i'm a mom of two boys, and i had my baby in May, and i got the mirena in August, and 2 mos ago i notice, my hair had started shedding, and the more i comb my hair the more of my hair came out, and when i went to talked to my dr. he said that my hair shedding wasn't a side effect from the mirena, but i knew thats the only thing that it could've been, because i wasn't taking any medicine, he tried to make me keep the mirena in, dont get me wrong, i didn't have any other side effects from the mirena, but when i did talk to my doctor. he tried to tell me it could be my hormones balance out, he tried to talk me out of getting it removed, but i had it removed two weeks ago, and i notice since then my weight is going down, so it does make you gain weight too. But its not safe to me, i think they need to take it off the market.

I am shocked!! Over the last year I have experienced significant hair loss, mood swings, dizziness, cardiac issues (ended up in an ambulance for a suspected heart attack at age 37) can not go one day without Protonix, if I do I wake up in the middle of the night with horrible reflux and choking sensation. For the last 2 years I have had numerous allergic reactions resulting in shots of steriods and pred-packs..they can not find the cause (mostly when I get hot or flushed and every time I go on vacation). I never thought it could be my BCP. I have taken Yasmin, Yaz and now Ocella for about 2 years. My MD switched me from Yasmin to Yaz....b/c of HA's a year ago, I had a heavy period for 36 days, started back on Yasmin and my MD wanted me to take them continuous to skip my periods b/c of fibroids. My hair started falling out, my skin is dry with dry patches all over my legs and then my hair started falling out..thats when everyone told me I was crazy. I have a cramp in my right side all the time, I suspect from my gallbladder. I am a nurse and really thought of all of the worse things that could cause these symptoms, Thyroid, Cancer, Heart Disease, OCD, Paranoia. I think I will be stopping my Ocella(generic for Yasmin) tonight. I have been on BCP for 13 years straight, I'm scared that my periods will never be normal again? Anyone have any issues once off Yasmin??

My mom has been on Lisinopril for about 18 months. She is 80 years old and while she has not had as extreme side effects as some people she has gained about 15 pounds over the last year or so. She is not a big eater so I have found that odd and then just this week out of the blue she woke up with hugely swollen lips and nose. We went to her physician and he took her off of the lisinopril. He said this was a side effect of the drug. She could barely talk or eat her lips were so swollen.

My mom actually put me on Loestrin24 back when I was 17 because I had always had severe cramps that would keep me home from school 3 days in a row each month. (I loved it, she didn't.) They were horrible and my period lasted at least 7 days at a time. I had minor acne and break outs beforehand but noticed that once I got into the routine of taking Loestrin daily, my acne has fluctuated to absolutely unbearable and back to just fine in a matter of a few days. Also, I've been really "mean", apparently, since I started it (according to my fiance). I think my very worst complaint would have to be the vaginal dryness during sex and lack of sex drive. Before I was on the pill, I used to want to have sex every day! I don't know if those were teen-hormones playing their part, or what but since I've started taking Loestrin I've had zero sex drive and it really does feel like a chore. It has started to take its toll on my relationship. I cannot stay lubricated during sex at all and quite frankly, it's embarrassing as well as making me feel bad that my fiance thinks he cannot keep me excited. I am blaming Loestrin and am strongly considering telling my doctor to put me on something a little less harsh. I'm glad I'm not crazy and that a lot of other women are experiencing the same side effects as I am. (Oh, and on top of that, mind blowing migraines.)

I've been on Advair for 12 years.I'm 27 years old and fed up with all this medications that doctors prescribe. We are so brainwashed into thinking that we misbehave if we don't see a doctor.Let me tell you what: The majority of the doctors, only know to prescribe medication. They get bonuses from the pharma industries every time they prescribe their "new discovered"medicine.
Advair is supposed to be preventive, what you don't know it's for how long.Exactly!!!.....'cause it's not meant to cure Asthma, it's meant to keep you hooked for the rest of your life.
My worse symptom is a very fast heart beating.I'm a martial artist and every time i exert a fast burst of energy(while i'm sparring for example), my heart goes into pumped up mode.It beats very, very fast and i have to stop because it hurts.Sometimes i keep going no matter what and feel like i'm exercising for two people. When i stop, i breath very deeply for 5 minutes and all of a sudden it stops and beats regularly.
It's not fun, and one more thing: I'm from Argentina and my mom sends me the medicine from there cause it's way cheaper, sometimes i run out(i procrastinate sometimes), i'm left off with no medicine for a few days and boy.....I'm a wreck. The time you stop you go right back to where you started.I've been researching about an alternative to this "S***".I'm afraid 'cause i don't want to feel discomfort with my lungs anymore, but i strongly believe that there should be a natural alternative to all this laboratory drugs and i'm on a mission to find it.

