WOW! I have NEVER had a ride quite like this trip. LSD and shrooms ain't got nothin' on these awful little buggers! At least when you ingest a hallucinogen intentionally, you are, or should be, somewhat mentally and physically prepared for the ensuing consequences. I really wasn't down with wigging out on antibiotics while sick as hell. I have mild anxiety occasionally, so I picked up on what was happening physically pretty quick. Until I did tho, I was a bit freaked out. Thought I'd write this for those of you who haven't had any experience with the physical/mental "symptoms" that can occur with this drug. Strange thoughts, detachment from physicality and reality, paranoia, anxiety...all of which can/will trigger actual physical side effects like rapid heartbeat, rising blood pressure, headache/migraine, vision distortion, ringing ears, extreme nausea/stomach ache, insomnia, night terrors/strange dreams, etc. Just keep these things in mind...it's not your imagination. It is the drug. It WILL pass, but it may take awhile. Just ride it out and don't let it get you. You'll be okay, but for me it took about 15 hours after only 3 days of dosing. I feel lucky that I'm so intune with my mind/body. It was a bit scary, but it's just knowing the possible side effects are real and not in your head that will make the biggest difference. This doesn't happen to everyone, and I certainly never thought it would happen to me, but I would rather be deathly I'll than deal with that mind screw and physical pain. Ugh. Terrible drug. I never take conventional meds, and this is why. May the force be with you!

Ohhh, I thought that I was going crazy. My 5th baby was born May 09, and I felt great for just having a baby. I have only had the Mirena since June 09, but thinking back, it has been since then that most of my issues have arisen. I have a constant pressure in my head, sometimes it is a headache, and occasionally it turns into a migraine. I have my period, and then it lags on with spotting for another week and a half, all the while having the cramps, major moodiness, depression, fatigue. I am having low back pains too. I am tired as heck all the time. I am hypothyroid as well, which can cause you to be tired, so I have went and had my thyroid checked 3 times since the baby was born as I was sooo sure it was off because of my fatigue. I have no libido either. My husband thinks all this stuff is excuses and in my head. I have been on the depo in the past for 5 years, but my blood pressure started to raise, and went back to normal after I changed to the copper IUD. I had that removed to try for another baby. But I did very well on the the copper IUD, which had no hormones and is called Para Gard, or something like that. I did still have my period, with some cramping that was slightly more than what I had without the IUD. But I had a libido, I wasn't fatigued or depressed. My doctor was pushing this Mirena, and against my better judgment I agreed. So please remember that there is another IUD, and it is good for 10 years, which maybe why they don't push that one. I am getting ready to get this hell Mirena out and switch back to the copper IUD.

I have just been on Yasmin for a month but had serious doubts from day 1. I have nausea constantly, extreme fatigue (go to bed at 9.30 sleep until 7 am, still knackered), hair loss, listlessness, headaches, incl. a proper migraine attack, blurred vision (just got new specs so should be fine!!!) - in fact very like my 1st trimesters of pregnancy!!! I sooo agree with Shellac above;
"Instead of being "liberated" we, (not the men) become slave to the pill. And then we don't get he freedom or the man. Try organic sex, in the ways God intended, much healthier." I shall go back to using condoms!!!

I am decreasing my topamax meds now after taking it for 6 horrible months..
topamax? rather call it dopamax..
I took 100 mg daily
now i'm building of the topamax I can allready feel the difference..
I hope I become the joyful smart person again I once was before..
I lost weight during this six months, wonder if i'll gain it back.. but don't care. I must get rid of this drug.. I'm so sick and tired of the side effects!!
For me it wasn't a good solution for my migraines
They didn't stop.. the first month i took topamax, my god i could bounce my head against the wall due to the outstanding headaches i got; even worse then my normal migraine seizures..
i'm not gonna look for a replacer for topamax, i'll just take my migraine as i did my whole 22 years long.. That's life and I want MY life back
good luck to you all!!

