I'm a nursing mom so my birth control options were limited. I had mine inserted 2 weeks ago which was quite painful. I'm nursing so I haven't had a menstrual cycle. I kept wondering the importance of having it inserted during your cycle. Well I learned that the reason it hurt so much is I had be dilated first. I'm still having cramping and now discharged. A quick culture showed negative results of infection and a vaginal ultra sound that the IUD expelled itself. So why the discharge and cramping is beyond me. I do not recommend this IUD. The experience has been very bad. I'm glad others like and have had a positive outcome.

My daughter just turned 19 years old yesterday. She is a Christian and has kept herself pure and plans to until marriage. She attends a Christian University. She had her last gardisil shot in May. Since this shot she has been complaining of severe fatigue, dizziness and has had no menstrual cycle. My first thoughts were concerns that this was caused by the gardisil shot. She just saw a doctor at her University last week. All the test run were negative and the doctor wants to further test for osteoporosis and place her on birth control pills to regulate her periods. She does not want this. The doctor did not perform a pap smere due to her being a virgin.I have contacted our local doctor and was informed that there was no way to tell if any of her symptoms could be side affects of the gardisil shots she received. My husband decided to investigate the side affects of gardisil and came upon this web-site. I am just wandering if this should be legally investigated and how could someone find out if there are legal ratifications for this problem. I am just praying that these are temporary symptoms and my daughter will recover and be able to have a children after marriage. Please pray with me and I will for each of you as well.

I am taking the Metoprolol generic and have mixed reviews, although I don't think that any of my side effects are life treating. My greatest complaint is insomnia. Most nights I get 4-5 hours of sleep. I also have the itching(hives), and sometimes numbness in my arms. I do feel much better since starting on this med in May, and my blood pressure is normal after being sky high. I can live with the hives, the insomnia is irritating, and my menstrual cycle was horrid before, and is now worse, 8 days out of every 27. Hopefully menopause is coming soon. I am taking 1 25mg tablet twice daily. My BP was out of control before starting any meds, so I will live with the side effects. I haven't noticed any weight gain, actually lost 14 pounds since starting it, but that could be the results of a low fat, low cholesterol diet too.

I was on the Nuvaring for about 2 1/2 months. In that time, I put on about 5 lbs around my midsection. I am very critical with weight gain so I went off of it. I also had some other issues such as a little dizziness and waking up with night sweats.
Since I've been off of it for two months, I feel like I am going crazy because of 3 things. I am SO hoping they are all related to going off of this ring! First, I have severe edema (water retention). I am 39 yrs old and normally 136, so I don't have a big weight issue, but each morning I wake up and my fingers feel like sausages. Well, this Sunday I noticed my ankles and feet were very swollen, so called my doctor. He prescribed me triamterene.
Within one night I had lost 5 pounds. The next night, 3 pounds. I was finally back in the mid one thirtys. Well, I go off of it for two days, and the water comes right back on. Along with HBP which I've NEVER had.
Then, as I was doing my 3 mile walk the other night, my chest felt like something was squeezing and crushing it. I was very scared and had to take many breaks for it to calm down.
I am so scared that there is something terribly wrong with me! I am giving it one more week to see if my body regulates itself. I am like an elderly person eating all low sodium, etc. My whole life is being turned upside down and I am afraid I am about to have a heart attack or have diabetes or both. This is insane.

