it's been about 2 months since my Mirena REMOVAL and I am just now starting to see a clearing up of my skin on my face and back. My skin was so bad. I had cystic acne on my back and arms and oily skin on my face and back. It's so nice to scratch my back without feeling thousands of bumps lining my neck and back.
*I feel better emotionally too. I am not getting irritated or angry as easily as i was when i had mirena in place.
*No more odor or discharge
*i'm still losing my hair but I think it's starting to slow down
*My knees don't hurt as bad as they used to.
In General I feel better and i'm getting better every week. I am sooo glad that i had it removed and that my life can continue now without such horrible side effects. It seems like it's taking a long time but that's ok as long as i'm making progress. I had it for 20 months so it will probably take a little longer to be cleaned out of my system .
Good Luck ladies.

I'm 41 and have been on BCPs since I was 17. Been on Yaz about 2 years, the best thing I can say about it is nothing. I'm dropping it immediately. My attitude is crappy, No memory, Joint pain, especially in fingers, zero sex drive. Now mostly I've just thought this was my age, but 3 months ago I had to have my gall bladder removed! I've never been unhealthy in my life, so what gives? The more I read on-line the more I see a connection to Yaz and these symptoms. There lots of lawsuits being gathered about yaz. Be careful ladies, the juries still out on this one, literally.

I'm 41, male, and have been taking Omeprazole for about a month now due to an H. Pylori infection that was also treated simultaneously with PrevPack and Sucralfate. A subsequent endoscopy found no ulcers, polyps or stomach problems; my entire GI tract down to my stomach is clear.

I was taking a single 20mg pill per day and had it upped by my doctor to twice a day, though it seems that twice a day is now worse for me. Foods that were fine with me on a single pill seem to give me problems with two pills.

Now that I am on Omeprazole alone (taking no other meds) I have had strange sensations, both mentally and physically. My legs and arms get tingly, I have sharp pains across my chest (as if I am doing a heavy bench press and my muscles are being pulled), my heart rate will speed up, especially if I am laying down, and occasionally I suffer bouts of all-over body aches which feel almost like growing pains.

Mentally I am feeling depressed, anxious and on one bad night I felt oblivious to the world, as if I could walk off a cliff and it would be no big deal; scared the crap out of me. Often I have trouble getting motivated to do anything and find that my only way to get around it is to try and absorb myself in a book. Any other chore or project I try, I start but just can't seem to finish; my mind wanders.

I thought this might be connected to angst about dealing with the pain and circumstance of the infection, but previous to my H. Pylori I had another physical trauma that caused me trouble and I had no mental side effects; I was dealing with it and understanding it as a result of getting older and my body doing what every body does as it ages.

Is it Omeprazole? I suppose I can't really say for sure but reading this and other forums I am under the impression that it is probably having side effects that are serious enough to cause concern. I could probably deal with most of the physical side effects but the mental ones are scary. I will stop using Omeprazole starting tomorrow and see how it goes, confining myself to foods which hopefully won't cause too much reaction and go from there.

I've been taking Loestrin 24 FE for 2 days now and I've been so nauseous that I feel like I'm going to throw up, but I don't. This happens especially after I eat. I'm 41 years old and I've been concerned about taking a birth control pill in the first place. I have endometriosis which causes severe cramps during my period to the point that I'm sick in bed for two days. My doctor told me that this pill should help with this, but after reading these posts I'm not so sure. Is it worth sticking it out or stopping now and trying something else?

I'm 41 years old and I've been taking Loestrin 24Fe for one week. Never having taken bc pills before, I didn't know what to expect... but I feel good so far. On days 2 and 3, I noticed that I became highly sensitive, emotionally, and I cried a couple of times over something that may not have made me cry normally, similar to the way PMS sometimes makes me feel. By the end of day 3 that cleared up, and I've been in a pretty good mood ever since. I haven't had any physical side effects at all.

I'm 41 and approximately 115 lbs. I've been taking Doxycycline Hyclate (100mg) for only 3 days now and so far I'm still feeling my normal self. I have 4 more days to take the medicine before completing my dosage and I hope to continue to feel the same way. I must say that when I take it, in the morning and early evening, I drink lots of water with it and I eat a complete meal, which is what I do with any prescribed medication that I may have to take unless otherwise specified. I don't know if this is why I'm not feeling any side effects, but so far it seems to be working for me.

