I started taking Lamictal for bi-polar disorder. I did the starter pack about 6 months ago. Then went up to 200mg. I felt like crap. My head was foggy, couldn't remember things, easy stuff like how to spell words that I know I can spell. Upset stomach, blurry vision terrible headaches abd migraines.
I stopped taking it and went back to my shrink and he said it's like have high blood pressure I have to keep taking it.
So I started the starter pack again and I'm up to 100 mg. I ache all over. My bones hurt so bad and after reading all of the info on here I'm going to talk to my doctor about other trestments.
My primary dr. has sent me for blood work and results were normal so she wants addition blood work done, but I think it has a lot to do with the lamictal. I'm glad I found this site, I don't feel like I'm alone.
It's hard feeling this way and friends and family think your faking or crazy, and I'm not. My mood has stabilized on this med but all the side affects suck.
Oh yeah and the weight gain! And no matter what I do I can't lose any weight. The vivid dreams are wild too. One night I woke up sweating with my heart pounding so hard from a nightmare I was having.
Thanks for all the info. I wish you all well and good luck finding the right meds.

I just started taking the NR 3 days ago. Today is day three and I have a fever and my stomach is bloated and I can't seem to get enough sleep and I just don't feel good. I have increased sex drive and I'm still spotting a little bit after my period. Why does taking birth control always make me feel bad? With the pill I had vision problems, upset stomach, etc. I used the shot and it made me have pains in the spot where the injection was and I didn't have a period for over a couple of years, and then when I finally got my period after that, it was all messed up and I have extreme fatigue and I might as well not exist while I have a period. I'm done with birth control. I'll just use condoms until they can make safer products.

Addendum to success story:
The longer I do not have my period, the better for the endo, as it does not grow without a period. My doctor and I have decided to think about inserting an IUD w/hormones in the 12th month. I need to research that first.
Forgot to add a couple of things to the side effects--I have had a substantial weight gain and short-term memory loss. The depression comes and goes (I suspect that some of my personal circumstances have a lot to do with that rather than the shot)

I am on my second pack of yasmin. So far i am not really
satisfied with it because it has been nothing but a
rollercoaster, and uncertainties. I dont even feel like the pill
is working. Maybe thats just my paranoia. My side effects
have been pretty bad. First of all i smoke and i frequently get
major heart pains. (im working on quiting smoking) I have
had a very unusual and uncontrolable smelly vaginal
discharge. Even after months of no sexual intercourse. The
week that i was taking the reminder pills (during menstration)
I literally went psycho. I ended up getting fired from my job
for cursing at a kid, i threatend to move, and all of this for no
reason at all. I did use the ortho evra patch prior to the
yasmin pill and i was way more satisfied with the patch. Oh and to the woman who commented on the questioning her sexuality. I have been a homophobe for my whole life, recently i have become attracted to girls. I think it has a lot
to do with the hormones just making the libido out of control.
some women say that their sex drive has fallen, mine has
skyrocketed, just in the opposite way lol.

I took the nuvaring last year for about three months and then broke up with my boyfriend. We got back together recently and I decided to try it again. My first period since I started three weeks ago has changed dramatically. Although I no longer have the horrible cramps I used to have, they have been replaced by a dramatic decrease in appetite- I have to force myself to eat once a day during this period. In addition, my mood has changed in a severe way. I have become highly sensitive and easily angered at the smallest of things. In retrospect, last year during the months I was on the nuvaring I experienced 3 fainting spells- which is highly unusual- and as abovementioned broke up with my boyfriend. I didn't make the connection untill now but I think the ring had a lot to do with all that. I plan to stop using this month.

i feel good one week back on synthysoid. iwent off of it for 4 months, biggest mistake of my life. my periods had completely stopped, gained wheight, had no reflexes, heart had slowed down and i wasnt having any balmovements. my doctor put me back on synthyroid starting on 97mg for 2 weeks then for a month i will be on 112mg then i will be back on my original dose of 137mg. only been back on it for a week . have not had a period yet, but i started using the bath room again. a good tip that has helped me is a change of how you eat and drinking lots of water, and also taking a daily vitamin. i believe a poor appetite and not drinking water and not taking a daily vitamin has a whole lot to do whith why we are diognosed with this disease.try to keep as healthy as possible.the syntoms you guys talk about might just be your dosage is either to high or to low. or you are just not taking it right.

I hate to blame this on the NR but I am starting to think my irritability and unhappiness has something to do with the birth control, since I have not felt like this for so many consecutive days-EVER. Also, at 1st I thought I was maybe eating worse and not realizing it or being lazy and not exercising as much, but I am sure the nuva ring has a lot to do with the 6 lbs. I have gained these past 3 months. Although the nuva ring is SO easy compared to the pill, I think I am going to switch back to oral contraceptives so I can have my personality back!
