BTW...also have had major weight gain with Lamictal...loss of sex drive, tired all the time (there could be other things that affect this but)
I also take high BP med, acid reflux med but I don't feel they contribute to this problem with Lamictal. I've been on those meds way longer than L so...I think I just would like to "start over" and see how I can feel better.
I used to think L was exactly what "the doctor ordered" (no pun intended...again, glad I can sorta laugh at this but...) BUT I DON'T FEEL GOOD!!
Another doc prescribed me Provigil and didn't really explain what it was. She said I needed it bc I was tired all the time. I actually went there bc I thought I had Fibromyalgia and all I got was a 'script for Provigil and sent on my merry way. Got it filled, took my first 200 mg pill and thought I was goin' out of my freakin mind!! OMG!! Told my psych doc and he was like, "P not good for BP patients" so...BUT I did cut the dosage down bc it was SO nice to have energy to make it through the day but still, I do not suggest taking the stuff.
Anyways....just thought of this after I posted walla go...tx!

ps Im not sure the L works that great on the depressive side of BP

I was recently diagnosed with MRSA and cellulitis. The doctors prescribed me Bactrim, taking two 500 mg pill twice daily for two weeks. I went back to the hospital today due to fever, swollen/ painful lymph nodes in my arm. They decided to change my medication which I was instructed to start tomorrow and continue Bactrim until the switch. Now my body is itching all over and is extremely sore.

I have been taking 12.5 mg of metoprolol every night since December. I had no side effects whatsoever until here recently. One night I started getting heart palpitations and it lasted for 5 nights before I decided to try lowering my dosage. After I lowered it to 1/4 of a 25 mg pill, my palpitations at night got better, but I recently had a dizzy episode where my heart was beating at over 100 bpm. I have talked to my doctor and they are going to hook me up to a holtometer for a day on the 31st, but I don't want to wait that long since my heart beat has been increasing over the days on 1/4 a pill and half a pill makes me have palpitations at night. So I was wondering, if my doctor has me change medication, does anyone here know about any good meds that do the same thing as metoprolol?

I went to the Doctor and told him I have been on Beta Blocker nebivolol for 15 years. He pointed out that one of the side effects of nebivolol was that it caused diabeties. Well he then prescribed 10mg of Lisinopril and told me to replace my beta Blocker with this. I said ok and took my 10 mg pill and was ok for about 5 hours. Then my chest felt like a mack truck was on it and the pain lasted for 8 hours. I had such pain before with my Beta Blocker but that was because I took too much at times of high stress. But that pain only lasted 1 hour. This Lisinopril pain lasted 8 hours and I was jumping in bed like a mexican jelly bean. The next morning I called my doctor and told him what happened and he said "that is not a side effect of the drug and just keep taking it." . I told him the dose was too high for me and can I cut it in half. He told me just take it and don't give both of us a heart attach. Well I dumped my doctor after such advice and am looking for a new one. I tried taking 2.5 mg and got similar pains though reduced. Finally I went back to my old drug and feel much better though I am not happy that my old drug causes diabetics. No body ever told me that. I am more stressed out now then I was before and hope I can find a doctor, who has a good bedside manner and knows what the hell he is talking about. Thank God for this site.

I broke out in hives because of food poisoning. At Kaiser, they gave me an injection of Prednisone. They gave me 10 mg. of Prednisone to take 4 10 mg. for 3 days, then, 3 10 mg. pills for 3 days. Since it was making me sick, the nurse instructed me to take only 2 10 mg. pills, and the following day, to take only 1 10 mg. pill. I took the last pill on Thursday. It's now Saturday, and I have the worst pain in my chest, my head and throat hurt. Can anyone tell me how long until this wears off? Is this normal?

I am a 48 year old female who had just recovered from pneumonia and was prescribed avelox for a lingering sinus infection. Within hours after taking just 1 400 mg pill, I began experiencing a severe reaction. First there was a rash all over my body, with swelling and flushing all over. Then I became nauseated to the point of dry heaves and my temp went to 104 digress. My body then had neurological shakes, I could not control them -- just like Parkinson. I had no energy to move. My husband rushed me to the ER where I was treated with steroids, liquid benadryl, nausea medicine and IV fluids. After a few hours, I was released. Two days later, after another trip to the ER because of tingling, rash and no blood flow to extremities the same treatment was given. It has now been two weeks and I am just now feeling like I am coming out of this and getting back to normal. I have just spent over 10 days in bed, untold amount of money at ER and lost two weeks of my life.. BTW, the ER Doc said he would never prescribe Avelox to anyone due to the numerous reactions he has seen. If there is a class action suit, count me in.. Never let anyone take this drug..

OMG...I can't stand it anymore!! My legs are killing me!!...I am almost weaned off of it...tomorrow I take one 10 mg pill....and then the next day, I take 5 mg....and I'm done. Thank God!! I pray that I have no bad side effects from weaning off of it. I worry that I won't be able to breath again. Then what??...I will not take prednisone ever again!!...I think I would rather die then live on this horrible drug....If only I knew what it was before I started taking it.