Started Januvia about 7 months ago. Have noticed increasingly blurred vision (not sure if I am just developing long sightedness though - I'm 41), some disrupted sleep patterns, adult acne breakouts and they take forever to heal (which I never had a problem with before), slow healing of small cuts on fingers and with the slow healing, scars are obvious. After reading all the posts here, I am determined to check with the doctor to consider taking off Januvia altogether...not willing to risk more exposure. Exercise and diet will help enough with Glucobay as before.

I have been on this for about 5 months. Had breakthrough bleeding here and there and was told it would be okay. One month I had my period so heavy I was bleeding in clots. I was told put my feet up for the weekend. I take it every day at the same time and got my period last Sunday.....not supposed to happen until Wed. ....it is now a week plus one day and I STILL have it...I have the most horrific cramps....and I am middle aged..not some sixteen year old. I don't know what to do, but am thinking of calling again to get off it. I get the feeling the nurses at the dr. office think I'm crazy....and it will work itself out....well in the meantime I'm in agony!

I am 18 years old and have been on Loestrin 24 fe for over a year to regulate periods. I had not done much research before taking this and I wish I would've. At first everything was well besides the weight gain. My periods were short and I had no cramps. After a few months of being on this bc i was extremely moody and depressed. I was never like this before. I now find myself to be tired and exhausted even after a good nights rest. When I get to the brown pills in the end of the pack I get some type of period but not enough to call a flow or even to need a tampon. This is simply not the right bc for me. I'm glad i came across this site to see a lot of other people are experiencing the same side effects. I will be getting off of this nightmare in a pack just as soon as I get to an obgyn. Do the research before you start taking any type of bc.

First few months on this pill went fine. On the 4th month I started with the spotting. By the time the 5th or 6th month rolled around I would have my period it would stop for a few days and then start again at mid cycle. I was getting two periods per month. This month I started spotting on day 15 and now 9 days later I'm still bleeding. I need to be on some form of birth control pill to control extremely heavy periods. Ok so I don't have the extreme bleeding anymore but I have my period all the time. I could live with spotting but this is full on break through bleeding. My doctor wants to try something new but I feel like a guinea pig. I just wish there was some pill that came with a guarantee. :(

I started this drug on 2/15/08 and by today 2/25/08 I couldn't handle it. I have a resting heart rate of 135 bpm without any exertion. I've been to my doctor three times in the past week due to symptoms. Fatigued, unable to sleep at night, restlessness in my arms, fever and rapid heart rate. I was beginning to think I was going crazy. I'm 41 year old female who has been relatively healthy until I was put on this drug. The last 10 days have been awful. I'm glad I found this site.

My doctor switched me to another drug today, which she claims doesn't have any effects on the heart rate. I'll keep you posted.

I'm 41 and had a Mirena for about two and half years. First six to eight months or so were OK. But then I started getting lumps in my breasts (Dr said it was blocked ducts/cysts, which SHE said was due to the Mirena - damn painful I can tell you so loads of antibiotics for that) Then raised blood pressure - something I've never, ever suffered from - after they put me on a BP monitor they said: Oh, it's within normal ranges - BUT every time I had a check they'd say - oh your blood pressure is up. Then the last straw for me has been (no not the weight gain - though I have that too - oh and the headaches as well) the dizziness - god, god, just so damn awful, dizzy, dizziness, spinning the lot along with tiredness & just feel crap - Dr (again!) says - no, it's not your BP (& it can't possibly be the Mirena - can it?) it's an inner ear thing, he says - yeah right!!! It's the damn Mirena - the whole lot! So, today I had the monster taken out. Thank god.