I am a 41 year old woman who had an epidural injection using Kenalog in my lower back (for stenosis, disc herniation, degenerative disc disease, etc.). My first injection was on 4/1/09. About two weeks after the injection, my period started a week early. I had light to moderate spotting, not quite like my normal period. I also noticed that I broke out with major acne, had bad mood swings, constant urination and increased hunger. I had a second injection in my back on 429/09. I told my pain management Dr. what I had been experiencing, and he said that it was the side affect of the drug, Kenalog.
I just saw my GYN for my yearly pap smear and told him what I had been experiencing. He said he had never hear of anything like what I was going through as it related to an epidural injection, though he also admitted it wasn't his area of expertise. Due to my age, my GYN commented that the spotting I was having could be due to my body changing and getting ready for menopause. He said that spotting was very common in women my age. He gave me a prescription for Progesterone 100mg to start taking for 15 days to see if that stopped my spotting (and hopefully return my cycle back to normal). He also did a uterine biopsy to rule out any other causes. My uterine biopsy came back normal. I'm currently taking the progesterone and my period seems to be tapering off, but it still hasn't stopped. It went from spotting to more heavy bleeding to spotting again. I'm due to stop the progesterone on Tuesday 5/26/09 so we'll see what happens there. It's officially been six weeks of having a period.
I'm very frustrated that I've had a menstrual cycle this long. I canceled my other future epidural injections as right now, by back in doing much better (the injections did help, though the side affects are the pitts!). If my back flares up, I will seek other solutions as I will NEVER have any Kenalog again.
For those women who've had the same issue with their menstrual cycle, did your cycle ever return to normal? If so, when???

Hi,
I have had my Mirena since March 2007 and until Nov 2008 have not had any real complications. I do still have a period, it's lighter but lasts just as long. In Nov 2008, I started having problems with dizziness, stomach pain, nausea and at the time I was diagnosed with an inner ear infection, I also had a CT scan done which was normal. But after taking the antibiotics as prescribed the symptoms persisted for 3 weeks then went away. It all started again in Feb 2009, waking with severe nausea every morning, loss of appetite, tired and stomach pain. I went to the ER and had bloodwork which was normal, and a urinalysis, which showed a UTI infection. I was given antibiotics for this, but yet the symptoms persisted for 3 weeks. Both of these episodes followed my menstrual cycle. After the last bout, in which I feel completely normal, it started again. My period was two weeks late this month (March 09) it started on March 18th and on March 19th I started experiencing all these symptoms all over again. I have, bloodwork, preg tests, a colonoscopy, a stool sample, and a pelvic ultrasound, all of which have been normal. I am scheduled in a week to have an ultrasound of my gallbladder, but I really don't think that's my issue. I have lost weight, have no appetite, and wake every morning at the same time with nausea. I am seeing my family Doctor again tomorrow, he has discussed sending me to an ENT, but he is also removing the IUD tomorrow. He is doubtful that it is causing these problems after two years, but said strange things happen so better remove it to be safe.

i was on the depo shot for 2 1/2 years, and the first 6 months i had daily bleeding and that was with the shot in my arm. after the six months i had moved states and the state i was in only did the buttox shot and as soon as i started that for the next 2 years i didn't have a menstrual cycle. i still had mood swings and a few odd head aches, and ridiculous tooth decay. how ever for 6 months after being off the shot i still did not have a menstrual cycle so i went on Yasmin for a month just to make myself have a cycle. after that month i did have a cycle and went off the Yasmin. after that 1st cycle coming back i had a cycle every other week for about 2 or 3 months. everything finally regulated, and after it had regulated i spent the next 2 years trying to have a baby and it didn't work. I then started monitoring my ovulation, which i apparently no longer have. i monitored my ovulation for about 6 months and it never showed up. i don't know if this was result of the shot or not but i know i had an ovulation before because i had gotten pregnant before i went on it and miscarriage.

Just had laprascopic surgery to remove a borderline ovarian tumor the size of a 6-7 month baby yesterday. I've been taking Lisinopril-HCTZ 10-12.5 for about 2 years now and have posted on this site before regarding my symptoms. Since this med works on the kidneys/adrenal glands and adrenal glands regulate some hormones I am wondering now about the possible connection between this med and my sudden cyst/tumor. The tumor was actually my left ovary enlarged to that size! Although benign, my very first symptom of this cyst started exactly when i began the med. It grew pretty rapid over a two year period. I have found no proof or mention anywhere and every doctor looks at me like I'm crazy, but my entire life I have NEVER had issues with my menstrual cycle or even much pain. After I began this med, I HAD to use ibuprofen every period. I began my cycle at 11 and not until 34 did I have issues - same time I began Lisinopril/HCTZ. Are their any women who are having female problems since taking this? Of course, the heart palpitations, arm and leg aches (like those of growing pains when you were a kid), dizziness, anxiety, depression, irregular sleep habits that I cannot break, increase appetite for mostly meats and proteins, some mild hair loss, abdominal cramping/tingling, hands and feet numbness, shoulder/neck pain, overall achyness, sudden/rash emotional extremes, even suicidal thoughts I know are side effects of this med.

