This is my 2nd time with Mirena. The first time I had no problems and kept it in for 4 years until it was time for another baby. My baby is now 17months old and I've had Mirena for 3 or 4 months now. I hate it. I'm having severe mood swings, crying fits and depression. I haven't been able to eat well or sleep well. I'm considering having my tubes tied after having this Mirena removed. I'm calling my doctor first thing Monday morning to get this taken out. Does anyone else experience severe mood swings as well?

Hi I am dumb struck by coming across this site i never dream it could be my mirena causing my unexplained symptoms but the more an more i read it i am fighting with my hospital to get it removed A.S.A.P. i have suffered severe dizzy spells, heavy legs, fatigue, sweats, headaches, loss of concentration, mood swings, bloating, thinning of hair, weight gain, depression, dont want to communicate, just fallen apart in the last 17 months, had number of tests all come back normal,i been back to hospital today to fight this corner an they need to see how many women this really affects as every doctor i have seen says no way can it be the mirena but reading all these this needs looking into.i am worried about the dizzy spells they are my most concern along with panic attacks that come out of the blue..makes me think it may be my mirena after all :( just want to be back to my old self again..i have been to A& E at least 9 times with same symptoms only to be put on diazepam which i don't like to take,i am so upset that i still got to wait 6 weeks+ to have it removed as i got to go under to have it done as they cant reach the threads they are up instead of down...i am hoping after my long wait that i have now found an answer to all my symptoms an the mirena needs to be looked into more.an after it is removed i hope i get better as i have also read it can have after affects.nightmare wish i never had it put in.....

I had the mirena put in when I was 17 and I absolutely loved it. I was like yay no periods and no forgetting to take the pill. I am now 19 and within the last two weeks Ive been having mood swings from hell, I cry for no reason, my breast have been sore, break outs and I feel like Im being ripped apart from the insides on and off. I have no sex drive....what 19 year old girl doesn't want to have sex? I haven't ever been pregnant so I don't honestly know why they gave me the mirena. With all the things going on that I just listed I definitely thought I was pregnant but my new boyfriend and I just started having sex like two weeks ago so its too soon to show these symptoms and thats how I knew it was the mirena. I don't have insurgence I cant go have it removed. I cant feel my strings which worries me too death I have no idea what to do. Heres a video about a woman whos mirena got lost in her body! ******

This website is a joke! After I had my Mirena inserted 4 months ago I started reading on the internet about possible side effects. I was furious with myself that I hadn't Read up on this before the appointment. There were so many horrible reviews involving hair loss, weight gain, acne, and mood swings! I was so scared and actually thought about removing the Mirena that week. I then found multiple reviews on websites not owned and operated by other drug companies that are trying to scare people in order to prevent the sale and use of the Mirena and the side effects listed here were a 180 degree difference. I have not experienced any weight gain, in fact, I recently was able to shed 5 pounds from picking up running again (so it is possible to LOSE weight on the Mirena as well). I have had zero hair loss, have not had a pimple anywhere or any random hair growth. My live in boyfriend and I have discussed if we've noticed any mood swings or changes and my mood which is usually optimistic and positive has been the same since I had the Mirena inserted. My periods are much lighter and although they can last an extra day or two more than what I was used to, they are light and I have not had any cramping. I'm writing this review not because I absolutely love the Mirena, I think it's a fine form of BC but who LOVES their BC, isn't it all kind of a pain. The Mirena is by far the most convenient form of birth control and I don't worry at all about missing a day and the chance of getting pregnant. I'm writing this review because I encourage everyone to talk more with their doctors about the side effects and look around on the internet for REAL websites.

wow i cant believe what i have been reading. I have been struggling with weight gain and mood swings for the past 7 months. My doctor thought it was post natel depression so put me on tablets. After gaining 15 kilos i went back begging for weight lose tablets but wasn't able to have them because of the anti doctors. It wasn't until yesterday when i was helping my friend find a suitable birth control did i work out that it was the merina that had been causing me to feel this way and why i'd put on so much weight. I've gone up nearly 3 dress sizes. I'm am now heavier then when i was full term with my third child, who is now 13 months old. I'm going to my doctors tomorrow to get this horrible thing out. Then i'll have to ween off the anti d's, which i probably didn't need in the first place. It has had such a bad effect on my marriage to the point we are now attending counselling.