I'm a 41 year old female in very good health- other than the obvious migraine problem that I have. I have been on topamax for 3 months and am now tapering off of it. I have had all of the side effects that others have experienced to the point that I can't continue taking the medication. My memory is horrible. I can't remember simple things, which is really causing problems at work. My mood is dull and lifeless, and all I want to do is, well, nothing. I'm not a big soda fan anyway, but now it tastes really awful. I noticed that almost immediately. And once in awhile I crave a coke, but can't drink one because it is nasty!!!
I have lost about five pounds, but I don't think I will lose any more since my appetite has returned. That's o.k., because that wasn't my goal anyway. The tingling in the hands, feet and face happens almost daily and feels like little tiny needles being stuck in me. It's actually quite painful sometimes. And, I have noticed blurriness in one of my eyes. This drug has not helped my migraines. We're trying something else. But either way, I would get off of this drug. It's not worth it to me. If you are considering it, I would think twice.

I've been on Topamax for about a month now for daily headaches/migraines with 50mg/day and will be moving up to 100mg/day in the next few weeks. So far I have noticed the tingly hands and the nausea but the worst is the dry lips and how every beverage tastes either flat or odd. The only thing that tastes good is water and I can't get enough of it because I am always thirsty. My urine has turned a bright yellow, which I noticed no one else has reported so I'm a little concerned about that. However the headaches and migraines due seem to be improving so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I just happened to do some research about lisinopril, and happened to stumble into this website. I am 43 years old, newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetics, i also have a history of hypertension and migraine which is under control. my physician just switch my medication from Norvasc to lisinopril, Im already on my 3rd week of taking it, 20mg a day, however, i noticed that i have more frequent headaches, more of a migraine headache that pulsate in one side of my head, i tried taking some over the counter medicine, but with no relief, i went back to see my doctor, and i was given some sumatriptan for the migraine, but at the back of my mind, i already suspected that the lisinopril might have triggered my migraine headaches, i have a relief when i take the sumatriptan, however the migraines keeps coming back. and its been seven days already, i was not able to work one day, because the migraine made me nauseated and vomit. i was doing well with my other medication, and never had migraine like this that last for 7 days up to now.after reading the comments. i have second thought of taking this medication.it seem like it might be the one that triggers my migraine headache. what do you think?

I suffer form migraine headaches as well. The Doctor diagnosed me with a condition called "Cluster Headaches". Meaning they come in clusters. They come for a while a leave for a while. No cure, just try relieve the headache. In the past I took extra strength Goody's (w/Caffeine) or Excedrin Migraine, both with Coca~Cola. Both worked, the Goody's a little better but it is not available in California for some reason. It generally took about 45 or longer to start working, sometimes I was doubling up hoping it would be faster. After waking in the middle of the night for over a week with a throbbing head pain directly behind my eye socket I went to the doctor and was prescribed EPIDRIN 325-65-100 MG. The Doctor said to take it the moment I felt the headache starting. That night when it started I RAN to the bottle and took 2 with water. Within 15 minutes I actually felt the pain stopping. At first the throbbing would "skip a beat", then it would just stop as I laid still. Next thing I knew I was sleep. I have not experienced any side effects and I am on day 3. So I will say Epidrin works, don't be afraid to take it when the pain starts, there is no need to take them beforehand, "In the event" you think you will get the headache.

I have been getting lupron depot injections since my laproscopy back in August and had no trouble the first month except for hot flashes. After the second injection I started to experience migraine type headaches and I would get the shakes really bad through the night almost as if I was coming down with the flu. I just had my third injection and the symptoms are worse. I feel tired, nauseated, body aches, chills through the night and hot flashes all day long. Will my symptoms continue to get worse as I go on? I have two more months of injections and I am contemplating not doing it. My husband and I have a beautiful little girl but really want another child. Is two more months really going to guarantee pregnancy or is it a waste of my time?

