Been on Yasmin for about 3 years suffered from Loss of Sex Drive, grumpiness, being nasty to my kids and husband, weight gain - I look like I have a beer belly, I run 2-3 times a week and watch what I eat, I walk and cycle still the weight gain. The last month I have had sore breasts - cant bear hardly to put on my bra, spotting, sharp pain in the right hand ovary (in that area), crying, depressed. My doc put me on antidepressants so i have been taking them over a year now. I am not going to take Yasmin anymore, I will keep you all informed how I get on. Cant believe all the same symptoms as mine.....thanks for sharing girls.

Hello I'm a 41 year old female, and I took Lipitor 20 mgs for 6 months about two years ago. When I called my doctor's office to complain about side effects they told me it couldn't be the Lipitor because I had been taking it for a month already, and would have had problems before that. I eventually took myself off of the drug 5 months later. Here are some of the side effects I experienced:
Itchy fingertips, increased blood pressure, 30lb weight gain, shaky hand writing, acne, poor driving skills, poor memory, hair loss, "frozen joints", IBS, incontinence, low grade fever, itchy feet, numb toes, numb hands, foggy brain, joint pain, muscle pain, foot pain, plantar pain, dizzy, jaw pain, back and neck pain, week ankles and wrists, nasal allergies, skin rashes, migraines, heartburn, Increase in Astham, heart palpitations, knee pain, difficulty standing up from sitting position, difficulty climbing stairs, water retention alternating in feet, hands, arms and legs, almost constant taste of bile in my mouth.
These are only the ones I can remember. Two years down the road everything but the muscle and joint pain and weakness is gone. even those have improved a lot. I stopped taking the Lipitor and lost all 30lbs I had gained on it, without dieting, in a months time. I still have two toes on each foot that are partially numb. I have trouble climbing stairs, and getting up from a sitting position. I can do both, but I move slowly while doing them. The pain in my muscles and joints drives me crazy, but I'm grateful that the rest of the symptoms have cleared up. My doctor never believed me about my symptoms, and neither does my new doctor really. Went to the emergency room for asthma that was not responding to my inhaler, and they were about to let me go home when I mentioned to the doctor that I had been on Lipitor. Suddenly a huge battery of tests were ordered including a CT scan and a stress test. When I asked the doctor why he said that they just wanted to be sure that it wasn't something other than asthma. Why did they do that after hearing about the Lipitor? Do they know something? Are there doctors who believe that statins are killing and seriously injuring people? I'm so angry. Even as I sit here typing I know when I stand up I will have massive amounts of pain that I will have to "walk off". My quadriceps have not recovered, and remain ridiculously weak.
If I can stop one other person from going through this I will be happy. Thanks everyone for taking the time to list your symptoms. It makes me feel better to know that someone believes me, and knows what I am going through.

4 weeks post removal of Mirena. I have a question, and I am gonna try to not be so blunt, but I want to know if anyone else is having the same thing...intercourse and more so "inner" foreplay is a bit uncomfortable/painful, almost like the way it felt when the Mirena was in...anyone else having this problem? I have my yearly exam coming on June 5th and this is an issue I am defiantly gonna touch on. I'm just wondering if it damaged my cervix?!

Hello to everyone using Mirena,

I got Mirena inserted in November of 2007, I was so scared when I was going to get it done but after the doctor was finished I felt much happier that I didn't have to worry anymore. I was doing good with it in'till my follow up to check if it was still in the right spot, when the doctor checked me she realized that it wasn't there, she told me that maybe it's sitting at the top of my uterus and that she is going to check it on the ultrasound. We'll when she turned the machine on and put the probe to my stomach she looked at the screen and then looked at me and told me that she sees nothing and she is 99.9% sure that it fell out. I then asked her what are the causes for making Mirena fall out? She told me that having more then 1 kid ( I have 3) makes your cervix widen, she then told me that she wants me to get an x-ray done to see if it is in my stomach,we'll i haven't gotten the x-ray done yet but just today I started to bleed pretty heavy, I called my doctor to see what was going on , &she told me that I was having withdrawal from it because it fell out.
Neither one of us know for sure if it fell out or not, she is only saying that because she didn't see it on the ultrasound. We'll i am going Tuesday yo get the x-ray done, and i pray that it is not there because if it is i will have to have it removed in surgery called "Laparoscopy" it is where a small incision is made thru the belly button to allow a camera to go thru to try to find the Mirena". We'll i will come back to update this to let everyone know what's going on.. I hope that I helped someone with this information..