I had Mirena inserted in Nov '08. I bled constantly for 6 weeks after and then nothing. I only have occasional spotting. At first I thought this was great - no period! (woohoo!!) but now I actually miss my period. It's not natural not to have a period! I've been experiencing a lot of side affects that I was attributing to turning 40 but after reading the symptoms others have been experiencing, maybe it's not due to my age. I've had problems with large ovarian cysts. I constantly have pain in my ovaries which I'm thinking it must be more cysts. I've gained weight and can't loose it no matter how hard I try. I have no energy and no interest in a lot of things I used to love to do. I have pain in my knees, pain in the joints of my fingers as well as mood swings, depression, anxiety, memory loss. I recently went to the doctors because I felt I had a constant lump in my throat - I went for an ultrasound and found I have multiple cysts on my thyroid. I'm not sure if this is all related to the Mirena, but I don't remember feeling this crappy before I had it. I'd like to have it removed immediately but I can't get an appt' with the GYN until September!

In march Of .09 I had the mirena Inserted, It hurt Like nothing I have experienced. "I had a c-section when My daughter was born", I loved it I had some cramping some nausea here and their right around when i was suppose to start my period. This past month I started to feel nauseous and had a feeling like I might be and pregnant, i went to go get a home pregnancy test and it cam out positive. Later that week I went swimming with my daughter came home and started to experience some heavy cramping that wrapped around my back, I was determined to go to the er and have it removed and get tested to make sure that I'm am are Im not. the test came back negative and the doctor refused to take it out... errr.
So in the next week are 2 my symptoms get worse to the point were I can not bare it, I was constantly nauseous and had horrible cramping. and my period wasn't due for some time, I even noticed My blood pressure rising when i was in a confrontation with another lady. and had to walk away; Just this Monday I had it removed which I didn't hurt when the doc pulled it. humm.
I felt the symptoms almost vanished until a couple of days later when I started to feel nauseous again, Hopefully I will feel a 100% percent better here soon. I do not recommend the mirena for anyone

I had my mirena inserted 6 months ago because my Gyn recommended that it would decrease the effects of endometriosis that i am suffering from in addition to the pain. Since then i haven't had a normal month without pain and without bleeding, i bleed 3 out of 4 weeks and the pain in some cases is unbearable. i am planning to take it of shortly. any recommendations?

Hi,
I have been on Cilift for anxiety and depression for 13 years. I also have hypothyroidism so am on Eltroxin every day. I have been on Urbanol for a while but it was not helping the extreme anxiety. I was prescribed Seroquel and have been on it for 3 weeks. My anxiety seems to be far worse, especially in the mornings but it does help me sleep at night. Stilnox sleeping tablets were not working. I have a pain in my chest, severe headaches, tingling feeling in my hands and a 'funny head'. I am on Yasmin as I have the Mirena but it does not work. The Mirena is still fitted. I have now read on this site (thank goodness I came across it) that both these cause extreme anxiety. I have now stopped the Seroquel and plan to stop the Yasmin and have the Mirena removed. If you have any similar experiences please comment.

This is my second time writing in. I wrote about symptoms in Feb. and now have MORE to add. I have had Mirena in for a year and a half and things are starting to add up! I still get a period though it is a little lighter than before. I am still spotting (even after all this time and there is no knowing when this will happen), heart burn, hair loss, heart palpitations (even have gone in to ER and had test run with no conclusion except I need more sleep and less stress - ha - been a mom for 9 years and haven't slept forever, why would this happen only now?) dizziness, back pain, constipation, bloating (my stomach will not go back to pre pregnancy size), gas, fatigue. My doctor says no way related! More needs to be done to make women aware of these side effects! Especially when they tell you before that there are no side effects!!!