I had my Mirena inserted yesterday afternoon during a hysteroscopy. The procedure went fine, and other than some cramping (and bleeding - which I knew would happen), last night I was feeling fine.
I woke up this morning with the absolute worst migraine headache I have ever experienced. I believe the nausea and dry heaving I've been experiencing all day are from this huge headache. So far, I am not impressed with Mirena - I wish I had found this website prior to my surgery. Although I'm not entirely sure at this point whether my migraine is due to the Mirena, or the anesthesia from my surgery. My doctor was VERY high on Mirena, and basically talked me into it. I went to her with the intention of having a robotic-assist hysterectomy. I have three children (and don't want any more), and have severely heavy periods - I get anemic every month. She seemed to indicate that she'd like me to try the Mirena first, and if it doesn't work out, then the hysterectomy. With three small kids, I don't think I can withstand the months and months of side affects that I have read on this site.

I have been on 50mg of Topamax for the 2nd time for about 8 months. This time not near as much weight loss but so many more side effects. I have had 3 kidney infections and just found out I have an ovarian cyst which is now being linked to this medication. It keeps the migraines away but I am not sure if the other pain is worth it, has anyone had any luck with other migraine medications? This had been the best for keeping them away but now I am at a loss as to what to do. A little toe and finger tingling I could handle....cyst that make me double over in pain, NOT SO MUCH!

Just wondering if anyone has experienced sinus congestion (not relieved by antihistamines like Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec) and not having a cold?
I've been slowing working my dose up on Wellbutrin from 75 mg. a day to 100 mg. to avoid side effects. However, I'm experiencing a sharp rise in migraine headaches and this weird nasal congestion. I can't find where anyone has noticed 'nasal congestion' as a side effect.
Dr. today suggested I stop the medication for 1 week and see if these two possible side effects disappear; which I plan to do. I am small and sensitive to all antidepressants and have to go low and slow. 16 years ago there was ONLY Brand name Wellbutrin which is what I took.....75 mg. twice daily and I didn't have any problems. Don't know if I'm reacting to the fillers, dyes and substances in these Generic Wellbutrin by Teva.
Anyone out there that has nasal congestion or Migraines from Wellbutrin??
Thanks. L.

If you experience migraines, and you are like me and never had a headache your entire life. My advice is to call your doctor and have a brain scan.

Hello, I can't help but get into the Mirena conversation. Three months after my son was born, I was put on the Mirena IUD. I had a ton of symptoms. My hair was falling out, tired, weak, headaches, stomach cramps, and just all around felt like crap. I went back to the doctors to have the Mirena removed positive that it was the Mirena that was making me feel like crud. The doctor persuaded me to keep it in longer and after much debate and feeling flustered with the doc I agreed for a couple more months. Well symptoms got ten times worse to the point I called and demanded to be seen right away to have it removed. Well after it was removed, I felt better but not completely. I started losing weight, I had periodic migraines which mind you I never had a migraine in my entire life, and felt like a truck ran over my body every morning when I got out of bed. I went to the doctors and they ran a slew of tests and NOTHING! Well about a month after a car ran a stop sign and crashed into me. I hit my head. IT was the best damn thing ever, I got a cat scan and it showed something on my brain. A MRI picked up a right cerebellum hemangioblastoma about 3cms. I had to have brain surgery to have it removed. They decided to do a full scan and I now currently have a kidney hemangioblastoma. Moral of this story. I am 31 years old, I have always been healthy with no migraines, no ailments, nothing. I have the Mirena put in and I feel like shit and they found a brain and kidney tumor. The estimated both my brain and kidney tumor to be about 2 yrs old. THE EXACT TIME I GOT THE MIRENA IN. Hemangioblastomas are either sporadic of VHL. With sporadic, usually you only get 1 and if you get another its later on down the road and my two tumors would not be the same age so it rules that one out. VHL, I had a genetic test done and it came up negative. So anyone of answers for my mishap. I know the Mirena caused this for me. Im just looking for someone with a similar story