OK, 4 days off of Yasmin and the rash all over my body is gone. The shortness in breathe has also seemed to fade. I go to my gyno tomorrow to see what he can put me on now that the Yasmin was the devil. I dont know about you guys but i had lots of luck on Ortho-Tri Cylene Lo. I hope he puts me back on that. I will NEVER take Yasmin again. I stayed sick and bothered on Yasmin. It made my body go crazy. Thanks for all the help on this site it opened up my eyes alot and made me realize these things happening to me weren't a coinsidence.

to the last two postings about the side effects.
i just want you to both know that everything ur feeling i have felt too!!
i was on yasmin for a month and had to stop taking it because it was making me anxious, giving me palpitations and i had chest pains and an ache in my left arm.
i went to hospital twice cos the palpitations and pains got so bad.. i thought i was having a heart attack!
im only 23!.. i did lose my libido for a couple of months and yes my breasts went up a whole bra size and they were so sore!!
its definitely yasmin that is causing both of you these problems. my doctor also told me to get my thyroid checked which i did and also had numerous blood tests which all came back fine.
ive now been off this pill for 5 months and i am feeling much better. i am just getting back my energy and finally the heart palps and anxiety is easing up..... it gets harder around the time i ovulate and the week of my period but its easier than the first two months.
i can not stress to you more to get off this pill!! its a nightmare...
lots of luck to you both

to the last posting....

i just wanted you to know that i suffered and am still suffering from heart palpitations too! i have been off yasmin for 5 months and for the first 2 months it was terrible i really couldnt cope. im only 23 years old and i felt like my life was falling apart... this website is wat saved me from going insane.

now i have noticed a pattern 5 months later and i realised i only get the palpitatinos when im ovulating and the week of my period.
i also get the migraines too and such sharp pains in my head... very strange... my head itself feels very foggy you could say at times..

also i used to feel extremely tired all the time but then at night i could hardly sleep... i lost my apetite for a while and my sex drive aswell but this came back after a couple of months....
i really noticed a lot of improvement around 4 months coming off yasmin...

thanks for your posting i know a lot of girls and myself will really appreciate it...
lots of luck to you for a full recovery.

hey Gwen...

i just read your posting about yasmin... i was on it for 1 month only and to answer your question yes my breasts went up a whole bra size!!! they were huge!!! but they were very sore too.... and it only took a week for them to get bigger... i ended up having to get off yasmin and suffered bad side effects like heart palpitations and anxiety. when i got off yasmin within two weeks my breasts were bad to their original size so they didnt stay big...
please read the postings on this website and the side effects of this pill because it maybe give you big breasts which is great but at the end of the day there are much worse things than having little breasts.
please take my advice and read the postings..

lots of luck to you, if you need more advice dont hesitate to reply to me ok

Hey Chad,

OMG you have to tell her to stop taking this pill!!!! she is the love of your life you cant risk losing her cos trust me you might NEVER find that kind of love again in ur whole life.... some ppl never get to experience what ur feeling even once so i think if you are one of the lucky ones who found it then you have to hold onto her and fight for her. show her this website and make her see what the side effects of this stupid pill are!!! tell her to read my posting now and this message... TAKE HIM BACK!!!!-
please dont give up on her- hormones are so hard to deal with and they totally stuff us girls up....
you sound like a great guy and she is gonna regret pushing u away because she cant even realise it at the moment...
you have to make her see and understand what yasmin is doing to her...and to your relationship.
trust me dont let her get away....
lots of luck to you both