I had Mirena inserted in 2007 due to a lack of tolerance to birth control pills. The experience was very painful for me. However, the doctor explained that the initial insertion process is different for every woman as we are not all designed the same. My cervix/uterus is oddly positioned. According to the doctor they are "crooked". As a result, the doctor had a difficult time properly inserting the mirena, which in turn resulted in major pain! But, this was just my personal experience. Not every woman will encounter this difficulty. However, I would recommend taking at least 2 ibuprofen before the procedure. Throughout the past 2 years, I have experienced a range of symptoms. Major depression, severe mood swings, acne, lack of energy, excruciating lower back pain which mocked mild labor pains, and the overall inability to function normally. I begged the Doctor to remove the Mirena 6 months ago, but she convinced me otherwise considering I cannot tolerate birth control pills either. Nevertheless, I am 35 years old, have one child already, and do not plan on having more. Well, last week, I was basically confined to my bed due to excruciating lower back pain, and severe bleeding. I called the Doctor, and they finally saw me today. I insisted on having the Mirena removed once and for all, and already feel 100% better just 12 hours later! The purpose of my message is not to discourage anyone, as we all have different levels of tolerance when it comes to pain, medications, etc.....Yet, I felt compelled to share my personal experience as it was not a positive one for me! The only "positive" symptom I obtained from the Mirena was a lack of periods. Unfortunately, there was a downfall to that as well. Due to a lack of a regular menstrual cycle, I felt extremely bloated, and had difficulty losing weight despite working out 5 days a week, and eating a proper diet. I sympathize with each and every one of you, and appreciate your efforts in sharing your experiences. Upon stumbling upon this website a few days ago, I finally found the courage to have this thing removed so I can once again "feel normal!" Good luck to all of you!

LOL- EVERYONE! I'M SITTING HERE SEARCHING FOR SIDE EFFECTS FOR MIRENA AFTER REMOVAL. I HAD MIRENA FOR 1 1/2 YEARS, AND I REMOVED IT ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE EXTREMELY HEAVY BLEEDING SO I FIGURED I WOULD SEARCH IF IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE REMOVAL. WHEN I HAD MIRENA INSERTED, I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS! THE ONLY SIDE EFFECT I HAD THE ENTIRE TIME WAS EXTREMELY LIGHT PERIODS FOR 2 DAYS, BUT I GOT THE PERIODS EVERY OTHER WEEK! WHEN IT WAS REMOVED, I FELT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! NO PROBLEMS! I WAS IN SHOCK BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO HURT. THE ONLY REASON I DECIDED TO HAVE THE MIRENA REMOVED IS BECAUSE MY HUSBAND AND I PLANNED A TROPICAL VACATION, AND I DIDN'T WANT TO BE BLEEDING ALL THE TIME, SO I FIGURED-GET IT REMOVED AND GET THE DEPO ( I HAD DEPO FOR 9 YEARS AND HAD NO PROBLEMS, AND NEVER GOT MY PERIOD). WELL, HERE'S A FUNNY STORY!! THE REASON THIS VACATION IS IMPORTANT IS BECAUSE I AM CONSTANTLY DEPRESSED, ALWAYS CRYING, EASILY AGGRAVATED, LOST ALL MOTIVATION, LAZY-I STOPPED CLEANING/ COOKING, I DON'T GO OUTSIDE WITH MY LITTLE ONES- MY HUSBAND DOES, ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. NO SEX!! MY HAIR IS FALLING OUT , EXTREMELY BAD ACNE (RESULTING IN MANY TRIPS TO THE DERM. AND SHORT HAIR CUT), I SOMETIMES FEELS PINS AND NEEDLES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY FOR DAYS! I WENT TO THE DR. AND SHE SAID I WAS EXTREMELY OVERWHELMED, STRESSED AND DEPRESSED! I ALSO HAD A THYROID TEST. MY THYROID IS FINE, AND AS FOR THE MEDS THAT WAS PRESCRIBED FOR DEPRESSION- I NEVER TOOK THEM ( I'M NOT A PILL TAKER-CAN'T REMEMBER!) SO AFTER ALL A TROPICAL VACATION IS JUST WHAT I PROBABLY NEED TO SNAP ME OUT OF WHATEVER MY PROBLEM IS! WELL, AFTER READING THIS , ALL I COULD DO IS LAUGH!! YOU SEE, LOOKING BACK----IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS- I HAVEN'T CRIED, I AM FILLED WITH TREMENDOUS JOY WITH LOTS OF ENERGY. I TOOK MY KIDS TO THE PARK AND FOR LONG WALKS NUMEROUS TIMES. I CLEANED THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND IT'S STILL SPOTLESS, COOKED ALMOST EVERY NIGHT, I HAVEN'T HAD A SISSY FIT, OR FELT SOME TYPE OF ANNOYANCE YET, MY FACE IS CLEARER, MY HAIR HASN'T FALLEN OUT AND GREW LONGER. AND MOST IMPORTANT I LOST 34 POUNDS! ( 174-140). RIGHT NOW AT THIS CURRENT MOMENT I FEEL BETTER THAN EVER! MIRENA BEING THE CULPRIT NEVER ONCE CROSSED MY MIND. I SUMMED UP MY PROBLEMS TO BEING STRESSED FROM MARRIAGE, 3 HIGHLY ACTIVE CHILDREN AND RUNNING A BUSINESS. SO I SIT HERE IN MY GLORY AND CHUCKLE TO MY SELF THINKING ABOUT ALL MY POINTLESS NAGGING & CRYING & BLAH BLAH BLAH. AND I THANK YOU WOMEN FOR OPENING UP AND BEING HONEST BECAUSE I NOW KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG! THANK YOU.