Hello Ladies,
I have had my Mirena in for about three weeks now and have had severe migraines since it was place. My doctor prescribed Migraine medication to resolve the issue and as soon as the medication wears off BAM it’s back again not to mention the heart palpitations I been having as well. I never have had any of these issues before in my life. I called the Dr to have it removed and his nurse went on about how wonderful this IUD is and the expense in which mu insurance company paid for. I explained, that I don’t care what the cost is or was and I cannot function with this headaches and taking medication to mask the problem is not the solution either… This morning I couldn’t even get out of bed because of the pain my husband picked up the phone and called the Dr Office he said either remove the IUD or I’m taking her to the emergency room… Hmmmmmmm….. Low and behold it came out this morning and I’m feeling better already.. Ladies, listen to your bodies and if something doesn’t sit well with you on this IUD then I suggest having it removed. For the bloggers on here that say it’s a God send that’s wonderful and I hope you continue to well with it for those of suffering each and every day it has not been a God send for us. I have to also say I wonder if these bloggers saying it wonderful are from Dr’s offices or the pharmaceutical company itself. Just a thought!!!!!

I am a few days away from my 19th birthday and i've been taking Yasmin since the age of 11. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 11 and Yasmin has been what's keeping my period regular and more or less pain free since then. In May of 2008 i was switched to the generic version of Yasmin called, Ocella and started to notice more and more symptoms and side effects. My stomach pain in the mornings grew greater by the day and when i was on my sugar pill i would gain an unbearable migraine. Thinking it was just part of being a woman i ignored it and went about my life. It wasn't until December of 2008 while out with a group of friends i came into some serious stomach pain. thinking it was just a typical stomach ache that i normally got i ignored it. when i came to be about 4 am and the pain hadn't stopped i started to worry. first thing in the morning i went to the doctor who referred me to get an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that i had gall stones and that i should have my gall bladder removed before more complications were to occur. Being a college student only a week away from returning to my second semester i opted to wait until spring break to have the surgery. During the 3 month wait i experience extreme diarrhea whenever something was put in my mouth, extreme stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, headaches, sore muscles, the list goes on and on i felt like i had been hit by a truck every day and i still had to go to class. in March of 2009 i had my gall bladder removed thinking that the symptoms would finally stop i returned to school only to find that nothing got better. It's been 7 months since my gall bladder has been removed and i'm still having the same symptoms as before and now i've added depression, stress, lack of energy and interest and many other things to the list. I'm still taking Ocella because i've never been advised otherwise but the symptoms are taking over my life. I am a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering at college and it's just become harder and harder to focus on my work or to enjoy the aspects of college that i should be with the frequent trips to the bathroom or having to opt out of a fun activity because of stomach pain. I was wondering if anyone can help me, maybe point me in a direction where i can get better and get back to enjoying what a 19 should be. Thanks.

I have had Mirena for 1 yr and 5 months. The insertion was not painful that I recall, although I have had 4 kids, so I hear that may make a difference.
I loved this IUD for the first 9 months or so, then started noticing things that I didnt know were attributed to Mirena until I started reading about others experiences. Bleeding and spotting were minimal at first, no biggie.
I stopped having my period at all around 6 months...haven't had a period in a year..and had spotting maybe 3 times total. Since about 9 months into Mirena....I have had cystic acne. (which I didnt know existed until mirena) I had never had a blemish on my BACK in my life! Also on my face, around hairline, and in my ears, on my neck, and hard to get rid of. I have noticed little cyst like nodules in my neck and the back of my head, behind my ears, like swollen lymph nodes but they come and go...never noticed this before. Have had a intermittent mysterious sharp pain in my side, like a side stitch, comes and goes, and feel it during sex. No doctors had a clue about it. I have been very tired lately the last 3 months and I am on a stimulant for ADHD, so I should not be tired! (also why I haven't gained weight like others) But most markedly, I have always had a history of migraines, and had auras about 6 times in my life. Normally I would have 3 migraines a month tops.....then after about a year, I would get them several times a week...NOW I HAVE HAD A HEADACHE for 21 days straight, with only about 4-5 headache free days in there. Severe enough that I am taking painkillers and went to the ER, and they did a CAT scan and so nothing. normal. So. What could it be???
I got fed up this morning...after waking up one more day with kids I cant take care of properly or enjoy.....so I took out my IUD all by myself.
Couldn't leave the house to go somewhere with my head throbbing.
Dont want to pay anyone to remove something that has already cost me so much. Just looked at the diagrams, and found the string, pulled gently and viola! It was pretty darn easy! No pain, no discomfort at all. Not a drop of blood yet after 7 hours. Head still hurts but the relief I feel is great. I know I made the right decision to take it out and I wont use a hormonal BC again. I am looking into Essure now.
It works for some people, sure, but don't forget it worked fine for me for almost a year before I realized what harm it was doing to me.
I cant wait to have my skin back and my body back to normal.
Be wary, but it did its job. But I have read hundreds upon hundreds of negative reactions to this. Class action lawsuits getting ready. So be careful,