I'm crying reading these posts. I thought there was something wrong with me. I'm 41 years old - and my family has a health history of "making" cholesterol. Both parents were on statins. My total cholesterol was 267 a few months ago - LDLs were 171 and my HDLs were 42. I started taking flaxseed meal every day - and within a few months, my cholesterol dropped to 193, my LDLs were 117 and my HDLs were the same.
My doctor's didn't think it was the flaxseed - they had prescribed Vytorin which I reluctantly took for about a week. They attributed my lowering numbers to the statin, not the flaxseed - so I followed their advice and started taking the Vytorin about 3 weeks ago......
Now I don't know if it's coincidence, but I have developed a severe left ear problem....and have taken 2 separate antibiotics, but to no avail. I have also developed a severe pain in my left shoulder, the back of my left arm and sometimes it shoots into my chest.
I suffer from anxiety attacks, so of course, to me, this is a heart attack, but since I've been tested so many times and I'm a healthy woman, I know that's not it. I thought I'd log onto google today and search out what could possibly be causing these troubles. I read these posts and I literally have been crying for about 15 minutes. My doctors have told me that Vytorin is almost a "magic" pill. They said if someone could tell you that you could take this pill and it would reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke by 50%, why wouldn't you take it? Given the history of your parents, it would be foolish to not.
I have also been given instructions to lose about 25 pounds (not bad), and I know that if I could just exercise, eat well and take my flaxseed as well as making sure I eat 2-3 meals of fish a week, then I have to be better, don 't you think?
Do you think statins are the only way to go? I'm so happy to know I'm not alone - I'm not going crazy - I'm not experiencing any heart attacks....my anxiety is ten-fold lately - I wake up after a full-night's sleep feeling exhausted. I have four wonderful children and a wonderful husband - I live for them - and I feel so sad and depressed lately.
Oh my gosh everyone - do you really think that the Vytorin would have such an incredible impact on all of our lives?????

I am now a little nervous after ready all these posts about the bad side effects of Mirena. I had mine inserted yesterday 10/12 but it wasn't for birth control. I have three moderate size fibroids. My doctor said that she has had great results with her other patients on Mirena and it reducing the size of fibroids. I am 34 with two kids and am not looking to have any more but I cannot stand the horrible periods and pain that come with them. The insertion process did hurt some. I did not take any pain killers prior to the appointment. I didn't know not to. I still feel a little bit bloated with mild cramping but nothing serious. I notice that this post revolves mostly as Mirena for birth control. Has any has or had a Mirena for fibroids?

I'm about to start this in 7 days. I am switching off of Desogen (taken for 10 years for endometriosis - though I was off for 2 years while conceiving and pregnant 3 years ago). I'm 41 and suspect peri-menopause (hard to tell when on BCPs). My CURRENT complaints are v. dryness, weight gain and low drive... I'm hoping the lower progesterone in Loestrin will help. Any one else had expereience going from Desogen to Loestrin?

I took Lisinopril 10 mg for about 10 days. My doc had told me that 5% of those tested developed an itchy cough, and to stop if this happened to me. I stopped as soon as the cough developed. That was more than a week ago. I haven't been able to get a night's sleep since then. The cough is dry and hacking and continuous. Coughing can also come at any time during the day. Sometimes a coughing attack hits when I already have a cough drop in my mouth.

I feel just the same as I've felt when experiencing a sinus infection, with nighttime drainage and sinus headache.
When I called the doctor's office, I was advised to take an over-the-counter cough med. It hasn't helped. I am exhausted.

This seems to be a case of the "cure" being worse than the initial problem.

I have a tendency for high blood pressure, and due to several major stress factors, I knew my pressure was high & I was having anxiety attacks & not sleeping & migraines. It was my pressure. It was like 137/100. My heart rate was fast. I'm 41. I started ToprolXL 25 mg & really felt better for a couple months. No more headaches. I did, however, always think I'm hypoglycemic or perhaps diabetic. I feel like I need to eat sugar with this med. My scary problem is that I decided to lose weight & started working out at a much higher intensity than my normal walking. I feel REALLY weird. It's like this med is fighting your heart rate when you work out & I feel like I need major sugar. I feel like my heart is swishy in its beats. I'm calling dr tomorrow to get in. The warnings do say that when you are diabetic or hypoglycemic, this med could mask it, but I feel like my blood sugar feels lower taking this med. I also feel like I still have racing heart, but I was under terrible stress & running around when these symptoms started like 2 or 3 days ago.

I started last month after my period and my last pill was this monday and I have been experiencing ALL of the PMS symptoms each day and it's getting worse but i haven't gotten my period! I'm supposed to start my pills again on Monday but what if I don't get a period? Is this abnormal? I'm 41 yrs old and PMS and abnormal cramping is the reason I am on Yasmin. I am feeling wigged out, tired, and can't sleep through the night. Can anybody help with some advice?