i had my mirena taken out October 08 as i am 40 this year and wanted to have another child.i had suffered with terrible back aches and tiredness with the coil in so was revealed to finally have it taken out thinking all would go back to normal and that it would only take me a short time to conceive as i always had done in the past. now i find that my cycle will only last about 3 weeks and a couple of days. after i have ovulated i find that i feel very sicky really really tired, i feel dizzy and find it hard to focus sometimes my boobs will stay very tender right up until my period has kicked in and i can feel very low for no reason. i never had any of these symptoms before the mirena and i am still trying to fall pregnant. i no my gp will say its my age but i don't believe that i am still very young for my age and take care of myself. this is all since having the mirena.

okay ladies, i posted about 6 months ago regarding my acne and moodiness. I went to my doctor and consulted about having the Mirena removed. She said the acne would subside in 3 months due to a decrease in the hormone. I was prescribed an antibiotic and some some results however, I am now having the Mirena removed next week. My ACNE is horrible and embarrassing. I feel like a teenager and feel self conscious at work or socializing. Just like when I was a teen. I hate it and am fed up. I get a new zit everyday. I am broken out on my face, back, neck, and arms. how gross. I do not feel attractive and can't wait to have it out. I called Planned Parenthood today just to see if I could get it out NOW. But it will have to wait until next week. I am going to look into the Nuvaring and see if that is any different. I will say the only thing I liked about Mirena was not having to worry about popping a pill everyday. Anyway, if you had acne problems before I would not recommend getting this. Sorry for the spelling but I am so frustrated right now.

Wow..I have been wondering for awhile now if the symptoms I have been having for over a year now had something to do with the MIRENA, and now I know I am not alone. I had the Merina put in in August of 2007, due to prolonged bleeding after my 3rd child (2nd pregnancy). I had on and off bleeding for the first 6 months, which they say is normal. Since then, I have experienced sore eyes, head aches, thinning hair (to the point that my pony tail holder falls out all the time), thinning eye lashes, and I feel sick to my stomach on a regular basis. My memory is horrible lately too. The worst of all would have to be my mood swings, anger, and feelings of depression. My poor husband and kids. I have 3 beautiful children and an amazing husband. None of us deserve this. I can feel my change in mood come and go. I went to my doctor and had all my blood work done and tested , and it all came back normal. I am 30 years old, I eat right and exercise regularly. There has to be something hormonally going on. I did not have these symptoms before the Mirena, and after reading everyone's experience, I truly believe that the Mirena is what has caused this major shift in the way my body feels. I want to take back control of my body.
Thank you all for sharing your stories. It has helped me to know I am making the right decision in getting this taken out as soon as possible. I'd rather have long periods, and take a pill everyday than have my entire life disrupted just because the Mirena is convenient. I have 2 goods friends that have the Mirena and they love it. I guess it just goes to show that all of our bodies are different, and it's up to us to listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us. Good luck to you all,and I will post once I have it taken out on how it effects me.

