I hate this thing and can not wait to have it removed!!! I'm 45 and thought this was a great choice for me with menopause on the horizon. NOT! I had the very painful insert on Aug 4th 09 and have been bleeding ever since. 2 weeks of bleeding straight, I'd rather give birth to a razor blade! Then spotted for two weeks. Went back to have a recheck on Sept. 3rd and have had a tampon in all day and night for a month! I 'm now worried about TSS and I'm now also 10 pounds heavier, have experienced tingling in my arms, pain across my shoulder blades and I cry, a lot! I called my Dr. and she said this was normal and would subside! WHAT? Sex is not even an issue because who wants to be down in the red zone! I'm having it expelled on Tues. the 6th and can't wait to lose the symptoms and be back to normal. I look forward to having sex again without towels down like I'm house training a puppy. Good Luck to all of us and yes I think we should sue!

I am so glad I found this site. I am sitting here with heart flutters that I have occasionally. I have had asthma since childhood and was placed on Advair about 10 years ago because it controlled my asthma much better. I have not felt normal since. I am 42 years old and I have experienced most the the symptoms described. I thought I was going through per-menopause, but that was not the case. I am so glad i found this site. I would have never link my leg cramps, migraines, hair thinning, fatigue, unexplainable bruising, forgetfulness and moodiness to ADVAIR! I am going off this stuff and back to my rescue inhaler. Thanks everyone!

I'm so glad I found this! I thought I was going mad for a while there. Background: I'm a 34 yr old female. Diagnosed w/ asthma at 12, but they suspect I had it before that. Used only Ventolin for a long time. Five years ago, right around the time I had my second child, my symptoms (and allergies) seemed to get much worse. We moved around that time, to a house with a HUGE Chinese elm in the backyard (which I now know I'm allergic to) and right next to a main freeway. Around this time, Dr. prescribed Advair 250/50 when he realized I was using Ventolin up to 6 & 7 times/ day. The first year, I actually felt so much better (I could BREATHE!!) that I think I wouldn't have noticed any side affects. Year two I had MAJOR hair thinning. Dr said "age and hormones". Following 3 years on it: Almost constant nasal congestion (despite always being on a decongestant), sinus infection, tonsil infections, laryngitis, TWO bouts of pneumonia in 3 years. Around the year mark on it, I did experience the depression and anxiety, however, I had had the "baby blues" with my first child and just thought it was a more severe version of that. Now, I feel CONSTANTLY "run down" and almost always have some low-grade infection (yeast, UTI, sinus, bronchitis...etc.), am always hoarse and am just waiting for another round of pneumonia. I also get dizzy A LOT. I am in the second day of a cold turkey quit and am looking for alternative diet/exercise therapies. Good Luck to everyone!

Due to chest infection I was on bottle after bottle of prednisone for 3 months.
I had the nerves of full blown menopause with no relief!! Thank god for a caring family. They could have walked out, no one could have blamed them. Anyway, I went on vacation for one week 9 months later, and came home with my 5th, yes 5th bladder infection, Dr. put a test strip, and low and behold...I have diabetics and (my number was 495 a1c was 10+), steroid induced he told me. 2 years later I do not eat sugar at all, (numbers are 120+ aic is still 7.5+) I still have diabetics and cataract in right eye. No one in my family has it, just me. Better make sure the cure for one is worth a lifelong battle with the other. There must be a better way to fix lung infections!!! I also had a heart attack since then, don't know when it just showed up on my last physical, I was clear on the physical prior to chest infection. I now have a DNR tatto on my right wrist...I don't have insurance and I'll be damned if the medical profession ends up with what little I have to leave to my family. As I said, make sure the cure is worth what it may cost you!!!

I am curious about weight gain with this drug. I started taking it in Jan. of 08 and I felt like my metabolism just stopped....my stomach stopped growling but I did still feel slight hunger. I don't know if it's because I had just turned 30 and my metabolism was actually slowing down from age or if the Lexapro did it. I always used to jog and the weight would come off pretty well. But when I was on Lexapro I felt like I could jog and jog and jog and eat right and nothing would happen. Does anyone else have this problem?