Started taking this a month ago for severe dog/cat/dust mite allergy. At first, no side effects and no improvement. 30 days later some improvement - but doesn't last very long into the day - now headaches, abdominal pain, can't sleep at night, lethargic during the day, feel the urge to urinate all day - no uti doctor said, water weight gain / yet less appetite, possible constipation, dizzy, spacey, forgetful, tingling in lips/hands and feel extremely aggressive / irritable at times during the day. SO - tonight, I'm stopping this medicine! The only thing it seemed to do was improve my allergies slightly (I'm severely allergic) - and that only lasted the morning...by evening, it was like I never took the pill (I took it 10pm every night). Oh yeah, nightmares...and I wouldn't mind ALL of the side effects / IF - it had worked great...but NO. I had high hopes for this medication which my allergist suggested/did not insist on...but am disappointed with the effects and the side effects. I read here that in 2 days off it I'll be like new...can't wait. NEVER had a migraine before I took this drug, was always a SOUND sleeper...not irritable - I'm 41 female and in otherwise excellent health. I did gain weight/but it is water weight (I can tell) and I assume it will go as soon as it came...within a week or so of taking the first NASTY pill. I welcome back my allergies with open arms...good bye Singulair.

Hi everyone -

I'm brand new to this site and I can't tell you how glad I am to have found it!

I'm 41 years old with no history of any serious health problems. In February of last year, I started feeling run-down, depressed, etc. (first time ever). By April, I went to my gynecologist and was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and put on Yasmin to help it resolve. After the cyst cleared up, I stayed on the Yasmin because I liked how it worked for birth control (never used BCP's before this). At the same time, I was diagnosed hypothyroid. A few months into treatment for both, I started having tachycardia/palpitations/pounding heart, severe depression, anxiety attacks. These were all written off by my docs as related to the hypothyroidism. My doctors and I kept thinking once we had that under control, the symptoms would resolve.

Well, the hypo has been under control for about three months, but the heart and anxiety symptoms continued to get worse.

I decided to dump the Yasmin about 7 weeks ago, because I couldn't figure out what else could be causing all the symptoms. My heart started feeling better in about 3-4 weeks, although the depression and anxiety lingers on (but are both improved).

I am not a very patient person and the idea of "waiting this out" is awful - but your postings have given me a lot of hope that all of this will eventually go away.

I would like to suggest that everyone spend a few minutes reporting their side effects to the FDA. If you go to www.FDA.GOV, there is a section where you can report adverse reactions yourself - without having to convince your doctor to do it for you. Under the section "Let Us Hear From You", there's an option to "Report a Problem with a Product". It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. If enough people file complaints, they'll have to do SOMETHING, won't they? ;-) And just the act of "ratting out the makers of Yasmin" is very satisfying....

Good luck to everyone!

Julie

I wanted to write back to Chris--Holy Cow you sound just like me!!!!! I have been off Yasmin for approx. 7 months now and I, too, am STILL having the heart palpitations, racing heart flopping like a fish in my chest feelings! I was in the ER for these symptoms last Friday--every test--blood work, EKG, echocardiogram, and a CT scan (to check for clot in the lungs) came back normal--and yet these feelings persist. Also, my blood pressure (although it has come down since I went off Yasmin) is still too high--I am praying that it will continue to slowly go back down to what it used to be prior to taking Yasmin.

I'm 41--two kids (ages 2 and 3), and NEVER had pressure higher than 120/70 (not even while pregnant). And yet, within about 8 weeks of taking Yasmin, my pressure had shot up to 160/110 (and had been higher than that from time to time!!!!) Now it is about 140/90--still not acceptable, but better than it was. Have you checked your blood pressure?

I am going to see my cardiologist (sheesh never thought I'd write that sentence at this age) on Friday--I will get the results of a 24-hour heart monitor harness that I wore after the visit to the ER.

I wanted to also mention that I developed a pretty serious case of acid reflux disease while taking Yasmin (again, NEVER had anything like that before)--treated it (saw an ear/nose/throat guy), and it healed up. I am wondering if some of this feeling that someone is digging a fist into the center of my chest could be reflux related. I've been taking some Pepcid Complete over the last couple days and it has seemed to lessen the intensity of the feeling or make it go away completely for a while. I had been burping like crazy--it made my hysband think maybe some of my symptoms were stomach related and he suggested I try the Pepcid.

I wish you all the best--I plan to print out several pages from this forum to bring to my dr.'s visit this Friday--I just can't fathom that all of this cr*p is "random"--is there anyone else out there with blood pressure problems lingering from Yasmin? I would be very curious to hear about your experiences--esp. about how long it took for it to go back to normal.
Connie