I also received a kenalog injection from a dermatologist for rashes that wouldn't go away. He told me ONLY that it would probably mess up my menstrual cycle. I thought "yeah sure that sounds great" I just wanted relief from all the itching. The rash did go away but i started to notice a dent where they gave me the injection. It has since gotten bigger and I am scared and wondering what is going on with me. My doctor never told me of atrophy or even that it was a possibility. I consulted with another doctor who told me he is not sure how this couldn't happened and that they probly injected in the wrong site. i now know after coming to this site that i am not alone and it is the kenalog that has caused me grief. Doctors need to be responsible in letting patients know every detail about the drug they are using on us. I was reassured by him that my only side affect would be irregular periods. Hopefully one day mine will go away but until the people need to be educated on certain steroids.

I have just spent the last hour reading some of the post about Yaz. I have yet to read one that states she is diagnosed with PMDD and that is the reason for her dr. putting her on Yaz. Yaz is not only a birthcontrol pill but also effective tool in treading PMDD. PMDD is the more life effecting sever side effects of your menstral cycle. Some of the side effects people are experiencing on Yaz are those that I suffer with on a regular basis. You see I have been diagnosed with PMDD. I suffer every month for at least 7 - 10 days before my period starts. I literally hate human contact during this period. The slighest thing makes me uncontrollably irrate with things from fuzz on my carpet to the site of my husband. I experience svere road rage. Have absolutley no desire to do anything but eat and sleep. These side effects make life for everyone around me pure hell. Once my cycle starts they subside. I literally turn into cruella deville every month. I have been put on other antideppresants for the treatment of PMDD with no good results. I gladly welcome nasuea, headaches and break thru bleeding versus no sleep for days on end, halluctinations, memory loss, and flat affect all symptons I experienced on Prozac the most common treatment of PMDD. Not only do I suffer from PMDD but I have horrible horrible monthly periods consisting of major bledding with excessive clotting. I go thru 2 40ct. boxed of tampons each month and a box of maxi pads too. So if a headache is the price i have to pay for a few months I say bring it on. Any dr will tell you and the pamplet that comes with Yaz state that you may suffer some side effects until your body becomes adjusted to the new medication. You can't just pop one pill and say whalla my life is perfect now. I just started Yaz this week and so far no symptoms listed on this site have i experienced. Maybe some people need to be more patient. Medications are like diets, they don't all work and they were not intended to be overnight miracle workers. I will keep and eye on this site and further update with any success and or non success I have with this med. Remember talking a med used to treat an ailment that you don't have can make you suffer from worse side effects.

I was put on Prednisonsone for Uveitis, inflammation of the eye. He started me on 20mg at 9 pills a day, then each week it was lowered to 6 pills then now i'm on 3 pills and then next week it will be 1 1/2 pill and i'll be off. I got the puffy face, my feet swelled, everytime i hate my stomach bloated and hurt, my face and neck turns red, i stayed hungry although i fought the temptation of eating for not wanting to gain a lot of weight, which I don't think I've gained any. But now I wake up in the middle of the night and severe knee pain, it feels like my knees they are in some kind of device that is crushing my bones they hurt so bad. i caught a bad cough and it's been around now for about 2 weeks and won't go away, i told the nurse about it and she says, i probably just got what everyone else has gotten, just a bad cough, well what's if it's some kind of infection? I look like a chipmunk, my face is so puffy. When i get off these prednisone in another week I WON'T BE going back on them, no matter what the case. I'm in more pain being on them and have more side effects while on them than the problem i was having with uveitis. I think some co workers thank I'm over reacting, but they're not here they don't see all the pain and frustration i'm going through while on this drug. The leg pain just started this weekend and i Know i can't deal with waking up everynight like this in severe pain. Everyone just makes me feel like i'm over reactin and it's nice to know that somebody out there is going through the same thing. Any comments will be great.