I've been on prednisone for nearly 3 years continuously for Ulcerative Colitis. I've been on 60 mgs for quite a while but I am now down to 4 mgs. Once I went below 10 mgs. I started experiencing severe itching on my entire scalp and then upper back, ears and collar bone. I went to a dermatologist but she can't see any reason for the itching. Has anyone else had this side effect while tapering? It's making me crazy!

The experience my daughter had is all the same as others, her situation happen when she was on her menstrual, first she seen the string and the plastic passed in a blood clot the size of a fifty cent piece, I could not believe it, I am going to file against them, in reading the pamphlets there are no side affects saying that the Mirena will fall out!!!!!! (A mom that is MAD AS HELL) she also stayed with headache, stomach cramps, even when she didn't have her menstrual (before and after).

I think that I finally figured out why I am so physically and mentally sick. I received the mirena almost 2 years ago and I was a true advocate of the product...I love it!! About 6 months ago I started to have panic attacks and anxiety (i have never experienced this before) it was so bad that I barely made it to work everyday and could no longer handle being out in public. My PCP placed me on different types of anti-depressants (which made me depressed). Currently I take Budeprion which has decreased my anxiety but I do not feel like myself. The past month and a half I wake up with the feeling of morning sickness (the numerous pregnancy test say that I am not), have headaches, low energy levels and little motivation. I was pretty sure that my hormones levels must be "off" but my PCP and OB insisted that there is no way that my symptoms have anything to do with my hormones because my child is almost 2 years old and I am 29 years old. I have gone through numerous tests on my gallbladder and other organs to find the cause of these symptoms that I have and Everything is Fine. After reading the stories on this website I now know that I do not need anti-depressants and I am not going crazy...I just need to get the Mirena removed.

My Mom started taking Avelox September 28, 2009. She took her first pill at 8:33 P.M. and within 25 minutes could not breathe. Her tongue swelled so much, that it pushed her dentures out of her mouth. Nothing alerts you to this in the side effects. She had no time to call her physician as she died. She had previously taken Cipro and Levoquin, so she had the false security that this drug was safe. It was not. No one should die like this!

I have a little sister taking FEMCON FE shes only 15 yrs old out of no where she started acting strange. She started taking the pill for stomach cramps since in our family of girls we have chronic cramps. She got angry for no apparent reason, she got depressed, headaches, nausea, and she got cold shakes, she was ticked off at any little thing. We thought that she was just rebelling because of her age, but then I heard my mom talking about my sister taking birth control pills. I thought "oh thats it" thats the reason she's acting strange. I explained to my mom that the pill can give you a hormonal imbalance witch leads to mood swings, depression, and fatigue. Just to check out if I was right I looked up this prescription and came across this website. I read the stories and was amazed how most of the women/ girls had the same symptoms of my sister. Now I know I definitely should prevent my sister from taking this medication. I also think that if the pill is having a negative affect on you or anyone else you should stop taking it!!!!!

This is not a first-hand experience, yet I would like to share the side-effects occured to my Mom. She was having high blood sugar levels for some time,
The Doc' insisted on Jenuvia though expensive and he said that since it is
produced naturally(from human body itself), there are no known side-effects.
Well I searched for Jenuvia side-effects because my Mom was complaining about increased heart rates, head aches and after going through the experiences on this page, well her joint-pains too can be attributed to Jenuvia.
India is not cautious of the usage of medicines, lack of monitoring authorities,Medics going for quick relief and perks on costly medicines from
Pharma Giants.. and to add a huge diabetic population in need of help..
It could adversely affect lives of millions.

I am a few days away from my 19th birthday and i've been taking Yasmin since the age of 11. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 11 and Yasmin has been what's keeping my period regular and more or less pain free since then. In May of 2008 i was switched to the generic version of Yasmin called, Ocella and started to notice more and more symptoms and side effects. My stomach pain in the mornings grew greater by the day and when i was on my sugar pill i would gain an unbearable migraine. Thinking it was just part of being a woman i ignored it and went about my life. It wasn't until December of 2008 while out with a group of friends i came into some serious stomach pain. thinking it was just a typical stomach ache that i normally got i ignored it. when i came to be about 4 am and the pain hadn't stopped i started to worry. first thing in the morning i went to the doctor who referred me to get an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that i had gall stones and that i should have my gall bladder removed before more complications were to occur. Being a college student only a week away from returning to my second semester i opted to wait until spring break to have the surgery. During the 3 month wait i experience extreme diarrhea whenever something was put in my mouth, extreme stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, headaches, sore muscles, the list goes on and on i felt like i had been hit by a truck every day and i still had to go to class. in March of 2009 i had my gall bladder removed thinking that the symptoms would finally stop i returned to school only to find that nothing got better. It's been 7 months since my gall bladder has been removed and i'm still having the same symptoms as before and now i've added depression, stress, lack of energy and interest and many other things to the list. I'm still taking Ocella because i've never been advised otherwise but the symptoms are taking over my life. I am a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering at college and it's just become harder and harder to focus on my work or to enjoy the aspects of college that i should be with the frequent trips to the bathroom or having to opt out of a fun activity because of stomach pain. I was wondering if anyone can help me, maybe point me in a direction where i can get better and get back to enjoying what a 19 should be. Thanks.

