I've been on Lamictal for about 4 years (generic now), I did great on 200mg of the name brand but had to go to 300mg on the generic - but with the cost difference I was thrilled. I never had any issues with the generic vs the name brand, as I have read others have dealt with.

I am posting because I just talked to my Dr. today about the memory issue. For me it is the complete inability to memorize passages, verses, words to music, etc. In fact last summer I was working with a group of students, we committed to memorize a section of about 10 bible verses and I could not do it - I tried EVERYTHING, it was horrible and embarrassing! My Dr. said that it is a side effect that some people experience and when people go off the med, things get back to normal. Back to normal for me is being completely crazy, so abnormal is just fine! I have also noticed a difficulty recalling specific words when I am teaching, I have to search my brain for the word, which is annoying - it reminds me of President Bush.

That's it, YEAAAA for Lamictal - I'm also on 300mg Wellbutrin, this is the perfect combination for me! And easy to remember 300 mg of both = )

Hi, I am new at this, I have been so frustrated. I too was told this was the best thing out there, and the benefits looked great so I got the IUD Mirena inserted. Cramping when I first got it for a few days then nothing for a while. Seemed ok, then one day I noticed my hair was thinning then more and more. So I made a appt with my gyno and she said basically it was in my head. I also mentioned a memory issue, kinda foggy feeling. She dismissed me and ushered me out by wave of her hand. I then go to a dermatologist to see if there was something there, maybe a sign something was definitely wrong. He noticed it was profuse and in the back of my head. He had my blood checked for vitamin deficiency and my thyroid, came back normal. Told me it looked like a pelican and had me use Rogaine and special shampoo and biotin. He also told me of an option to do a biopsy, which scared me. I waited a few weeks and decided to do it. It came back normal, no hereditary or any other abnormalities. He suggested removing IUD. I talked to him once more to see if anything else can be tested, he sent me to an endocrinologist. Did another blood test and all normal. He also did thyroid all over again. By this time, I was devastated. I felt hopeless. I was still thinking it wasn't possible. That’s when I hoped online and saw so much more others had the same problem!! I couldn’t believe my eyes! I am 32 and had this damn thing in me for a year and a half. I only wished I would of taken it out by that same doctor who told me was all in my head. It would of saved me so much aggravation. Mind you I was feeling a bit depressed and I noticed I was uptight and yelled at the kids a lot. The good news in all of this, I had it removed today and again they tried to talk me out of it. I told her, if I didn't have all these tests done, I would probably kept it in. I did my share of making sure nothing else was wrong with me. I even talked to my regular doctor and had a heart to heart; he explained everything that the others would not, including lab results. I am hoping that my hair will come back. I love my Dad, I just don't want to look like him....

Does anyone now how long the hormones stay in your body and how long till hair will stop falling out?

I had my Mirena put in May 2008. The procedure went well there were no issues but I do remember getting a headache that day and the day after. Really didn't think much of it even though I had never been a headache person. Now almost a year later I have been having headaches regularly. My GP said that it was probably stress. I thought not, I thought sinuses so I went to an ENT who told me I had no sinus issues. In addition to the headaches I was also feeling dizzy, in a fog and having memory issues. The GP told me I needed to have my eyes checked. Nope not my eyes. Not one to go the Doctor a drop of hat I just kinda gave up. But the memory issue and not being able to concentrate is getting worse. I finally mentioned it to my husband. I told him I was going to the OB/GYN next week with the hope that they would check my Thyroid because if you search the symptoms that comes back. My husband said what about the Mirena. Not knowing any better I searched Mirena side effects and I found this site. OH MY. All the symptoms I have been having someone here has also had. I feel so much better. I thought I was losing my mind. Thank you everyone for posting and shedding some light on this.

I'm 44 and my cardiologist placed me on 40mg of Lipitor last year. I have been pretty diligent about taking the prescribed dosage. But in the last 6 months or so, I had been dealing with severe muscle spasms, extreme muscular twitching, neck pain, arm pain, and muscle cramps in my arms and fingers. At first I thought I had a pinched nerve in my neck or ALS because of the muscular twitching. Then I had to deal with the HUGE memory lapses. I thought I was going crazy. I recently stopped taking the Lipitor because I kept forgetting to get my re-fill and voila... no more cramping, very little twitching and my arm and neck pain is improving. The memory issue hads gotten better and I notice that I have more energy.

I hate that I din't read this forum sooner. This stuff needs to be taken off the market. I would like to take the Res Q 1250, but you have to give your first born to pay for it. Any other suggestions?

Mish
