My husband has been on Morphine quick release since Jan 2004. He became sleepy , fall asleep anytime anywhere.
This fall , Oct 2004 we went to cancer treatment center in Zion, Ill and they put pain pump in, Medtronic with Fetanyl and Bupivicaine. That seemed to work ok for his long term pain but needed something for breakthrough pain.. They recommended Actic lollypops but the copay was $50 per month so we went with the morphine liquid. That worked ok but like all of you say, his decision making deminished and he slept alot.. Two weeks after he was home he was admitted for dehydration and high BUN. The pcp put him on MS Conten he came home and seemed ok for a week then the side affects started .. jerking , sleeping with wild dreams , talking out loud, seeing people who were not there, it has been awful.. I got on the internet and found out some info.. For one thing the dr put him on laxic and MS Conten should not be used with this med. There are so many things the drs do not take into consideration. Especially the drug interaction.. It has been five days and he is finally calming down.. He is very week, and shaky, dry mouth, eyes roll around. eys open when he is really sleeping. Hallucinations are awful. I have taken him off all morphine. even the MSIR.
Is there any pain med for cancer patients that do not have these horendous side effects. Plz share . thanks!!!
Furious with drs who are ignorant of drugs uses and their side effects.

I have chronic pancreatitus and I'm looking into haveing a Medtronic Inrathecal Drug Pump implanted. This pump would despense medication to block pain. The drug used is Depakote, in small doses from what I'm told. Just the side effects listed here are making me think twice about the drug. I have had one dose in the form of a shot in my back, a low dose and it did take the chronic pain from a 9 out of 10 to a 3 out of 10 for about 4 days. This has been the most pain free days I have had in over 2 years. I'm looking at learning more about the side effects anyone has had with a low dose of the drug and if you become addicted to it.
Thanks.

I was just prescribed lisinopril a few weeks ago, for HBP, my pressure was always low but, I recently had a malfunctioned defibrillator change and my BP went very high, so the MD put me on lisinopril. I have been on it for about a month now, but the only symptoms I have been getting is severe fatigue, sleeping a lot and very thirsty. Are some of the symptoms putting on weight, I don't want that, and I did or have not had a bad cough. But sleeping is bad and very tired all the time. Should I ask my MD to change my meds? I did have 2 heart attacks and two by pass surgeries, l4 years ago one in 93 and one in 99. Then my heart weakened and I came down with arrhythmias after passing out. They inserted a pacemaker/def. thanks to medtronic after the pacemaker and def. were recalled I had to get another one, but if this drug is causing everyone a lot of problems I don't want to take it. I do get up a lot during the night (constantly going to the bathroom) due to thirst and am constantly tired I am 51,and came down with this disease (it is a childhood disease and have had it since I was l9), but it is a scary one, heart problems. They never ran in my family. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to get my blood taken on Tuesday to see if this Lisipril is working or not. Thanks for anyone help, I really need it on this new drug. Thank you.
