I lterally just starting taking Yasmin today. I used to take Tri-phasil, but found it just wasn't keeping my mood in check over the last 6 months, not to mention I was suddenly getting 2 periods a month. So, I stopped taking the pill for a month, and after seeiong ads for YAZ ended up with Yasmine after visiting my Dr.
My questions for the ladies with symptoms of anxiety and mood swings: Did you not have these symptoms before starting the pill? If so, are you saying that Yasmin made them worse?
Also, I would be curious to find lout what BC pills you NOW use, and how the hormone dose compares to Yasmin. The Tri-phasil I used to take was stronger than Yasmin. If I begin to feel any side effects using Yasmin, I will have to assume that I just need something stronger and will begin with Tri Phasil again.

I am so happy to have found this site! I thought I was losing it!

I had taken Prednisone two years ago when I had pneumonia that would not go away, and realize now that a lot of the problems I had during my two months of sickness were due to this drug. I do not remember how long I had taken it back then. I could not do any work and what little I attempted, I kept making mistakes that seemed right to me. For example, I had started to address Christmas cards and put all the stamps on the wrong side where the return address goes. When my husband came home, he pointed out what I had done. I had finished a big batch of them and it had never occurred to me that the stamps were on the wrong side. I cried for no reason and had weird mood swings constantly - don't remember how I slept. I was taking so many medications and it was a busy time of year for me that I thought my problems were due to the combination of all. I now know differently, which brings me to today.

I am on my 5th day of a 7 day dose (30mg first 2 days, 20mg thereafter) to relieve inflammation from a persistent cough due to sinusitis that started Dec. 27th. I have numerous symptoms! The worst being the mood swings, confusion & lack of sleep (averaging 3 hours a night). I thought I was going crazy. The side-effects surfaced pretty quickly. I had a rush project due today that I had started last Sunday. I am usually pretty good working under pressure and deadlines - not perfect, but pretty good, and there was enough time to finish all assigned to me. It took me forever to finish simple tasks and I made some mistakes that I never would have. This was a first time working with some colleagues who all must think I am a nut who cannot produce. I had a weird meltdown in front of the team leader and was totally not myself. My husband has been so worried about my erratic behavior that he refuses to let me drive. He dropped me off at an appointment and upon his return home found our front door wide open. I had walked out the door without closing or locking it. Now, granted I have been sick and am under stress, but I have never had the mood swings or lack of focus that I have experienced in the past few days except for the time I had taken the drug earlier. I was prompted to do a search on prednisone when I realized the similarity in symptoms. When I found this site, all the symptoms I had been experiencing and discussing with my husband were right here - I cried twice while watching Top Chef on TV Wednesday. Along with symptoms mentioned, I have a strange feeling in my stomach, numbness and I have a loss of appetite rather than hunger. Anyone else find that? I just looked at the clock and found that it took me over an hour to write this post. Thank God for spell-check!

All the posts are extremely helpful! I really feel for those of you who need to take it for long periods of time. I hope they find alternatives for you soon.

I'm posting this for nikieis, who's husband has been having problems with the Sulfameth. The Doctor and the Walgreens Pharmacist that you spoke to made a mistake, rare side effects of Sulfameth are cold sores, persistent sore throat and fever. I'm surprised that the Walgreens Pharmacist made such a mistake because they usually are so efficient, and if a patient complains about a symptom they will look up in their computer to see the possible side effects - both common and rare. If you still have the Walgreens pick-up slip, it will have a drawing of the drug as well as a description so that there are no possible mistakes. Also, on the pick-up slip is a list which describes the drug, what its for, how to use the medicine, cautions, possible side effect, rare side effect and effect to contact you Doctor immediately for. I would also think that if the information is on the packing slip, that the Walgreens website would have all the possible side effects and cautions. so Patients can look them up if they want to be informed about the medication.
I hope that your husband has recovered and is feeling better.

I took my last Lupron shot in Oct. 2005. While on it I guess I had a mental breakdown. Had to go on anxiety and depression meds. I even had suicidal thoughts. Well when I started my first cycle after the shots I went on fertility pills and had to stop my other meds. Well now 5 months later the panic attacks, severe anxiety and depression is back. I can't even stand myself. I go to the doctor in 3 days which seems like forever to me. I don't want to go to the hospital because I am afraid they will keep me. To top it all off I have been making mistakes at work and am on the verge of losing my job. My fiance doesn't understand it anymore and says "it is all in your head". ANY ADVICE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@twogirlsmum:

I'm very relieved to hear that you're not goin to take Mirena, because I really read of so many women suffering in a very similar way as we all do here from Yasmin...

<<<>>

Well, I had that feelings, too. Not in the tops of my arms, but in my feet and fingertips. Most of the time just ONE finger or one little point at my feet or such. Felt just like someone had dropped a little bit of warm water on it for a second... VEry strange feeling which always made me look at my finger or foot to reassure myself, that there isn't anything on it, that could have caused that warm feelings... Seems to be another nice Yasmin symptom...

