rep or anything of the sort...just a satisfied customer. I was once on the patch, but while I used the patch I experienced very serious mood swings. I stuck with it for over two months, and I simply couldn't wait out the three month adjustment period.

If Yasmin isn't for you, try to switch. The patch didn't work for me, but Yasmin did. If Yasmin doesn't work for you, it is not a reason to swear off all birth control pills. The difference between every pill is that there are different dosages. Each pill has a different dosage, so another pill might work a lot better.

After reading all your comments here on this website, all I can say is "Thank God, I'm not the only one!" I thought I was going crazy or something. I was on Yasmin for a couple years & loved it! Then I lost my insurance & my doctor gave me some free samples of Femcon Fe. The first month I got acne, severe headaches, moodswings, was terribly nauseous & had trouble keeping food down. Now I'm on the final, 3rd month & I can't eat enough! I'm always hungry (especially for chocolate), I've gained 5lbs, still have acne & headaches, I've experienced random spotting during the month, and now this month my period's late. Ugh! I asked my doctor to switch me to another birth control- she's switching me to Tri-Sprintec. It's offered at the Walmart Pharmacy for $9 a month, which is a lot better than the $45 I had to pay for Yasmin a month. Let's hope this Tri-Sprintec works better than Femcon Fe !!

I am hoping that this will help at least one person, to get off of lisinopril
There is a big difference between "side effects" and actual symtoms that are happening to most of us that take lisinopril.
Side effects usually occur shortly after taking a certain medication.
i took lisinopril for 2 years and gradually all the symptoms escallated and continued to get worse over time. i tought i was dying, i did so many test to find out what was wrong with me, cost a fortune, eventually i realised that all of these things were being caused by lisinopril.
I had shortness of breath, muscle weakness, joint pain, after every meal i was so bloated and a very heavy feeling at night , i could hardly turn in my bed because of being so weak and felling heavy, and the worse was this lump in my throat that got worse every day until i could not swallow or even breath i decided to do MRI ,found nothing , i ran out of lisinopril medication and this immediately got better, i have stopped taking for 1 month and i feel a lot better but still trying to recover from these "side Effects"

Well, this seems to be a side effect I have not seen before or read about. I'm 67 years old, very blonde, tiny and petite---a runner and in excellent health. After pleading with my doctor for years he finally scheduled a bone heel test last year that indicated no bone loss had occurred. Three months ago my doctor finally prescribed a bone density MRI performed and whoopie-do, I have major bone loss! Two months ago I was put on Fosamax 40 to be taken once a week, a 5000 unit Vitamin D capsule and 500 mg's of Vitamin C to be taken 3 times a day. I have trouble swallowing along with dizzy spells , my stomach pain is severe and feels as though it's on fire. Also, my eyes seem to be much more sensitive and feel dry. I called my PCP last week and he said "not to worry, it takes time to adjust". Today I had my gyno appointment and the doctor indicated I have fecal bleeding. Since I have a colonscopy every 5 years (most recent was last year) I am positive it is not a bowel problem. Has anyone heard of bleeding from the stomach while taking this medicine? My gynecologist seems concerned, my PCP does not. I am wondering if a well-balanced diet with lots of calcium products would not be just as good---probably a lot better than taking this medicine and making Merck and Company richer than they already are. All I know is I felt a lot better BEFORE taking Fosamax 40.

I have been taking Yasmin for over a year and it has really helped me. It has reduced my mood swings, shortened my periods and I generally feel a lot better. However, recently my doctor gave me a sample pack of Yaz until I could get my Yasmin filled by mail. Yikes! I have had cramping, I'm tired and I had at least two episodes of severe night sweats. I also noticed a light sprinkling of acne on my chin and jawline. I don't get acne! I have very normal skin. I'm really glad to be going back to Yasmin and I hope to continue taking it for years to come.

