I've been taking Relpax for migraines for over a year. I really is a miracle cure for me. I still wake up with headaches but they aren't migraines. I tried taking Imitrex but it was like taking sugar pills. I've wondered about Fioricet since it was given to me when I went to the ER with a major migraine. K.

My doctor prescribed lamictal after I reported hypomanic symptoms from prozac. The first couple of days on lamictal I thought it was the miracle drug; it really eliminated my mood swings. But as the days progressed, I began to have the following disturbing side effects:
- terrible insomnia (waking in the middle of the night and can't go back)
- horrifying violent dreams (of animals and people being hacked to death with machetes... interestingly, I reported this to my doctor and her response was, that just means your brain is adjusting to the chemicals...easy for her to say, she's not waking up with terrible memories of these disturbing dreams)
- weird pains and stiffness in my neck with swollen lymph nodes in the neck
- increase in anxiety and feelings of panic
- increase in feelings of anger and agitation
- feeling of detachment
- thoughts of suicide and the meaninglessness of life
- carbohydrate cravings and weight gain of nearly 4 pounds in 2 WEEKS!!
(weight had previously been stable for years)
These symptoms all appeared after taking the lamictal after only 2 weeks. Even though my doctor recommended actually INCREASING the dose of lamictal and/or adding prozac, I decided to wean off the lamictal (I was on the smallest dose of 25 mg) as an experiment to see if the symptoms would go away...
YES they did!! Every single one of them went away and were COMPLETELY gone after the second day of discontinuing the lamictal.
I know that this medication is being touted as the new miracle cure for bipolar II especially, but I think more clinical studies need to be done on lamictal. This experience was a very scary one and not unlike that reported by others on this site.

I have been taking this since October of last year. not only is it my complete miracle cure, but the side affects vanished long ago. For people who have suffered as long as I can, I'll take some queasiness, horniness, and blurry vision over wanting to die DAILY any time. I love it. Love it love it love it.
Incidentally, I lost my job a few months back and stopped taking it and IMMEDIATELY went back to the worst I ever felt mentally. if you are taking this and would like to stop (or need to cause of lack of ins.) talk to your doctor. My experience with the immediate lack of mood control was awful.

been on 20mg Omeprazole for well over a year & when i think back, i regularly have had a very bad rash round groin & armpits. Same doc prescribed steroid cream which kept it in check only. No mention that both only for short term use, I,ve just found that out on this & other Omeprazole websites! 3 weeks ago on Wed. night had normal itch on bum, scratched it, very sore, & carried on.By Sun am. I was at walk in center covered almost head to foot in large blotchy red rash unbearably itchy. After 2 duff diagnoses another GP at my practice took me off Omaprezole without really pointing the finger. The rash & itching have almost gone now after 2 weeks so he knew ok. Can only speak 4 myself but have very little faith in GPs & chemicals now. Someone on this site says try teaspoon Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar after meals which ties in with hints on " Miracle Cure 4 a Fee" sites elsewhere. Here,s hoping! Will update.

I was given 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days for a rash and joint pain.
The pain went away and I felt great the rash got a little better. Two days ago I took my last pill. I woke up that night and my knees gave out. By morning I was great! Next night I woke with knee problem again had to slide down the stairs to the living room. I got to wondering if the knee thing could be associated with the Prednisone. I got on line and read all this terrible stuff. I am so Horrified! Today I am in pain like my body is bruised and my face is swollen a little. I have acid reflux as well. Non of this is typical for me. My knee thing is ok again, but I am just appalled! I have no MED insurance. I hope this isn't the beginning of worse things I am not taking that drug now. The Dr. didn't say I needed to taper...
I hope I have not damaged myself by taking this drug! My heart goes out to all of you! My question is - Why are the Dr.'s prescribing this terrible drug?

