I had my mirena inserted in July 2007, so we're working on two years. At first, I noticed some sharp pains in my abdomen. When i asked my doctor about it, he told me it could not be related to the mirena and I should try prilosec. I probably had indigestion. I thought...oh, ok. If you say so! But it didn't go away until about 2 months later.

I could list all the same things as everyone else - hair loss, sore breasts, metal taste in mouth, cravings of food just like when I was pregnant, omg, the weight gain and stomach bloating is what kills me the most. I seriously still look pregnant and I didn't even think much about it until I looked at photos of myself post-baby, but pre-mirena. I looked SO much thinner and so much better rested. I seriously don't even look like myself.

I complained to my doctor last May about being super anxious and having trouble sleeping. He prescribed Lexapro for me and told me I probably had some left over baby blues. I took Lexapro until Christmas of this year when I one day just decided not to refill the prescription. I just don't feel like me. The lexapro made me cloudy and I didn't feel anything. I couldn't cry. I'm a TOTAL SAP and I couldn't cry! I couldn't feel anything. So, I took myself off it, which was no picnic in the park. Dizzy beyond belief.

It's been tough because even my husband seems to think this all coincides with becoming a mom and that is what changed me. But, I don't buy it. I love being a mom. I am good at being a mom. I have no anxiety about being a mom and so on. My body is screaming at me to change my hhabits. I've increased exercise, gained weight. I can't stop eating....and I eeat crap.

OK, enough from me. I'm getting this thing out next Monday and I don't intend to tell the doctor why. I am going to suggest I may like to get pregnant again as my reason - because I know he'll honor that reason and take it out. I plan on taking a 6 month rest from inserting any kind of chemicals into my system and seeing what happens. At that point, if my body has changed and gone back to some normalcy, I will probably go back on the pill. (I just didn't want to go back on it after my child because I got pregnant on the pill in the first place!)

I took 750mg Levaquin for 5 days for a sinus infection and after the 2nd day had a horrible headache, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, muscle aches and metal taste in mouth. At first I thought I was getting the flu or that it was from the sinus infection. After taking the 5th pill and not feeling any better, I found these postings which explains everything. My doctor did not tell me anything about the side effects. It is 3 days after I took the last pill and I am still suffering from severe headaches, dizziness and some nausea. Do not take this medication unless you absolutely have to. I do not normally have any side effects to medication and am not on any other meds. I just hope the headaches go away because I am having to miss work as a result and not able to give attention to my family. My fear is that the headaches won't go away. One posting said that her daughter's headaches went away after 6 days...I can only hope at this point. Terrible drug and shame on the doctor for not warning patients. Try other antibiotics first before you take it.

While I am truly sorry that many of you have/had such terrible side affects from Levaquin, I just finished taking a 10 day supply of the drug about 2 weeks ago for diverticulitis, and only had very mild effects (metal taste in mouth, and very slight pinging pains in my gut the first day or so, which still was much better than the constant pain of diverticulits).

On the 3rd day I was doing some internet research on this drug and came upon this site. Even though all of these messages scared me tremendously I decided to continue with the rest of the dosage, and just pray that I didn't get any worse effects. I thank God that was the case!

Several things that I did while taking this drug that may or may not have limited the side effects: Stayed out of the sun religiously (I already had a bad sun reaction to Doryx Tablets about a month previously, so I learned my lesson from that). I also drank A LOT of water each time I took the medicine, which I'm pretty sure helped reduce the pains in my gut that I had the first day. I also was already on a soup diet for the diverticulitis, which may have helped but I'm not sure. Finally, I took the drug every day at around 5:00pm and then ate my dinner at 6:00pm which probably doesn't mean anything but who knows!

Anyways if I get prescribed this medicine again in the future, I probably will ask if I can have some other drug due to everything I've read on this site (I've looked and have hardly seen any other sites about other drugs that told of so many people with so many side effects).
