Our son is nearly six and has been on Singulair since he was 2 y/o. We put is bad behavior down to the "Terrible Two's". He has always displayed signs of poor concentration, impulsive behavior, hyper and the list goes on. Last December his PED proscribed Bactrim for a resp problem and it was just last weekend where we hit breaking point. His behavior has become aggressive along with all of the other bad behavior to the point we have been called for meetings with his new school to have a Physical assessment done.
I researched Bactrim last weekend and it was described as poison which we took him off right away and, it was pure luck i stumbled across this website to find that Singulair may be the EVIL after all.
We took him off both medications 4 days ago and we are praying we see behavioral changes soon....Already i have noticed he is more settled and relaxed while watching TV etc.
Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the medication to leave their system?

I did a little research and called this number to report my symptoms with Mirena and informed them that others WILL be calling.
BE HEARD. CALL!! Prevent this from happening to other women.
You may get a refund too!! I had the Mirena in for 9 months and the girl said I will get back a full refund of $487. When? Unsure.
This is what they said: They will want your name, address, DOB, how many children, were you given a pregnancy test before the placement of Mirena, was there a sonogram done after the Mirena (mine were YES), and your doctors info.
Contact info: 888-842-2937 option #3 you may have to leave your name, number and why your calling if no one answers your call. I called around 2 yesterday and they called me back this morning.
Good Luck. We are heading in the right direction!!!

I found this website by mistake and OMG i think it was mean't for me to find this. I have a 7 year old who has been taking SINGULAIR for 2 years. I never pin-pointed his behavior to his medicines(Singulair,Zyrtec,Nasonex). I feel terrible if this is why he has been acting out the last couple of years. He has been disruptive, aggresive, doesn't follow directions, complains of stomache aches, wets the bed, says he doesnt feel good. He has trouble sitting still and blurts out answers in school. We trusted our PED and assumed he would give us any info on bad side affects. I wished I would have checked into the a long time ago I feel terrible if this is what has been causing all this negativity. He also has "bad dreams" and has circles under his eyes that his allergist always said was "allergic shiners". I stopped giving him SINGULAIR a week ago but I havent noticed any big changes.Could anyone tell me how long it takes for this medicine to get out of a 7 year olds body? Thanks a concerned mother....

i think it is time for a public awareness effort about this drug. if you agree, please send your name, address and a summary of your experience to my email. i will organize a joint petition and send it to merck and the fda. many children are being harmed by this drug and parents are not aware.
if we can get an organized effort together, perhaps we can at least get the fda to begin an investigati

I'm a 26 year old male and I'm on my 5th day of Omnicef (Cefdinir). As I have a Staph infection, there is no visability of improvement, but the following are my side affects so far.
Diarrea for the first three days, somewhat upset stomach, increased urge to urinate, somewhat decrease in moral, slight change in appetite and mild trouble sleeping. I noticed there were many children and older people postings so I wanted to represent my age bracket.

I wrote about my 8yr old son in April/06, a beautiful, sweet and easy going child who turned into an anxious, worried boy who was plagued with nightmares & "bad thoughts". The only change in his life was that he had started Singulair a couple of months before. After reading this web site, I immediately took him off it. I am happy to report that he is surely, but slowly coming back to himself after being off of if for 3 weeks.
When I initially called pharmacists, Merck Frost and the allergy Dr, I was told that it was "highly" unlikely it was the singulair. Well, they were wrong it was the singulair. He was taken to our family doctor, who strongly believed it was the singulair & brought out a big thick medical book with some post market side affects in children that described my son ..."hallucinations, bad dreams, restleessness". As an added precaution we took him to see a pediatrician who was also going to re-evalute his asthma. His assistant told me that I was the 3rd mother recently to describe those side affects in their child since being on singulair. The pediatirian was also aware of these side affects in many children. Our family doctor & the pediatrician both estimate it will take a good month for the drug to clear his system. As a result of this experience, we are also taking him to a child psycologist to clean up the residue of this whole experience. While, he is almost himself again, the whole experience was quite frightening for him and doesn't want it to ever happen again.
I am reporting this to the Canadian Drug Adverse reaction Agency. I encourage everyone else to do the same in their country. Perhaps this isn't as "rare" as they say.

My son is almost 4 but has been on Singulair since he turned 3. We saw an immediate improvement in his allergies and asthma and thought it was a miracle drug. That is until we started to see our sweet, outgoing little boy change into something we barely recognized. We thought maybe it was just a stage he was going through or something and didn't connect it to the Singulair until his doctor accidentally wrote his refill prescription for 5 mg. instead of 4 mg. After about 2 weeks on the 5 mg. his mood swings increased substantially. He cried for hours everyday at school. He had previous trouble with his emotions at school on the 4 mg. as well. He continued to cry and throw fits at his preschool so often that he was ending up in the principals office. At home, he became clingy and so emotional that he would cry about everything. After doing some research on Singulair, I immediately took him off the drug. Within 1 1/2 weeks off of the drug, my little boy was a different child. I thought maybe I was the only one who had noticed until his teacher came to the car and ask what happened. She said that he didn't even resemble the same child that started school. He is sweet, and calm. He can take discipline without crying and gets praise every day instead of going to the principals office. His trouble sitting still and listening to the teacher are gone and her push for us to have him tested for ADHD has ended. He is now a star student. The only difference is the removal of Singulair from his little body.