Okay....Sorry ladies, I'm Hi-Jacking your women's only postings on Mirena for one second.
My daughter just e-mailed me a few minutes ago to tell me that she was considering having this Mirena inserted to try and help her with her very bad menstrual cramps that she has had for years. The Doctors, and there have been many, haven't been able to figure out WHY she's had so much pain over the years during her period. Then she talks to this lady that said she had the Mirena inserted recently, and it had helped her with her endometriosis. Which is what we think is wrong with my daughter. She has all of the symptoms of endometriosis, along with all of the menstrual problems as well.
But me, being a concerned Father, I always do research on everything before I try it or buy it. Or if any of the members of my family that are interested in trying or buying anything, i do the research. The internet is a Godsend for that purpose alone!
However, after reading all of these posting from you ladies willing to share all of the side effects that y'all have experienced, I'm going to suggest to my precious daughter, that keep searching for her miracle cure and not have this Mirena inserted. She's got enough problems without the problems that this Mirena seems to be causing for most of you.
Much Thanks to all of your ladies that have shared your problems that have resulted from this Mirena!
Blessings to you all!

In June I found out I had actue renal failure. One of the many medications I was given was prednisone. After a few weeks I grew so weak, tired and in a lot of pain. I even had to take a medical leave from work(4 months).
I was told to expect the moon face, hunchback, the acne..However, my sypmptoms worsened to point I didn't want to eat(lost 30 lbs) could hardly move and had to be hospitalized(almost went on dialysis). They flushed me out for a week at the hospital and avoided dialysis.
Once out of the hospital I proceeded to keep the weight off, but the side effects just mounted. I had thrush in the mouth(the worst feeling), sleeplessness, I had every side effect listed and I mean all with the exception of hallucinations and depression. The miracle was that what I was expecting weight gain, moon face did not happen.
Around September my doctor started weaning me off prednisone b/c I told him I cant take it anymore. Wouldn't you know it the minute I started getting weaned off the medication I got the moon face and acne. I cant beleive how much acne I have and the moon face and extra chin that came along with it are not cute. In 3 days I gained 10lbs and feel like I'm gainiing everyday. This might bring on the depression that has yet to occur. Why is this happening now that I'm being weaned. I started at 80mg a day and now I'm down to 30mg and next week down to 20mg.
I know this drug did its job and I pray that I dont have to be on it at all once the weaning process is over, but this is hell. I really feel doctors should tell you everything that you can expect. I didnt know enough about this drug(I know there is the internet I should have used it) and had I known then what I know now I seriously might have asked for some alternatives. This drug may be a miracle in the medical community, but for those of us who have to take it, its hell. Does anyone know how long it will take for the moon face, acne, and weight gain to go away?

I have been on prednisone for almost 7 years &, while I have experienced all of the symptoms possible, I realize that without it I wouldn't be alive. I am on several other medications, some not allegedly compatible with prednisone, but necessary to my continued health. I would give up all my meds except prednisone, even if a miracle cure was found for my condition.

After living with asthma and relying on a rescue inhaler for 28 years, I was prescribed advair 500/50 and it has changed my life. I have not used my rescue inhaler since. It is like a miracle cure. I know its not a cure but it really works great. Do you know what it feels like to leave the house without panicking because I couldn't find my rescue inhaler?

Hi,My biggest side effects are the hair loss, limb swelling, insomnia, halucinations(unless my dead dog really is a ghost),memory loss, numbness in legs and arms, tingling in arms and hands expecially when I cough or sneeze, sinus stuffiness and infections and cronic bronchitis.Allthough I have these side effects I personally think that I am better off taking the singulair for my asthma(does not help my allergy symptoms at all) than when I was on all the allergy meds and streoids.I used to have a bag load of those and I was allways having attacks, was depressed and thought of suicide but then I did the study for singulair about 15 years ago and thought it was a miracle cure so I waited for it to come out on the market.I know it is not a miracle cure but I don't have to take those other meds anymore and I only use my fast acting inhailer mabee once a month now.I am now 6 months pregnant and will be looking for an alternative treatment from a hollistic/natural Dr. after I have the baby. There has got to be a better way to control this disease,I hope, naturally through diet and other remadies with less or no side effects to treat my allergies and asthma. If anyone knows of such tratments, please post it.Thanks.LR

I am reposting because I believe this to be strange and know it is from Yasmin. Now, i started this because i knew from many experiences from others that it was beneficial for those who have acne and everything else fails to cure their acne
i was also using it for obvious birth control method. Well. after the first 2 wks i did notice a positive change in my skin (even though it was not this "miracle cure" and i still have awful "bump" break out on side of face looking like scar). Anyway, few days before the 1st pack was done, i had extremely painful almost uti/yeast infection symptoms. like, very very dry and painful! anyway, the starting of pack 2 resulted in nightly vaginal dryness symptoms, irritation to the point where its uncomfortable. last night, intercourse with my husband was unbearable and ridiculously painful to the point where i knew i had to get off yasmin and it makes sense this is why i am thisway. i do not know if there is any other b.c that is good. it seems as if this is very very unnatural for the woman's body and almost as if we shouldnt even be on it and should try natural methods. any one else having this problem??