Girls, better times are ahead. I'm so glad to see, that every day more and more women come around here and are finally able to put 2 and 2 together and get off that Yasmin poison as fast as possible!! well, not glad to hear, that most of you are going through the same or similar torture as many of us... But glad to see, that they all finally have a solution for their health problems and see a light at the end of the tunnel!!

I really thank god for this and other sites in the www helping us that way where doctors don't seem to be able to do anything for us, but tell us, that it's all just us!!! Here they could find so much evidence of their mistakes...

Greetings to all of you out there, especially chrissy, lisa,
and every other woman here, that is finally guiding others here on their way after being very anxious about the future and not believing that there will be better times after Yasmin!! :) I think of you all every day and pray for you!!

Big hugs go out to everyone!!

Silke

(MEMORY LOSS) I have been on Wellbutrin for close to a year starting with a low dosage-now at 450mg a day. I am not feeling the low dips of depression nor has it elevated me to a normal level of hapiness-minimally at best just functioning. I cannot remember certain things at work in which I should-short term and longer term. This is certainly a problem along with diminished concentration levels leading to mistakes in a job that is highly detailed.

Does every body or some also believe that there are definate side effects of memory loss? ******

I Had been taking Yasmin for 6 months and have been off of the pill for 1 month now. 2 months ago I started to get real bad chest pains. I now have to go to the doctor to see if I have some kind of heart problem. I got on this pill because the patch give me acne really bad. As far as the acne happening on Yasmin. It wasn't that bad, but I still would get bumps on my face where I never would get bumps before. I would be confused all the time making mistakes I'd never made before. I was depressed. I could cry at a drop of a dime. I just stop taking birth control pills all around because I'd rather have a baby then die trying not too!

My doctor just prescribed Zocor to me on 12/22/04. He did not even check my cholestrol. I'm a diabetetic. My sugar has been around 400. I went 2 weeks without meds. My doctor would not prescribe me with any meds, since I had to rescedule an appointment to see him. I was reading some of these complaints about Zocor, and I was shocked. A lot of the complainees, are on 20 mg or less. My doctor has me doing 40 mg. I only took it once. I think I will learn from you folks' mistakes. I'm starting to think I may have a quack for a doctor. He misdiagnosed me, when I had lymphoma. When I had sensations of being choked and pressure in my head, he said it was allergies. 6 months later, I complained again about the same simtoms, he said it was asthma. I was forced to go to the hospital, when I almost passed out while driving my truck. After a 10 hour visit at the emergency room and numorous tests, I was found to have a tumor the size of a baseball next to my heart. The tumor was pushing on my wind pipe and the major artery that supplies blood to the right side of my body. I was stage 4. As for side effects of Zocor, I'm going to hold off on using Zocor, so I don't get any.

Taken Lipitor for 4 years, 20mg.
Along with the muscular pains I've noticed an attitude change in my work. I am a self employed engineer, and attention to detail is essential. Nowadays, I can hardly be bothered to chase up a job, especially if it involves travel. I make mistakes more often (like connectiong 240VAC to a 24VDC device!) and I lose my temper more easily.

Been off the tablets for 2 days due to a mistake in ordering my repeat. I actually feel slightly more human in that short time! Problem is I dare not stop taking them.

On the physical side, if I remain in a position for any length of time, I have to carefully un-knot myself when I move, or the pain is horrible.

Great eh?

I have just started taking Lisinopril 20mg (for 5 days now). The changes to my body are incredibly noticable. The effects I have observed are:

1) Feeling of being slightly "stoned" all the time. This is quite unnerving as I have noticed that my work has suffered due to me making lots of typing mistakes and other 'minor' things such as reactions to other poeple's comments. I'm sure my blood pressure is down due to the sluggish feeling I have. Exactly the same post-marijuana lethargy (am I alowed to mention that here ? - I am not a user but have tried it in the past).

2) Erectional dysfunction. Basically Erections subside very quicky which is far from normal for me.

3) a small dry cough.

I'm taking myself off these meds. since the effects are too pronounced. I was taking them to see if it could "improve" the quality of my life not "sedate" it.

The issues I'm going to raise with my doctor on monday are ,"Are we treating the sympton and not the cause of high BP".

I am so glad I decided to check out side effects for Lipitor. I was on Lipitor for the past 5 years at the 10mg dose. I could not tell of any side effects. But recently, my work performance was going down, I was always a top performer. I could not remember things that happened they made reference to at work.I also saw mistakes, and did not correct them and wondered why things did now work right. Also I have experienced loss of short term memory, my face is swelled up and I was already losing hair, but now I think the Lipitor maybe responsible for the majority of the loss. My stomach is always churning and making noises.

Hi!
I wrote the message regarding my husband. I am writing from Europe, Belgium so sorry for the mistakes.
I thank you for the information you gave me.
My husband has no problems urinating, only a pain to the prostate.
Now, with 600mg a day, he has nearly no more pain to the prostate but he has these pain to neck and lower back, I don't know if it is a "kidney pain"...
I didn't understand what you meant by "permanent damage to the kidneys"?
Does Neurontin damage the kidneys?
Good luck for the future.
