My husband has been on remicade since Sept, 2008. He started having what we thought were mini-strokes and had a major one on May 25th, Memorial Day. He was given a clot buster because all along we thought he was having a stroke. After have a specialist examine him, we learned he did not have a stroke but is having seizures and it is medicine related. We are not sure if it is the remicade of some other medicine he is taking for his Crohns. His doctor and another doctor told us they had not heard of Remicade causing seizures but it is listed as one of the side effects - has anyone every had this side effect or know anyone that has - this scared us beyond belief. His doctor is contacting the makers of Remicade but who knows if they will respond. Please let me know!!

I put in the Nuvaring about 2 hours ago for the first time. Within ten minutes I experienced dizziness, "floatyness", anxiety, jitters, and about an hour later my skin started itching(back, legs, etc). I feel like I'm high? I called ask-a-nurse since it is Memorial Day and my OB is closed and she said those weren't typical side effects, though she doesn't THINK they are dangerous. Did anyone else have any immediate side effects? Thanks..

I started taking Topamax for migraines. I had been on the medication (about 25 mg 1x/day) for 7 days. On the 8th day, my doctor told me to double my dose and take 2 - 25 mg pills each day. I did that on the 8th day.

It was Memorial Day, 2006, and I had taken a pill that morning. By about 10am, I was dizzy, had blurred vision, a pounding headache, and slurred speech. When I got home, I went straight to bed thinking I could sleep it off. I woke up about 2 hours later with the most horrible pain you can imagine and was completely blind. I called for my husband, who rushed me to the hospital. I spent 4 days in the hospital completely sedated. I threw up constantly and subsequently lost 14 pounds in those 4 days because I could not keep anything down due to the pain. I saw every kind of doctor and no one knew how to help me or what was wrong.

On the 5th day, the hospital had me see an eye specialist. He took one look into my eyes and ran out of the exam room. He returned shortly and told me that I had acute angle glaucoma and that I was lucky I had come in to see him. He told me that if I had waited, I would have been permanently blind in a matter of a few hours. He had to do laser surgery to blast holes into the backs of my eyes to relieve the pressure that had built up.

He asked me what medication I had been on. I told him Topamax. He did some research and found that glaucoma is one of the side effects of the medication. When I went back 3 weeks later for a follow-up visit, I had started getting my eye sight back. The doctor told me that since I had been in, he had 2 other people with the same diagnosis all brought on by Topamax. He then called the FDA and told them they needed to list that side effect in a more visible place on the drug pamphlet.

I was taking Orthotricyc and then told my doctor I wanted to get rid of the cycle all together so she told me to continue taking the pills and don't stop them. So that is what I did for 3 months and the cycle didn't stop. I went back to the doctors and she suggested that I take Loestrigene24. I did this until Memorial day weekend and the cycle was still here (so you are talking about 5 months now of bleeding straight). So I called my doctor again and she suggested this time taking two Loestrigene24 at one time for one week and then call her back with the results. Well one week went by and still bleeding. So I decided to go to my OBGYN doctor and ask what to I do. He told me to stop taking pills all together so your system can flush out. Well in June I noticed a rash on my arms, I thought it was sun poison. These next few days the rash spreading to my legs then all over by body. I went to the doctors and they told me that it looked like pserious. I really don't think so. The gave me a steriod pill for 10 days I took that and the rash was going away. Well then it came back so the doctor then put me on a steriod cream and I am still putting it on at night time. I am so tired of this. I was wondering if anyone has had the rash? or if you know what to do about it.