Unbelievable. Really isn't it ? That we listen to our doctors first, and our bodies last.
I'm so glad to have found this site. I'm having my second Merina removed asap, after experiencing the same symptoms again that I did the first time. But I listened to my doctor who told me that no way could the coil be the cause of my depression, anxiety, sore boobs, extreme tiredness. Its probably just my age. I'm 40.
All these symptoms have crept back 18 months after it was re-inserted, so back to the doctor, who is male(but incredibly patient, thorough and understanding, fab in fact) but said the same thing, as did the trainee doc who was in the room(female-altho she looks about 12)
They, both with a wry smile, said that the coil is localized, and couldn't possibly be the cause of all my symptoms- heres another prescription for anti-depressant, and anxiety pills for you- But, I thought to myself, one is a male, and one is barely out of school, how can they know better than me that something just isn't right.
So i've made the decision to have it removed again, and this time there no going back to it. i'll just find an alternative, and if my symptoms remain forever more, then I will mentally apologise to them both.
I am wondering how long it will take to notice a difference.
Thank you, this site and all of the ladies who have written down their experiences. love the internet.

I have the mirena for a lil over three years now. My doctor strongly encouraged it. He told me there were no side affects like all the other birth control methods. Yeah right after reading all these post I have realized I have all the same problems. I just thought I was crazy. My husband was always upset there was something new wrong with me, little did I know there was one common factor. I have developed a ovarian cyst on my left ovary on top of all the other problems due to the mirena. I am happily getting it out next week! After having a bad experience with Merina I'm kinda weary on what other birth control to use if anyone has any advice please let me know.

I had the mirena inserted on 1/8/09 and have felt miserable since. The mood swings are horrible and I can no longer focus (probably because I'm always so pissed off j/k). I have an appointment with my ob tomorrow and will ask him to remove it. What a shame that I didn't do more research before getting it in the first place. I had a baby in Sept and my ob assured me that this was the perfect birth control for me. I can't take bc pills or do the depo shot (clotting disorder so no hormones). I was extremely nervous about getting this because of the hormone but my doc insisted the effects would be localized and not systemic. Uh huh... I'm going to chalk this up to a lesson learned and never EVER get anything else medically inserted into my body again.
BTW, can anyone tell me how long it takes for the effects (i.e. mood swings/anger/fuzzy brain) to wear off?

Hello to everyone. I'm 25 years old and have no kids. Had the mirena inserted 1-13-09 and been feeling like crap ever since. Thought it was because I was on my period and the usual pms problems that are associated with, but apparently not. Haven't stopped bleeding and cramping since the mirena went in. My cramps, bloating and mood swings were never this bad and it's only been 1 week. My periods never lasted no more than 5 days and no more than 4 days for my cramps. My doc told me it was because I haven't had any kids yet and that I would get used to it. Haven't yet. The pain you got when they first insert it, hasn't stopped, (sharp like cramping) a burning sensation and If I bend down, it feels like someone is poking me with a burning knife. I wish I had found this site a week earlier and saved myself the $525 I spent out of pocket. I am making an appointment today and having it removed asap. I thought I was seriously going crazy, but found this site and saw how many other women are experiencing the same problems with kids and without. I will report back, as soon as I feel better.

Hi. I had the mirena put in 8 weeks after my second son was born, that was Feb 26, 2008. Well I didnt feel a thing when it was placed, I felt just fine. The only thing that sucked was I was bleeding heavy every day for 4 months. Then I just started spotting the next 2 months. Then I just stoped bleeding all together. I tell you what Ihave been feeling pregnant ever since. I've taken 10 test and they all came out negative, but i still feel like it. I have my mood swings and i crampy. bloated, depressed, and heck im always tired. Also i have gain so much weight thats its disscussing. I dont even go out in public any more. Cuz when i do people will ask how far along i am and im not even pregnat. But thank god im getting this thing out jan 14th and i hope i start losing weight and get back healthy. Has anyone else can alot of weight with the mirena? I went all the way up to 210 and now im stuck at 190 i dont go past it thats. so hopefully i do when this is removed. Well let me now if anyone has the same problem.