I have just called my dr. for an appt. I was not researching Lisinopril I was looking for info to email someone - happened to spot the first post...I nearly fell over! I now know I am not losing my mind, because that's how I've been feeling - the cough, the weary feeling, palps, my anxiety increase, etc. etc. Low readings that I'm wondering if I'm still alive, and this head detached from my body,, feeling, sort of walking like a well in control drunk, if that makes sense to anyone, a feeling like "iI'm gonna have a stroke" feeling in my head...it feels "tights". I started this med. last year, and feel this has been a gradual on-coming train! I have anxiety, and try to keep it under control myself, since I took prosac for about a week, talk about looney - look up another charming side affect - akethesia - nasty. For one poster who said we're all overweight nuts, I am 103lbs, I do a mile every evening, and eat very healthy, thank you.

The day after I put in my nuvaring, I got a sore throat which felt like strep, then a fever of 102.6, chills and flu-like pains. I could barely get out of bed to take care of my two month old. The next day I was severely moody, excessively hungry, the sore throat went away, but I got a runny nose, chest congestion, and head congestion as well. I couldn't be up and moving for more than 15 minutes before I fell back into bed again. The next day I felt like I had a head/chest cold and same with yesterday. My fever went down to about 100.5, but my nose would not stop running, my ears were hurting, my head was pounding, and I had stuff in my lungs that I couldn't cough up. I looked up side effects and saw that 5-14% of women get an upper respiratory tract infection, sore throat, fever and chills. I took the ring out and by the time I woke up, my head was not congested anymore and whatever is in my chest I'm having an easier time coughing up. My fever has finally gone down and I feel a lot better then I have for a majority of the week.

Previously on Desogen for 6 months. Good news and bad news. For 2 weeks out of a month I would be up and down with mood swings. Very terrible in which I would become irritable over the slightest things and have huge crying spells. No sex drive until after 4 months. Things got A LOT better after the 4 months, mood swings were gone and sex drive went up a lot!

But changed pharmacy, and they gave me Apri to try (generic form) Been taking it for a week and in the last 3 days it has been hell. I have not been like this for 3 months and the mood swings and crying spells are back in full force! I am going to the pharmacy tomorrow and demanding my desogen back! I went through a long time of bad symptoms to get my body used to it, I am not going off desogen again!

Hi Flowerbabies,

Thank you for your advice, I will try the Mucron to see how I feel. Also I have read your post of yesterday and I am experiencing the same thing as you. I have been off Yasmin now for the last 6 months and although I feel a lot better, I still have my heart beating irregularly, exactly like you describe it:' my heart would slow right down, miss a couple of beats then start banging and jumping around then it would race'. This however tends to happen in the 10 days before my periods. I am 38 years old and maybe this is also due to a hormonal change... May I ask how old you are?

I've been taking 50mg of Levothyroxine for about 3/4 months. I don't feel an awful lot better, apart from the fact that I'm not quite as tired.
The main symptons I have experienced are... funny feelings around the neck area ( hard to explain, but it makes my hair irriate me) and, an incredible pressure around my forehead. which is not a pain, but just like someone has stuck a load of cellotape on my forehead.. very uncomfortable indeed.

Has anyone else had this weird symptons?

Flowerbabies,
You mentioned in your last posting about how to deal with anxiety attacks, specifically replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. When you said this about negative thoughts, I knew it was time to ask this. I am so ashamed to ask this question, because I have not told anyone this in detail, but has anyone else had very grim or violent thoughts? I mean thoughts that you would NEVER think normally? It is getting a lot better for me - I do not have them as much anymore but sometimes a very violent or graphic image will pop into my head for no reason, and I will get scared and think "Why is my brain thinking this awful thing?" I usually always get a panic attack after these thoughts, because I am afraid I am going crazy. I am a very sensitive person and do not expose myself to violent images, so these thoughts that I feel like are happening to me - instead of me controlling what I am thinking - scare me half to death. It has taken me 2 months to ask this question on here because I am so ashamed. I do want to add though that in general I feel much much better, and these thoughts do not appear as often as they used to. I am assuming the reason for this is lack of serotonin production in the brain or at least my hormones/brain/chemicals trying to get back on track, etc., which I am trying to combat with valerian, vitamin b supplements, etc. Anyway, am I the only one with thoughts such as this? Please please please write back if you have experienced this hell.