I had Mirena inserted 6 weeks ago and just had it removed. My medical history includes TIAs (mini-strokes) and migraines. I had a migraine EVERY DAY while I had Mirena. I also experienced ZERO LIBIDO (so what was the point of birth control!?), weight gain and mood swings. I had Paragard inserted a few days ago and I am already slowly returning to normal. My point - if you have had problems with hormones in the past, not only estrogen, but also progesterone, you may want to stay away from Mirena. My OB/GYN argued with me the entire time that there is no way Mirena could cause these symptoms since progesterone is not released in the bloodstream - BULL!!! Women, listen to your body and trust your gut.

Ladies:
I needed to post this warning right away:
I visited my gyno today (was able to get in for an ASAP visit), and she told me to get off of Yasmin IMMEDIATELY when I told her that I have had facial numbness etc.. She was very concerned, and here is why:
I have been experiencing migraine headaches with what are called "auras". I know it sounds weird, but you can look up "migraine auras" and you will find plenty of information.
I know that many of us have had these symptoms and not known what they were- numbness and tingling, visual disturbances, strange smells etc. This is what those symptoms are- migraine auras.
****According to my gyno, if you have auras you need to stop taking Yasmin or any other birth control right away.****
Getting these symptoms and continuing to take the pill, according to my gyno is (and I quote) "ASKING FOR A STROKE". They are warning signs that our bodies send out and it is extremely dangerous to keep taking ANY hormonal birth control, ESPECIALLY the combination pill.
If you had any further doubts, stop now. Please. I am not trying to scare anyone, I am just concerned and wanted to warn those who are experiencing these side effects.
Best of luck to all of you and hugs.
M.

Toprol XL I just started a week ago as the medicals cant get my blood pressure under control. I also take Lisinopril at 40mgs. Was told at 40mgs. of Lisinopril thats the highest dose there is (which I found is a lie from a lady I know when she told me her husband takes lisinopril XL or along those lines). Meantime..on Toprol..I cant figure how to describe it other than..when the medicals decided not to deal with my medical issues and gave me 1st Zoloft then Prozac. I had such bad reactions from them I told the medicals to deal with my medical problems dont blow me off with shrink pills! Meaning...I have the same reaction with Toprol as I did with Zoloft and Prozac...emotional, cant focus or concentrate..cant sit still..I look like crap because I cant sleep more than 5 hours or so...

I have to pee every 2 mins too...Bad enough the pressure from fibroids on the bladder..Medicals say..Dah..they will shrink when you are finally post menopausal. ( I would love to tell that line of BS to the doctors with breast cancer or prostate cancer..see how they like it).
I am trying to give the benefit of the doubt here..give it time and see if these side effects wear off in time...But as it stands...
Between this crap and the migraine medications..IM sick and tired of not being heard/taken seriously by the medical community...Getting so Im all for alternative medicine and just let the medical doctors/FNP-C and specialists kiss my backside..