Ive been on NuvaRing for the past 1 1/2 years. I was on the patch - or Orthro Evra. I had consistent vaginal problems including yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis (BV) - at least once every 2 months - not fun! Since starting the NR, I haven't had any bacterial problems or yeast infections, but I have noticed the lack of sex drive and depression. Once a month when my menstrual cycle comes around I'm like a loose canon. I could be very moody, snappy, or just down right sad - about nothing. I guess you have to sacrifice somethings to achieve others. I'm glad I don't have infections anymore, but is there something else I could do to help with the emotional side effect?

I am a 24 year old mother of two, a Four year old, and an 8 month old. I got Mirena inserted 10 weeks after the birth of my daughter. It sounded so appealing, just get it inserted and forget about it. Well it's been almost 6 months and I certainly haven't forgotten about it. I had constant bleeding when I first got it, I bled for two straight months. And more often then not since then. It is always unpredictable, so I usually either wear a tampon, or pantyliner, which is horrible. I have no idea when my menstrual cycle is anymore, and I always used to be like clockwork. Even when I'm not bleeding, I am having more discharge. I am always tender in my uterus, and quite often, I actually have contractions. It even hurts if my kids set on my lap too hard. I also have extreme moodiness, with feelings of guilt after outbursts. I haven't really gained weight, but I feel very bloated in my stomach. I have no energy, which I need with two kids. And about four months ago I broke out with eczema like rashes on my face. I never struggled with acne, and it never occurred to me until my mom suggested that it may be from the mirena. We don't think we want anymore children, but I feel like we are too young and it is too soon to do anything permanent. But I'm not sure if this is worth it. I have an appointment on April 2nd with my OB to discuss this, and I just might have it removed.

I have read most of the postings on Yasmin but I haven't seen one where women pointed out experiencing terrible amounts of clots and incredible amounts of actual mensing... So it makes me wonder if I have another underlying condition? I have been taking Yasmin for about18 days now, started on my first day of mensing, and 18 days later, still mensing like there is no tomorrow and passing clots the size of the palm of my hands at times!!! It's unreal! And I went and bought 3 packages, I wanted to finish one and see but I think it's all gonna go to garbage now!! And to say I use to have a 30 day cycle with 2 days of pre-spotting followed by 3 days of actual mensing... some clots but not half as big and certainly not as many!!! Very disappointed with Yasmin. I am done with it.

Hi... I started using Jasmin a month ago. The primary reason for starting Jasmin was PMDD. Prior to taking it I was showing symptoms of PMDD, mild depression, hopelessness etc etc... since starting Jasmin I have not had the huge emotional swings but I seems like I have become very angry and have little interest in much at all. I too have also noticed I'm beginning to put on weight and my stamina for fitness has dropped considerably. I am very tired all the time, my eyes are quite dry and I have started getting cramps at night when I am asleep. I have been off any birth control for the last 8-9 years and was anxious to start taking BC again due to side effects...after reading all these posts I am thinking strongly about coming off Jasmin. But then how do I combat the PMDD ? The pill was also a way to be able to stop my menstrual cycle to help combat endometriosis...

8 months ago I had kenalog in a very large bolus injected into my knee, since I have had severe deformity to my knee and surrounding area. My skin is paper thin, to the point you can feel the grooves in my patellar surface, I have had very abnormal bruising to my knee (the bruise has never gone away and is constantly changing), my menstral cycle has stopped, I have bouts of severe moodiness, the tissue surrounding my knee appears to be eroding away, my skin is peeling, and my recent MRI shows very abnormal findings. I was not warned of the severe side effects. I have also recently developed GI bleeding.