I had laproscopic surgery done in May to remove an ovarian cyst. At that time it was confirmed that I have endometriosis. I have always had very difficult periods and at times constant pelvic pain. I have experimented with many different types of birth control and had finally given up on them because they all cause me varying degrees of depression. After my surgery my doctor recommended Lupron because I cannot take the pill. I had my first injection in September. I only did the one dose because I could not tolerate the depression that followed. At times I was nearly suicidal because I was so depressed. I have also gained weight and completely lost my sex drive...
Just after the new year I went to the ER with extreme vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. It turns out that my gallbladder is only functioning at 10%. I have since learned that this is probably due to the Lupron injection (my doctor never mentioned this as a possible side effect!! but I discovered other sites that mention it and my GI confirmed) I am visiting a surgeon tomorrow to discuss removal of my gallbladder and I am wondering if any other women out there have had similar experiences and what the outcomes were??
I live in CT and I am going to look for an OB/GYN that specializes in endo. Please let me know if anyone has recommendations for a doc in CT too.
Thank you!!

I took a Kenalog injection for allergies 9 years ago and swore I would never take another one. I had anxiety, depression, heart palpations, mood swings, high b/p and on and on...thought I was loosing my mind. Blood work showed I was post menapause and was put on hormones as well as anxiety meds and b/p meds. It took a few months to get somewhat back to normal. I could never get a medical professional to say the shot did it...but my "gut" said it did.
Nov. 15, 2006 I took another one, how STUPID. I had had strep throat, upper respiratory infection, seasonal asthma and was having a hard time bouncing back, before I knew it I had taken it again. It didn't seem to bother me for the first two weeks but then the blood pressure increase ( I was already taking a mild b/p pill), more anxiety than usual, rapid heart beat, mood swings, depression etc. returned. It took me a couple of days to figure out what was going on. My medical professional thought stress from the last few months was the contributing factor ( both my parents have died in the last 6 months and I had been caring for them for 2 years). I did not think that had caused the onset of all the above. I contacted my pharmacist who agreed with me that the shot was most likely the cause. Now I am stuck with all these horrible feelings until the shot wears off. I have been put on a much stronger b/p medication, which isn't working to it's full potential and I am taking zanax three times a day just to keep the anxiety at bay. Needless to say I have had them mark my medical chart..."ALLERGIC TO KENALOG". I will NEVER take another one.

hi guest 32977,
hi, a couple of things jumped out at me there from your post. The no sex drive is really common on many brands of birth control but one of the quite often mentioned side effects of contraceptive pills (especially yasmin) is the vaginal pain. This could be because the hormone levels are not right for you and cause the vagina to atrophy (ie become tight and dry) as happens during and after menapause.that is why some ladies have problems inserting tampons etc. the other thing that jumped out at me was that you said you had kidney surgery. have you checked that it is ok to take yasmin, did you have your pottasium levels checked? yasmin is a pottasium sparing diuretic and is not recommended for people with kidney problems. also you mentioned anxiety????? has this just begun whilst you have been on yasmin? you may find that once you stop taking it (if you choose to) that the anxiety will vanish on it's own. so many ladies have ended up taking meds for the anxiety when all they needed to do was stop taking the pill.
good luck to you whatever you decide.

I had two cortisone shots in my foot for relief from plantar fascitis. My doctor never warned me of the side effects, nor told me the name of what I was getting (just "cortisone")! I've had THREE periods in ONE month! That is *very* unusual for me, so unusual that it scared me into researching the shots I'd been given. Guess what!? Kenalog...also known as "triamcinolone acetonide."
What's worse is that I'd had numerous (30-40) shots of the SAME STUFF in my scalp for psoriasis in between the time I had the shots in my foot...neither doctor bothered to ask me if I was currently taking anything else, or had any other injections, or at least tell me about the side effects!
I am pumped so full of this stuff that I am scared I'll never stop bleeding. Headaches, back pain, abdominal cramps, abnormal vaginal bleeding, and a yeast infection to top it all off!
BEWARE OF KENALOG!!

hi ladies, now you come to mention it i also had pain in my vagina,it was so bad i stopped using tampons but as the yasmin had already put my sex drive into reverse i could not tell you if sex was painful! i didn't really think too much about it until it was mentioned on this site. i am sure that i have read somewhere that birth control pills can cause some pain in the vagina, something to do with estrogen levels causing atrophy similar to what some older ladies may experience during their menapause, can't remember exactly where i read it as i have trawled the internet with sooo many questions since my yasmin nightmare started! still... onwards and upwards, we must all look to a better future without yasmin and it's hellish side effects!