I was on Yasmin for 3 years. I started having SEVERE panic attacks during those 3 years, and saw several psychologists and a psychiatrist who put me on Klonopin. They all said that I had anxiety disorder. I stopped taking the Yasmin after finding this website, but sadly my life has never been the same. I feel better than I did before, but it really messed my thought patterns up in that I still get nervous now in situations/places where I got anxious while on Yasmin.

I wanted to tell you all about something that has helped save me. A few months ago I found a new doctor who finally thought to check my progesterone level (no one did this back then). He truly believed that it was going to come back low. Low progesterone levels can cause depression, anxiety, lack of sex drive, etc. Well, my tests came back and I was severely below the normal zone - almost a 0!! He said that he'd heard of Yasmin causing anxiety in a lot of his patients, and ESPECIALLY ones with imbalanced hormone levels. I've been taking natural progestone (not the bad synthetic stuff) and have been doing a lot better, feel calmer, etc.

I just felt that I had to share this info with all of you, as this website is what saved me also. I never would have guessed that it was not all just "in my head" as I was told by everyone.

Good luck to all of you! God bless.

i've only been taking yasmin for maybe a week and a half, and i've noticed that my mood has been wayyyy down low. i suffer from depression, and i've been on antidepressants for a couple of years, but i've been a lot better for a while now. but over the last week, i had one *fairly* negative event last week with a guy i'd been seeing and suddenly it's completely deflated my whole life... i get home from work and basically curl up in a fetal position on the couch with virtually no desire to budge for the rest of the evening. my thoughts and outlook have been really black and hopeless and i start crying at the least negative thought because every little not-so-great thing blossoms into my life being completely pointless. plus i'm pretty lethargic and discombobulated. two questions: a) could one week on this pill really cause all this mayhem, and b) can i just go off of the pill? -- as in, can i just stop taking them and it won't mess my cycle all up? i haven't been on the pill for about 8 years, so i can't remember how much it affected me back then (it was ortho tri cyclen) but anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

i took my first pill today and find myself inordinately fatigued, so tired that it just doesn't feel normal. as a result, i may not take it again.
i think i might rather take my chances with osteoporosis as i feel a lot better than this normally.
thanks, carol

I've been on Advair for a year but only needing it twice, once last May and again this May during alergy season. It literally made me bed ridden for a few days with severe muscle and joint pain. I would have never connected it with Advair if I hadn't seen this web site. I've been off it now for a few weeks and feeling a lot better.

I started taking Yasmin and after only 4 weeks I started to notice EXTREME anxiety, depression, non stop crying...I was throwing up all the time and I also have Extreme insomnia! I can't believe there are SO many people having these horrible problems yet the pill is still allowed on the market. I stopped taking it almost a week ago and I'm feeling a lot better, but not back to my normal self. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for it to get out of your system!? Thanks, and good luck to everyone who is going through the same thing

Desperate For Answers -
I too was on the pill for over 2 years and I am on my 2nd month post-yasmin. I went to my hair salon last week and they said it looked like I had just had a baby - I have all of these short hairs starting to grow back. Another great Yasmin side effect!
The worst problem I have experienced with Yasmin is insomnia - I still can't sleep with out Ambien and I too am wondering how long it will take to get my body back to normal. My panic attacks and anxiety seem to be getting a lot better, but not my sleep. Anybody else?

Hi Hill,

I just read your post and I think we're in the same boat. I've been off Yasmin for 5 weeks (I was only on Yasmin for 6 weeks) and I just finished my first normal period. I was feeling a lot better during my period, but today I am dizzy and very foggy. I don't have the same swelling you have, but everything else sounds the same. I'm just thinking that this regression has something to do with our bodies and cycles getting readjusted. I'm hoping and praying that it gets better. Anyway, just thought I would let you know that I too am feeling worse after having my first normal period. This dizziness is no fun. Let's keep each other posted.

