am having severe abdominal, pelvic, lower back and hip pain. I went to see my doctor who thought I might have a herniated disk in my back. Having no insurance I had to pay cash for the doctor visit and X-Rays and was told I may be suffering from a herniated disk in my back. X-Rays showed no such thing. I was given a muscle relaxer, pain meds and an anti-inflammatory med. Through the next week the pain began to intensify to the point I had to leave work. I went straight to the ER where I was given steroids and a stronger pain medication. By the way, pain medication has no effect on me so I have been suffering for quite a long time. The ER doctor did recommend I see a gynecologist right away. He thought for sure something was terribly wrong. This was just last night and after reading all the comments above, I am pretty certain this is my problem. Having no insurance my clinic would not see me so I have to go to another doctor who said I must pay $200.00 up front just to get in the door. I have had my Mirena for 2 years and was doing just fine other than having problems with the headaches, zero libido and uuuggghhh, that weight gain thing and a few other problems, but now I am convinced that no woman should use the Mirena. I have already been through all of the with the Norplant. Another horrible contraceptive. If it is indeed the Mirena, I will have to have it removed and most likely will need a hysterectomy. Wish me luck finding a doctor to that with no insurance.

I am schedule for a lupron shot on thurs w/my surgeon. I have large fibroids which causes the usual problems, bleeding, etc. I curretnly have lower back and hip pain already due to the size of the fibroids. I am scheduled for a hysterectomy after putting it off for years. My surgeon suggested the shot stating that it would help with shrinking the fibroids and make my surgery easier lap vs. abdominal. Reading this site is truly scarring me I already live with some pain already and have a family history of depression. I have a career I love and make a 4 hour daily commute and it sounds like my life will truly be altered if I choose this. Help!!!

I was prescribed Pravachol after experiencing a reaction to Zocor. In hind sight, this was probably the worst thing my doctor could have done to me. Only weeks on the Pravachol I began to experience lower back and hip pain. I blamed it on my mattress! Then one morning I went to roll over in the bed and pain shot through me up to my head. My hips were frozen the pain was unbearable. I cried and my husband got some old crutches from the garage. I needed help getting to and from the bathroom. He left for work and left me with the heating pad and Ibuprofen. I realized that this was extremely similar to the knee and leg pain I'd experienced on Zocor only to a much more significant degree and much more painful. I immediately stopped the Pravachol and a week later began to see improvement. Within two to three weeks I recovered to a degree of functionality. My doctor actually pushed me to try the Pravocol again! I got a new doctor instead. Turns out my cholesterol isn't even that bad!! I'm furious for the long term damage done to me and furious at a system that would put people through this knowing what it does!

I have read all of the symptoms on this page and have many of them. I too was on all of the statins but had to stop due to terrible muscle aches, pain and fatigue. This is my second attempt at Welchol and the same as before lower back and hip pain, foot pain, lethargy and trouble sleeping. Dr said not absorbed by the body so no side effects, B.S. I also had a strange bout of anemia before, I'll bet it was the Wechol then too. I'll take my chances with the Cholesterol I can't live like this. There must be something else we can take?

I was a very healthy 59 yr old, who, as a result of a leg and ankle fracture and slight decrease in dine density, was placed on Fosamax Plus. I have been taking it for two and a half months and have certainly noticed many of the symptoms mentioned. I continue to experience extreme muscle stiffness- not unlike symptoms of the flu, dizziness, stomach nausea, bloating, loss of sleep (so much so that I was then prescribed sleeping pills!), bruising that won't fade, knee soreness, lower back and hip pain!
I tolerated all the symptoms because I thought many of them were associated with my injury. After the ABC 7.30 Report, I am very concerned and would like to know the long term implications. Thankfully I have only been taking Fosamax a short time but it is now in my system.
The pharmaceutical company has a lot to answer for.
