I got a positive culture back for bacterial vaginosis which is quite common, and was prescribed bactrim DS (was given septra ds which is the same thing). that are only 160 mg tabs for 10 days 2 times a day. I was fine for about 3 days, on the 4th day I had decreased energy, pain in my left calf, and I was very irritable and felt nauseated and dizzy after taking the pill, I also felt cramping in my lower back and sides. On the 5th day, I had the same symptoms, on the 6th day I started to have stiffness in my neck, and I was nauseated and came close to vomiting. On what would be the 7th day my neck was stiff but wasn't worrying me too much not enough to make me think something was wrong, and I went to the doctor to find out if I was pregnant or not and sure enough I am! So I asked her then, could I be having an allergic reaction to the bactrim? My nurse said no, its probably related to my pregnancy. Now, I've been pregnant before and NEVER have I experienced neck pain at 4 weeks pregnant.. And most people will say "irritability, nausea, pregnancy related!" This is irregular. because when I don't take it, I am perfectly fine. after I got home the pain got progressively worse as the night went on. So I didn't take the evening dose. I went into the doctor on what would be the 8th day with so much neck pain I could hardly drive myself there, they told me nothing was wrong and told them I am positive that I am having a reaction to the bactrim. they said its probably just a cold. That if i were to have a reaction it would have been only in the first few days. They told me to continue use with the bactrim and relieve the pain with Tylenol, cold/hot compresses yadda yadda. Mind YOU as they are saying I can not move my neck even to look at the doctor to my right. I had to ask him to move in front of me, so I could see him! I know my body. While having it out of my system for the short time, i took Tylenol and felt amazing, i could turn my head, was making enchiladas! but since I took the morning dose, by the evening I was in agony. The pain is predominantly on the left side on the back of my neck, from the nape and base of my skull spreading down to my shoulders and back. It has also spread to behind my ears and on the left side of my skull. the Right side is not nearly as painful, I'm wondering if it might have something to do with being left handed. And I know I shouldn't have continued using that antibiotic, but I did. Doctors orders aren't always good orders. NOW I AM IN SO MUCH PAIN... I took it again this morning, thinking "my doctor would only prescribe this if he thought the risk of the side effects is worth the cure." And its gotten much worse. nothing has helped. I can only take Tylenol every 4-6 hours, and it only lasts about one hour if even that. I am exhausted, and the pain when i woke up made me nauseated, trust me I KNOW what morning sickness feels like. I was dizzy and nauseated from the sheer pain, and I have been so restless from the pain. I'm done using it, and I will tell my doctor that I refuse to use antibiotics in the future as well. I'm really upset, I know my body. I know what I am feeling, and it literally feels like there is an attack on my neck from the bactrim, and its spreading.

I was given a prescription for Trazodone four days ago beginning with a 150mg dose. I have a very long history of getting by on three to four hours of sleep and was constantly tired. That first dose really knocked me for a loop the next morning. When I first stood up after the alarm went off I was spacey, groggy, unsteady on my feet, joint pain in my knees and hips, and slight pain in the muscles of my legs. It was a full three hours before I felt somewhat better although I felt unsteady on my feet and when I walked, I walked as though I had a hangover. I decided to only take 75mg tab the second night. I slept twelve hours. When I awoke the above mentioned symptoms were still there but were much, much lest in intensity. The third night I took 50 mg. I slept nine hours and when I awoke the symptom were really minimal and felt quite normal after an hour or so.

I was wondering if high doses of Lamictal can cause seizures. I am prescribed 200 mg 2x daily. I accidentally took 800 mg for a few days after switching from 2 100 mg tabs 2x daily. What followed was miserable. I had this weird vision-thing like a microfiche on its side, running very fast. I got dizzy, then had trouble walking. By the time I got to the hospital, I was having severe tremors, and the (dumb) hospital did not give Ativan for 45 min.after this started. The doctor said it could not be a seizure, because I was slightly aware at times, and could answer questions. I can't remember almost all of it, nor about 24-48 hours after. They had to administer 10 mg of Valium in the ambulance on the way to a separate hospital. The thing lasted for over an hour, I guess, and my husband (who has seizures from childhood also) says it was terrible- full generalized seizure. What ticks me off is that later they called it an anxiety attack, without knowing about the Lamictal doses. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

Stay away from Prednisone
My prayers to all of you who take these destructive "medications". here's my short story.
I had been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis back in 2003. My doctor gave me 60MG per day (three 20 MG tabs) for over six months, with the weening off period lasting another six. To make a long story shorter. I went through many of the same problems like, bloating in the face and body, rashes, a bump that looks like a wart--that still won't go away, and a continuing state of memory loss. I get baffled easy now. I also continue to go through mood swings.
But here's the kicker, I haven't taken Prednisone for over 3 years and I was trying to begin lifting weights. I thought I popped something in my arm, but the doctor says that I have "aseptic necrosis", that has developed in my left shoulder and soon to start in both sides of my hips. For those who don't want to "google" the term, basically parts of my shoulder and hip bones are not getting blood flow and are dying (necrosis).
With my memory loss, I am having difficulties performing at work and doing routine tasks at home. I did not think this "medication" would have affected me this much.
Prednisone needs to be on the banned list of medicines.