Kenalog shot over 1 month ago for allergies. That nite, I had severe muscle aches and headache. Then that went away. The allergies stopped almost immediately (which was great), but I began getting side effects. For about 2wks, I had excessive urination, almost every 30minutes. I also had rapid, pounding heartbeat for about 4wks. My period, which was due one week after the Kenalog shot came 2wks late- was normal. But then my next period came 2wks early, and I am still having it (for 10 days now). I am a person who is ALWAYS regular!! I also noticed anxiety/agitation during the first 4wks. I have also gained 10lbs, although I exercise, eat well.
I hate this drug.

I had this injection for a slipped disk in my L5 lumbar spine. I am a healthy 31 year old female. I had hair growth and non stop periods. I had 4, 9 day periods in 2 months and I now have anemia and low sodium. After going to the gynecologist and running a bunch of tests on me, it has now been confirmed that only the Kenalog shot could have been responsible for this. They had to put me on birth control pills to stop this and now I have side effects from that too. From what I see others have had this side effect too and I believe this is much more than just a menstrual irregularity! I have also gained weight (15lbs) eventhough I was slender, eating very healthy, and exercising everyday. The doctors who gave me this shot said that it wouldn't affect me like other corticosteroids, but apparently they were very wrong. I am definitely letting the FDA know this.

Hi everyone,
It's now been a little bit over two months that I have been off Yasmin. I get better everyday. I would say I'm about 90% back to normal. My menstral cycle is still really short like it was on Yasmin, however right around the time I'm supposed to get it, I have a few side effects like I used too. Especially, the heart beat in my right ear and a bit of anxiety.
I can pretty much deal with that stuff, however I have been dieting and exercising more so than ever and I can't drop any of the 30 lbs I gained the last couple of months on Yasmin.
Any suggestions as to how to lose the weight?
Thanks,
Hill

I started searching for any side effects of Yasmin after a young lady on another website that I frequent asked about it. I started taking yasmin in 2002 after I had sugery to remove tumors from my ovaries. I experienced such terriblr pain during my menstral cycle right before and right after my surgery that my gyno prescribed it for me. It did stop the pain but my body has not seemed right ever since. I contributed it to my body being confused after my surgery, I never would have contributed it to the yasmin. I had absolutely no sexual desire (and it is still at a minimum), I would wake up in a pool of sweat every night, I have had excessive weight gain. Before my surgery, I weighed 115. At my last visit to the gyno I weighed 160, My weight had not been an issue in my adult life and I cannot seem to lose the weight. Since beginning a serious workout routine, I have had terrible pain in my knees and I battle with depression and for a while had constant anxiety attacks. When I tried to tell my doctor that I thought something was wrong, especially about the weight gain, he said that it couldn't possibly be the yasmin. This site has really opened my eyes. Thanks ladies!

I'm 39 years old and I had a bilateral transforminal kenalog 80mg spinal injection on 02/24/06.
I finally feel great after 3 years of terrible sciatic and lumbar pain. I walked in w/ my husbands help and was ready to do back flips when the procedure was over. It's been over a month and I still feel great.
My side effects were: A menstral cycle of heavy bleeding for 3 out of the 16 days and that was towards the tail end of the mentstruation. The other side effect was insatiable hunger. I thought it was from my cycle since I usually get very hungry with that but it turned out to be from the kenalog as I was told by my GYN.
I will be having blood work to make sure everything else is OK, but if anything changes I will post.

I have had Mirena for 2yrs now and have been lucky enough to not have any side effects...at least I think. I am 23 and have never had a child and was suggested to use Mirena due to my horrible periods. I literally went to the ER a few times due to the severity of the pain. Now that I have it I do not have that sever pain anymore.
My question to you ladies is...Iv noticed, before but now more recently, that during intercourse if my partner goes too deep I get a sever pain. Also I will experience cramping the next day and begin to bleed. Almost as if the intercourse began a menstrual cycle. This happens even after I have a "regular" cycle. Has anyone else experienced this?