I was on yaz for close to 4-5 years. I started taking antibiotics and my husband and I became pregnant while on the pill. We were well aware of chances of becoming pregnant. From the day I found out i was pregnant I started throwing up. I LOST 15 pounds during my pregnancy due to being sick all of the time. I had constant heartburn and choked all of this up to being pregnant with a little girl with a head full of black hair! The day my husband was suppose to go back to work from his leave (exactly 2 weeks after having my baby) i started throwing up at about 3am due to intense stomach pain that radiated into my chest and back and couldn't stop. He stayed home. The next day it happened again, my husband assumed i had postpartum depression and told me i would be fine and left for work. I tried to go back to bed but couldn't stop throwing up long enough to go into the next room and check on my crying newborn. I had to beg him to come home from work, we got a babysitter, went to the hospital, they did an ultrasound and admitted me. 12 hrs later I was on the operating table having my gallbladder removed. I now suffer with DAILY diarrhea immediately after I eat ANYTHING and stomach pain. I try to stick to a low fat diet but it doesn't help!!!! i have constant stomach pain, headaches, nausea and heartburn. Not to mention the FOUR scars that i have from the surgery. When i started taking Yasmin and eventually yaz NOWHERE did it say that it could cause gallbladder disease!

I have had Mirena for 1 yr and 5 months. The insertion was not painful that I recall, although I have had 4 kids, so I hear that may make a difference.
I loved this IUD for the first 9 months or so, then started noticing things that I didnt know were attributed to Mirena until I started reading about others experiences. Bleeding and spotting were minimal at first, no biggie.
I stopped having my period at all around 6 months...haven't had a period in a year..and had spotting maybe 3 times total. Since about 9 months into Mirena....I have had cystic acne. (which I didnt know existed until mirena) I had never had a blemish on my BACK in my life! Also on my face, around hairline, and in my ears, on my neck, and hard to get rid of. I have noticed little cyst like nodules in my neck and the back of my head, behind my ears, like swollen lymph nodes but they come and go...never noticed this before. Have had a intermittent mysterious sharp pain in my side, like a side stitch, comes and goes, and feel it during sex. No doctors had a clue about it. I have been very tired lately the last 3 months and I am on a stimulant for ADHD, so I should not be tired! (also why I haven't gained weight like others) But most markedly, I have always had a history of migraines, and had auras about 6 times in my life. Normally I would have 3 migraines a month tops.....then after about a year, I would get them several times a week...NOW I HAVE HAD A HEADACHE for 21 days straight, with only about 4-5 headache free days in there. Severe enough that I am taking painkillers and went to the ER, and they did a CAT scan and so nothing. normal. So. What could it be???
I got fed up this morning...after waking up one more day with kids I cant take care of properly or enjoy.....so I took out my IUD all by myself.
Couldn't leave the house to go somewhere with my head throbbing.
Dont want to pay anyone to remove something that has already cost me so much. Just looked at the diagrams, and found the string, pulled gently and viola! It was pretty darn easy! No pain, no discomfort at all. Not a drop of blood yet after 7 hours. Head still hurts but the relief I feel is great. I know I made the right decision to take it out and I wont use a hormonal BC again. I am looking into Essure now.
It works for some people, sure, but don't forget it worked fine for me for almost a year before I realized what harm it was doing to me.
I cant wait to have my skin back and my body back to normal.
Be wary, but it did its job. But I have read hundreds upon hundreds of negative reactions to this. Class action lawsuits getting ready. So be careful,

I have been on apri for about two years now. I am 21 working college student and was happy with apri for the first year of taking it but in the past 6 months to the past year some side affects have became a problem. I am constantly overly tired and lazy with a complete lack of motivation. I have also had a serious hair loss problem to the point where my mom noticed overly thin hair all of the sudden. I am over all happy with apri but I miss having my normal daily energy. Apri has helped my periods-shorter and lighter with little cramping and my sex drive is fine. Mood swings have increased where I also get irritated way more dramatically over little/nothing things. I am thinking about going off of BC completely for two months to see how it will change me to see if its worth the hair loss, mood swings and complete lack of energy.