I have been on Lipitor for about 4 years. Now I have an arthritic right knee and the left knee has a little bit of arthritis. My arthritis started getting really bad in both legs my left leg was just as bad as my right leg. Muscle pain was tremendous and getting up and down stairs. furniture, and the car. Then the day before Memorial Day I could hardly move, I thought I was losing both my legs. I could only walk a little bit. No energy. I too had blurred vision with this drug but the doctor said that it probably was just my diabetes. I hurt from the shoulders all the way down to the ankles..It felt like every muscle group was involved. Earlier this year the doctor put my Lipitor up to 40 mg from 20 mg even through my ldl was only 93. My last ldl was 67. The doctors say your cholesterol cannot go to low but I am wondering with all the side affedts I had. I took myself off Lipitor on Memorial Day this year and I feel better. The pain is gone except for the arithritic pain but it is not as bad as what it was on Lipitor. Soo I am done with statins I will lose weight and exercise.

My last pill was on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. I was on the 13 day pak. The weekend of Memorial day I ate food out of control. Now my face has a puffy swollen look, my knee joints are swollen, I seem to be out of breath if I do too much walking, just around the house. I have inflamed sacroiliac joints and sacrum due to a fall.

I am almost through my first pack of Loestrin 24 Fe and so far not a fan of it. I have tried many pills in the past and they had all made me gain weight. After not being on a pill for a year (and not having a period), my new OBGYN put me on this one to try because she said it didn't have the weight gain affect I had experienced on the other ones. On my second week of this pill, my breasts were very tender, I had cramping and started to spot daily. I also noticed that I am having trouble with my contacts and eyes and I am getting sun spots on my face. I am not sure if those last two are related to the pill or not. Has anyone else had any of these symptoms? Since I started spotting it has increasingly gotten heavier to where I have to wear a tampon daily and I am supposed to get my actual period on Wed/Thurs. of this week. So right now I feel like I have been on my period for a week and a half already. Is anyone else experiencing this? Please email me and let me know ******

Dear Guest 43038,

Stop taking the Yasmin.

Itchy skin is a sign of an allergic reaction which many women have had to this pill and to Yaz.

If your period also hasn't stopped, it is due to the change in hormones (Yasmin has extremely low doses of artificial/synthetic hormones -as are birth control pills are not natural, and they suppress your own natural hormones. Not good that your period has not stopped. Again, another sign that you should stop taking the Yasmin.

The feeling down and moody again direct connection to the loss of iron having your period for 14 days, the extremely low hormones that have replaced your own natural hormones.

Leg cramps are also not good-and could be a risk for thrombosis (common report and risk of taking Yasmin as well as other bcp's-Yasmin has a higher risk of this-clotting).

You know what to do. Just listen to what your body is telling you. You don't need a doctor to let you know that. There are many risks associated with this pill-just see all the notes on this site in the forum and posted side effects. There is also another site-Yasmin Survivors (link posted throughout this site) with many women that will support your coming off of it.

Istarted my second round of Levaquin yesterday along with Metrodiazanole
for treatment of ongoing diverticulitis. I was hospitalized the first week in May, admitted via the ER. I spent 4 days on IV without food , liquids or solids. Upon discharge I was given prescriptions for the above drugs for a 14 day period. Finishing up the week before Memorial Day. I began to experience weakness and pain in my knees(I have had arthroscopic surgery in the past two years and was doing well. The pain progressd throughout my joints and into my lower back, Raising myself up off the bed and walking has been wery painful I was also told that I was now somewhat anemic. When checking with My gastroentrologist's physician asistant, my docter is never personally available, I expressed my concern, I was advised there was no incidence of pain or joint problems connected with this drug. I then contacted my orthopedic surgeon and after he looked it up told me my concerns were indeed valid. As you can imagine the other docter told me this was all my imagination and would not consider an alternate plan. This morning after my first dose of levaquin, I became extremely flushed. experienced pressure in my skull and sharp pain with dizziness. I have been unstable on my feet , dizzy nauseous and in pain that even Darvocet does not relieve since I first started this treatment last month. I feel as if I am between a rock and a hard place. I need to heal from diverticulitis but at what price? Three years ago I was treated for this same condition with metrodizanole and cipro, I felt nauseous and flu like, but not as bad as this time