Hi all, after reaing about all these experiences I am finally seeing he light mine was also inserted on a fateful Monday morning 27 Oct and today is the 4th of December - I have been bleeding ever since, the headaches are a way of life and the cramping is unbearable - but how did we miss this - I did so much research on the Mirena and nothing I mean NOTHING was ever mentioned about all this drama! I went back to see my gynae after 2 weeks of non-stop bleeding and only then was I told that you "could" bleed for about 3-6 months after the insertion. I miss my life of spontaneous roll's in the hay doing it on the couch, kitchen as now my fiance wont even touch me for fear that I am still bleeding! My medical aid has been exhausted and I cannot wait for January to have this horrible thing removed - my Christmas holidays are nothing but doom and gloom!!!!!!!!

For me having the Mirena removed just last Thursday was the right decision. I was not using it for birth control but as hormone therapy for heavy, crampy periods. I had it inserted in July 2008 and bled every single day for the entire time, I had it removed last week and now I am bleeding very heavily but hopefully that will stop once all those hormones are out of my body.
While on Mirena I lost all sex drive, I became severely anemic and with that fatigued terribly, and moody, crying at nothing and screaming at my kids or husband for stupid reasons, I felt bloated and gassy and didn't have those problems before.
I am 42 years old and I hate my heavy bleeding in fact I want a hysterectomy, but not sure now what I will do.
For those of you who had the Mirena removed, how long did it take to stop bleeding afterwards? This is draining every last ounce of energy for me and I am taking iron supplements.
What sucks is the cost of this, Even with insurance I ended up paying a lot out of pocket to get this thing and then all the Dr. visits due to bleeding and side affects in the 4 months it was in and now the removal of it. I am wondering if there is any way that we can get a Class action lawsuit against Bayer for this horrible thing they are trying to sell to women.
I know there are some out there who have not suffered all these horrible side effects at least not yet or that they are aware of, but I truly believe that there is nothing good about this IUD and those of us and there are a lot of us who have suffered with this should be reimbursed or compensated for the pain and loss of parts of our lives and expenses with this. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Ok here goes I have posted on here once before when i first saw this site right after i had mine put in back in aug i think it was aug 23rd i got it in and i posted the next week. well i had stabbing and poking pains where it was and you know how its in there pointed side down so they can pull it back out. Well guess what! I went for my follow up visit to check placement and they couldn't find the strings! I freaked out i thought it fell out so and i had been having sex and thought i was going to end up pregnant again which i don't want or need i already have 2 kids and a soon to be step daughter that aggravates me beyond belief. So they did an x-ray and it was still there thats what the girl that did the x ray told me. So i went back to the room thinking that they could just go and get the strings and put them back where they need to be. WRONG! The dr comes in and says well its still there and then he proceeded to tell me the damn thing is UP SIDE DOWN!!! How in the hell does that happen?! I asked him if it would still work and he said yes cause of the hormones. Then i asked him if since the pointed side is up instead of down like it needs to be if it could rupture through my uterus and he said IT SHOULDN'T! Ok now im thinking well it shouldnt have turned up side down, and now your telling me it shouldn't rupture through. So i preceded to ask so when the time comes to get it out how are you going to get it out? He said "I don't Know" "Maybe it will flip back around to how it needs to be by then"
Ok thats not it. I stay up very late like right now its 3:30 in the morning and i haven't slept yet and when i do sleep i can sleep all day long if my boyfriend doesn't make me get up. I am always tired and i have no energy. After i had my daughter i had a lot of energy i had lost 90 pounds on my check up after having her the scale was 90 pounds less than what it was 4 months before i got pregnant with her, so of course i had lots of energy. Then i got this put in and now im dragging ass so to speak. And now im wishing i would have gotten my tube tied instead.
I have hot flashes, i am always hot even when im out side and its like 30 degrees out there now. I don't wear a coat just because i will start to sweat like i have been working out for hours.
Sex is VERY painful, put me into tears painful. I will take it as long as i can before the pain is unbearable and i start to cry and sometime scream because i cant handle it. That is putting a real big strain on our relationship. Also to top this off i am Rapid Cycling Bi Polar. Im 23 years old my kids are 20 months and 4 months then my boyfriend has a 5 year old daughter and i loose my cool with her a lot. My meds are not even able to control this anymore. (and i take a lot of them) My mood swings are not just aimed at her but towards my boyfriend who i have been with for 5 years and that girls mother and grandmother they get a lot of my anger.
I have very rude out burst like i have terets or something i am not myself anymore by no means. I have turned into a mean person. but my kids i can keep my cool with them for the most part except when my son the oldest one starts throwing his fits that last for ever.
I cant concentrate at all and that is hurting my grades a lot in college.
My house is not staying clean because i don't have the energy to get up and clean it and if i do i cant stay focused long enough to do it all (which that could be related to my bi polar syndrome)
I don't want to have sex at all still.
I don't know if all of this has to do with my bi polar or if its the mirena.
I don't want it out because i don't want anymore kids and i don't have insurance to even go see if its still in my uterus. but i get bad stomach pains and i get really hot then very dizzy and start seeing black and purple spots and feel like i will pass out. My psoriasis has broke out even worse.
I have started noticing joint pain.
Im not suicidal or anything but sometimes i go to bed hoping that i don't wake up in the morning and that could be bi polar getting bad but i really honestly don't know what to do. Because if i get it out i cant afford the pill which i wont remember to take, and i will need to get my tubes tied which i cant afford and don't know if i might want more kids when mine get older. But i AHHH!!! I just don't know what to do anymore. I would like to sue the pants off this stupid company cause of how i feel and they might have to do surgery to get it out which can ruin all chances of me having more babies forever.

