I had minor surgery the 12th and took my first doxycycline hyclate that evening. Then the morning of the 13th I was able to go to work. I took my second does and that was all it took. My face got very pale except for rosy checks that felt feverish but I had no fever. Very disoriented, unable to focus, dizzy, like a dream state, no appetite, severe heartburn (even with just water), itchiness all over. Mostly my head though. Went right to doctor who checked me out and told me to stop it immediately. I did and went home to bed. I feel better today and am back at work but....my vision is blurry!!!! I have reading glasses that I just got about a month ago and only used them for reading and small print at work. I am sitting here at work and can't see well enough with out them to take them off.

Hi,
I took BCPs continuously for over 10 years (I'm 36 now), with last 6 or 7 years on Yasmin. I felt great while on it, but there were I few changes in my health that prompted me to stop the Pill.
a) I developed high cholesterol and triglycerides. I am a runner and a healthy eater (mostly vegetarian, fats limited to olive oil); I check my blood lipids every year. Given my lifestyle, the doctors had the only remaining explanation that is must run in my family - but no, this is not a hereditary condition in my case. I did some online research and found out other women whose cholesterol and lipids shot up while on Yasmin or other BCP.
b) After many years of perfectly normal Pap smears, I developed first mild and then moderate cervical dysplasia. I underwent LEEP, which is a minor surgery to remove the diseased tissue, which went well, but the condition returned within several months. And now I've been referred to see an oncologist.
While the cholesterol -BCP link is a speculation at this point, the BCP link to cervical cancer is a well-known fact. My advice to those who consider getting on the pill: do it if you absolutely have to, but get off after 3-5 years, don't wait for 10 years to find out what it did to your health.

I had taken Jolessa for about a month and I went in to have a minor surgery like 30 minute surgery, 8 days after my surgery I was suddenly waken @ 5am with the worst pain in my chest went to ER and ended up having multiple blood clots(PE) in my lungs, was near death, and felt that way too! I and doctor believe that Jolessa had a lot to do with this. So please beware of this, I'm only 32 yrs old, and have to be on blood thinners for at least 6 months to a year, and worry daily about my life!
I too had lots of headaches, and was moody!

Ive been taking yaz for almost a year. I stopped taking the pill two days ago. I am currently on a heart monitor due to anxiety/panic attacks. I felt anxiety feelings soon after taking Yaz but it was not bad enough to stop. Now it is BAD! I am (was) very healthy (mentally and physically) and happy, and have never experienced anxiety until yaz. I also have a painful lump in my lower back. I have had a MRI which showed mild disc bulge. I felt the lump in April 2008, it is now 11/2008 and it is still there. I wake up stiff and in pain. Doc thinks its a muscle issue. I"m starting to think it is the Yaz. I also have had no sex drive, very dry and painful sex. Yeast infections and bacteria infection which I have never had. I cannot sleep. I am struggeling every day to be normal. I feel totaly out of control. I do not recommend Yaz. I cannot wait to be me again!

Let me just tell you how much I feel better after reading this. I swear I thought I was losing it. My husband was the one that pinpointed my overnight changes started in July/August. I suffered from extreme hemorrhaging and my doctor prescribed Nuvaring as a last resort before opting for minor surgery (Novasure). I HATE IT! I snap at everything. I cry for everything. I can't sleep at night, nightmares and my mind just won't stop going, going, going. I could sleep all day and still feel tired. I'm a stress case, both at home and at work. The severe cramping that makes me want to roll into a ball. I'm a wreck. My poor kids are stuck at home because I don't feel like changing out of my pajamas. My sex drive is virtually non-existent. Trying to explain what's happening to your husband who doesn't understand at all what i'm going through is difficult and I feel so bad for him having to deal with me. I'm 29 years old and have tried my fair share of birth control but NEVER have I experienced the side effects that Nuvaring has given me. And the gross discharge, not smelly, but definitely nasty. I haven't experienced the nausea but I'm calling my doctor to get me off this crap. Right now the option for surgery doesn't sound half as bad as this.

