Hello:
I just returned from a visit to a Doctor after experiencing sudden and sever swelling of my lips and face. He took one look at me and said it was the Lisinopril. He immediately gave me a hormone injection and another injection whose technical name I cannot recall. He gave me prescriptions for Ranitidine, Prednisone and Diphenhydramine to combat the side effects of the Lisinopril. Like many other users I have been experience a number of the minor side effects of this drug for years and never associated them with Lisinopril. Unfortunately, neither did my physician.

i had the Mirena IUD put a few months ago. It was extremely painful to have it put it, especially since i don't have any children. But my experience is a pretty positive one. The main thing i was concerned about before i got Mirena was weight gain, but to my surprise ive actually lost weight. i do have some negative such as, i notice my hair sheds a bit more but my hair is naturally pretty thick, ive notice breaking out on my back, and i get random cramps that last less then 5 minutes. My periods are another concern as if right now.. there very very light but they last so far about 10 days. Even though i have some minor side effects, I LOVE MIRENA, and i have/having a very positive experience. :)

this post is for dmbfreak, who asked for incidences of positive experiences with wellbutrin. First off, it's really, really important to remember that a site like this is going to have posts ONLY from people who have had bad side effects... who might be only one-half of 1% of all that particular medication's takers, for all you know. People who aren't having side effects aren't even coming on this site...why would they? So these posts are good for enlightening you when you have a side effect and are trying to match it to a medication, or for enlightening you as to what to watch out for, but it does not mean any or all of the side effects are common, and is NOT at ALL good for deciding whether to take or not take a certain medication without trying it yourself.
That said, i got here because i wondered what was causing me to wake up somewhat sweaty on occasion. Turns out that i am taking three different meds that can cause this, including wellbutrin, a blood pressure med, and my birth control pill.
But otherwise, i have been taking Wellbutrin for three years and the benefits have far outweighed minor side effects, which for me have only been the occasional sweats (usually associated with my period, so hormonal component too.. might even have nothing to do with WB) and i can get jittery if i take too much - in my case, 450mg a day is too much. I simply went back to 300mg and was fine. This medication also has some GOOD side effects for me, such as weight loss/control, and it doesn't affect my sexual functions at all... which every other antidepressant i tried did. I had far more severe side effects from other antidepressants, and am very sensitive to drugs in general, so i was very happy to finally find one i could tolerate so well. My doc says people who don't tolerate the SSRIs often do very well on WB, it's a very different formula (and other people who don't do well on WB can do well on SSRIs- it's all individual). He says WB is not usually the top medication choice for my particular issue (PTSD) but it's the one i'll actually TAKE, which does make it the best one for me (any of the others, i'd just stop taking because of side effects).
So folks, don't condemn a particular medication outright based just on anecdotal posting sites like this. This site should be used only by people who are already taking it, having problems, and comparing notes. You can't tell from the posts if the problems are with a very small % of takers or not. Sometimes, you can't even know that a particular individual's problem is actually from the drug being discussed (look only for ones that are repeated among many users). We're all different and react to things differently. If you decide not to take a med based just on anecdotal posts like this, you could do yourself out of what could be a very beneficial med for YOU, and that might well not have any side effects for you at all.
I'm not a doc and definitely not pro-pharmaceutical, and am very critical of the medical establishment in general... but i'm very pro using rationality and perspective when dealing with such things.

I am 20 years old and have been on Yasmin for PCOS/mood swings/irregular periods since I was about 16 or 17. This past December, I was out with friends when I suddenly had this awful, all-over terrible shaky feeling, thinking I was going to pass out, die, or vomit. I had pressure all over and my tongue felt thick in my mouth, lump in throat and had to go home immediately. I thought I was getting some kind of flu. Weird feelings kept continually happening to me every day since then and the symptoms change over time and last for different lengths. I've mostly experienced tightness/strain/pressure in my throat, lump of pressure caught there, almost numb pressure sensation under my tongue, jaw, and up into my ears, an ache/pressure in chest and sternum. I stopped taking Yasmin, switched to Aviane which made me nauseous constantly and have been off BC over a month now. I have been told it's anxiety constantly by two different doctors, gone to ER, had blood work, thyroid checked, ENT stuck scope down my throat, everything. I was given Klonopin which never seemed to do anything to me, was given meds for acid reflux which did nothing. Even after getting off BC my emotions have also gone haywire and I feel at an all-time low and this is ruining my life and my relationship with my boyfriend. I finally gave in and tried Xanax. The first two times I've taken it, I felt great for the rest of the evening and slept well. Today was the third day and I felt fine for about two or three hours and the pressure in my throat and under my jaw is back again. Does anyone think this could be anxiety or something else, or does it truly seem to be Yasmin?? I'm at my wits end and would like to go back on the pill for my emotions/periods if possible but I'm so afraid in case that caused my problems. I feel helpless and always in pain and discomfort.