My Doctor upped my Niaspan ER from 1000 MG to 2000 MG per day. Reason to get my Total Cholesterol down below my present reading of 168. He also put me on a new drug called Ranexa, 500 MG Tabs twice a day.
It has been a month now and I have started to have a loss of energy and heart stress problems. Before taking the increase dosage of Niaspan, I felt a lot better

I've had a problem of chronic stress for the past few years. During the past 10 months, I've made 7 visits to the ER because I felt symptoms of a heart atack. Each time I went in, it was EKG, ultrasound, cat scan or IMR, blood workup, oxygen, stress test, etc. I was in the ICU once, for 24 hours. Each time, the results were negative. This past visit (1 month ago), they detected an arrhythmia. This prompted the ER doc to prescribe the drug Metoprolol Succinate ER 25 mg tabs. I am to take it for 3 weeks, then see my GP. Since returning, the heart beat is irregular and somewhat harder than before. It's uncomfortable laying down in bed so I sleep in the living room, sitting up. In addition, I'm taking anticonvulsants (Keppra and Lamictal) and food supplements. I'm due to go in a week and this really has me concerned. I'm wondering if everything is working against each other. I signed medical releases with all four of my doctors but they don't communicate as I had asked them to. The side effects are: constant headaches, ringing in the ears, hallucinations, mental confusion, bipolar/depression, joint pain, weakness in muscles, spasms, panic attacks, increased stress, vision problems, plus thoughts about high medical bills. Any thoughts about this? I don't expect you to respond to this but my email address is:****** Thanks for considering what I've shared with all of you.
Well, I've been having

This website may not have saved my life, but it has certainly saved my sanity. Beginning in May 2007 I was prescribed Toprol XL for a supposed heart condition. I was instructed to begin with 50 mg per day and go to 100 mg per day after 10 days. Since I already had the 50 mg tablets, I simply started taking 2 of them together when I raised the dosage. On July 25 I ran out of the 50 mg tabs and filled a prescription for 100 mg tabs. Immediately upon starting the 100 mg tabs I began experiencing side effects which increased in severity daily. By Monday July 30 I was convinced I was losing my mind. Then I discovered this website, and read that many other people had suffered in the same way. What I have trouble grasping is why the same dosage had different effects. I tolerated the 100 mg/day dose just fine when taking 2 50 mg tabs, but the 100 mg was dreadful. I've checked the pills, and both the 50 mg and 100 mg are Astra-Zeneca products, not generic. The markings, shape and size are consistent with 100 mg tabs, so I haven't been inadvertently given an overdose. I immediately backed off the dosage, and am gradually going to reduce and stop the medication. I urge anyone who is having these problems not to stop at reporting them here, but also to contact Astra-Zeneca at www.astrazeneca.com, and to report them to the FDA's Medwatch website, www.fda.gov/medwatch. It may seem fruitless to contact Astra Zeneca, but they need to be made aware of these problems.

I have been taking adderall for over a year, but for about 10 months ago, I started taking wellbutrin also and since have had chronic problems with my ears, It's actually getting worse. Not so much ear infections, but the pressure is actually pushing inward. So i feel light headed just funky all day. Kind of like a head cold without the cold. I can't figure out which one is causing (i think wellbutrin) since that's when it began. But it could be the combination. Just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this. I am 35 female.
thanks pam

Hi, have been taking Lisinopril-HCTZ 12.5 mg tabs for just about 2 years now. I have an on and off again rash, which is excascerbated terribly by being in the sun. At least I can cover up when outside. I am wondering if anyone else has little or no sex drive from this med??? And I also have experienced more down moods, and depression that comes and goes. Has helped BP, but have not tried any other med that may have fewer side effects, any ideas I could ask my doctor about? Thanks!!!

I was prescribed levaquin back in May for a sinus infection. Have suffered from severe side effects, worst of which being joint and muscle pain, stomach pains, weakness and hives (last dose was taken 10 days ago). This has been the most physical discomfort and pain that I've ever been in. In addition, my ability to concentrate and recall easy things has lessened.
-- By wynnac | Reply | (5) replies | Private Message meThe "Bafoon" of a doctor that prescribed this claimed he didn't know what was wrong with me after a normal blood test. My new knowledgeable doctor told me that some people can't even walk after taking Levaquin. She says it takes on average 7 days to 6 weeks to feel improvement. Being a 36 yr old woman, having to move turtle speed, and feeling like I'm in a 90 year old body is very depressing.
If anyone has any information on any class action or mass tort litigation lawsuits please send me the information. This drug is poison and should not be prescribed for minor infections!!!