I have had several kenalog injectins in my lumbar/cervical spine.after the last one I informed my pain mgt Dr. that I do not want anymore as they cause me to swell all over..I have trouble sleeping and my pain worsens and my stomach burns non stop..I suffer mood swings and hair loss..so he agreed no more injections...I was sent out to a different Dr for my ankle...and without telling me at first that it was kenalog gave me an injection..I told him my body response badly to the drug...well after the shot I have blown up again...my stomach is burning i havent had to shave my legs in 2 weeks..and the pains is twice as bad in my ankle...trust me it is a very very bad drug for me...I also have a pain in the area of my kidney that has been there since the day after the last injection..I think to many Practisioners look at this drug like a miracle cure for pain...I will never let anybody give me this drug again

My Dad is receiving Kenalog -10 injections into his mouth to help him with the effects of oral cancer treatment, he had SCC2 in the right side of his cheek, the IMRT radiation therapy, plus boost treatments, and brachy therapy did an effective job of treating the cancer, but he had problems eating, problems with saliva, etc.., the injections have been a miracle cure for him, he can now eat and drink without pain, but immediately I noticed his skin was dimply and caved in, I had no idea what medication they were injecting until today, and now I know that I was correct in my observation. He will continue to receive the injections every 6 weeks. I don't have the heart to tell him that the dimpling and caving in of his skin is from the medicine that is making it possible for him to enjoy eating and drinking again. But I sure am glad to have my suspicions confirmed. Thank you for this web site.

I dont know what you people are talking about. First off, this isnt a miracle cure for acne, its just birth control. I think that yasmine is wonderful. Yes i have some headaches from time to time, but nothing major. Other than that, i am losing weight, getting bigger boobs, and my libido has drastically gone up

I've been on Effexor XR for a few weeks now for GAD and depression after being on Prozac for two years on and off. I dont know if its helping me or making me worse, its reduced my anxiety quite a bit, but I think its making my depression worse. I dont really know what it is, but a week after i started taking it I've started crying quite a bit. Previously I rarely cried because i felt so distant from my emotions, but now I seem to be feeling worse. The thing is I dont know if this is an improvement because I can actually feel something or if its worse because all i seem to be feeling is miserable. I cant seem to enjoy anything at all and I've lost most of my motivation since i started Effexor. I've noticed that I've become rather snappy and rude to people - this is not like me at all. I've lost all my enthusiasm for life (not that there was much to begin with) and it seems like theres nothing to look forward to. I seem to be thinking about suicide more than when i wasnt on it. I've never slept properly but now I keep on semi waking up during the night all the time. I know that its possible that my depression may have been getting worse regardless of the Effexor but i seriously think the two are related. But what worries me the most and is making me feel terrible is that Ive seen effexor advertised as an antidepressant 'for treatment resistant depression' - kinda makes me wonder that if its doing nothing good to me then what hope do i have? no wonder people are killing themselves on antidepressants - theyre advertised as some miracle cure and when they dont work then what are people supposed to do? im beginning to think more and more that im not depressed but i just have a pathetic personality that makes me sluggish and bored. feels like Effexor not working seems to confirm that.

Apparently Mirena was to be the miracle cure to my heavy periods. I must admit after an extremely painful insert of this prick of a thing it has worked as far as my heavy periods go however i am now an overweight pimply grumpy old woman. I have had a skin rash that no one can explain and have been on antibiotics for the last 6 months along with steroid creams to try and get rid of it. I have severe acne on my back, itchy bumps on my arms and legs and my hands have almost blistered with rash. I have put on about 8 klo for no real reason and i feel depressed for no reason. I am either constipated or have the runs depends on the day. I am grumpier than normal and so so so so tired all the time. I put it down to turning 40 but had a brain storm today and found this site. Thank you to all the women who have shared their stories... The answer to all my problems is just around the corner.. I am making an appointment to get this thing out of me tomorrow. I am really looking forward to enjoying turning 40... after all thats when it all begins...