I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT I AM EXPERIENCING ANXIETY AND MY DOCTOR HAD ME TRY A TRIAL BASIS OF LEXAPRO. I SEEM TO DO WELL ON IT ALMOST AS IF I WASN'T TAKING IT. WELL I HAD TO STOP THAT BECAUSE I RAN OUT WELL HE PRESCRIBED ME 11 MONTHS OF IT AND I COULDN'T AFFORD IT SO HE HAD HIS ASSISTANT CALL IN PAROXETINE (PAXILL) AND I TOOK IT FOR 3 DAYS AND I STARTED GETTING DIZZY AND FELT LIKE A ZOMBIE DIDN'T INTERRUPT MY SLEEPING HABITS BUT DID NOT LIKE THE WAY I FELT ON IT. WE I ALSO HAVE AN EAR PROBLEM AND MY DOC THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE VERTIGO IN RESULT OF THE DIZZINESS. TOLD ME TO GET OFF PAROXETINE FOR NOW TO SEE IF SYMPTOMS GO AWAY THEN CALL HIM BACK AND QUITE POSSIBLY START BACK ON PAROXETINE BUT CUTTING THE DOSAGE IN HALF. HE PRESCRIBED ME 40MG THAT'S A LOT IN MY BOOK. MY MOM TAKES CELEXA 20MG AND FROM WHAT MY DOCTOR TOLD ME WAS THAT CELEXAS LIKE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TOTUM POLE FOR ANTI-DEPRESSANTS. CELEXA/LEXAPRO/PAXIL . SO I DON'T KNOW. I DIDN'T TAKE MY LAST DOSAGE WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN LAST NIGHT AND I FEEL A HELL OF A LOT BETTER TODAY THAN I HAVE BEEN FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS. I WISH MYSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE LUCK WITH THE ISSUES WE ARE ALL ENDURING. GOD BLESS.

Hi Two Girls Mom,
Thanks for your response. My cold is actually a lot better and the constant numbing/pain has pretty much stopped. I still have it on and off, but not straight through for weeks like I used to. I took the one dose of Benadryl and didn't take any more. I found that if I breathed into a paper bag, it caused no anxiety whatsoever. (Once I got the numbing I felt so paranoid I would get the anxiety I used the bag). I didn't get it but still I guess at this point I want to be prepared just in case...
I'm still having the weird pulsing in my ear on and off, not quite as constant as I did on the Yasmin, I'm just assuming that it is still Yasmin related.
To be honest with you although I have a cold, this has been the best I have felt in a long time. I have so much energy, and can actually sleep about 8 hrs. a night, granite I'm still up at 6 am, but I've always been like that.
As for the anxiety, I really haven't experienced a full attack in about 2 weeks. I haven't felt anxious, (not that I did on the pill it just seemed to kinda creep up on me for no reason) Keeping my fingers crossed. Like I said I still have a bit of the numbing here and there, but it is nothing like the constant numbing I used to experience. I'm actually anticipating feeling worse this next week, b/c it should be the start of my period. And like you said and others I have read stating it's worse around menstration and ovulation, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I'm glad you are starting to feeling better. It's a shame that you have to take another drug to cure the symptoms of an old drug, hopefully you will be able to stop that soon as well. I still think's it's absolutely crazy that a stupid birth control pill can cause so many problems. I really don't think I want to take another one. I'm 27 but my b.f. and I don't want kids any time in the near future, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I guess condoms for now. I really don't want to mess with my hormones any more.
I did go to the Dr. on Mon. and they took blood pressure, they said it was fine, so I guess that's OK.
Thanks for your help. Like I said before, I really appreciate this site I think it's great that women can talk to other women experiencing the same thing. I really hope they get that crap off the market...