Looking for help (please). I took Levaquin a month ago and had minor side effects in the beginning. Just two weeks ago I started experiencing pain in my knees. If anyone else experienced pain in their knees could you please let me know how long it lasted for. Also, if you have any advice on dealing with the day-to-day pain until it as a way it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was prescribed Leavaquin for pneumonia - 500mgs for 5 days. Have taken it in the past for pneumonia with no observable side effect except the dry mouth. However, this time, I have nausea, diarrhea, excruciating pains in my feet going up to both knees, (despite using lidocaine patches for neuropathy) insomnia, headache, stuffed up nose 3 hours after ingesting it. Additionally, I feel "down", lethargic, lack of clarity in thinking. I am stopping the Levaquin today, the last day. Thanks be to God for this website. I can see that others are suffering the same side effects.

My 11 year old daughter had been seen by a doctor to control coughing and wheezing brought on, I believe, by allergies. When she was 5 or 6 years old, she had an asthma attack and it happened again this year when we could not control the coughing and she was short of breath. That is when Singulair was introduced to her. about 4 weeks after taking medication, her heart started beating irregularly (called heart palpitations), and she was experiencing chest pains. (very frightening for mother and daughter). The Coughing subsided, and she was feeling good prior to the last week, when this started happening. After all the researching, the minor side effect is palpitations, however, how healthy is this and what else is going to pop up unexpectedly?

I am 59 years old Asian male and have gone through six angioplasty and have seven stents in all three arteries in the year 02-03. No heart attack so far. I am taking 10 mg of Lipitor and can not tolerate 20 mg or higher strength because pain in the knee, thigh and leg increases. I tried to reduce my cholesterol by changing food, weight reduction and 40 minutes of tread mill at 5 mph, 5 days a week. I did not get the desired results i.e. keeping LDL below 70.
Since liver makes 80 % of cholesterol, I have to take 10 mg of Lipitor and tolerate the minor side effects. With change in diet, exercise, weight reduction, and 10 mg of Lipitor, I am able to reduce my total cholesterol from 247 to 116, LDL from 164 to 62 and increase HDL from 32 to 42.

I only took one doxycycline and experienced my bottom lip breaking out, hearburn, itching of the skin, and yeast infection. Luckily I noticed the side effects with just one pill and did not take anymore. This morning the yeast infection is itching like crazy and I still feel like I have something hung in my throat and a heaviness in my chest. I hope that these side effects go away soon. I will be calling my doctor this morning when his office opens.

I am very susceptible to side effects from medication but I have never experienced any serious, or even minor, side effects from Levaquin. This is the 2nd time I've been prescribed this medication and I'm satisfied with the results. I take 500 mg once a day. Maybe the people experiencing these side effects are prescribed a dose that is too high for the body to handle. Doctor's like to over-medicate. Make sure the dose is appropriate for your body type.

I took Accutane four years ago and was on it for about 6 months. My skin still looks good. I had minor side effects like extremely chaped lips and very dry skin. It helps if you use vaseline. I was pretty moody too, but that could have been from the birthcontrol they made me take. Overall I am glad I took it. Beware, there are extreme side effects. Some of my friends didn't have as positive of an experience.

This is absoultely the worst case of mis-understood or incorrectly assed drugs I have ever seen. I have been looking for something to help with my athsma and allergies. I heard Singulair was being used not only for athsma prevention but for allergies too.

The label says "very minor side effects", something to the affect of very low incidents of insomnia, upset stomach, etc etc.

This drug needs to be re-evaluated. I'm home sick from taking this stuff after 3 days.

Last night I slept very poorly, had SEVERE nightmares to the point of waking up kicking and screaming. I almost punched my wife because I had a dream I was being attacked. I HAVE NEVER encountered such bad side effects from somtehing the label indicated relatively low side effects.

I am having dizziness today, lack of sleep, very painful and upset stomach and other issues.

I'm of the opinion that there IS NO allergy medicine that has lesser symptoms than the allergies them selves. This was a horrilbe experience and after reading about parents giving this to their children it makes me very upset.

How can a child explain they side effects I am experiencing?

I wouldnt give this stuff to my dog.

This is my personal experience and personal opinion. Take it for what its worth.

Dave

I switched to Yasmin recently due to minor side effects caused by my previous BCP: Ortho Novum 777 (weight gain, acne, decreased sex drive, excess hair). I've been on Yasmin for 3 weeks now, and so far, no side effects. I've lost a little weight (mostly water), my skin has cleared up completely, and my sex drive is back to normal. So to those that are alarmed by the horrible side-effects listed on this website, don't panic because Yasmin can work wonders for some of us.

Hi my name is Anna and my brother has just started Celexa he is 27years old. He said he is feeling the best ever with minor side effects. I was reading through the side effects information and began wondering about the effect that it has on sexual functioning for males. If you have been experiencing any side-effects could you please include your age as well as any other medication that you started taking in replace of celexa. Thank you so much all of the information is extremlly helpful. Anna

While on Accutane, I experienced some minor side effects. My skin was very dry and sensitive. My lips constantly felt chapped. My eyes became very sensitive to sunlight, and I had a few slight headaches. I never experienced any unsual changes in mood or attitude, and I never experienced any cramping or nausea.