I have been taking Lisinopril (5mg) for about a year now. It was not doing the trick so I was bumped up to 10 mg. About 3 weeks after taking the 10 mg pill I have started to feel really bad, as if I was being poisoned. My symptoms include the dry cough, achiness in my arms, legs, joints, back and oddly rib cage (like a shooting pain). I am now also getting the itch I have read about. This stuff is like poison. Im going to ask my doctor for another drug as this one is not the one for me. Has anyone else experienced the symptoms I mentioned, specifically the pain in the legs and arms?

help ........... I just now broke a Wellbutrin SR pill in half and took it. .... ** What is going to happen ?? I am scared.

I saw a website that says: "Do not crush, chew, or break the extended-release tablet (Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL, Zyban SR). Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time."

I just now decided to start taking again after 3 years because i have been having anxiety and can't stand it anymore !!

I am a pack a day smoker too. 46 year old male.

After 3 days of Levaquin at one 500 mg pill per day for a sinus infection and swollen lymph node, I suffered severe pain in the calf muscles of both legs and am only able to walk short distances, if at all. This started yesterday and I have stopped the drug, am icing my calfs, relying on friends to help me, and praying that there has been no permanent damage.

I was on prednisone for a little over 2 months for my asthma and it got even worse so my dosage got upped and I overdosed on it and had real bad mental side effects from it. i'm a healthy male who has worked out for the last 8 years, i'm 22 years old and 225 lbs with a good build, i workout every day and run 3 miles a day. i was taking 10 mg pills 3 times a day and then got up to taking a 50 mg pill once a day and within 2 days of taking the 50 mg pill i was HORRIBLE. the mental side effects were so bad, i didn't even know where i was or who i was at times and now it's about 5 months later and i'm still noticing the mental side effects, not quite as bad, but it's like a constant headache that never goes away. i talked to my doctor and he sad that they can last several months after you take it but won't be permanent so i'm still just living with it and at times it feels like it's rough and tough to deal with but you just have to keep thinking that it will get better. the sleeping problems can also be a problem too, but for anyone out there who is debating on taking it, I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND IT, STAY AWAY AT ALL COST IF YOU CAN

I was prescribed Zyrtec a few years ago for allergies. I also have MPV and need to take Atenolol, I will need to take Atenolol for the rest of my life. My cardiologist recommended I stop taking Zyrtec because it can give you an irregular heart beat. When I tried to stop it I got very bad withdrawal symptoms, chills, heart racing, insomnia, itchy skin. I thought I was going crazy, so I took one Zyrtec as soon as I took it 15 min later the symptoms stopped. The next night I decided to try and cut the pill in half and only take 5 mg, that was ok for 3 day's then the symptoms returned. I had to take the other half of the Zyrtec and then the symptoms went away.
I can not believe that I have to find a way to wean off Zyrtec. I am very annoyed that they do not list on the label that their could be withdrawal symptoms after taking Zyrtec for a while. I am not giving up I am going to continue and try to wean myself off the Zyrtec, hopefully I won't have a heart attack in my attempt to get off this drug. If anyone has a successful way to wean off Zyrtec please post it. Thanks and I hope this helped someone who was thinking of taking this drug. STAY AWAY FROM IT..

I was taking Ambien for a year. I ended up with a sever sore throat that lasted for months and trouble breathing. After going to nine doctors, and missing work for a month I was diagnosed with esophogitis and acid reflux. I even went to the emergency room by ambulance because I was having trouble breathing. I was aspirating stomach acid. I was talking with my gastrologist about surgery. I decided to make a list of what was different in my life that might be causing these symptoms. Ambien was on the list. I have been off Ambien for two months now and all my digestive problems, sore throat, breathing problems and acid reflux have ended.

I took 1 .4 mg pill. ONE pill. This is now the second day and I cannot ejaculate at all. My orgasms are weaker than they used to be, and I'm scared that this isn't going to return to normal. I can't believe that they let people use this stuff..

I was prescribed this drug because of a kidney stone that I needed to pass which passed and would have passed without taking the drug. I thought that it would be nice to have around, but there is no way in hell I'm taking this ever again. I'm just sorry that I wasted ~$40 on this med with my insurance! This is one expensive drug, and the side effect of not being able to ejaculate is not worth it to me.

How long does this crap stay in your system!?

I'm seriously worried.

On the up side... I think they've inadvertently discovered a male birth control pill.

Here's another article about a guy having a similar experience and discussing how the company found a male birth control pill:

http://www.theputdown.com/theputdown/2008/03/flomax-male-bir.html

Had I read this, I never would have taken this drug.

I've been taking Cephalin Monohydrate now for two days: one every hour and my heart seeded up a double (up to 120 beats per minute). I'm taking it tonight cause I afraid I might have a heart attack if my heart beats get faster. I stopped taking now for nine hours and my heart beats are getting back to normal little by little.
Hope this could help you.

Thank you so much for all the information! My son was prescribed Singulair pills this fall. He has been taking them for seasonal allergies and we had no problems. These were the sample chewable kind. Then came the pills... Unfortunately I did not see the news or read the article about the side affects of Singulair. Within 4 days my happy well adjusted 10 year old had serious sleeping problems along with stomach aches. He will wake up screaming and crying and cannot tell me what is wrong. He said he had a nightmare but doesn't remember what it was about.

