I have never, ever responded to any of these "side effects" websites before! As a healthy person who very rarely requires medication, I had to find something on the web that would "explain" my suspected side effects for the Levaquin I've been taking for the last three days. This was prescribed for a UTI. The "new" side effect (that I didn't see addressed anywhere here) was what I can only describe as "asthma-like," to include wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. Anyone else with this symptom? I was also overcome with a great sense of futility that just scared me. I am normally a positive, "the-sun'll-come-up-tomorrow" type person, but this just knocked me for a loop!

I have been on prednisone taper for about five months, starting at 40 mg for six weeks, and then tapering to 30 mg for six weeks, 20 for six weeks, and I am now down to 15 mg for macrodantin induced pulmonary fibrosis. I have had weight gain, bloating moon face, muscle cramping, hair loss, and mood swings. I will be glad to get off this drug, although it has helped me a lot. I also have hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and it does not help much for that. I will just have to move out of the area because I am very allergic to something and cannot find out what it is. The water retention and the moof face are the hardest to take. I also have had back pain since being on this, and I don't know for sure this is a side effect or not. I have heard of others who have had this and when they stopped the prednisone, their back pain went away. I will let you know when I am off in April.

Two days ago I was prescribed Levaquin for a kidney infection. 18 hours later I started having nightmares, paranoia, and shakiness. At 24 hours I took my next dose. Within 2 hours I had a terrible taste in my mouth, felt extremely dizzy, in a panic, disoriented, a feeling of doom, and rapid breathing. By the time I got to the hospital I was shaking all over, crying uncontrollably, skin felt like it was crawling, and I had begun to hallucinate. Horrible things! The drs. started with benadryl, it did not work. Next came Ativan, it helped but did not stop the hallucinations...Finally I was given Haldol and it stopped the hallucinations. That was yesturday. The hallucinations are gone, but the dizziness, parnoia, disoriontation, shakiness, and just plain feeling "out of it" is still here! The Dr. sent me home with a new antibiotic, (macrodantin) and 30 ativan pills. How long will these horrible side affects continue??? please email me if you had a similiar experience.