I have been on Cephalexin for 7 days. I am getting headaches that don't go away after taking Tylenol (I took 4 Tylenol this morning within 2 hours because headache was so bad and Tylenol did not help) and I am beyond tired- I am a normally very high energy person and for the past 2 days I literally can not keep my eyes open. Today at 12 noon I had to give in and take a nap (which I never do!) and woke up 4 hours later. Upon waking I could go back to sleep and sleep 12 more hours. I am considering stopping this med. I am taking it for a minor surgery that I had last week but I am exhausted!

I had a minor surgery done and they stealthily injected Versed. I was not anxious in the slightest bit until they gave me this poison. Since then I have had SEVERE anxiety and panic attacks. While I did not have amnesia until after they had given me 7 mls. (an overdose) along with Propofol and other drugs, I was completely compliant with whatever they told me to do, against my will. I endured their nasty comments about me and was unable to defend myself, being almost paralyzed by Versed. It was a nightmare! My anxiety level has still not returned to normal after almost 2 years. This is a very bad drug.

I took Meprozine after minor surgery. I became disoriented and confused (sorted the mail and then threw it all away including 2 checks, among other wierd behavior) I was talking with my granddaughter and suddenly she disappeared (she never was there, I was hallucinating) My speech was slurred and rambling. It was a horrifying experience that still haunts me weeks later.

My wife died from the effects of Mivacron during minor surgery to have a pin removed from her arm. The Mivacron caused paralysis for several hours after the surgery. A few days later she developed an unknown hepatitus. Then her liver failed and a few days later (on Christmas 2005) she was brain dead. The Dr.'s took her off life support on New Years Eve.

The death certificate lists the causes of death as
1. Acute Liver Failure
2. Hepatic Encephalopathy
3. Probable Reaction To Anesthetic Agent (Mivacron)

Still haven't got a complete pathology report. Pathologist indicates cause of death as "chronic liver failure".

She was 60 years old, in very good health. non-smoker and didn't use alcohol.

If anyone has had anything similiar happen please email me

I took Levaquin for five days in early April as a preventative after minor surgery. I had been prescribed a 7 day course, but stopped after I suspected the side effects were from the Levaquin. It all began with a low grade fever, then extreme anxiety, mental confusion, depression, intestinal gas, loss of appetite, weakness, sweating, heart palpitations, and scariest of all, central nervous system disturbances, strange currents in my left arm and leg, twitches, shaking, jitters and vision problems. I was the most scared I have ever been in my life. I went to my GP and he told me it was "self-perpetuated" because the half life of the drug had passed and the effects should have subsided quickly. (But he was surprised to see my liver enzymes were elevated even after the drug was supposed to have left my body...hmmm.) Well, I was in pure hell for almost three weeks after stopping the drug, desperately wanting to get better, but it had a grip on me that only someone who has experienced it can understand.
I went to a psychiatrist and a neurologist. Both told me it could have something to do with the GABA receptors in the brain. My biggest fear was that it had caused permanent harm. Well, I'm happy to report that now a month and a half later, I feel like myself again. It was a gradual improvement, but it finally subsided at the end of the third week.
I just wanted to share my story in case there is someone who is as worried as I was a month ago, seeking comfort in this forum. (There is not much comfort, I know.) But although everyone is different and the side-effects run the gamut, at least it seems to go away in time for most people. Of course I'm not completely sure that there was no permanent damage...but I feel pretty confident that my body got rid of this poison. My liver enzymes went back to normal as well.
I feel each of us must report everything Levaquin has done to us to Medwatch (the FDA), to our doctors (although they will probably doubt you), and to anyone you care about in case they are ever given this over-prescribed time-bomb. Levaquin is a life saving drug, but it should only be prescribed for people in dire need. It is being marketed to doctors as a preventative and for minor infections, and that is where the real problem is. Ortho-McNeil knows more than they tell the doctors, I'm convinced. There are just too many of us. Imagine all the people who never figure out that the Levaquin caused thier ailments! Or they believe thier doctors who say "It's all in your head."
I hope my story has been of help...and to all who suffer...hang in there. It takes time, but chances are it WILL go away.

Prescribed Levaquin as an anti-infective following minor surgery for a soft tissue infection, my 79-year-old Mother began experiencing supressed panis attacks, acute nervousness, dizziness and nausea, within 3 hours of her first 500mg dose.