My husband was away on a business trip when I started him on the medicine. He came back to a very unhappy and sleepy child. I asked my son what he was scared of and he asked me to tell daddy that he does not feel safe while he is out of town. He can't sleep unless he is by one of us. He's not safe. His bedroom is 15' from our bedroom! He loves his doctor and begged that I call Dr. Becky so he can talk to her.

I could not take this anymore and started thinking about what was wrong. I went through all his activities, friends he's played with, school problems, anything! Then it hit me, effects of Singulair!

Wow, what an eye opener. Fortunately my husband did not have him take it this morning. He will not be going back to this medication. Ever!

Thank you for the information once again. I hope everyone's child gets better. Everyone wants a happy well child. No child should have to go through this. They have enough pressure as it is without the meds making things worse.

I have taken adderall xr 30mg once a day for 4 years and have noticed many different emotional levels and behavioral changes. At only 20 i am starting to become concerned with my mental state as of now and in the future. I have experimented with the drug and found that i can take 8 30mg pills at once and survive it, not recommended at all.

I'm a 35 yr male and have been dealing with depression/anxiety for years due to current & past issues in my life. This post IS dealing with singulair side effects but want to give some history as to why I think it's singular and not something else. For the past 2 or so years I've been using xanax which has worked fairly well in controlling my anxiety, but my doctor preferred I stop taking it because of it's potential for abuse. I've been on SSRI's before and I hated them, so I did some research and decided to try wellbutrin which works differently from the SSRI's. I was still using xanax while ramping up on wellbutrin the end of February. To my relief, the wellbutrin started working wonderfully - felt like I could cope with life, increased energy, better mood, with no negative side effects (actually some positive ones) - the only problem I was having is I traveled during this time frame and developed a bad case of sinus rhinitis due to the climate changes. I've had chronic sinus problems my whole life so it's no surprise. I tried most otc meds and nothing was helping. In the meantime I was feeling so much better (other than the rhinitis) that I decided to start tapering myself off the xanax. When I got to the point where I'd stop taking the minimal dosage I would start getting physical withdrawal symptoms (headaches, dizziness, etc) which is fairly common after taking for a prolonged period of time. The side effects were strictly physical - no excessive anxiety or psychological craving My sinuses were still really bothering me so I had two reasons to visit the doctor - try to get something to relieve my sinuses and to get a short supply of a benzo with a longer half-life to ease the withdrawal from xanax. The doctor gave me a prescription for a month of diazepam and 9 weeks of singulair samples. That was 3 weeks ago. I immediately begin using the singulair, but still had some xanax left so I decided to continue on a minimal dosage and use it up before I went to fill my rx, which I just started several days ago. Coinciding with when I started taking the singulair, all the positive benefits I was feeling from the wellbutrin just suddenly stopped. My depression and anxiety came back worse than they were before - another persons post describes the change in me: feel very anxious, fearful, reclusive, depressed, that everything is going to go wrong, or is always wrong. I'll have extreme anxiety about small everyday things. I’m unable to concentrate. I've also become more irritable, argumentative, and aggressive. I have difficulty falling and staying asleep. I also experienced a very noticeable decrease in sexual energy after a very noticeable increase which is a side effect of wellbutrin. I can even understand the rationale for suicide just to be free of this emotional nightmare - not that I would do it - but can understand it. I couldn't figure out why I went from finally feeling good about life to suddenly feeling worse than ever before. I guess I didn't realize it right away because my sinuses were much better, but I know these symptoms began occurring very shortly after I started to take the singulair. I was trying to figure out what was going wrong with me and yesterday I did a web search on 'singulair side effects' (since it’s the only variable I could think of that changed within that time period) and came across this site and several similar ones. It blew my mind how many people were talking about the exact things I was feeling. Yesterday was my last dose. Does anybody know how long it takes for this crap to work its way out of your system after 3 weeks of use???

Is anyone here when referring to Zocor taking the generic or the brand name? I have had trouble with vivid dreams and after several months I am exhausted from this sleep interruptions. I used to take the name brand before they had the generic
and had no problems at all.
The vivid dreams started after taking the generic.
Any responses would be appreciated.

thanks

I have been taking it for two weeks. The first week I noticed severe itching lasting 30 minutes or more within 3 hours of taking the 50 mg pill. I also had headaches, insomnia, nightmares, ringing in my ears and short term memory loss. I thought these symptoms would decrease when my body adjusted to the medication. After taking it for one week, my blood pressure did not go down, but increased. I called my doctor's office to let them know. I should have reported these side effects at that time, but since I just talked to the nurse on the phone, I didn't mention them. The nurse told me the doctor wanted me to double my dose since it was not decreasing my blood pressure. I then began having swelling of the hands, feet, ankles & lower legs, joint pain, increased thirst, dry lips and mouth, shortness of breath in addition to the original side effects. The only thing that stopped was the itching. I am going to call my doctor's office Tuesday (we are in the middle of a 3-day weekend/holiday) and report all of this.