Wow it is crazy how so many women act so differently to this drug. I got on here to see all of the negative effects which luckily I don't think I have experienced. I'm 25 and got on Yasmin a few months ago and felt great. I had noticed that I was becoming very emotional, irritable, and had a lot of pain with my periods (cramps and back aches). So I thought Yasmin sounded like a great cure for the problems I was experiencing. My mom actually made me aware of the recall so I immediately stopped taking the pills. The first month being off the pills seemed fairly normal. These last two months have been horrible though. Every time i begin to PMS I feel like I did before ever taking Yasmin. I've been fighting with my boyfriend and family members because either I'm very irritable, sensitive, or depressed. The couple months that I was on Yasmin no one even noticed when I was on my period because I acted completely normal. I think I'm one of the women who Yasmin may be a blessing for. Or maybe I have some underlying issue and Yasmin helps to mask it, I'm really not sure. That is why I'm posting here for any feedback, even the negative because it will help me to research all the angles. I think our bodies react differently to different drugs. I feel like a crazy women without Yasmin after experiencing those few wonderful months while I was on it. Please provide your input.
Thanks,
C.

I'm a nursing mom so my birth control options were limited. I had mine inserted 2 weeks ago which was quite painful. I'm nursing so I haven't had a menstrual cycle. I kept wondering the importance of having it inserted during your cycle. Well I learned that the reason it hurt so much is I had be dilated first. I'm still having cramping and now discharged. A quick culture showed negative results of infection and a vaginal ultra sound that the IUD expelled itself. So why the discharge and cramping is beyond me. I do not recommend this IUD. The experience has been very bad. I'm glad others like and have had a positive outcome.

I never really thought I was having a problem with Lisinopril which I have been taking regularly for 6 months. I am a 54 yr old female and going through menopause. I thought the memory problems and tiredness was due to this, never associated it with the drug. I really do not have a cough, just a kinda post nasal drip that causes me to clear my throat often and I am stuffy a lot. Now after reading these post, I wonder! I will stop for a while and see what happens. I do not think I have a blood pressure problem yet but the doc said since my mom did and mine fluctuates (most times in his office) and menopause, I should take it. Will keep posting

WOW! My Mom is 65 and having a lot of these same issues, rash, swelling of the hands and feet, itching, tired ALL the time, depression and she is really "foggy". Her feet are so swollen she cant walk! Her Dr acts like she is just seeking attention and just orders more blood work! After reading all of your comments I am sure its the Lisinopril! Her doctor told her she should NOT stop taking the meds because she could have a stroke! I am angry he is using this scare tactic. I live 2000 miles away but I ready to make a road trip to get this madness to end! She really needs to find a new Dr and stop using this dangerous drug!
Thank you all for posting these issues!

My 12 year old son had a lactose intolerance and because he loved dairy - especially skim milk, mac and cheese, ice cream - we decided to help him with the intolerance side effects of diarrhea, cramps, gas - and try the store brand of lactaid. The ingredients were identical to the brand name. the pills & worked great for about 3 weeks. This past week, he had horrible stomach pains, diarrhea again and nausea, so bad he had to miss school. He had an appetite, no fever, but was assaulted with the side effects from taking the lactaid pills. I thought I was helping him, yet only the reverse! I am grateful to have come across this web site and shared blogs. Now I know how to solve my son's problems that caused so much suffering. In addition to the stomach pains, diarrhea & nausea, he also complained of bad headaches. As a mom, my instincts are correct and I attribute all of this to taking the lactaid pills. Thankfully, my son will not have to endure the horrible episodes anymore. Lactaid pills are banned from our home!

yea im eighteen and got mirena inserted last year December when i was seventeen. i've never had a baby so i was worried that it would hurt a lot. but my mom and aunts pressed on for me to get it done. so i agreed because they claimed it was the best birth control ever. the actual insertion wasn't at all a difficult experience. but as soon as i got into the car and sat down excruciating painful cramps would hit me in waves. that has to be the worst pain i've felt yet to this day. at work i'd b on the ground crouched over trying to wait the pain out. i could have cried if i'd allowed myself. soon i became hooked on taking advil everyday to escape the pain. it worked as long as i remembered the little pill every morning. the cramp last from December to march. they are gone now i guess. and ever since a month after insertion i've been having odorous discharge. its very embarrassing so i use tampons to 'plug' the discharge from going out. i realize it probably isn't the smartest thing to do but i have no choice.

My nine year old started taking this horrible drug less than a month ago. Since then, he has has horrible mood swings, screaming fits, told us he hates us, emotional breakdowns and even threatened to kill himself. He is a bright, intelligent, active and usually a normal nine year old. Over the past month he has been in a physical fight at school where he punched a kid for telling him he was annoying. He has also been in a ton of trouble at school which is not like him. I was so worried until today. My Mom recommended that I check the side effects of his asthma medication. I am astounded and angry at what I am reading. His doctor is supposed to have his best interest in mind and we trusted her. She was the attending physician at a hospital where we live. My nine year old was hospitalized with asthma. Although his asthma needs to be controlled, not at his emotional expense. There has to be a better way...