I was referred to a podiatrist on March 1st 06 for a growth on the bottom of my foot. I was given an injection of Kenalog and have experienced severe pain at the injection site. I have broken out in hives all over my ankles, lower and upper legs.My thighs are covered in horrible bruises after the hives went away, but the hive an severe itching returns every evening. I have had severe fatigue, my tongue is raw, I can not eat. I know it is a reaction to the kenalog. I am in menapause, but am having slight bleeding since the injections, I didn't connect it to the kenalog until I read these posting. I have an appt. with my primary care phsycian in the morning, I will never, never have another one of these injections again. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this helpfull info.

My asthma started with my first pregnancy, 9 years ago. I've tried every drug on the market with no results. I can easily exhaust a 200 inhalation rescue inhaler in 2 to 3 days. I've been on Advair for almost 2 years. It was like a miracle at first! I thought my troubles were over! Lately, the Advair is not helping. I sleep with an inhaler under my pillow at night because I wake up 8 to 10 times a night gasping for breath. It takes 10 to 12 puffs to recover. Anyway, I was hospitalized recently for extreme stomach discomfort. The doctors thought it was my gall bladder, intestinal blockage, blah blah blah...they couldn't diagnose my severe bloating, burning and discomfort. THANKS to all of you who took the time to post symptoms. I thought I had stomach cancer or something. Now I'm sure its the Advair. Also, I have terrible short term memory problems, mood swings, weight gain, and no sense of smell. I'm 33 and my OB/GYN put me on hormone therapy for menapause. After what I've read tonight...I'm convinced the Advair is the culprit. I'm terrified that if I stop taking it, I will die from the Asthma. Any suggesstions?

Have had insomnia for 3 days on this med, after specifically telling the MD (not my regular doctor) that I had trouble with pseudoephedrine. My heart rate was very rapid and irregular. I am also an athelete, and drink tons of water. This medication wasn't in my PDR, so thanks to this web site I have found what the culpret is, and it isn't menapause!!!!

Im not sure if Yasmin is definitly the cause of my problems but after reading all of these postings I no longer feel alone about my symptoms and definitly think that this could be it!
At first I thought I was going nuts...I have been taking yasmin for about 2 1/2-3 years now and this past year has been a complete nightmare. Within a month and a half I had 2 urinary tract infections, I have terrible night sweats and wake up to urinate more then 7 times a night. My mood is so up and down Im like an emotional roller coaster, usually it is alot worse during my period but lately it is all the time! Most of my issues seem related to hormones. I was starting to think maybe it could be I.C. I am jsut so unsure! I have a doctors appointment this coming Wednesday and I refuse to let them just brush this off. It is now to the point I cannot sleep at night and my bladder is out of hand ! I am 26 years old so I know it is not Menapause...
Does anyone else share my symptoms?? HELPPPPP!!!!!

i just took a dose of Levaquin 500mg that was prescribed to me yesterday for a lingering sinus infection.
After feeling like i am going through menapause this morning (i am 32).. i looked it up on the internet and found this site.
It has only been in my system for maybe 3 hours and i am sweating constantly, my heart rate is extremely excelerated, my eyes feel like the pupils are the size of a dime, my stomach is upset, and i am not breathing normally. I seem to have a shortness of breath. I am an extremely fit and healthy person. I do believe after this first dose and reading the postings on this site.. I will not take another pill tomorrow. I just pray that this does not linger long. I really feel "out of control"

I have only had one shot of lupron, and am scheduled for my second next week. I am also on the add-back therapy. I am taking this for Endometriosis. So far, the side effects that i have been experiencing are: always hungry, bad mood swings...i get irritated very easily, feeling that i just dont care about anything anymore, irregular sleep patterns, my breasts feel like they are being pulled inside out (extreme nipple sensitivity), back and joint pains.
I really don't know if i am going to continue this treatment. I remember that the pain is hard to live with, but now my family is telling me that i am hard to live with! Is there any othr options out there? Is this the same thing that I am going to go through when I am old enough to go through menapause?
Thank You for listening, and I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I've had it in for 7months now and all they did was put me on menopause pills for 2 weeks to stop the bleeding. And if I complained to the them about pain of any kind they said take a couple pain killers. I had a irregular pap which I've never had in my life and they said wait til next year to see if it clears on its own. I don't even think my c-section has healed enough for the iud and they said it was fine I think it was just a scam! I'm still bleeding still in pain and I don't think 23 yr olds should be on menopause pills. Those jerks didn't even tell me what kind of pills they were I found out on my own. I worried that it will only get worst. At time I feel like I might faint. What does one do if the doctors try desperately to find way for you to keep it in?