I don't know what is wrong with you people but its like you can't handle anything. I had the mirena put in November last year and yeah ok i had cramping for the first month or so and yeah i had spotting. But unlike some of you fools i knew what the side effects were i read what came in the package which means i knew what to expect before i got it put in. And yeah there are loads of possible side effects but if you read everything and know what could happen you shouldn't complain if something does happen. Not everyone who has the mirena has these things and for people who are considering it i would recommend trying it and after 3 months if it doesn't feel good then get it removed. That especially goes to people that have just had a baby... i mean really in the first 3 months after having a baby who is really seriously interested in sex right away. The reason i am here was to see if there was more information about them now because UNFORTUNATELY i had to have mine removed for an operation. I had a cyst on my fallopian tube which was not mirena related. In fact almost all women get them when they are menstruating but they go away. Unfortunately with me they don't go away and this is the 2nd cyst to be removed in 3 years. I am planning on getting a second mirena inserted next week. Because frankly i find it ideal. And yeah i may have had mood swings on occasion while i had it but come on think about it what woman doesn't have mood swings. So sure you can blame everything on the Mirena but for the most part besides then for the people where the mirena got stuck or moved during the time you had it... its all in your head. And like i said before i would recommend the mirena and if after 3 or 4 months it doesn't suit you then go for something else... but don't dismiss it because some people have too much time on their hands and like to spend it whining over everything on the net. Remember with the Mirena you have a 50/50 chance of having symptoms or not. Take that risk before taking the risk of going on the pill and forgetting to take it or going on depo provera and putting on 20 pounds.

Wow, I'm speechless I came across this website! I just had to share my experience! I had my Mirena removed yesterday. I'm 29 years old, I had it put in 5 years ago under General Anaesthetic whilst having a laporoscopy for Endomentriosis, I was advised by my doctor to give Mirena a go - at that stage I was desperate for a bit of relief from such heavy bleeding and cramps. Reading everyone elses side effects, has made me realize, I have suffered a bit over the last 5 years! I gained 25kgs, and could never understand how I could not shift the weight, I'm really active, play a lot of sport, and eat healthy, I was diagnosed with depression also, and have been taking anti-depressants for 4 of the the last 5 years, I've at times been very short fused, angry, and anxious. Now I've had the Mirena removed, I can't wait to see if I can shift my extra weight with ease! Having it removed was absolutely horrific! The pain was so bad, all I can describe it like, is someone giving your cervix a Chinese burn! OUCH!! I have been bleeding quite heavily, but have been told this is normal????? Is it??? My husband and I hope to start a family soon, so fingers crossed all goes well! I know for some woman out there, the Mirena is great! But for those of us who suffered... I feel your pain... literally!
